Our home base. We are here and drank several times and I have to say that for a hotel bar, prices were reasonable and the food was actually pretty damn good. We got the kalua pork quesadilla, tacos, and burger with the quesadilla being the star of the show. Tacos and burgers were standard fare but on the better side of average. Drinks are a bit sweet but you can ask to have it dialed back a little. Bartenders are always friendly and take care of the patrons. Highly recommend as a pit stop or home base for those staying nearby. read more

We were told to try these frozen Mai Tai's by someone At the other Marriott we were staying at. We were in the area so you decided to do a quick stop to check it out. We found a whole new bar, past the swimming pools, near the beach area. They have beautiful views of Poipu beach. We walked up to the bar, they took her order. They have it in a frozen machines, so it must be a popular order, and add the dark rum floater to it. For me, I prefer it on ice. I must say though, it did hit. It is a pretty strong one. They were $24 each which is a little steep for the size. We took our drinks down to Poipu Beach to the left and seen some Seals bathing in the sun. There's a rope around them to keep people at a distance. There were many people around taking pictures. It's during the evening about 7 o'clock when I hear the turtles and seals come up to shore. There's only one restaurant at the Marriott resort, and it's this one. It's a beachside bar and grill-and you pay for the view, not for the quality of the food. We had two meals here-more out of convenience of location than a superb experience. The service is pretty slow and if you're dining after the sun goes down, the hanging lights above the tables may not work-half of them were out. I ordered the teriyaki chicken rice bowl and it was not good at all. The second night that we ate there, I had a salad, which was much better. We did not order any drinks, besides water, so I can't attest to those. If you're in a jam and don't have time or desire to travel offsite for a meal, this is an option, but I'd recommend making time to go into town and find something else. read more

Food was good, but their $17 Pina Coladas are awful. They use two "boxes" to flavor them. Funny on an island where it is quite easy to get ingredients to make the drink and they use this awful shortcut. The drinks tasted rancid and honesty we did think something was wrong with it so took it to bartender who was arrogant and rude and made us so uncomfortable with the interaction, he didn't have to be a jerk about it. Acting like he personally sourced the crappy supplies they used to make the awful drink. We are staying at this resort and will never return to this bar there are much better options for cocktails. read more

Worst service we had in two weeks on the island. Sat down at 5:00 PM and didn't get a server for 20 minutes. Ordered a drink and took another 15 minutes for them to check back. We got pork nachos that then came out 30 minutes later.. without pork. They remade it and we ordered our meal (a single sandwich split in two) and that took forever to come out as well. All in all, we waited an hour and a half just to get nachos and a chicken sandwich. Took so long we just asked for the sandwich to go by the time it came out. For a beachside meal, you'd assume it would be quick service and decent food but it was neither. Horrible experience, barely decent food. read more

After spending the day snorkeling right out in front of this spectacular location- and literally having a Sweet Honu crawl right up out of the Kiki beach water and come say hi to me on the sand!... I had to come to the Honu bar to watch the surfers at sunset! Gorgeous! The drinks are very tasty. The staff very friendly. I had a tai chi :-) you can take it out to the lawn chairs and sit there right at sunset and just soak up all the beautiful surroundings. We had a group here on Friday night. We had a few appetizers ( pork nachos and poke). The drinks were ok. Kids had virgin daiquiris. We had the mai tais and the guava Mai Tai. They were ok. We also ate Mahi Mahi fish and chips which were ok This place is not as good as it has been in the past. Mostly new staff and they don't seem as engaged as in the past. The food quality is definitely going down. It's like they know you are a captive here and don't seem to care if people come back. We are here for a week and won't go back. It would be much better if they seemed to care about what they were sending out. Overall the service was ok. read more

Friendly, Aloha service with tropical drink specials daily. The best bacon cheeseburger on Kauai and tasty Parmesan truffle fries with a hint of garlic. The fresh fruit served in a pineapple bowl is sweet, cool & refreshing. The grilled chicken caesar salad is large enough to share. Horrible service. Waited over 30 minutes for someone to take our drink order. Then the server came back with no drinks, stating they didn't have the beer we ordered and the white we ordered was not chilled. We ordered different drinks that finally arrived after 15 more minutes. The food was ok but certainly not worth over $100 for a hamburger, some mediocre chicken and two glasses of not very good white wine. They need to find a manager to run this place appropriately. Our server told us she was "on break" when we sat down so that's why we waited so long. How about have another server cover that table? There were three people behind the bar, two of them doing absolutely nothing. It's the only place to eat at the resort so there's no excuse to have it running so poorly. read more

Come here for the drinks, service seated at the bar and the views but don't expect much else. We had a post-beach day drink here with great, friendly service from Wade at the bar and decided in the moment we were too tired to walk back to our house rental to shower, dress up for dinner next door at Ko Kea's Red Salt. We knew we were actively making the decision to downgrade our meal plans but we didn't realize how seriously bad the food is here. We managed to snag one of the tables in the front with the ocean view for dinner and ordered several items. First off, huge change in service quality once seated at the tables. Our waiter was frazzled, distracted and hard to flag down. The other reviews don't lie that they have to run back and forth to the kitchens far away. Secondly, portions are ridiculously inconsistent. We ordered the edamame, the grilled shrimp and pineapple, Caesar salad and bacon burgers. What we received was about 100 edamame but only 6 shrimp and a few pieces of pineapple and the croutons were so small it barely made a dent in the salad. Also, swear they use the same ones as McDonald's as they were served to us in small bags. But honestly, the worst part was the flavors. The edamame, shrimp and pineapple was fine, but it was by far one of the most depressing Caesar salads and the burger had no flavor. The meat was over cooked, no seasonings, even the bacon didn't have flavor! Only every once in a while you got an awkward burst of bbq sauce from the kalua pork topping. We knew prices were going to be overinflated (it's a resort on the ocean, which means of course they're going to charge more). The food quality though is really the issue. read more
