Absolutely terrible! I have attended 5 or 6 lauas over the last 10 years on various Hawaiian Islands. True, this one is the least expensive, yet virtually every aspect atbthis laua is simply horrible. Unorganized & poor customer service. Food? ABSOLUTLEY ATROCIOUS! Not authentic, not fresh, not good. Drinks? Blue Hawaiians & Mai Tais have lil or no alcohol. Beer? Warm, foamy & tasteless. Dessert? Could not, would not, even try it. Looked at it and said "No No". The Polynesian Show? Effort = B+, many dancers are not Hawaiian, Tahitian or Samoan. Final Act of Fire Guy? He dropped the fire stick MULTIPLE times. Yet, the dancers did try to perform, they gave it their all, but knowing a lil bit about Polynesian history, they missed on several points. $100.00 for a Laua on any Hawaiian island is inexpensive, but PLEASE "step up" n spend more money and attend a Laua that is at least close to a value. By the way, I yelp about twice a year. So, for me to yelp, whatever it is O am yelping about is either REALLY good or REALLY bad. This Laua is pretty bad. read more

It's been years since we attended a luau & decided to attend the Auli'i Luau since it has such good reviews & seems to be the only one on the beach! It's such a gorgeous setting right in the ocean around sunset & staff were all extremely courteous & polite. Excellent food, everything right on time & moved like clockwork. The show was great, so many costume changes!! Wow! Definitely would highly recommend the photographer they had as well- she was so nice & we love our pictures! Thank you Kahea Photography! The show was good, cute dancers and all, but the food was not good. 2 out of 4 of our group got sick to our stomach and spent the second part of the show in the bathroom. Which was painful because the two bathrooms closest to the luau were closed for cleaning. Walking the whole resort with abdominal cramps was not ideal. The salad and cucumber bowls were empty when we got in line and weren't refilled until we had waited about 5-7 minutes because someone in line asked. Meat was yuck, macaroni salad doesn't seem real Polynesian but okay. Desserts weren't spectacular. All in all, it was like a cheap hotel buffet. Definitely not worth $90! read more

This is our second luau on Kauai. It was the best by far. We paid extra for premier seating, and we were right in front of the stage. The dancing was great, the fire dancer was amazing. The food was excellent. Even though we had about a 10 minute heavy downpour in the middle of the show, it didn't dampen our enthusiasm and appreciation. Definitely recommend this one. read more

The head dancer and her husband remembered our names from a small show a few nights before. After the show they spent time with us and gave my daughter two lei's they made themselves. I don't know why there are negative reviews because we had an amazing time. In fact, we liked this luau better than the other one we've been to in Maui. The food was good for buffet food, the music and show were great, and the location was amazingly beautiful. We celebrated my parents 50th Anniversary and we all had a great time. The only negative was the people in front of us. They kept standing at their table blocking the view of the show for everyone behind them. We had to ask them multiple times to sit down and each time they acted like we were being rude for asking. read more

Please disregard the negative reviews, this luau is great! Will you have to wait in a line at some point? Yes. But that's how buffets work. My wife and I were slightly unlucky in that we had go indoors to enjoy this due to the rain, but it was still a great show. We upgraded to the vip seats which were well worth it. First up at the buffet and closer seats. There was a huge selection of all the delicious food you'd expect and it was all cooked well and tasted great. The bartenders were making drinks so fast there was never a line. And even though we were inside a ballroom, the show was fantastic. I can't imagine what this would be like on the beach! read more

We went to the Luau on Thursday, March 15. The show and food were great. I must say however we were super disappointed that the show was moved into the ballroom. It really took a lot away, and we specifically picked this Luau because it's the only one on the beach. I believe it was moved because weather the day before was iffy. But if that's the case, I think you should have offered a discount on "premium seats" since we all sat at banquet rounds, so it wasn't like we really got "premier" seating that we paid extra for. Terrible customer service. I heard the lady shushing her kid in the background. Didn't expect that from a "Sheraton". Ignant lady on phone wasn't organized with payments in my party of 7. Then just when I thought all her attitude was behind me. 2 hours after the show ends my stomach starts to cramp. Thanks Sheraton. The two stars are for the fabulous emcee and the dancers. The entertainment was great! The location on the beach was nice. The Luau at The Sheraton Kauai last night was by far the worst Luau I have been to on the islands. The magical and authentic description online and on the itinerary is not what you get. The Lei Greeting is a cheap shell necklace handed to you by an unenthusiastic staff member, there are no pictures taken of you and your family for the scrapbook and if it rains, they don't move the luau into the Garden Pavillion where there is a hint of a beach feel, they move it into the Poipu Ballroom where you couldn't be farther from the beach, the bland room decor is like being at a nursing home and you leave feeling like you just overpaid to go to a second rate buffet at home. The dancers and MC were horribly out of place in this 3rd rate venue. I went to the manager at the event and told her how dissatisfied we were, and she would not refund our money or offer any remedy. We only stayed at the Sheraton because of the luau, big mistake! I do not recommend wasting your money on the hotel or luau. Aloha read more

We had an overall great night at the Luau last night celebrating our daughters 7th birthday. The food was great, the location, entertainment and staff were all excellent. BUT I do have one note to share, upon check in the female host told our 7 yr old, "It's your birthday! Are you ready to go on stage tonight?" My daughter turned to me and said, 'my dream is Coming true!' Going on stage was the only thing she could think about. When the Host came around and said hello and we mentioned we were celebrating a birthday, he too turned to my daughter and said,"Are you ready to go on stage and learn a dance?" She was bursting with excitement. When it came time to recognize people celebrating graduations, anniversaries, etc. the birthdays were not called on stage. There were many tears at the end of the night as all expectations had been crushed. I understand itineraries for a show need to be adjusted but I would be mindful of repeatedly telling a little girl she was going to be recognized on stage and learn a dance if you weren't sure you could keep up the commitment. read more

