Work carried out: To program a spare key fob that I purchased from eBay. Prior to commencing, Ricky the service tech guy at Audi who assisted me was prompt and very thorough in his explanation about the possibility that the aftermarket key fob may not even be programmable. He warned me of the risks and costs associated. None the less an attempt was made and unfortunately, the key fob wasn't compatible. Ricky obviously cares about Audi's reputation and providing good customer service that he not only waved the service fee to program a key fob ($105 ) but he even provided a complimentary car wash. Result: Whilst they made no money with me on this service, moving forward I'll be returning for every major service and they've just won a new customer. Thanks, Audi and thanks, Ricky! Steve Hamilton, who's a senior customer service rep was very helpful and caring after my disgust with the service agent I spoke to when trying to fix something with my 2015 Audi Q7. I recently went back for an oil change and received some goodwill from Steve, to fix a few things with the car. My car and I are both happy and it's all thanks to Steve, for his apology of that agent and his duplication and great service. we currently own and Audi and were investigating downsizing our model as we don't need the space. After an embarrassingly low offer on our existing vehicle, the salesman hasn't even had the courtesy to follow up from my last email when I brought up the Kelly Blue Book rates - you'd think they'd be aware of what's a reasonable price... That said they also haven't bothered to explain why they might price so low - if they had a fair argument I would be willing to listen. They've just vanished off the face of the earth - doesn't really bode well for future dealings! So on this note we don't really want to have any dealings with Audi, they've left a sour taste in our mouths. We have decided to buy a Porshe where staff there have treated us with better customer service (and not tried to pull the wool over our eyes). Our advice. Approach Audi with caution read more

My experience in Livermore set the bar really high as all Audi owners were treated well and customers were always welcome no matter what or where you bought your car. The Audi Marin service department has made me feel like a second class POS for the last time. They will actually ask you or look up if you bought your car there or not before helping you or offering a loaner vehicle. If you have not purchased your car at this dealership ABSOLUTELY DO NOT bring it here for service they will treat you and your car like $#!+. While having my wife's S5 serviced I attempted to ask Alan about purchasing additional service plan for my 2015 A6 3.0. He told me there were no options, it was old and there were too many miles on it, that I should trade it in and buy a new one and then he laughed at me. As he wrapped up my appointment he said "you don't need to get your vehicles serviced here". Roger that Alan. After today's experience and my previous experience with Gary P. which was no better I will be going elsewhere for service and for any future purchases. You win, assholes. read more

My test drive last weekend at Audi Marin has occupied my thoughts for the last week. It was the time I learned that my 17 year old white son can recognize sexism! After our test drive when we were out of ear shot of the sales guy, my son said "Wow. That guy was sexist!" It wasn't that the sales guy had said anything explicit; rather, it was the treatment (almost lack thereof) that he gave me. I had made an appointment earlier in the week to drive one of their luxury electric cars. My appointment was with a specific guy, and I had told him I would be bringing my son. As others noted, it is difficult to determine where actually to go once you arrive at Audi Marin. There are no signs that tell you to go to the second floor, but you figure that out very quickly because the first floor looks abandoned. On the second floor, there was an Audi guy sitting at a desk on the phone, and some others near some offices. But, what looks like the reception desk is at the other end of the room. My son and I stood there, near a husband and wife who also looked like they were hoping someone from Audi would talk to them. Eventually, a sales guy walked up to them. He was the guy I had made the appointment with, so I assumed that after he spoke with the couple, he would tell them he had an appointment but would find someone to help them and would turn to us. Nope. He told the couple he would get the car fob and return. He then left. He acted like we were not in the room. My son couldn't believe it as I had spoken with that guy and told him I would be there with my son. I was clearly the person who was there for a planned test drive! With him! My son and I walked to the guy at the desk and asked for help, noting we had an appointment and we thought it was with the guy who was helping the other couple. They handed us off to another guy who they said was actually the expert on the car I was looking at. We told him the car we wanted to drive, well my son did since I got the acronyms mixed up. He wasn't sure if the car was on