After spending the prior day getting either hounded or completely ignored by salespeople at some other San Rafael dealerships (Lexus, Honda, Toyota, Infinity, Mazda), my experience with Neil at Audi Marin was an unexpected breath of fresh air. I began the process the night before by submitting an online inquiry regarding a pre-owned car listed on Audi's website. Neil responded quickly, offering his services and a test drive, without being too pushy. I arrived at the dealership to check out the car and give it a test drive(2016 Honda Accord Sport, priced better than anything I found at the actual Honda dealership) around 11:15am, and drove it home around 1:30pm. Neil was great, and clearly picked up on the vibe that I would like to have my questions answered, but didn't want to be 'sold' on the vehicle. It worked. We were offered coffee and treats for our dog (they're dog friendly), and we couldn't have been more pleased with the experience. Brad, our financing consultant, was great as well. I took my recently purchased 2017 Q& for the 10,000 servicing including tire issues and access computer issues I was having from the date of purchase from a different dealership. The 10,000 mile servicing was smooth and they replaced the tires. The main issue I went in as for the computer issues. I was advised that it's a sales responsibility that was not fulfilled at time of purchase. But I wasn't going back to that salesman that we were extremely satisfied with. Our service representative Gary went above and beyond in tracking someone down to assist me from the service department (and I'm sure that he had to work hard for that. He found Chayne to assist me and after several months of pain he helped fix the problem with me in maybe 20 minutes or less. They are both heroes in my book. read more

I decided to purchase an Audi A4. I looked on the internet and found a pretty good deal at Audi Marin. I called Audi Marin and spoke with salesperson, Chris Thomas. He was a non-pressure knowledgable salesperson. I told him that I would not purchase a vehicle that had dealer added mark-ups. He told me that he would do his best to help me and understand my concerns. Once at Audi Marin I meet Chris in person. He thoroughly explained everything about the vehicle and the price I would be paying. He did not try to up sell me or sneak in hidden costs. I have been purchasing vehicles for over 40 years and have never had a better buying experience. I would like to mention the Sale Manager's name, Nathan Proctor, for going above what I expected from an auto dealership. He authorized the transport of the vehicle I drove to Audi Marin to a location near my home. If I ever purchase another Audi, I'm going back to Audi Marin. You should too. read more

This is in regards to the service department. I've always had great experiences in the past until today. I scheduled a deluxe detail for my car weeks ago when I rang their service department. The woman on the phone told me the scheduled time and I asked if there were loaner cars as it's a work day and she confirmed that they do have those available. All sounds great. This especially sounds good as I live in the city, but I've enjoyed this Audi dealership with past experiences so I'll go out of my way to drive up. I come in today to drop my car off for the detail. I'm first told from the Advisor that I have product recalls and these need done first. He said that even if I were to do the detailing it'd be a few hours and it's a Friday, so no way could I leave the car overnight. I asked how long for recalls then as if those are serious they take precedent over just a detailing. This would take 4-5 hours each, and there's no loaner cars available. They're in fact so busy lately that no loaners are available until June. There is a shuttle though that can drop me off where I'd like to go for the day. That's not really an option as again I'm based in the city and have no way to get a ride back. I asked why I wasn't told this when I booked and he wasn't sure why the girl on the phone told me otherwise. As I told him I can't sit at a dealership for 5+ hours, he suggested I reschedule for May. Yet there's still no loaners and I have to figure out how to get back to the city. This lack of communication is horrid and I wasted an hour of a work day due to their employees not being able to tell me a)there's a product recall when I first called b)that loaner cars are in fact full until June. This wouldn't have been such an issue with proper communication but I've wasted time and toll money for a wasted trip. I'll be going to SF Audi from now on. read more

