I have been particularly impressed with Audi Marin, specifically working with Gene Frank. It's apparent he is a seasoned vet when it comes to customer service. My car recently sustained a great deal of water damage to the electrical system. Within an hour of my car light indicating the issue with an alert, Gene got me into Audi, lined up with a loader (brand new) Audi and kept in close communication. When the inspection revealed the issue was due to an outside influence (rains), he suggested I follow up with my insurance company, which in turn covered the costs at 100% with Audi. I never once had to experience being put on hold, or speaking to anyone unfamiliar with my car's issues. He was transparent, honest, but most importantly on top of seeing my car through with exceptional communication from start to finish. We had a flat tire on one of our run flats. Called Audi Roadside Assist and had it towed to Audi Marin. Following morning first thing got a call from Gary in the service department who said he'd have to order the tire and they try to get it done same day. Later that afternoon Gary called to say the car was ready. When I showed up there was no line and no wait. Gary cheerfully greeted me and explained what had happened to the old tire and the warranty on the new tires. A few minutes later the car was brought around from the car wash. Nice place and was not busy. The receptionist in the sales area quickly asked if I needed help. I explained that am in the market and interested in a Q7. She went to get a salesman. About 15 minutes later she saw my son and me still standing around, and went into the back again. She came out and said "he'll be right with you." 15-20 minutes later my son and I were still standing around. We left and checked out a BMW X5 and Porsche Cayenne. I started this review with 5 stars because the process of returning our previous Audi and driving away was easy and fun. Then, as we drove away, we noticed that there was NO gas in the car and we coasted to the nearest gas station on fumes and then filled up the car (that was supposed to have been filled when we drove it off the lot) for $60, out of our pocket. No worries, we thought, just an oversight; we were still happy. Then, over a month, nearly two later, we received a bill from Audi Finance for some $385 for what they called, a slashed tire and a missing owners manual. The tire was not slashed when we drove the car to turn it in. It was given the once over by the mechanic when we turned it in at the dealer. It was in mint condition with only 18,000 miles on it. We contacted our sales associate who said we shouldn't have to pay the bill and he'd speak to management. So we did nothing. A month later, we got another bill, this time, threatening "collection". We contacted our sales associate again, and again and never got the courtesy of a call, email or text. Working direct with Audi Finance, they gave us a discount to $250. They said that without dealer intervention, that was the best they could do. At least they did something to ease the pain. We paid the $250 because we have perfect credit and didn't need collections hounding us. A month later, we got another bill for the remaining; so total, Audi Finance. still apparently wanted the $385, originally billed for the "slashed tire and missing owners manual that our associate said not to worry about. This time I was really hot! And still no response, whatsoever, from Marin Audi. I can promise you, I will not only never, ever get another car from Audi Marin again (or use their service Dept) , but I tell everyone who compliments me on this beautiful car (and it's often), why I will never get another car from Audi Marin or visit their service dept. I'm done with them. This is more than disappointing. No establishment should ever ignore or treat a good customer this way. read more

Audi Marin was wonderful when I needed help. While visiting the Bay area and driving over the Golden Gate Bridge the first time (!) my coolant light alerted me to pull over and stop the car. Instead I checked for the closest Audi dealer and drove to Audi Marin hoping my engine would be OK. Alan at the service desk helped me immediately. He had my car checked out - found no leaks - my car only needed the coolant to be topped off. All of this was done in less than 30 minutes and complimentary. Let's just start by saying "I WILL NEVER BUY A CAR FROM AUDI MARIN"!! I drove an hour from home to San Rafael to test drive and possibly buy an Audi Q5. After navigating their parking garage that was full with the exception of handicap spots I parked and went inside. Their is no signage telling you where to go for sales. There was some guy standing in the parking garage going from car to car and lurking around. He kept staring at my son and I. It was actually a bit scary. I couldn't tell if the office part of the building was open or closed as there is basically nothing down there. We ventured up the stairs to what is I guess the "sales floor". The receptionist at the desk didn't acknowledge our presence other than giving us the once over. We walked around for about 15 minutes looking at the three cars on the showroom floor,. I saw three guys in offices, none with customers yet no one was even looking like they were interested in helping us. I went to the desk and asked the receptionist what I needed to do to take a car for a test drive. She stared at me and said she would go ask one of the sales people to help us. Again, we waited, it was so akward. After about 10 minutes I had, had enough. We started down the stairs and finally a man asked if we were the people wanting a salesperson. By that time I was done. We had been there a good 25 minutes, they couldn't have cared any less to help us. There was no one else in the showroom except a woman waiting for service or something on her computer and a man looking at the apparel so they were not overwhelmed! We made an appointment in Roseville and brought home Q8 and I will never go back to the Marin dealership again! read more

