I have never given 5 stars to a dealership service center - usually it is more of a battle to get your car repaired for a reasonable price. I had problems with my Sienna key fobs. I showed up about 1 hour and 15 minutes before I had to leave to pick up my son - this probably wasn't a good idea on my part. But I told them I had to leave and they actually fixed the car within one hour - the other Toyota dealerships didn't come close to this. As it turned out the two key fobs only had a minor problem and they fixed them for free instead of charging me a few hundred for coming in. So I will be going back when I have a problem or for a new car when the time comes. read more

Took my vehicle in for a few recall updates and service, and was taken care of so well by Jake and the sweet rental car girl (blanking on her name, she's brand new and killing it!) They ended up needing to keep my car overnight and provided me a wonderful comparable vehicle. We have taken our RAV4 in for service twice in the past year. The first time we waited until late afternoon to receive an update on the service status. We finally had to call only to discover that nothing had been done to the vehicle. The paper work had gotten lost and that work could not begin until the following day. We had to go retrieve the vehicle after hours and scheduled the service with a different vendor on a later date. A complete fumble by Auburn Toyota and waste of time for us. That was the better outcome compared to the second service experience. The RAV4 has a design flaw that causes the rear lift gate to stick and not open. This is well documented and there are active class action lawsuits in process. We asked the general manager of the service department to fix this and he offered to split the cost. My wife agreed to this. We took it in for the service and the issue was fixed, but the windshield had a large crack that was not there when we brought the vehicle in for service. We showed the service rep the crack immediately. The gm was gone for the day and then was unresponsive so we went in to find out how they were going to handle this damage and they claimed that it was not their fault. Never ever trust the Auburn Toyota service department respect your time or to behave honorably. read more

I had my truck in for regular service. This was my third or fourth visit. Donna Bender was my service Advisor. She was excellent. She visited me once with an update and when I would be ready to go. The entire staff and experience was great. There was a positive vibe there. I visited the parts counter and they were also excellent. I was in and out in less than an hour. The entire service area was very nice. I have been to several dealers in the last few years and this one is a keeper. I intend on having all my vehicle service needs taken care of by Auburn Toyota. Had a pre-purchase inspection done here on a Tacoma I was looking to buy a few weekends ago. I was able to get in for a Saturday morning appointment (fairly last minute), and the inspection was ~$200 for a 2-3 hour inspection which is very fair in my opinion. The waiting area was nice, but we opted to head to Roseville given they'd have the car for a while. It was pretty packed first thing in the morning, so I'd recommend an appointment if possible. They were able to find a couple of small things that needed to be done with the truck and gave me a report for peace of mind/negotiation. Definitely would recommend if you're in the area for service or looking at a used vehicle in the area and want some assurance that the vehicle is in decent shape. read more

I went here for years but after they remodeled, they fired all the regular people. I do not care for the new help at all! I felt they were condescending and did nothing but increase my bill. My maintenance light came on shortly after I had an oil change and I called to make an appointment to bring it in. The gal said the light just needed to be turned off and I could just drive in without an appointment to have it turned off. I told her I wanted it checked out to make sure nothing was wrong. I don't see how she could do a diagnostic over the phone. I am now going to Roseville Toyota and I'm much happier. It's far superior! Avoid Auburn Toyota! read more