the lot! [Did I mention we had made an appointment to test drive that car?] He barely talked to us and barely talked about the features of the car. When I mentioned concern that the low clearance might be a problem with my steep driveway, he acted like I was an idiot since it is all a matter of angles and if you know how to drive a car you shouldn't be bottoming out. He showed me the basic features of the car, and then I drove the car. He barely said anything. He seemed to think my questions and remarks were stupid. When my son in the back seat asked questions, the guy perked up. At the end of the test drive, I pointed out that it looked like there were ports on both sides of the car. That seemed like something I would have been told at the outset as an interesting specialty feature. I also made him open the trunks so I could take a look - those all seem like things he would have wanted to show me himself without any prompting. Anyway, it seemed like all of us couldn't get out there fast enough. My son did hint to the guy at the end that I actually could afford the car, had driven a Porsche before, and was looking at cars near that price range. The guy seemed slightly more interested, but, not enough apparently to contact me in the three days he claimed he was required to. So, upshot - if you are an independent woman, either bring in an adult male with you, or shop elsewhere! For me, it was an unpleasant reminder of the many steps I've taken in my life to stay away from businesses that don't treat me respectfully. I still remember who they are, and I have never returned. Audi will never get my business; Porsche and Lucid here I come. read more

I spent 2-3 weeks researching the car I wanted @ local dealerships. Sonnen had the largest inventory + lowest prices of all the Bay Area options. I had the pleasure of working w/ JON YOUNG (Sales Rep) and ROD HELAIRE (General Manager) this past weekend - the negotiations were quick and painless. Throughout the course of conversations shared I felt that I was working w/ a smart / conscientious team of advisers (as opposed to adversaries). I cannot say enough good things about these two - JON took his time walking me through every detail of the car and deal - ROD added his two cents when applicable. Never once did I feel pressured / bullied / confused. I purchased a 2015 S3 yesterday and could not be happier - this is my third Audi after a string of BMW's. I live in SF but will continue to go to Sonnen for Service and / or any new car needs. JON said something that stuck w/ me as I drove off the lot - '50% of my effort goes to selling the car - the other 50% is dedicated to maintaining a dialogue to make sure you're enjoying the new car.' This was honestly the best car purchasing experience we've had to date. AJ was honest, efficient, and kind. We had gone in to look at one car but it was sold minutes before we arrived, and he worked with us to find something even better than the original vehicle we were looking at, at a great price. I brought over my friends mother roughly a month ago to look at a couple or cars. I made sure to refer her to Mo, the person who I had the pleasure of working with when I brought my girlfriend here to buy her car back in November. Mo is excellent, and it's amazing to see him work with different clients. It is clear he does his best to meet the needs of the customer. My friends mother, Margret, was shown SUV's with well specced interiors. He showed off all of the infotainment system features and all the climate control features, since that's what was important to her. If you're coming in to look at a car, I highly recommend you book some time with Mo. Although I'm confident that anyone of the sales staff will be kind. Food and water was offered to us first. There was no sales pressure at all. We actually returned to Mo's desk for numbers per our request. The price was also within the good price range according to kbb, so that wasn't even a worry. Friends of mine come to me for help with purchasing a car. As long as Audi of Marin has cars that meets my friends needs, I will always bring them in. I had been trying to decide on a luxury crossover for some time. I headed to the Bay Area (5 hours away) to test drive some of my top choices. A Mercedes, the BMW X3 and the Audi Q3. My first stop was BMW, they were helpful enough and I didn't feel pressured or anything, but I also didn't feel like my business mattered. Mercedes was even worse. I was with my husband, and the salesman kept talking to him about the car. Which always sorta rubs me the wrong way, especially when I'm buying the car. I wasn't able to test drive the model that I wanted, because they were sold out so I moved on. Now Audi Marin was different. Absolutely no pressure. Nathan Proctor came over and almost made me feel like we were old friends. He was great. When I told him that I was shopping around, he didn't give me the hard sell. He also didn't have anything negative to say about the other cars. He gave me the space to just look and get a feel for the choices. We ended up going for a drive and I found my car. However, I didn't want any lingering doubt, so I told Nathan that I