In a nutshell, I ended up purchasing the car despite this ordeal ranking at the bottom of any of my car buying experiences. After driving an Audi for a week, I was impressed with everything I saw and felt. I've always liked the styling of Audi's and I decided I wanted something more sporty and dynamic than my Lexus. After researching models and features, I inquired online about a couple of vehicles in stock and quickly received a response that they were still in stock, so I made the trip down to test drive them. Upon arrival, I told the receptionist who I was and who contacted me. She didn't look up once from whatever she was doing and gave the impression that she couldn't be bothered by anything but her phone. I sat down and waited. And waited. 30 minutes later a sales associate appears - great! I want to go on a couple of test drives! He didn't seem too happy, but I figured I'm here for a car, not him. Both test drives the guy was on his cell phone texting literally the entire time, and that is no exaggeration. "Make a left here." "Uh-huh." He didn't know the correct horsepower of the cars, the features, and gas mileage (I had been researching the car extensively online). He was less than enthused, but I really liked a particular car - the features, color, mileage, etc. I decided to go ahead and trade my Lexus in and get the Audi - despite my gut telling me to run to another dealership (he was on his phone all the way to his desk). After accepting his offer, I was left alone - with no explanation what was going on - for over an hour. Finally, someone in a suit yells in my direction "hey you! They're ready for your signatures!" Huh? I'm then walked over by this guy to VW where a man behind a desk looks flustered and tells me my paperwork "is a mess" and that they hadn't even run my credit (it's excellent and I financed to get the incentives). After that process, the original sales associate materializes and says that if I can wait 10 minutes he'll walk me through my new car, pair my phone, fill up my tank and answer any questions I may have remaining. An hour and a half later I'm still alone, holding the keys to my new Audi AND my Lexus. I was able to figure out most features by myself, but I grew frustrated with a couple of work flows (the interface and controls are very different from Japanese makes and, not at first, very intuitive). Out of desperation I flagged another sales associate for help - he was very nice - hurried, but nice - and he flew through a couple of answers and I handed him the keys to my Lexus. By this point it was getting late and I had to just get home. 6+ hours. That's how long it took from the moment I walked in to when I drove out. And I knew what I wanted when I went there, mind you. I love the car, but I think I could have gotten a better deal at another area Audi dealership -certainly much better service - oh, and Audi Marin undercut the value of my trade. Live and learn, but I can't recommend this place. As an aside, there weren't a lot of customers around, but there were plenty of guys huddled in offices or running around. At one point an elderly gentleman on the sales floor just called out into the open "Can I get help with a convertible?!" I also wanted to buy a couple of accessories, but surprise! the parts and service associates left early and the manager said I'd have to come back the next day (I'm not making that drive twice in 24 hours). Thanks, bud. It may be worth it to drive a bit further and go to another dealership for a better car buyer no experience. I know I will the next time around! read more

I have had terrible experience with this dealer. When I went to buy my car, I scheduled an appointment with the sales guy who had been helping me. I showed up at the designated time, but he was busy with another customer. He acknowledged that I was there, but then I waited an hour while he screwed around with the other customer, who was really just looking. I left and bought the car at Audi of Oakland. I just tried to schedule a service appointment with them. They said the earliest one was over 4 weeks out. Then they said they would have a service coordinator call me to work out an earlier date. Nobody ever called. When I called back, I got routed to the service desk, and the phone rang and rang until it finally circled back to the main line. No help whatsoever. Almost like there is nobody there. I called Audi Oakland, and they fit me in the next morning. Terrible service, terrible customer treatment. Go elsewhere. read more

