I went to see, Me n U and Forester here last night. It was general admission. Got a stamp for being 21+ on my right wrist and a stamp for verifying my ticket on the left wrist. Then went through the metal detector. It was fast and efficient. They closed off the top level and only opened the floor area. There's a bar on the right side as you enter the floor. They offered complimentary cold water and cups. Next to it was the bathroom. If you go over to the left side appears to be the VIP area but only half of it was roped off. So we mostly hung out on the other half which had a great view over everyone's heads and there was room to dance. There was also a small seating area here too. The only issue we had was once in a while we can smell the bathroom which wasn't pleasant. When we left the venue, the staffs said, "good night" which was nice.

I love this venue! I've gone to a good number of shows here (Sinead Harnett, Jenevieve to name a few) and thought it was a very spacious venue, however can get p crowded so get there early! ADA Seating: Be sure to email in advance and provide the number of people in your party. Note that there is limited bench seating + foldable chairs towards the front corners of the stage. The line to get in can be long, so dress warm and get there early enough to wait in line!

My view of the stage from the accommodated seating section.

My family and I just saw a show at August Hall, and honestly, this venue really blew us away. My good experience with August Hall actually kicked off several weeks before the show. I was so excited to see my son's favorite singer was coming somewhat close to us, but when I saw the ticket page said "GA, standing room," I was worried we'd have to skip it. But I reached out to their box office about needing some accessibility accommodations for seating, and the staff answering emails (big shout-out to Melissa!) were super helpful in getting it all sorted. When we finally got there and checked in at the box office, the kind service I'd gotten via email just kept going. There was a tiny mix-up with how many folks were in our group for the special seating, but they quickly and happily helped us get it straight. Then, they walked us to our seats and gave us a quick rundown of the space. Throughout the night, staff even checked in on us a few times to make sure we were having a good time. As someone who's pretty new to having mobility issues and still learning to be comfortable asking for help, experiencing that kind of kindness and care was not just really appreciated, it actually meant a lot to me. The venue itself is just a great spot for a show! The band sounded awesome, and the line of sight was surprisingly great - even seated on the side in our designated area, I had no trouble seeing the stage, even with the floor totally packed with standing people. I also took my son up to the balcony for a bit, and the views up there were really good too. Service at the bar was quick and friendly, and I thought the prices were pretty reasonable for what you usually pay at places like this. And get this: the bathrooms were even quite clean (at a music club, no less!). I'd happily go back to August Hall anytime for another show. I'm truly so grateful to everyone there for making it possible for my family and I to have such a great evening together.

Formerly, Ruby Skye for all the OGs. Great venue, great staff, awesome for intimate concerts. My only gripe was that "VIP" access to the booth seating wasn't enforced very well. We could've just gotten GA tickets but VIP DID include the Meet n Greet and early access to the venue, which was totally worth it .

Went here in mid January for an Amber Liu concert, previous member of legendary KPOP group f(x), Asian-American singer that is very popular in China and the Far East, current soloist who performs in Korean, Mandarin, and English. Her SF show was entirely English. August Hall, previously known as Ruby Sky, is a smaller intimate music and dance hall with two public areas viewing the stage. First floor is primarily the dance floor and second is more like a quieter viewing area of the action or concert below. The second floor was closed for Amber's concert. Patrons go thru security to enter the facility and are checked and wrist-banded for alcoholic drinks if desired. The venue has good acoustics and the elevated stage is visible from the entire dance floor. There's a small seating area on the left side of the first floor. Bar is opposite of the stage. We had a very good time at the concert and felt safe and secure for the entire performance. Street parking can be a challenge but doable, just don't leave any valuables in the car. The Union Square parking lot is also a few blocks away.

IDK HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME - 4/2024
    Jessica T.

Went to August Hall for the first time last week to see IDK HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME in a sold out concert. Had a blast! The venue is a 5-10 minute walk from the Union Square Parking Garage. They stamped our wrists and checked our bags as we went in. There's a bar located on the first floor and another on the second floor. This particular concert was all GA, so first come, first served on both floors. I found a spot on the balcony near the stage and had a great view for the whole concert. There were also free water stations! (Stay hydrated!) The venue is pretty intimate compared to other concert venues I've been to, but I think it makes for a more fun experience since you're closer to the performers. It was my first time seeing IDKHOW live and they were amazing! Ended up buying merch too. Will definitely be seeing them again next time they tour!