Not the worst customer service but definitely not the best. My service advisor let me know twice that they work off-of favoritism; meaning that long-time customers stand to get better deals than people like me. Some refer to this kind of thing as the "good ol boy" system, or unfair- bad business practice. Being originally from Texas I've experienced this approach/attitude more times than I can count from businesses run by folks with questionable professionalism. The service manager haggled to charge me for a diagnosis that was admittedly incomplete, meaning that they would need to charge me $500+ (3+ more hours) to remove the headliner & confirm the diagnoses regarding a leak on my FJ cruiser.... To be fair he did price-match Folsom lake toyota where I usually go because the prices are more fair their and the service is much better, that being said I paid $150 instead of $189 and they made sure to note that they need $500-$600 more dollars to accurately let me know where the leak is coming from, then at least another $400-$600 probably to seal it up. It's like doing a job just enough to warrant payment from the customer but leaving it undone enough to argue for the time-spent (which is exactly what happened with the haggling). I feel like you kind-of have to practically write things out in crayon for them and even then it feels kind of like their b.s.ing you a little... A little annoying having to re-explain all of the misunderstandings that my service advisor kept having, when I'd already provided adequate explanation when calling & scheduling what the appointment was for and even provided & emailed crystal clear photos of the problem. I'm going to take it to my mechanic friends that I know instead. To conclude, having a customer service management background I understand that the cornerstone of any successful business endeavor is excellent customer service and I feel they fall a little short. Very much got the vibe they are more of price-gouging opportunists than making sure their customers are happy. I cant say it's the worst experience but def not great. Management def needs improvement. Do better. Consumers - don't reward just anyone with your business, but rather those who go the extra mile and make you feel ok or good about your service! With Toyota dealerships everywhere, it might be worth traveling a little further to get a fair deal! read more

Brought my vehicle in for minor "recalls"/software updates and to receive my second key fob after waiting for 8 months. I had a 9AM appointment scheduled and have the email to prove it, but the staff couldn't find me in their system. Long story short, they had my vehicle for 4.5 hours to perform a service that should've taken no more than an hour. Why did I even make an appointment? Well, shame on me for not thoroughly inspecting my vehicle when I picked it up with my two children that wanted to just get home, because I didn't notice until the following day that my power/volume knob had been broken and placed back in the dash. I orderd service to get a step put on the drivers side door as I was having a hard time getting into the toyota tundra truck that I just acquired. So the gal on the phone said they have the step in stock and I made an appt to have it installed (over $500 parts and labor). So I went to Toyota for my appt. I sat in the lobby for an hour and 10 minutes and then they came to me and asked me if I ordered the mounting device???? i said, i just want a step installed... they said that they do not have the mounting device and that it will cost another $100.00!!! My time is very valuable and Toyota did not do a good job of training the people on the phone and figuring this out before I waited over an hour... very bad business toyota! read more

I really like this place because it also was super friendly and just made a mistake without researching their information. So this is why I gave it a low rating is because I have an iPhone 15+ max Pro Max and I came to them to find out how to set up my phone because it wouldn't set up with my 2023 Camry so I came there and they told me that my phone was too advanced to be set up in the Apple CarPlay.Here is the answer to that question. I really wish I could give a good review but I can not recommend working with their service department. We purchased a new vehicle and went with the protective coating. Car came back with buckled and bubbly film on our car and the manager did take note and we scheduled a time to bring it back and redo the job. In the meantime, my other Toyota was due for its 60k tune up and when I drove away, my battery warning went on. When I inquired about it, they said it was the age of the battery which was a few years old and it was time to replace it. And I asked why they didn't notice the battery life on the 60k tune up? They said they didn't do a 60k tune up, it was just an old change. So why did I wait a couple hours for an oil change?! Then we returned the other vehicle to get the protective coating redone and we got the car back with peeling film again on the mirrors and the back storage compartment open and rifled through. And no sticker letting us know when the next service would be. Never had a problem with Toyota service in other areas. read more