My partner and I moved to north bay during the beginning of Covid because we wanted to be in a safer environment with a better quality of life. So naturally with this new place of residence I want to take my car to the nearest dealer. Considering Audi to be a premium brand I would assume the costumer service would also reflect that. However, at this location that just isn't the case. I came in yesterday to get a new tire due to a big nail getting stuck and causing my tire to go flat. I do have to give credit to my advisories I worked with. Gary and Ian in the service department. They were knowledgeable and helpful when they could be. With that said I purchased the tire and came back once the car was "supposed to be finished". I arrived at the dealer 15 min after said time and my car was supposed to be next in queue to get washed. They asked me if I would be willing to wait for it to be washed up and I said of course considering all the Ashe coming from the fires and this being something offered I was willing to wait the little time. Not even two minutes-after my car is sprinting up the car ramp (delinquently) being pulled up to the front. I was puzzled as the attendant was getting out and handing me my keys. The car wasn't washed, I asked the attendant what was going on. He proceeded to tell me that I had said no and that I didn't have time to get it washed.. I corrected the man and told him I had in fact accepted the offer. He scoffs and hops back in my car and speeds back down the ramp. I notice as watch in horror, I notice my sunroof was on vent from dropping it off this morning. I think to myself, they must check that before running it through the car wash. Boy was I wrong.. when I got my car back the interior was soaked with water splatter everywhere and my seats sopping wet. The attendant this time gave me a minute hand signal and pulled my car to a further spot before giving me my keys. Being suspicious I walk over and overhear the conversation between the two attendants worried about the issue. They then proceeded to say NOTHING and pass it off as nothing happened. I immediately checked and saw the damage that has been done to my vehicle. I talked with the car wash manager with little resolution. He told me he could detail it.. that's the solution.. they act as if I have all the time in the world to be without my vehicle especially during a pandemic.. his apology was dis genuine and it seems that unless you purchase 100k vehicle or more you get treated like a peasant. I had better service when I had my Hyundai! I called today because when I got into my vehicle it smelled awful of dirty water. I was told the service department was closed and it would have to be taken up with on Monday. However I was told by Moz the sales manager that if I had purchased the car there they could be of more assistance today, but since I purchased it in San Francisco proper they were unwilling to help me due to the service department being closed. This to me is atrocious customer service! Again this is supposed to be a premium brand and this was their fault! Do not purchase a vehicle from them. Do not waste your time servicing with them. They clearly do not treat their customers with respect or gratitude. They made a mistake and have yet to give me a solid resolution to the issue. I lease this vehicle and will now possibly face charges due to water damage when I return my vehicle and this is unacceptable. read more

I was in need of a replacement used Audi for my dad whose A6 was destroyed, and called Audi Marin to find a similar car. I fortunately was helped by Amal, who took down my request and said he would research what was available. In a couple of days, he called with some candidates that I ruled out for various reasons. Amal continued his search and found a new 2017 car that was just what we needed. We made an appointment to meet Amal and purchase the car, and he had the car prepped and ready for us. My dad was happy with Amal's helpfulness in going through all the features of the car and obviously he knew a lot of the car. He was able to answer all our questions and was very pleasant to work with. The financial fellow we worked with was Chris, who was most helpful and patient. He was quick to help us fax information to where we needed and offered help whenever we were unsure whether to do this or that. I didn't feel pressured, which is an absolute deal breaker for me. Although I do not live in the area, I would purchase again from Amal just because of his quality of service. I had a bad experience this morning waiting for my ride after dropping off my Audi Q7 to be checked on. After checking in with the Service Advisor, I was directed to wait for my ride in the Customer waiting area. The Service Advisor had written my name on a list for customers waiting for their rides. I dropped my car off at 10:40 for my 11 o'clock apt. It took more than 2 hours for a regular service on my car. On top of that when I called to check the status of my car, I was told they were going to check with the technician and they would text me. 10 minutes go by no text, 20 minutes go by no text, and 30...nothing. This is a long overdue shout-out for the wonderful GLEN BROWN in the Audi Marin Service Department. While we no longer own any Audis, we still think back fondly to our service appointments with Glen. Beyond being extremely knowledgeable, Glen is just a super nice guy and always fun to chat with. He never made me feel as though any concern I had was silly; to the contrary, when a piston ring in my last Audi (a TT) failed, making the car stall and sputter on Grizzly Peak, I immediately called Glen, who had it towed and ordered a new engine for me. I know it's kind of weird to look forward to service appointments, but we did, when Glen was our service advisor. Glen is the real deal. read more

