This is more than the worst automotive experience that I have ever had. This is the most incompetent organization of any kind that I have ever encountered. Let's start with their "sales team." I visited this dealership with the intention of purchasing an Audi, and was able to determine the exact vehicle that I was interested in. (Black/black Q5, with the "black optic" package and the heating and cooling "packages." This exact vehicle was not on the lot, so the salesperson conducted a computer search, after which she assured me, quite definitively, that the car I wanted was not available anywhere in the country. I was on the verge of buying a car that was not my ideal, but that night I did a search of my own, and found TWO of the exact cars I wanted, at a single dealership just down the road in San Antonio.
Later, in describing this experience to other knowledgeable persons, I found widespread agreement that this is a horrendous dealership.
Later, though, when it was time for a scheduled service, and considering that the other dealership in town was many miles away, I figured, what the hell, how badly could they screw this up? I soon got my answer.
When I delivered the car, I was informed that a recall software update had to be performed as well. I said fine, call me when it's ready. At the end of the day, two days hence, I received a call informing me that my car was ready, and I indicated that I would be in at 2:30 the next day, which I was.
When I arrived, no one had any idea to expect me. The paperwork had not been done, so they had to start all over. Moreover, the guy at the register tried to charge me for the recall work. Also, when I originally came in, I brought a coupon that the dealership had sent out, offering a discount on said service. No one seemed to know anything about that, either. Further, the car, which they were supposed to clean, was filthy.
Additionally, I noted that they had failed to replace a small plastic piece that they had removed. Later, I was informed that the piece was "broken," and they offered to order a replacement, at my expense. I said absolutely not, that the piece was clearly not broken when I presented it to them. A couple of managerial levels later, they finally offered to provide a replacement.
Two and half weeks later, I called to inquire about said part. The people in the service department again professed to know nothing about this. Then they forwarded me to some guy in parts, who said they might have something like this, but he had no idea where it was.
At this point, I asked to speak with the service manager, who said he had the part in question, and that I should ask for him when I came in.
The next day, when I arrived, he brought out a huge monstrosity, which bore absolutely no resemblance to the part I had presented to them (which was roughly an inch and a half wide and a few inches long).
I asked what the hell that was, and went on to opine that this was the most dysfunctional organization I had ever seen. At this point, some manager guy told me to leave, that he would not be providing service to me. I pointed out that we were not talking about "service," but rather a part of mine that they had broken and needed to replace, and that I would not be leaving until we straightened this out. At this point, believe it or not, he threatened to call the police. I said fine, they would be on my side, and besides they have better things to do.
Eventually, as he realized the cops were not coming, he gave me his card, and said I could call him to talk about ordering the part. I pointed out that this was kind of a ridiculous plan, since we were both there, and he could simply promise to order it then and there. He did, and I left. We'll see, probably more to come. read more