Just had a great sales and service experience at Auburn Toyota! I purchased a Prius V from their sales department and had a serious problem with that car a couple days later. I contacted Christine(sales manager) in the sales department and was turned over to Ryan in Service. He is in charge of used car reconditioning. The process from initial contact to getting my fully repaired car back was flawless . Ryan arranged for Jake to oversee the repair from start to finish . I'm very experienced in dealership auto service as well as sales and recognize knowledge ,process and integrity when I see it. Christine, Ryan and Jake all get an A plus for their expert handling of what could have been a really bad situation. This car was repaired like it belonged to their mother. The repair was expensive and they never attempted to cut corners or make excuses. I've had retail experiences that range from great to terrible and everything in between. I have dealt with this service department for about 5 years now. I won't be going back ever again, they have finally lost me as a customer. I bought my Tacoma new from them and regrettably purchased the Magnasheild package during the sale. With the vehicle purchase comes a 2 year Toyota Care maintenance package. I got 5 "free" oil changes with this in which 3 out of the 5 times there were issues. One time they spilled oil all over my grill and radiator without cleaning it up and another time I waited an hour and a half only to get home and realize they never changed the oil. When I called, they said "oops we put the wrong service code in the system". So what did I wait an hour and a half for? To rotate the tires? I had to drive back down and wait ANOTHER hour+ for them to do it right. This last time I went in to have the Magnasheild re-applied. I will say the service guy who met me outside was very nice & helpful, but that where the positive experience ended. I go to the rental car window where a blonde girl says it will be a few minutes before she can get to me. There were two other people in the waiting room, but no one else waiting to be helped by the rental car window. After 12-15 minutes and no one else being helped, I went back up to the window to ask how much longer it would be since I was going to be late for work if I had to wait too much longer. After an eye roll from the blonde girl, she began filling out the paperwork. The rental car was filthy inside & out. They didn't clean it let alone sanitize it like they should be during this Covid-19 situation we're all dealing with. When I went to pick my truck up I was greeted with dirty streaks on most of the windows and on all sides of my truck as well. Did they use a dirty rag to clean it with? Crappy job to say the least. Absolutely no attention to detail. On top of that, when I opened the driver's side door I noticed they swapped the drivers side & passenger side floor mats. Seriously!!!! This was very obvious, since neither side floor mat fit the contour of the floor board. I had to swap those before even leaving the dealership. Overall, it has just been a hassle to get my truck serviced here. Not worth the headache or my time to deal with this place any longer. read more

Tori in Service was amazing! I had my car towed off of Hwy 80 after my battery died and everything went dark. I was a bit rattled and Tori helped get everything checked in and kept me informed on the repairs. It needed both an alternator, battery and some fuses. Honesty is not what most people think of regardinng automotive service centers or dealerships for that matter. However when it happens then everyone should be told. So my story is I was qouted $210 to reprogram a remote key transmitter with the explanation that the computer had to be removed for access. Yet when I picked up the vehicle I was charged $140 with an explanation it didn't need to be reflashed, thus the savings. Maybe this is because Auburn is a small town and everyone looks out for each other. Maybe it was because of the culture instilled by management. I have to give them another compliment. I had a catastrophic engine failure due to a faulty spark plug situation where part of the spark plug fell in to the engine combustion chamber. I decided to order a "crate engine" from ATK and have Auburn Toyota install it. At first, the vendor shipped the engine with the wrong oil pump. They remedied that problem but when they installed the crate engine, the rear main bearing seal was leaking. Auburn Toyota had to remove the transmission on the new engine and replace the oil seal. The engine vendor wouldn't stand behind their warranty but Auburn Toyota took care of the problem without additional charge. That was an unexpected surprise by me In the future, Auburn Toyota has my business without a doubt. I have utmost respect for their repair organization. Jake was the service person that worked with me and he kept me informed regarding th whole saga. When the time comes to purchase a new car, it'll be with Auburn Toyota. read more