Avoid this dealership at all costs. A few weeks ago I called in inquire about a certified pre owned car and was told over the phone to come in to test drive and that the price could be negotiated lower. I left work early that day and when I arrived the person I talked to over the phone, Neil Rathnayake, had me test drive a different car than the one I talked to him about. After the test drive we went inside and started to work on the price and his Manager, Rod Helaire, said that the very most he could drop the price was $100. At that point I let them know that $100 off was not enough for a used vehicle that actually had a dent that wasn't disclosed. I left and as I was driving away Neil flagged me down to try and talk me into coming back in, and I let him know that the offer I made was my final offer. This is where the story SHOULD have ended but Neil continued to text me for the next two hours trying to make offers that did not match my final offer. He then said he was going to send me an "great" offer on a 2016, and when I told him I was not interested in anything else he had to offer and he sent me it anyway. I emailed the General Sales Manager, Rod Helaire, letting him know about my complaints regarding Neil Rathnayake and never received a reply. I did however talk to Neil Rathnayake which yelled at me asking me if I sent Rod Helaire a complaint about him. I admitted that I did in fact send Rod a complaint due to him wasting my time and money by having me come all the way from San Francisco. He yelled and used vulgar language and threatened me by saying "You don't know who you are messing with.. etc etc". Please do yourself a favor and take your business to another dealership like I did. I went to San Francisco and got a better price on a 2016 A3 (with more features) than Marin offered me on a used 2015 A3. Went in ready to buy a CPO car. Test drove the car. Had my research in hand and sat down to talk price. I stated how much I wanted to spend on the car. A 2012 model. The salesman simply said, " your not going to get thousands off the sticker. I'm not going to the sales manager". The car was about $40 k. I was asking for $35k. He never even countered. He just said, "good luck at finding your car". So, I did have fortunate luck. I took my business to San Francisco and got a BRAND new car for $43k. He was trying to sell a 2012 for $40k. I got a 2015 for $43k. Brand new. Audi Marin has poor sales experience. I would have bought that day had they negotiated. They let me walk with no counter. Unmotivated sales personnel and inflated prices will keep me away. read more

In simple terms, this place sucks. They spent how many millions on their facility and apparently can't afford to pay their mechanics because every time I've taken my car in they don't finish the work on time. Their excuses are well practiced and flow like boxed wine:"I had 3 techs call in!" It's something new every time (twice). I am not going back. They think that by making customers wait and being late for appointments they make their service facility "exclusive," to justify the prices and poor service. We were looking for a crossover suv, and it was basically down to Audi vs Range Rover. We actually LEFT the Range Rover Marin dealership after test driving and talking with them, to go check out Audi even though we loved what the salesman showed us. We went to Audi where we were completely ignored by sales people (maybe we didn't look important enough? we're young, who knows..but it shouldn't matter) and the whole vibe was off there. They first lied about a story how "just the other day a woman returned her range rover to range rover Marin because it was a bad car and she wanted an Audi." They asked us to look at their yelp reviews to see what they were referring to, and when the salesman pulled it up right in front of us, there was no review to speak of. LOL. Awkward. Don't try mudslinging as a sales tactic, Audi, it doesn't look good on you. We drive right back to Land Rover Marin and the super professional salesman there was happy to help us purchase our first car together. The fact is, we probably could have been convinced to buy an Audi had the whole experience been better, and had they treated us better. The vibe was very sleazy, I wouldn't recommend it. read more

Unfortunately, my girlfriend and I just wasted an afternoon driving to this location to buy a car that had already been sold. Neil, the salesman, told us he would text us if the car we were interested in was sold (which for him to say this in the first place was kind of sketchy). Not only did he not text us, he scolded us upon arrival for not texting him - even though during our previous phone call we clearly stated we were on our way. After 45 minutes, when the other salesman who was helping us finally realized the car was no longer in their inventory, they tried to push us towards a similar model and leased options. Although pressure from car salespeople is expected, this was just the final straw in an overall negative experience. Overall, we felt like we were misled by Neil, who wasted our time and was entirely unapologetic. read more