I purchased a used (non-Audi) vehicle from this dealership, and although my salesperson was fine I have zero respect for their Finance Manager (FM). He was kind during our appointment, considering I was freezing and had low blood sugar after waiting so long to do the paperwork (thanks for the snacks), which was done in a rush so I could be out the door at closing. I take responsibility for not noticing that a Vehicle Service Agreement had been added back in, after I had asked for it to be removed. So when I got home that evening and realized what had happened, I immediately emailed the FM asking for it to be removed and for that $ amount to be deleted from my car loan. He confirmed it had been done. Weeks later, not seeing a difference in my loan balance at my Credit Union, I spoke with them and they said they needed a confirmation # for the cancellation. I called the dealership FM & was told he was out of the office, but the person I spoke with told me that there is no cancellation # (?!) and that it takes 1-1.5 MONTHS for the Vehicle Service Agreement company to cancel the contract and return the $ to Audi Marin. I called BS on that, as this is the digital age. He said he'd have the FM call me. Guess who never called. So today I dug through my purchase docs and called the Vehicle Service Agreement company directly, and found out that the original Agreement was established and cancelled, and then ANOTHER ONE was set up and that agreement is still pending. I have no idea how that happened, because I sure didn't request it. So I'm assuming that the FM didn't bother to look into my account, and is remembering the original contract was cancelled. But that's sure giving him the benefit of the doubt, and is generous of me to entertain that possibility considering he's ghosted me. If I hadn't looked into this myself I'd be paying $250/month in interest on my loan which is unnecessary since I asked for the contract to be cancelled AND WAS TOLD THAT IT HAD BEEN. Oh, and I purchased on the last day of the month, so in order for the sale to be counted that day, as I had not intended to purchase that day and was not financially prepared, I wrote a personal check for the sale having been assured by FM that if I transferred the $ into my checking account (from a different bank) right away it would all be fine. Come to learn that it takes 1-3 days for an electronic transfer to finalize. This is a basic financial fact a FM would know. I was told by another Audi Marin employee he could have easily held the check for a couple days to avoid it bouncing. Completely unprofessional. On multiple counts. read more

I was told I can come and pick up my car "anytime during business hours" so I went to pick it up on Saturday afternoon (I live an hour away). when I got there I was told it was not possible for me to pick up my vehicle because they do not accept payments on the weekend. If they do not except payments on the weekend why is the sales department open? Then on Monday I went BACK to go and pick up my car. I called before I went in so that I could pay over the phone and let them know I was in a hurry. They told me my car would be ready as soon as I got there and then I ended up waiting to pick up my vehicle for 45 minutes because apparently after they detail it they still feel the need to put it through the wash (sounds like a pretty bright bunch of guys to me). This place is unprofessional and slow. I would not recommend to any Audi owner. read more

I setup an appointment to see the car and when I get there, they tell me someone else is on a test drive. Once the car came back, I was given the keys. 5 minutes later a rep runs up to the car and says "Put the car in Park, and get out. it's sold!". My lease is due back in August, so naturally I am looking for a new lease. I have been interested in an Audi, and unfortunately drove to Marin without making an appointment. I was initially met by a friendly face, who let me know that the car I was interested was not currently in stock because it is so "popular". We talked a little, and although I did not have an appointment he was willing to take me to the garage to show me a couple of Audi models. Prior to leaving he asked if I would provide my name and phone number so he could follow up with me when a Q3 came into the dealership. We started talking about lease payments and I was shocked when the monthly payment was FAR higher than the advertised monthly lease payment. As he was explaining to me, he made clear to me about the type of "clientele" they serve, and made sure to let me know that the car I was looking at was one of the lower cost Audi cars, and if I wanted a lower payment I should go to Subaru. Another sales man then stepped in, (Mo Bonakdar) and attempted to "show me" why the payment that was advertised on the Audi website was false, and although I was asking specific questions, he thought that he could belittle my questions and make the price that was advertised seem absurd. Needless to say I have never been treated with such disrespect and classism, as I have today at this dealership. I grew up in Marin, so I'm familiar with entitlement and snobs, but this was above and beyond any experience I have ever had. If I could give a zero star, I would. read more