I've had my car serviced here since purchasing it in 2013. I've always had prompt & courteous service as well as quality work performed in the past. The last two visits I've had did not go as well as I thought. First time, they told me my battery had a heavy amount of corrosion and needed cleaning as well as an $80 "anti-corrosion" kit. I respectfully declined the cleaning and the product. Lifted my hood when I got my hood back to find no corrosion. My most recent visit on 1/24/18, I was recommended to have an additional $450-$500 worth of unnecessary services performed on my vehicle. I had done my homework, so to speak, prior to coming in and already knew what needed to be done based on the owners manual, online research and the condition of my vehicle based on inspection prior to dropping it off. The service advisor was very pleasant and made it seem as if he was trying to help me and recommend appropriate services when really I was just trying to be upsold. If you want to do waste your money and have recommendations that are dishonest, go here. I will not be returning and I will not purchase a vehicle from here. Been coming here for over 10 years...showed up at 8 am to do a standard oil change and tire rotation. He told me it would take a couple hours because they were busy today. I walked up two hours later at 10 am and he acted like he didn't know I brought in my car...after standing there for 5 minutes he comes back and says " sorry they are getting it in right now." I have never had this happened before usually when they say 2 hours its 2 hours or maybe an hour and a half at most. Come on...it's an oil change and a tire rotation. I went to this shop to have my car painted. A manufacturing defect, as I bought my car from scratch at Toyota. The manager who treated me very poorly, said he would schedule the service and would send the appointment by email. It's been 6 months now and I've never heard back. He didn't bother to give me a number with the work order. I contacted the store and was told that there is no work order for my car to be repaired. I'm outraged at the lack of respect for the customer, when we come to buy and a different service, now if your car has a problem they don't solve it. I felt a certain prejudice at the time of service because I did not speak English, so I took my son to translate for me and he was not even more friendly and polite, he was very rude. I encouraged my 20-year-old daughter to purchase her (without parents help) first car here as I had a wonderful experiencing purchasing my car from Auburn Toyota. To say the least, she was taken advantage of. With a FICO score of 740, they financed her at over 7%. Mind you, interest rates are extremely low right now. Finance guy called her the next day and said he found her a lower interest rate and would honor it.... and never did. My daughter called back twice and was told, "its going to change. It has to process." Still nothing, months later. As a parent I'm frustrated with myself for trusting Auburn Toyota to do right by her. As a young lady, my daughter learned a very valuable lesson. Purchased a vehicle from here which actually was a great experience. The service department has not been a great experience though at all. 1. First visit for normal scheduled maintenance of oil change and tire rotation (appointment made first thing in morning). Took over 2 hours which is crazy at 7am right when they open with an appointment. Left finally and when I drove away, the tire pressure light came on. Drove back to service department and someone had to fix the tire pressure. they were VERY over inflated. Service guy said someones tire gauge must not be calibrated correctly. 2. Second normal schedule maintenance visit again with a Saturday 7am appointment for an oil change and tire rotation. AGAIN left and the tire pressure light came on. Took the car right back and they got the light off. I left and AGAIN it came back on. I just pulled into a gas station and found the tires were VERY under inflated. I fixed it myself as proper tire inflation is very easy for everyone else. THEN I get a call almost a week later letting me know that they found that they never actually did the oil change! The hour and a half I was there they didn't even do the main part of the service. I spoke with the service department manager and he apologized over and over and was very nice and offered to have the car picked up by someone on his team and change the oil and then return it. Being without a vehicle is NOT easy and so when I finally had it free for another Saturday I called to have them pick it up and change the oil. I was told they cannot do that on a Saturday as they do not have drivers to get and return the car. I am not sure why an offer was put out there that they could not actually honor. I am in Rancho Cordova for work during the week or completely out of town which is why I bring my car in on Saturdays and would expect that same day of the week service as that restriction was not presented to me in this solution offer. 3 strikes too many for me. read more

Not only did he charge me less for some of the parts then I was quoted from the Downtown Oakland Toyota Dealer, but he put me in a rental so I could get to work and even had my vehicle washed. I recently relocated to Auburn from the Bay Area and never received such professional and courteous service from my local Downtown Oakland Toyota location. Not the best Toyota in the area. I would rank this third behind Maita and Roseville (haven't been to Elk Grove or Folsom). It's interesting to see how maintenance schedules differ among different dealers. Auburn Toyota is on the higher end since they "perform maintenance assuming driving in foothills conditions." Should have they been clear on this? Yes. Were they? No. This differs than say, in Sacramento or Roseville where they seem to do a little bit over the manufacturer's recommended service, which is acceptable. Perhaps if they paid attention to my address in their computer system, they would consider that I don't drive in Foothill conditions, and that a lower level of service is justifiable. Second issue, tires. I came in with one of my tires flat (the spare was flat from a previous accident). The first tire they offer is a Goodyear Eagle. Great! Offer your more expensive tires rather than the stock Bridgestones or Yokohamas? What happened to starting with the basics and "upgrading"? Not to nitpick with sales techniques, but I can see why some car dealers get a bad wrap. I'll give an additional star for performing the services correctly. I know it's a tough economy and making the sale is important, but does that trump good customer service? read more