One of my favorite venues to visit in the city! Closeby to a BART station, good air ventilation, and the venue is small - which calls for intimate and good views from anywhere! I have been here several times now and every experience is smooth. Thorough security, good sound quality, and friendly bartenders. Love the vibes! Can't wait to come back.

So much light in the audience and on the house decor.
    Abigail H.

Sound is great, size is great, programming is great, staff are great... So why is the lighting awful? I've been to multiple shows here where the lighting feels like I'm a department store or an awkward high school prom/talent show. Why am I able to see the details of every air vent on the multi level ceiling in the middle of Nilüfer Yanya? Why am I able to discern the color of every piece of clothing of the person in front of me during serpentwithfeet? Is it because someone in management felt it was a bigger priority to show off every mosaic, carving, and cranny of detail in this hall than create an ambiance that actually makes you focus on the musicians? It honestly feels like somebody left house lights on by mistake but it's been too many shows now to where it can't be an accident. The result is an audience that isn't able to fully focus and enjoy the music in front of them as they're distracted by that one guy head banging to the totally wrong beat in the front row or that other person who is doing tons of trips back and forth from their spot to the bar or they feel uncomfortable and aware of their body movements and less inclined to dance. The artist must feel the same way! During the show tonight if you looked up, you could see certain color lights on stage and above the audience moving to accent the songs, but their choreography was for naught as it wasn't felt or seen at all because there was so much other light drowning those ones out and making the space so unfortunately bright. Including some pictures. Easy fix August Hall! I'll still come back because you have great bands and you make them sound great, but this weakness in lighting design is so unfortunate!

We rang in the new year here on Tuesday night, and had a wonderful time. The New Year's Eve event included a Frank & Dean Show, Open Jam, and access to more music in each of the individual rooms, along with the opportunity to explore the music studios and alluring decor throughout the venue. The Frank & Dean Show was cool, with the vocalists performing tunes like Fly Me To The Moon and That's Amore, but I don't think it lived up to the capabilities of this venue, musically. It was like watching karaoke on the big stage (they already had a karaoke room downstairs, which could do the same), but it was fine, they had us smiling and vibing to the great crooner musical acts during our first hour there. The music city underground offerings had actual live music more to our liking, the various bands in each room performing a range of tunes including folk, rock, blues, and reggae. The Open Jam was even funner, creating awesome music with sounds of the saxophone, bass, keyboard, vocals, and more. I especially enjoyed getting to watch and hear my bf play the guitar, drums, and melodica (musicians can bring their own instruments, or use the house instruments). The environment was simply welcoming and laid back, with lots of talented artists simply having a good time. The service and food/drink offerings were not the best and are the biggest reason I'm not giving 5 stars. They seemed a bit disorganized in the beginning, and guests who had tickets were confused about how to find their reserved seats (not just my party, but other attendees too) and it took a while for anyone to help us. The 7:00pm show didn't start till 7:20pm, and the second show started late as well. For dinner, we had the chicken caesar wrap and fish n chips, and though they were both delicious and good sized portions, they weren't our first choices. They were out of the steak frite and salads, and possibly more. How could you be out of multiple menu items on a special event day, before the event even starts?!? They already have a limited menu to begin with, so this was definitely a turnoff. Nonetheless, can't deny, Music City SF is still a pretty amazing music venue with a lot of potential. And we certainly had a memorable experience.