This was my 3rd luau in Hawaii and by far my favorite. We opted in for the premier seating and felt like it was worth it. We had valet parking, a VIP line for entering, appetizers at our table, and got to go first for the buffet dinner. The seating was amazing as we were right in front of the stage. I felt like everything ran very smoothly and most of all loved that this luau is outside, on the beach and at a smaller venue. The food was delicious and the show was very entertaining. Don't do it! By far the worse luau I've been to. Yes, it's supposed to be the only beach luau on the island of Kauai. So take advantage of that and watch it for "free" on the beach -like about two dozen people did while we were there. I paid over $500 for premier seating that put me and my family on a table on a sloped hill. WTF?!?! People from the beach would stand on the other side of a bush or to the side of the stage to catch a glimpse of the performance (closer than other paying guests). The performers did ok; However, they didn't cover all the islands nor did they start with Hawaii as most luaus do. The entire performance was short! Probably the shortest one I've ever been to. The host was corny and no where near as funny as most luaus, and I typically take my family to at least two luaus each trip. Each one having its own uniqueness about it. This one was definitely unique in its own way - because it SUCKED! This by far was a waste of money. I would not recommend! read more

I picked this luau because it was on the beach and had great reviews and we were not disappointed! This was the first luau for all seven of us in the group. There was a professional photographer so we got a nice family photo ($15) which was a bonus! We also got the VIP package which I thought was totally worth it. The food was delicious and there was something for everyone to enjoy in our group, from the carnivore to the vegan (literally). The dancing was fun and the crowd was involved from getting on the stage to hooting and hollering from our seats! The performance traced polynesian dancing through history. The MC was amazing and really made the show, even though the dancers were fantastic as well. The performers will pose for photos and chatting at the end of the show which the kids loved. As an extra aside, as the sun went down the kids got a bit cold and the waiters were kind to bring beach towels for them to keep them warm. The best thing about this were the dancers, musicians and emcee. All were terrific--sincerely enthusiastic without being "hokey" (well, maybe once or twice), tremendously talented and eager to share their culture with the audience. The food was delicious (not the poi, but it never is) and plentiful. The service staff was efficient and friendly. The only thing that keeps me from giving this five stars is the location at the Sheraton, which took away from the luau's "real Hawaii" feel. We've been to several luaus and this one was really good. Yes we had to move indoors because of the weather but it is March in Kauai. Food was good and I found many things I could eat being gluten free. Mai Tais and Blue Hawaiians flowed as did wine and beer. We were very happy we'd paid for the updated Premier seating. This event can be viewed at the Sheraton resort which has an oceanfront view and the beach right out front. I was little sad to find out that this specific luau does not have an emu, but they are able to carry-on a great presentation. It was enjoyable to take in the culture and dances of the Polynesian islands as there are differences along the way. Food and beverage (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) are provided throughout the Luau. After reading previous reviews, we didn't feel entirely confident about the catered food, but all three of us thoroughly enjoyed the options and variety provided. The audience wasn't very lively on the evening we visited so we did our best from the back to bring up the crowd with enthusiasm. We had a gracious host who did fairly well at involving the crowd. We went to this luau because it was beachfront but we're pretty disappointed. The food was average at best. The drinks while unlimited were pretty weak. And unfortunately the show was not at all engaging. This was my fourth luau (first on Kauai) and it was one of the worst. Didn't compare with the beachfront luau in Kaanapali. Also, the seating is set up so unless you are right in front it's difficult to see and hear. It is set up right next to the hotel so there is so much other activity happening on the balconies and beach that it's not at all private. read more

This Luau was awesome and a great way to celebrate. We upgraded and sat within the Premium section which I highly recommend. With the premium selection you do not have to arrive early to wait in line to get a great seat, you are assigned a seat within the first three rows. We were seated right up front. We also received a Lei when arriving which those in general did not. The food was delicious and we were able to find an allergy spreadsheet which was extremely helpful as my husband is allergic to tree-nuts and seafood. The drinks were unlimited and tasted great!! The staff at the Auli'i Luau and at the Sheraton Hotel were so great and always had a smile on their faces. At the Luau they took the time to celebrate honeymoons, anniversaries, birthdays and more. The dancing was fun and all of the staff were very kind, staying after to take pictures with the guests. We highly recommend this Luau! read more

We had missed out on going to a luau during the last trip to Hawaii, so we figured we'd try to make it to one this time around ... one of those things you should do at least once on a trip to the islands. It was a fun experience, though nothing earth-shattering (though, admittedly, I don't have anything to compare it to). The location was by far the best, located right on the beach in Poipu, in a grassy area next to the Sheraton. We went on a Tuesday, and the weather was absolutely perfect - clear blue skies, warm with a nice breeze. Apparently the luau can get moved inside if weather isn't great, but that wasn't an issue for us. The buffet had everything listed on the website, and was pretty good .. great way to sample a lot of local food all at the same time. The performances were also fun to watch. This was my first visit to Hawaii and also my first time experiencing a luau. I did a lot of research and ultimately chose Auli'i Luau based on it's proximity to my hotel, the smaller amount of guests compared to luau's such as Smith's, and the fact that it was actually oceanfront. Despite flooding happening in Princeville, the rain held out and we were still able to enjoy the luau outside as intended. We got there just before guests were allowed in so the long looked really long, but once they started letting guests in, it moved really quickly. We did the VIP seating, which put us at a table in the front row with a few other couples - perfect for us. The free drinks (mai tais and blue hawaiians) were constant, the food was excellent, and the performers were all great. Overall, we really enjoyed ourselves and were happy to have booked this luau. read more