Wow. This place is unbelievable. My husband and I had been looking at a used car. According to them, the car had passed all tests and was in "perfect condition". We took their word for it. They were friendly up until we agreed to take the car. As soon as we had paid and completed the contract, they handed us one key. We asked for a spare and they said that there is no need for a second key (who are they to decide?), but since we were originally from Fresno and we were happy to get the car, we didn't say anything about it then. We paid $500 to get a spare key programmed. Whatever, over it. No big deal. Little did we know. A few days later, my husband had a business trip to LA and took the car. He was tired from a long drive and tried pushing his seat back to take a nap. The seat twisted to the side. Huh? That's weird. Decided to just call the dealership and have them fix it. Called several times, but nobody answered. Also weird. So my husband and I went back to this Audi to consult our dealer. General Sales Manager, Rod Helaire, demanded that we had no proof that the seat was broken before we bought it and called us liars who broke the seat and wanted a cheap repair. How professional. He essentially insisted that all responsibility was on our hands as soon as we made the deal, which would have been understandable had the seat been properly conditioned before sale. This was barely a week after we had bought the car. My husband had never even used the recliner until the business trip. We may be Asian, but we aren't cheap. We invested big for this USED, ILL-CONDITIONED car, and they, although completely capable, were unwilling do a simple seat repair. Not only did we waste gasoline to get down there, but we're also we're paying $2000 to get the seat fixed elsewhere. On top of all of that, we were completely disregarded by the sales manager, and the racial discrimination was evident. Even a white lady that saw the situation unfold agreed that the sales manager was being irrational and racist. She herself knew that he would not treat her the way he treated us. As a small restaurant manager and waitress, I find it puzzling that businessmen like you treat your clients like animals considering they pay you big bucks for your services read more

Even in the midst of a rain storm and rainy weather, they still insisted on cleaning the hell out of my car. We're very happy Audi owners, looking to upgrade our A4. But we won't be buying from Audi Marin. Never before have I entered a car dealership without being greeted or even acknowledged. It took 10-15 mins before we were approached. The salesman said hello to me, but then kept walking, heading over to my husband instead. Shortly after, two other salesmen did the same thing. We're shopping for a high end car, of which I will be the primary driver. I want a good relationship with the dealer, and heads up Audi Marin - letting customers wander around and then being blatantly sexist isn't the way to initiate a good relationship. The service department is terrific. My experience with Glenn Brown with 3 cars over 6 years never disappointed. As professional as it gets. I just returned a leased A 3, (from another dealership, by the way), and looked through their inventory of pre-owned cars. I ended up buying an older car, not an Audi, and was treated with the same level of professional service as if it is was a top of the line Audi. Sales manager Nathan Proctor sets the tone for a calm, no high pressure experience. His associate Alex Nekouy was helpful and patient, even on an older non Audi vehicle. I was impressed! read more

I unfortunately got a flat tire on the way to Napa and happened to be near the Audi Marin service center. So I stopped in hoping they would be able to help. They were absolutely AMAZING! Everyone I dealt with was so nice. I told them my sister was in town visiting, and they offered me a rental car so that we wouldn't ruin our day waiting for the tire to be patched. Even though I live in SF, I'm thinking of making the trip here for service just because of the great experience. What happened to bend over backwards those are FAKE REVIEWS this place discriminates to ASIANS and FILIPINOS. On Oct. 29th I found the Tesla I wanted from Marin Audi and kept in contact with the dealer I finally made it to Marin Audi on Nov. 2nd I was assured that the car will be ready for me to test drive upon arriving the Tesla was not cleaned and was o% charge, we waited for 3 hours and yet the car was not charging so I left disappointed. I was called by the sales rep to come by on Monday if I was still interested, so I drove back to San Rafael and took the test drive and I was happy with the car. The Sales Manager appraised my car and filled out the sales contract and showed me the financed I called my credit union that they will be forwarding the sale contract that we agreed on. Manager signed the loan paperwork for my Credit Union that afternoon the bank received the contract and over nighted them the payoff of the car. Nov.10th I was called to come in to pickup the car. Upon arriving I was told that they made a mistake on the contract and I have to come up with additional funds cause of their 7k mistake. I ask if we can meet in the middle since they already finalized the paperwork with the bank and cashing the check that they received from my bank. The Sales Manager apologized and he can't help me out. The Sales agent contacted me that night and text me and sent pictures "Are you going to let go that beautiful car for 7k?'' I said WOW! As a car buyer are we allowed also to illegally break a signed document if we don't like the figures in a legal contract that we signed and return the car? I don't think so they'll tell us that the bank already processed the payments. read more