still needed to test drive the Mercedes. He was totally cool and said that made complete sense, it's a big decision and you wanna make sure your making the right choice. So four weeks and one test drive later I was calling him back to seal the deal. And it was so easy. We did everything over the phone, he made sure that I got the exact car that I wanted with all the right options. And even sent a photo when it arrived on the lot. I made the five hour trek back down and the paperwork was ready (having done their super easy online application). I was out of there and on the road in 45 minutes. I called Sonnen to get an estimate on a repair. My local mechanic had already diagnosed the problem (heater actuator motor malfunction), but didn't know how to do the repair since it was an internal climate control part, and recommended checking with the dealer, saying they likely see similar problems and know them well. When I called, the person picking up the phone, Carolina, was indignant that I would be asking them to estimate a repair based on someone else's diagnostic, and was insistent that I bring the car in for a $210 diagnostic before they would proceed. Since I'm selling the car this month I asked Carolina if she could ask someone with experience with these repairs if they may at least know the ballpark the range of what this could cost before I came in and repeated the diagnostic process that I had already paid for at the other mechanic. (btw, I'm a mechanical engineer and know how these work, the diagnostic is 5 minutes of them attaching the car to a computer from which the code tells them the problem - OK they're a business and want to make profits but insisting on repeating this process for $210 borders on theft). After she went on hold, someone from the service came on. He spent zero time trying to understand the problem and what I already knew about it and just wanted to make a point by being very rude and condescending that there's no way he could make an estimate, or even ballpark the possible range of costs, without a diagnostic (despite the diagnostic already being done). He was raising his voice and implying that I knew nothing about how cars are serviced. "You want me to just GUESS the cost?" he yelled (that's why it's called an "estimate", no?) The root of the issue seemed to be that I was even asking questions about their repair process and suggesting an alternative, less costly approach. My sense is that this dealership is spoiled by being surrounded by overly wealthy Marin Audi drivers that have no clue or interest in what actually is wrong with their car and have no problem paying exorbitant fees to get things repaired, and therefore Sonnen expects their customers to shell out hundreds or thousands of dollars for each visit no questions asked. I certainly would never call them for a repair again. read more

Great experience. One of the best at any dealership I've dealt with. Went in for a very minor leak to be looked at and repaired under warranty. They had a long wait time due to understandable circumstances, but called me back to get me in on a cancellation for an earlier date. It was much appreciated. They told me they probably would not have a loaner due to the volume of customers they were dealing with but would try to have one available; again understandable. When I arrived they processed me quickly and even offered to provide me with that loaner. Perfect. They kept on top of the repair and were very communicative during the repair. I bought a pre-owned car recently in Jan 2018 with a little scratch on the back right passenger side. The dealer informed me that they will order the parts and schedule a day with me once it arrived in two to three days. Well, this is when it gets interesting. 1) When a week and a half has passed, I haven't heard from the dealer. I texted them about the status of the ordered parts. The returned text was to verify where the scratch was (I'm thinking they didn't order it the first time). Ok that's fine, since it was around the Holidays, I get it. 2) When the parts were in, they called to schedule a day for the drop off and to verify that I will need a loaner car. To get a loaner car I guess it takes some time. Anyway, I schedule a date that was about two weeks after they called me. 3) Since I couldn't take the day of work, I asked my friend to drop off my car for me on the schedule dropped off day. It took him one hour to get to the dealer...only to find out they don't have any loaner car. They suggested for him to get a rental car. He asked how long the service would be, if it's reasonable, he'll wait. The lady who was helping him went to talk to the technicians. After some times, she came back to inform him that they ordered the wrong parts! So he has to reschedule to March. This is unacceptable. I expected so much more from Audi. I had such a good experience with Audi of Livermore. This place has disappointed me greatly. Hopefully, they order the right parts and also have a loaner car for me by the next schedule date. At this point, I give Audi Marin a 2 out of 5 stars for wasting my time and gas. Audi of Marin, you have got to get yourself together. read more
