For $3k we feel we should be able to listen to music when we're driving especially on a 7, yes 7, hour road trip but instead we're both pissed and music less AGAIN. First was referred to Audio Images by a good friend who built his own system. First time I went in, everyone was very helpful and Jeff (the owner) helped me pick out some 12 awg cable for my sub. I was a first time builder and he was very kind and helpful. A few weeks later, I went back to get some connectors that I could not find anywhere else, Jeff and his team gladly sold me a handful of them so I could finish my project. A couple weeks go by again and I am finally finished with my system. I tuned it for the first time and it sounded great but I wanted more. I called Jeff and he said he could tune my gains and crossovers no problem. I brought it in and within 30 minutes Jeff had turned my system from good to amazing. Jeff and his guys at this store are pretty friendly overall, and helped me understand more about car audio. I got a JL sub installed about a month ago. No complaints about the sound, quality productz Props to them for shrink tubing all cables and making it a clean install. Earlier this week, I was messing around with the audio settings on my car and realized that I wasn't getting any bass if I fade the sound to the right (meaning only bass was playing if the left was on). I went back into the shop and asked about this, and all they really said was "nothing is wrong with the install, it was all done correctly". I continued explaining how the sub should be connected to both rear speakers for proper installation. What REALLY pissed me off was that the guy I talked to turned it around and said "well if you had told us the day of install that you wanted it to be connected to both, then we would have done so. I asked for some sort of compensation and the only thing they could offer me is to connect the other side at no cost (other than my time...). From this experience, I would have just wished places were more transparent with these things, and would just get the job done the right way the first time. I'd recommend doing business with other shops, who would be completely honest with their customers and not take the short cuts. Car shops make their living off the labor, so why not do it right and be honest to your customers to retain a good lasting reputation? Beats me. read more

Ok so it's been about a year since i got my car set up with audio images. I brought my own alarm, amplifier and sub. Bought new speakers from them and power door locks. Evrrything has gone to shit since. The power door locks have went out twice already. They fixed it once already and frankly i dont want to bring it back because the locks there using are probably not good. Going back to when i first got it they left it extremely dirty in the trunk saw dust every where and overall not really clean. Since then the front speakers are blown and i told him about it when i last took it in for the locks but he either forgot or ignored it. The last straw was the custom box they built, When i left i asked how stout was it because drive like a jackass. He said it wouldnt move. So a few days ago i open the trunk and the box and sub is thrown upside down and it was a mess. They used self tapping screws from the back seat frame into the box. Sub weighs 65 lbs by itself and the box easy another 40. So those tiny self tappers fell out course. So i now i have to do all or the work or find someone whos going to care a little more. read more

Today it was the first time that my son had time and looked at the fuse box and checked it with factory arrangement of fuses, and found out that Audio Images did not put F83 fuse that is for blower back on its right place (you put it on F05 spot instead of its F83 spot) when they were checking the fuses, and that was why the blower and AC was not working anymore. If Audio Images workers are so careless that not only inserting fuses in wrong spots after taking them out , or do not know how electric of a car works even after 3 of you spent 30 minutes on it then I feel sorry for your customers that think you guys really know your work and trust you with their car repair. btw, you guys also snap and broke the hinge of the fuse box cap when you were opening/closing it. read more

They installed my aftermarket bestbuy stereo for me for a very fair price. Tried to do it myself but kept failing. They found the factory amplifier had died which checking for totally flew over my head. They ripped out the amp, rewired my cables, and got it installed along with the mic & usb dock input. Returned for a second helping because my sidemirrors ended up dead after they installed the stereo. They fixed it in 20mins w/o charge. They could've tried hoodwinking me and deflect liability but they really did take care of my ride by the end of it. P.S. Could've gone to bestbuy for a slightly cheaper price, but bestbuy is always backlogged by (3) weeks and it's always done lacking detail(exposed running wires). The Audio Images techs ensure it's all mechanically & aesthetically satisfactory. They're getting my return business. read more

