We love Le Moulin and have only had delicious dinners here. We recently came with friends, sat outside snd had a fabulous dinner. Two of our guests had the house special: Trout Amandine, I had the Poilet Roti (which might have been one of the most delicious chickens, I've ever eaten) and another guest had the Vol Au Vent. We shared Creme Brûlée and their Trio Chocolate Dinner which was an absolutely outstanding cake that's hard to describe but definitely worth ordering! One of the unique aspects of the restaurant is that they also sell a great selection of French cookies and other packaged goods in addition to other desserts and chocolates. Le Moulin a Cafe attempted to charge me $22 for the egg and croissant today, Sunday (as it is now only comes with a salad and is marked up for weekend brunch). When I noted I was a regular and as a single wasn't planning to take up a table, just wanted the egg croissant to go, I was refused, with the note that the normal price ends at 9:30 on the weekends. To note it was 9:45 and the place was not yet that busy... So they lost my respect - and money to Julien Boulangerie a few doors down. Lovely guy there sold me an equally delicious (though premade) sandwich for $9. Moulin - please consider permitting a pickup price for weekends. I'd think that'd be a win-win, versus turning down customers, especially ones who have been patronizing your business for literal years. read more

An extremely disappointing services experience. Brought my laptop, asked for permission if it would be ok to use it while I enjoyed a cappuccino and chocolate croissant while sitting in 50 degree and empty outdoor tables at 11am. At 1130, a man came out and didn't even bother asking if I would like anything else and said I would have to leave as laptops not allowed. No acknowledgement or thanks for the business I gave, and no extended offer if I would like to actually spend more (I would have...). There's a lot of good cafe options in the neighborhood. I recommend going somewhere that appreciates the money you choose to spend with them. read more

Le Moulin Cafe was an accidental find one morning during my walk. I saw the outside seating and peeking inside I decided it looked like a good place for a light meal. I was definitely correct. I had to control myself at the front counter. There's a lot of pastries in the showcase. This place is not only a cafe but a store plus they will prepare gifts for your special occasions. I saw a customer using his laptop and one lady reading a book. There were two ladies chatting over coffee by the fireplace in the rear. It's a cafe where you can relax. The employee at the front counter was so nice and smiling. I looked over the whole place and took lots of photos of the cute decor. It's spacious and comfortable whether you're alone or with a friend. They open early for breakfast. I took photos of a couple of the menus. It took two visits for me to take in the whole scene. Like most of our neighbors on Second Avenue, we have, for the past decade, gone up Second, or Third or Lex, when looking for a nice restaurant for dinner. Honestly, never thought about going up First, let alone, York Can't explain what was different tonight, but we headed over to York. Thankfully. Found Le Moulin, and can't fully express how thankful we are. This place is A-1 all the way. My wife had the special grouper, and I had the duck breast. Both fabulous. Truly, beyond fabulous. I visited New York City recently with a friend, and we met up with one of her friends who lives on the Upper East Side for coffee. She suggested we meet at Le Moulin. It is a really cute, little café. They have plenty of seating inside, as well as a few little tables outside. We sat outside and enjoyed our coffee and snack. They have a case full of yummy looking pastries and treats! I tried the Macarons which were delicious. They also have a full breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu. The person at the cashier who maybe a manager was rude and should learn customer service particularly tone. It started with a very simple request and a horrible experience after. I've been to Le Moulin many many times and it was terrific. Maybe new management -- it was the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. It's hard to believe this experience happened at a restaurant I had enjoyed. I haven't been there for the last year ... What a devastating change in attitude. Moulin is a wonderful neighborhood gem. The dining room is pleasant, but when it is warm out, they have outdoor seating. Food is outstanding and is a great value for the money. For morning breakfast, they offer excellent croissants and other pastries with a full array of coffee and espresso. The lunch and dinner menus are diverse, but with lots of French classics - onion soup, crepes, salad niçoise. Their fries are among the best in the city; ditto their hamburger. Dinner is delicious, and there is a good, but limited wine list. My wife thinks their salmon is about as good as it gets. I like their steak. Service is always friendly and helpful. One negative is that they don 't take reservations, even for large groups. read more

Of course they also speak English and take US dollars, but basically you may as well be in Paris or maybe Nice... In the summer the tables outside are covered in coffees and pastries.
