First time here and it was quite a bad experience. I got a regular pEdicure with callus removal, gel mani & underarm wax. Pedicure- def cut my foot so deep that I have a piece of skin hanging off and my skin is so tender underneath. Yes, was cut that deep. A few bleed when removing cuticles. Manicure- I asked for a square shape and didn't get that. Additionally, during that, I was made to bleed three times. I had to ask for the shoulder massage. The wax was the only good part. I really wish I was not writing this review, but they haven't returned my email to resolve an issue they said they would. They blocked my phone number as well... I tested it with *67. I came in a few weeks ago and got my nails done with sns dip. I didn't think they'd be sparkly and asked the girl if they would be, she said no, then they turned out to be. I was like it's not a big deal, but then I felt them and the were gritty, lumpy and not smooth. They tried to file them still not smooth. They had me come back the next day, they filed them down a bit and change the color, but then they were still not smooth. The girl told me sns wouldn't be, I assured her I had been getting it for 5 years and it always was, and that this location had done my manicure I came in with smooth. So at this point they are lumpy and she puts gel on top of them without telling me what she was doing. My cuticles were bleeding after them trying to fix it. I was very upset, as I do not get gel for health reasons. I paid for the service and several tips, only to walk down the street to have them removed. When I got them removed there was light pink (the color I had before) still on my nails why made it lumpy. Meaning they had not properly removed my prior manicure. I have been on the phone with the owner who said he would help me. Nothing. He made me email someone who accused me of not switching colors, along with other excuses and false information. I literally sent pictures. In the emails they suggested I come and have them go over the color again, even though I told them I paid to have it removed and that I was already leaving for 10 days. But that was their option, they told me to come back with what I thought was fair and I said a refund, as in the span of 2 days I paid for the nails, 2 tips, for the nails to be removed and then for a new set somewhere else. This experience cost be over double what it should. Since saying that they have not responded to my emails. Just be aware, they say they want to help but they don't. If you are in a rush they do nails quickly but beware they don't remove all of you previous manicure before. read more

I called before going on Friday to make sure I can get a pedicure and they said I can get it at 5pm, came a bit early, picked out the colors (they were color coordinated which made the selection much easier) and then I was seated exactly at 5. Service was quick for the regular pedicure, took about 25mins for me but will probably depend on the technician. She gave me the option to stay in the pedicure chair while I wait for them to dry which I really appreciated. Definitely try out this place. We were running late for our appointments (and called to share our ETA) and unfortunately when we got there were told that we could not have the full pedicure service we'd reserved as there was not enough time. I understand having scheduled appointments but have never experienced this before, most places have enough staff on hand that it's not a problem. I also had asked for a French style pedicure with a glitter layer over it and was told that wasn't done. But when we proceeded with just glitter the stylist didn't like it and said I needed to do white under it and started over, only to run out of time and not put much glitter on my left foot. Absolutely terrible experience here. I came in as a walk-in and was told they could take me. I go to look for my color for a mani-pedi Nikki approaches me and snatches the color right out of my hand. I didn't even decided that's the one I wanted. But fine. She was so rough and careless throughout the entire pedicure. I really think my presence there bothered her lol. I truly didn't want to get a manicure from her but I felt uncomfortable saying that. Before the manicure started- she asked me to pay- which I did. I'm always tip after the service is done, before I leave. She literally say there and stared at me waiting for me tip here which I felt was incredibly rude. My third time here was really nice. I got a last minute appointment two hours before they closed. I went in for a SNS dip powder set. The appointment itself was amazing! I got ginger tea and the lady who took care of me was nice and talkative. I left the appointment feeling great and I thought my nails looked good too! I got home and after further inspection, I noticed a couple things that didn't look right. I had an odd bump on one nail. I also noticed that she had painted my nails and had gotten some on my cuticles. Currently, a week and a day later, my nails are lifting from my cuticles (almost all of them). All in all I have to say that the experience of coming to this salon is always nice. For the prices, I should expect a little more attention to detail. This salon is alright. I've been here before and had good experiences but today was not the best. Let me start off with saying that they are pretty quick.. I'm usually in and out of there in an hour (getting a manicure AND pedicure). This is great if you are in a hurry, but I feel like my appointment is always rushed. I think my nail technician massaged my legs for a total of 60 seconds each today, which is not long. I've had massages at other salons for 5 minutes included! I understand if the place is busy and they have people waiting, but it usually is me and two other people there when I'm there (since I go midday on weekdays). I expect to be at the salon for at least 