My boyfriend and I came here to see TK from Ling Tosite Sigure (real anime heads know - Tokyo Ghoul, Psycho Pass, etc. or if you're a fan of math rock). We got the GA tickets and waited in the line for the venue around 40 minutes before the show. We were still in the first 100 or so people in, we were in the line when it curved the corner near the other shopping plaza near the bus stop, so it wasn't too fisted when we went. This was absolutely not the case for the LA show, so the vibes in NorCal versus SoCal are completely different. Staff was welcoming (as best they could) and efficient in checking us in and security was friendly in what they had to do. Much better than some of the other venues I've been to. You have to go upstairs to get to the live house concert stage area. It looks very high end with the lighting, curtains, balcony area, and chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. It's not as grandiose as say the Mayan (RIP), but nice nonetheless. We were probably 3-4 layers of people from the front, but was able to see all of the band members quite well and I was accidentally in the band's Instagram post (with my very funny and cooked back posture). Sound quality was great and really highlighted not only TK's vocals, but the technicality and skill he has on guitar (dude had to swap guitars between each song), as well as all of the support members (their support drummer from Crossfaith has such good stage presence). Nothing sounded too drowned out or overpowering. Good acoustics. The merch table was at the side and I didn't pay too much mind to where the bar was. When walking up stairs I was wondering where to go and loudly asked that question and a kind staff working the coat check in the opposite direction pointed to where to go. I think my only qualm though is the stairs that everyone has to take up, and more importantly down since it gets super crowded. However, they do have an accessible elevator for those who may require it or are ADA. What I love about this venue is the apples they give attendees. Great post concert snack. Sweet and crispy apple. I really love that they do this. And apparently this was the only tour stop that had a free poster with the artist playing too. Love that extra goodie for concert goers since I didn't purchase any merchandise. If there's a band or musician that I know is going to go to the Fillmore, I'm going to try to make the show since I really enjoyed it here!

1 Star - Awful Manager and Staff Experience…read more We attended the Alex Isley concert at The Fillmore and brought our 8-year-old daughter. It was her very first concert, and she absolutely loves Alex Isley. The venue was standing room only, but we found a small corner near the front where we weren't blocking anyone's view. Early in the evening, one female staff member seemed to have an issue with us, although every other staff member we encountered was friendly and accommodating. At one point, I asked a staff member if it would be okay to put my daughter on my shoulders so she could see the stage. He told me it was absolutely fine, and several other staff members nearby clearly had no issue with it. Later, the same female employee returned and began harassing my wife about our daughter being on my shoulders or standing on a bench that was not obstructing anyone's view. She made a scene unnecessarily and then escalated the situation to a manager. The manager arrived and was just as rude. Although I complied immediately because I didn't want to create a scene in front of my daughter, we felt singled out and bullied throughout the interaction. Ironically, other concertgoers immediately tried to help by offering our daughter space in front of them so she could see the performance. Even more telling, a member of Alex Isley's security team witnessed what happened, approached us afterward, and kindly arranged for my wife, daughter, and me to meet Alex after the show. That completely made our daughter's night and turned what could have been a very disappointing experience into a special memory. The kindness shown by Alex Isley's team and fellow concertgoers stood in stark contrast to the behavior of The Fillmore's manager and this particular staff member. Because of this experience, I will not return to The Fillmore and cannot recommend the venue to others. 1/5 stars.

When we saw Dr. Dog here, the band surprised the whole audience with pizzas and they were all passed around and we ate pizza while watching Dr. Dog. The sight lines are great everywhere and I have always been pleased with the sound. There's also a cool arcade down the street and the BBQ place across the street is excellent. I also want to say the staff here is like the best venue staff I have ever encountered. We had an issue a few months ago and each of the door staff were so patient and kind as they tried to help us figure out the situation and in the end it all did work out. They really weren't obligated to do that for us, but they saved our night. Thank you to the Independent staff!

Came here for Junny's Null tour and was pleasantly surprised with the venue and their staff. Staff…read morewas friendly, informative and very organized! Instructions were clear and the staff pre-checked everyone's ticket and bags before they started letting everyone into the venue. Staff also checked IDs if you were planning to drink and you get a bracelet as proof to show the bar. The venue/theater was decently clean and had a intimate and cozy atmosphere. Majority of the venue is standing only, with a few benches on the left and right. Near the bar is a counter table for drinks. The drinks at the bar were reasonable priced and they don't force you to buy water if you don't want to as they offer tap water on the side for free with cups! They also offered coat check near the restrooms and you can also pick up complimentary ear plugs as well! Restrooms were clean and well kept! The sound setup was a good experience. Parking can be a bit of a tough with the bars and restaurants in the area. So either come earlier to try and get a spot or Uber/Public transportation. Overall a great experience at this concert venue and hopefully they host more concerts of artists that I like in the future!