This is a review only of the service department. They have been very good about getting warranty coverage for warranty work. Some other places seem to want to tell you that whatever goes wrong, it's not covered. Not so here. They are good about giving free loaners if you must leave your car overnight. Since my husband and I purchased our car in 2005, we have always had our car serviced at the dealership. Why? Well because we like to keep all records at one place and because we have always had a good experience. We took the SUV in because the check engine light was on and we didn't want to take it out of town. Due to the time it was going to take to check the vehicle over, we decided to leave it. We returned the following business day to pick it up. Not to mention the grand we spent on repairs. My first complaint is we could only use one coupon... The second was they didn't even bother to wash the car. Really? $1000 and they can't even wash it. When I take my other vehicles in for a tire rotation or oil change, they always wash my vehicle. This is regarding the Service Dept only. I have a 2007 Rav4. Years ago i went down a dirt road and spun my tires a bit but switched it into 4x drive and got out OK, but the VSC, 4 Wheel & Check engine light came on. I called this dealer and they told me to bring it in, they would switch off the lights and if it came back on then i would have to bring it in for diagnostic that something else was wrong. Brought it in, lights were turned off and they did not come back on. So 4 days ago same thing. went up in the mountains, spun my tires on a dirt road, put it in 4x drive and got out ok. Yep the lights came back on again. So i called Auburn Toyota and told the operator my issue and that i wanted an appointment to come switch off the lights. She said that was fine & set up my appointment. When i arrived today they did not have my appointment in the book and started asking questions on who i spoke with, when etc. Told her why i was there just to have them switch off my VSC, 4x drive & Check Engine Light. I was immediately told they would not switch off the lights because the Check Engine light is on that something is mechanically wrong. Tried to explain to him that all 3 lights automatically come on and Google even confirmed this information too. He stated I and Google were wrong, that they had to hook it up to a diagnostic machine and charge me $119. I tried to explain my story that they have switched it off in the past so why cant they do that again. I was constantly interrupted, the gentleman kept shaking his head, not letting me talk. I finally asked him why he is being rude & not letting me finish telling him what i'm trying to say? His response was he is not intending to to talk over me ...but then kept shaking his head and went right back into talking over me again! I told him if he was going to be this rude and not listen to me, telling me what i know is incorrect and trying to up-sell me on services then i would not be returning. I left and U-Tubed how to turn off the VSC, 4x drive & Check Engine lights and guess what, all 3 lights do simultaneously automatically come on, and the video showed me how to turn off the lights myself! BE CAREFUL THIS DEALERSHIP GAVE ME MISINFORMATION & TRIED TO UP-SELL ME ON CHARGES THAT WERE NOT NEEDED. read more

I got my car from this dealership. Everyone you speak to has a different thing to say in the service department. Had a light replaced about a year ago, when I got home I realized they didn't finish putting it back together and left parts in the trunk. Was told to just pop in and they would take care of it. Drove up about 25 minutes from home and was told that I needed an appointment for something like that. I should have learned my lesson after that first experience. Yesterday I called in to see if I could get an oil change, girl on the phone says no problem come on in. I explicitly ask her if I should make an appointment, her response was no definitely not wide open. I even asked if she was sure and she said yes. Drove up and the guy at the front desk said there was no way of getting me in unless I left the car there all day. Scheduled an appointment the next day. Brought the car back at 8:20 am the next day, the guy at the desk was super helpful(Anthony I believe). Hour later ready to go. Guy pulls up, I get in and make my way out but the car is making a funny sound. So instead of driving all the way home I pull over 20 feet out of there parking lot and pop the hood. They didn't put on the oil cap, and oil was all over. Drove back and they found the cap, sprayed it down, and I'm back on the road. Expecting they cleaned it all up, but when I got home still some oil. I don't expect anything, but a little surprised they didn't offer anything to keep a customer. They also provide a check list of everything they look at on your vehicle. I don't know much about cars but started double checking some things they checked off as good, coolant checked good, but well below the low level. I don't understand not mentioning that. I like the idea of going to the dealership where you buy the car and was willing to pay $72 for an oil change. Very disappointing experiences. read more