90 minutes. It just doesn't feel like they take their time. Today was not a good experience at all. I walked in with a regular man/ped scheduled (I usually get gel manicure/reg pedicure but my nails broke and I don't think gel is worth it when mine are so short). My nail technician immediately asked me if I wanted gel and I said no bc mine are too short to which she said she could add a tip (I never get tips) so I said no I was fine with regular. Once I sit in the pedicure chair, she says there's a $10 fee to remove the previous gel polish on my nails. They've never charged me before for this and she said it's when you change from gel to regular and they don't charge when it's gel to gel (even though they do the same removal: wrap in tinfoil, scrape, buff and file). I've been at salons before that charge for this but It's normally $3-5, I thought $10 was a bit steep and outrageous (Also, not mentioned in their website). At the end (done in an hour), I go to pay and the total is $63. A regular manicure is $20 and a reg pedicure is $33. With the added removal fee the manicure comes out to $30 which is only $10 short of the $40 gel manicure, which is ridiculous. Lastly, on their website it stated a pedicure was $30, so I asked her why it was $33 and showed her the website and she asked the manager to which she came back and said that he pretty much said "it is what it is, the website just hasn't been updated." I ended up paying the full amount. I get its only $3 but just shitty customer service in my opinion. All in all, it's a nice salon and I've had good experiences there (friendly nail technicians and liked my nails). But with the higher prices and aesthetic, you'd think there would be better service overall. read more

Prior to coming to Aura Day Spa, I've gotten SNS for about two years. It's popular in Texas, when I moved to the DMV area, I didn't find SNS anywhere, so I found a place that did good gel nails. I began working in Arlington, found this place and got excited! Tried it out 2 times, and don't think I'll be coming back :/ The nail salon is spacious and very clean, which I loved. The man working is there is amazing and makes sure you feel right at home. If they offer you anything to drink, get the ginger tea, ITS AMAZING. The first time I came, I asked for Tina. All the Yelp reviews suggested her for SNS, so I wanted her. Well even though I made an appointment with Tina, she assured me that all the people were trained by her and are great, so suggested I went with them. I did as she said, and went with another technician. I liked the lady I had, she wasn't bad at all, but I definitely wasn't blown away. After paying 65 for the SNS set and Mani...I expected to be blown away. I also got a pedicure, so I walked out spending 95 dollars. I'm a big fan of the saying, you pay for what you get. If I pay 95 dollars for my nails...I expect them to blow me way. After that, I decided hey, let's give it another try. Made an appointment for 4:45, just to get my SNS redone. Again, the guy at the front...amazing. They wrapped my nails promptly, but didn't actually get started on my nails until 5:30...I thought that was a little too long. Other people that came after me had nail techs with them already. I found it strange that no one came to thank me for waiting or assure me that someone would get to me. People were leaving before I did, that came after me. I came at 4:45, didn't leave u too 6:30, and all I got was SNS on my hands. I stopped in for a gel removal and application on a weeknight in late May. They had a few customers in the store, and great Yelp reviews, in addition to gorgeous interior design. The staff was courteous and greeted me quickly. They quoted me $10 for gel removal, and approx $40 for gel application. I had 45 min available to do this, and thought it would be plenty of time given that I get gel manicures regularly. Pretty pricey considering this isn't Bliss Spa but rather a drop in street side nail shop. Alas, I trusted the reviews and because I was short on time I went for it. I sat in the chair for 5-7 min waiting for a tech to address me and begin work. It was not packed, and at any given time there were 3 techs at the desk and the sinks without clients. My technician painstakingly wrapped my nails in tin foil and acetone to remove the gel, but then used one of those spin files I haven't seen since the 1990s to remove my polish. Not the best for your nails, but she was gentle. After 25 plus min of this we still weren't near getting the manicure portion much less polish application. That said, I needed to leave within 15 min. I apologized and explained I would need to curtail the treatment due to time and I'd simply go with removal and no polish. A 1 min soak in warm water, squirt of lotion and I was sent on my way. The manager charged me $20. I kept explaining it was just removal, no polish or manicure at all, but he spoke limited English and kept saying that gel would be $40 or $45 if I upgraded polish. This was just confusing! I tried a few times to explain this but it made no difference to them. I had to pick up my daughter at school, so I couldn't stay and try to work this out. So all in, yes I got a polish removal, which was fine, but no manicure to speak of, just a simple filing, and this is my nails now. So, I won't be back! They seemed to rush a little bit in shaping my acrylics but they are holding up really nicely. I had to tell them to narrow down some of the nails because the left hand didn't match the right hand. Walked in here on a Saturday afternoon and we got serviced immediately! We did not have a reservation but there wasn't any wait. The place is modern, clean, and welcoming. The staff was friendly and very helpful. When we sat down, they offered us with drinks so we had some water and soda while getting a pedicure. We only did pedicure so I still yet have