Jeff and his team did an outstanding job of installing the new Pioneer head unit I also purchased from them, which looks awesome in my 2005 Toyota Camry. They were very communicative, honest guys, and great at what they do. No companies about the unit itself and the 7 inch screen fit perfectly where my old unit was. He took the time to explain what went on in the process and how everything works. We set an appointment today and wow, what a difference! The sound is significantly better than before; I don't want to leave the car. Now I'm considering on replacing the back speakers, too. I went to Best Buy and bought a car stereo and was told they couldn't install it until May, so I turned to Yelp and found Audio Images. Called them up and they were able to get me in that day. So i get there and they go to install it and it's too big; they would have to tear the dashboard apart and I was like, NOPE, not going to rip apart my sweet ride. So Ruben shows me a simple Alpine stereo that would fit my car and my needs for the same price as my B.B. stereo. After it was installed, Ruben showed me how to operate the thing; I am not tech savvy, and told me I can come by any time with any questions I have. So the other day I went by after work and he showed me how to get Spotify to work and other Bluetooth devices because I have no idea what I'm doing. This will be my first yelp review, and I couldn't think of a better place to write it. I had my Subaru hatchback in a few months ago to get a Sub and Amp wired and installed. I went in for something unrelated but they were so nice to me, fixed the problem and didn't charge me. Now that's what I call customer service. Someone messed up my car's hand held remote lock. One of the guys understood immediately, re-programmed it, showed me what to do next time and did not charge me. They were working on a Humvee from Desert Storm; it had a bullet would; may have taken a bullet for a soldier so I saluted the Humvee :-). I wish I could remember the young man's name who helped me. Had a few grand in my pocket and wanted to see about putting in an aftermarket stereo with the the focal speakers I had read about. Only a few authorized dealers around and these guys have good yelp reviews so i went to check them out. Like Best Buy, this store has a couple front listening areas to sample the sound. It's not intuitive, however, so I wasn't able to figure it out. Approached the counter guy but he didn't know how to work it either. After waiting around without anyone helping, I started to feel like an idiot so ended up walking. From the other reviews, I am sure they can do good work on your car. Perhaps I caught them on a bad day but yea, 2 stars as I've experienced better. If you are going to check them out, I recommend calling ahead to set up an appt rather than dropping by. One of the last car stereo shops left in SM County. I've been into car audio since the late 80s and to find a good shop that stands behind their work and can get it right the first time is quite difficult. I've been to shops in the past that really have no idea what they are doing, including one that installed an amp in the wrong location and crossed the wires, ended up with it catching on fire while in motion. Audio Images (AI) has been around for years, with the current owner, Jeff being there for a little over 3 years. I met Jeff while he was an installer at VIP a few years back, when VIP closed down, Jeff bought out AI and became the new owner. AI is located on the busy street of California Ave about 2 blocks South of Broadway in Burlingame. They have a really nice showroom and are authorized on brand such as Pioneer, Focal, MB Quart, Clarion, and JL Audio. Their services range from simple drop-in factory replacement systems to full show systems with multiple subs and TV screens. AI has done work for many local hiphop celebs as well as athletes from the Warriors to the niners. I went to them recently to drop in a Pioneer navigation unit into my car. This is probably one of the few shops that actually gets the work done before they tell you its ready. Most shops are usually a good hour or two behind, I dropped off my car around 1pm and was told to be back at 4 to pick it up. I got dropped off a little early, around 3ish and it was already finished and waiting for me. The installer went through the operation of my new unit and answered all my questions and explained how they set everything up. They even went as far as installer extra wiring in case I wanted to add an amp, sub, backup camera, etc in the future. Definitely give AI a A+ for their work and great customer service. read more

Summary: superb job, professionally done with cheer, kindness, and speed. And all at a very reasonable price. Highly recommended. This place doesn't have a website; don't bother looking. It looks like it's run by a couple twenty-something punk rocker car audio nuts and it pretty much is. If you can get past that, they can hook you up in style for cheap with a job well done. My friend went from a car with no speakers (big holes in spots) and a jacked headunit (no display) to four badass speakers and a great MP3 headunit with aux in for $300 total parts and labor. They even tossed in bigger speakers in back "to better fit in" and didn't charge us anything for it. They were done in about two hours with no appointment. Amazing. I decided that I needed a subwoofer to improve my car stereo, and wanted to go somewhere close to home. I read the reviews, and decided to check the place out in person. I met with Jeff who helped me narrow down what I wanted, wrote me an estimate and even squeezed my installation in the same day, even though they had a garage full of cars already. Jeff didn't try to sell me more than I needed, and took the time to give me options. While they were installing the amp and sub, they noticed that my battery was severely corroded. When they called me to let me know and ask me what they should do, I was sure that I would not have my car back for another day. But they promised to get Interstate to drop off a new battery and still have it all done by the end of the day. They were true to their word, and did a great job.