This weekend I needed help with the remaining key as its not working. I called today and I didn't get a call back until 4 hours later only for them to tell me I have to order the key and they don't know when it will be ready. I was on vacation in Hawaii when I located this car on AutoTrader.com, after Alex contacted me, we discussed the vehicle via email. The price seemed fair and aligned with the KBB valuation of the vehicle. I provided all necessary paperwork digitally while on vacation and made an appointment to pick up the vehicle upon my return. The best part of the experience was: I live in Orange County, CA so I flew into Oakland to pick up the vehicle. When I arrived, I was greeted by the General Manger "Rod" who used my first name, which I was very impressed by (he also has great taste in watches). Unreal experience trying to schedule my first service appointment after buying my brand new Q7 from this dealership 7 months ago. When you drop a decent amount of money on a supposed luxury car, you expect to be treated with at least a basic level of customer service, something this dealership's "service" department doesn't seem to understand. The first time I called service I was told my 'advisor' was off that day and a message would be left for him to call me. Well after leaving two more messages still no call back. On my fourth call to service the person who answered the phone told me they have been really busy and it was even hard for them to get a hold of service. She put me on hold to try to call my advisor. I went to Audi of Marin to get my wife a SQ5 and my an RS7 . I already had a S5 and my lease was up so I wanted to upgrade my car. So my daughter and I go there to look at the cars. It's Saturday and it's raining and I'm wearing sweats. No one bothers to even say anything to me for the first 15 minutes I'm there and there aren't any customers so that's the start of the bad service . Then finally after looking both the cars I was interested in , someone finally comes and asks if I need help . So I ask them if I could test drive 3 cars: E-tron GT, RS7, and the SQ5. They said no cause it's raining and that they weren't going to take the cars out of the showroom so I could test drive. Then I ask them if they had similar cars for me to test drive, they said no cause it's raining . I said ok , shook my head and left. Then I decided to go to Porsche of Marin, and they let me drive whatever I wanted in the showroom and I ended up buying a Porsche Cayenne GTS out of spite for Audi. My wife was happier that she got an upgrade . I got myself a Porsche 911 Turbo S. Thanks Audi of Marin for being... the way you are. If not for bad lazy customer service I wouldn't have gone to Porsche and gotten BETTER CARS. read more

Sales team is remarkably mysoginist, ignorant and unhelpful. Brought in a check to buy an A3 Quatro. They gave the wrong information for the car and almost sold me an A3 without all wheel drive which was what I explicitly wanted. The manger, Nathan is absolutely useless. We asked for a return call to work things out. He called my husband back 4 days later, not me who was paying cash for the car. He left a message asking for call back in the next hour before he left and would not be available until the following week. That's some great customer services and etiquette, especially coming from a so called manager. Was excited to buy an Audi, but not from these guys. read more

Husband and I came to the dealership in Feb. pre COVID, were there 45 minutes with no acknowledgement from anyone. It was a Saturday afternoon so ok, they were busy. Went back today after making an appointment 4 days ago. I identified the car I wanted so they could sanitize it, and made an appointment with a sales person. Got there on time today, waited for the salesperson for 40 minutes, he let us know that all of the models we wanted to drive had no gas. Finally found one that had 10 miles until empty but when we took it out, the 10 miles went down to 5 and we were so preoccupied by that, we couldn't get a good test drive. Took the car back to the dealership and our sales guy was nowhere to be found, and we were ignored again. Left the keys with the receptionist and bailed. Headed over To Concord later today after making another appointment and they were already friendlier and seem more prepared. Seriously Marin, get it together. read more

I usually loathe car shopping, but had a smooth and -- dare I say it -- enjoyable experience at Audi Marin, thanks to Neil Rathna, my sales consultant. The interaction started after I called to inquire about a couple of pre-owned vehicles I had seen on the web. Neil was helpful and responsive answering my questions, he promptly followed up via text message with additional info, and was well prepared when I showed up for an appt to test-drive the vehicles (the vehicles were out front, and ready for me to jump into). After test-driving the vehicles I thought I was interested in, none had the exact combo of features and/or mileage I was interested in, so I decided to pass on them. However, Neil really heard me and honed in on what options I needed, and which I really had no interest in paying for, and spontaneously made me an offer on a brand-new vehicle that ticked all the boxes, but wasn't loaded with options that I didn't really care about. In addition to giving me a screaming deal on the new car price, I was also *very* pleased with the generous trade-in offer on my old car. In addition to feeling like I was treated very fairly price-wise by Neil, I was delighted that he followed up with me days later, to make sure I was happy with my new vehicle. If you are interested in great customer service - and being treated like a human being by a car dealer - I recommend you go see Neil Rathna. read more