to try the other services. The service was great and the massage chairs are very comfortable. I got SNS nails and an eyebrow wax. The nails look good and the nail technician was nice, but the woman who did my eyebrow wax was very mean and rough. She seemed very upset from the moment the nail technician called her over to do my eyebrows -- I was not sure why she seemed upset and my inclination was to ask for someone else, but I didn't want to be rude. At one point, she pressed down on my eye so hard that I felt a popping pressure and had to move away from her. My right eye is still throbbing and in pain about one hour later. I tried to tell her how I liked my eyebrows, and she seemed even more upset that I was speaking to her. I always tip 15% or over depending on the service - even if the customer service is lacking - and today was no different. I handed her a $10 tip for $60 worth of services. She sighed, rolled her eyes, and asked rudely if she was supposed to split that with the woman who did my nails. She gave the impression that my tip was not enough. I have never been made to feel this way at a nail salon. Because of this horrible interaction with the eyebrow technician, I will no longer go to Aura nail salon. No paying customer should be treated this way, and they should have sent this woman home if she was having a bad day! She took it all out on me and was so rough I wanted to ask for a refund... I've been meaning to write reviews for Aura for awhile and am unfortunately just now getting around to it. This place is a gem for so many reasons. First, it's CLEAN. I think cleanliness should be a priority of any nail salon these days and Aura hits this right on the mark. This nail salon feels totally immaculate every time I go in. I've never had to wonder about whether or not things are being taken care of or cleaned. Their customer service is amazing. Tina is fabulous. I cannot recommend her enough and definitely encourage anyone, especially a first timer, to book with Tina. That being said, I've seen a ton of the ladies here and they are all wonderful. They are skilled and very nice and do an amazing job. Aura also offers something that I've never seen anywhere else and that is the SNS manicure. This is a great technique that is an alternative to gel. It lasts longer, looks better, is more durable, and doesn't involve UV lights. I've been getting SNS for a few months and couldn't be happier. The technique involves dipping your nails in a powder rather than using a gel liquid. If you google SNS you can find some videos that explain it. This is such a great alternative to acrylics or gel and I recommend anyone who gets their nails done regularly check it out. Overall a great salon with wonderful employees, a good offering of services, and great customer service. They also offer you drinks and have an amazing ginger tea. So I am a regular manicure kinda girl. I like my nails short so all the acrylic stuff doesn't really matter for me. BUT I'd like my polish to last longer than 3 days so I opted for the much talked about SNS. The SNS withstood the test of time. I packed and moved a whole house full of furnishings, dog, turtle and kid, and my nails still held up. Two weeks. The only issue was growth. I'm not sure if my nails underneath will be weaker for it but they look so darn good, I really don't care. I wish I'd chosen a bolder color, but next time. Cause there's definitely going to be a next time. The prices are on the high side, but it's one of those things where you pay for what you get. You pay more, so you get more. This is one of the best nail salons in the area! My friend took me here once and I really liked my pedicure. It lasted a long time, no chip until I had to get my nails. The place is clean and bright, with a lot of color options. The service was really good and they try to accommodate everyone in your group (if you're going with friends) at once so that no one is waiting at the end. The price is similar to every nail salon here in the Arlington area but the service and the quality of your mani/pedi is definitely better! There is street parking in front of the nail salon but it's limited. They do take in walk ins but I would make a reservation for a group of 3 or more people. Just something that you do for special occasions but wasn't worth the money to do regularly.. WELL.. Aura Day Spa has turned me into a regular/frequent nail salon patron!! I am super picky & OCD about the shape of my nails, and Tina never disappoints. She is very meticulous and is an EXPERT at what she does. She'll sit & shape/adjust every single nail for me so they are exactly the way I want them (round this corner out more, make this corner lower, etc). She's even mixed & created her own shade of SNS for me, because I didn't like how the standard color came out. Before Aura Day Spa, I had no idea what SNS was. Now I will not go anywhere else - especially since a lot of other nail salons in the area will tell you they do SNS, but don't actually do the proper technique (like will finish with a gel polish - which is not part of the process). SNS has changed my life lol because I am a nail biter and could never get my nails to grow. Acrylics were always too heavy/thick feeling and I end up peeling them off. I have been coming to Aura Day Spa consistently for several months now. I only have had my nails done by Helen. I just get gel manicures (SNS and acrylic are just not for me) and she is the best. My gel manicures last well over 2 weeks. Manicures come with a complimentary back and hand massage, plus drink (try the ginger tea). I took off one star because I do think $40 is on the high end for a gel manicure. I live in DC and prices are consistently $5-10 cheaper in similiar establishments. However if you pay in cash you get 5% off! It would also be nice if they had an online booking service for convenience.
