I had such a great experience here yesterday! I was welcomed very warmly, and the customer service was excellent from start to finish. My nail artist, Tina, did an absolutely amazing job. I got both a pedicure and manicure, and I couldn't be happier with the results. I love my nails and my toes they look beautiful. Tina really took her time, was very gentle, and paid close attention to every detail. My red nails were actually inspired by one of the workers she had the most amazing, beautiful red nails, and I immediately knew I wanted the exact same look. I got a pedicure and haircut and both services were good! I got a pedicure and they had a good variety of colors, I got the exfoliating treatment and paraffin wax, and hot towel for $45. I have shoulder length hair and I got layers and curtain bangs. My stylist was super nice and chatty, and made sure my bangs were the exact right length that I wanted. I got the full shampoo, condition, short cut, and style for $65. It took a little over two hours for the pedicure and haircut and I left happy. I was saddened about a year ago when, after about 20 years, my favorite nail salon closed. I decided to give Skyline Salon a try just on a whim. The Salon is lovely, clean and peaceful. My nail tech, Alice, is fantastic! She does a beautiful manicure and pedicure and the hand/feet/lower leg massages are truly epic. Such a relaxing experience and I truly feel pampered. Alice is very sweet, always makes me a cup of hot tea and is honest enough to suggest an alternative nail color when I choose one she doesn't think suits my skin tone which I appreciate! [Updated Review] - [Pandemic Era] Service: the service is always just 'okay' to me. They never seem to go above and beyond. Because it is a pandemic, one will not be serviced without an appointment or calling beforehand. Today, I was offered something to drink and then the woman who offered it forgot about it. Value: I have now opted to try other places because of the prices here. I believe it is high in price due to the location and because there have been many renovations/additions to services; however, it's the same basic services that you can find elsewhere for less. One thing that takes away from the value is that at least twice I've had my gel polish peel after 2-3 of getting my nails done. Went there today because I did not feel like driving to my newly preferred salon, so I'm hoping the polish lasts. Ambiance: the vibes at this place are okay. It's usually quiet unless you hear light chatter or sometimes there is some soft instrumentals playing. Needed to try a new nail salon at the last minute. I usually go to Mosaic cause I have a nail tech that never fails and the only reason why I didn't go this time was because I usually like to get my nails done in an environment that isn't hectic. Mosaic is usually pretty pack which I don't blame cause they do nails good! I know it's the holiday season so I just wanted to go somewhere close by to my house during my lunch break just quick and easy. I called before hand to check --it was a clear shop. I walk in and there was one specific nail tech who seemed to kinda have an attitude about serving me..like I was just gonna waste her time. Seems like from previous comments were all talking about the same girl but can't verify for sure. USUALLY a good nail tech will ask you before they pair you with someone what designs you want if you want any etc. They didn't ask -- I had to ask the girl once she finished putting my gel x nails on if she even know what she was doing with my nails. Mind you with Gel x-- you can't take the color off without having to do the whole nail over. Before she even put color on I went over the design I wanted (see pictures for reference the x)I told her if she COULDNT do it --that's fine im not pressed I'm not expecting all nail salons to be able to do the designs I come with cause I know I'm pretty extra, so I was ok with something basic and simple. I knew the risk I took coming to a new salon not knowing if they can even do designs. She told me multiple times she could do the design assuring me repeatedly. So I said okkkk. Tell me why she gets to the design part she's not even no where close to the design. I said ??? This is not how the picture looks. She tried 3 more times then gets an attitude and tells me 100 reasons why she can't do the design. Like girl I literally said before you even started it, if you couldn't do it --then don't! I don't like just getting color on my nails especially with the price they are now adays. So she try's to say she can put jewls on it which I didn't like any of them so I said nope just finish up so I can go cause mined you I'm on my lunch. She charged me $78 for a plain color, and her attitude. I get to the counter the owner I'm assuming was very sweet and nice and made the experience a lot better by asking why I was so upset. She tried to do the design I wanted originally...and I mean it was ok still once again not what the picture was giving. And to show for reference the type of nail designs I do see the pictures of previous nails I've done. I post my nails on social media to inspire others and this was definitely not posted. I usually get a lot of views on my nails and I really like to go extra and dramatic! Overal cost was $100 I tipped $11 just to be nice but will not be coming back and won't recommend this place unfortunately. Will be going back to what I know and who I know which is unfortunate. Gave one star atleast for the owner because she tried and was very polite. I don't generally give bad reviews, and I'm not necessarily going to now, as I think maybe I personally just had a bad experience here as most of the reviews are very positive. I went in with medium-length natural nails and wanted an off white very natural French manicure, and left with super short neon pink nails. When I sat down, I was asked if I wanted a cut and file, which I heard and cut OR file, and I said file only. I have just recently been able to grow my nails out after not being able to due to some health reasons, and I have been taking extremely good care of them lately. Because of this, I just wanted a little file to keep them healthy and nothing more. After I said this, my tech (whose name I did not get) picked up the nail clippers and said she wanted to even them out, and I said okay because she is the professional and I wanted to trust her. She ended up going to my longest nail and trimmed it more than I would've liked, but it wasn't too crazy. Then she went and clipped EVERY other one of my nails, even the ones that were already that length. She ended up trimming one of my thumbs (pictured) ALL the way down to the skin. I asked her again please not too short, and I didn't hear what she said after that, but then she filed them all down some more. I supposed I should've said something as soon as I sat down but I thought I communicated what I wanted but it seems like I did not. At this point I was already upset (not at her particularly, just at the look of my nails and hands now) and was worried that the French tip would look ugly now that my nails were so short. What I DIDNT expect was instead of my tech using a dainty and precise French tip brush on my nails, she slabbed a whole BUNCH of white polish on my finger and wiped the excess off with a brush with alcohol. I know this is not uncommon, but I hate this method, and it made my already stumpy nails look atrocious. I have a poor quality picture of it below, but you can see how blocky it is. I asked her if I could please change it to red, as I don't like how my nails looked in short French. She didn't seem annoyed or anything (but the whole time she didn't seem to care that much either) and she got me the samples to pick from which I really appreciated. I picked a color called "deep pink" which, if you see below is not exactly what I would call it. Granted, she did give me a chance to change it but at this point I was so defeated I just went with it. This part I admit I could've fixed but I was honestly just trying to get through it at this point. Now, for a short neon manicure it's great! It is just not at all what I wanted. Unfortunately I really only budget to be able to get my nails done once every other week, so I am stuck with these but honestly I may just take them off because it is not my style and I really don't like to look at them, it was very disappointing. The salon itself was clean and pretty, and for the most part everyone was kind. I would just recommend telling your tech EXACTLY what you want before they even touch your nails, because this was doomed from the beginning. Also- I'm not sure if there was an option to tip as she didn't give me a receipt to sign. I went in for a basic pedicure, which typically takes about 30-45 minutes based on my past experiences. I even mentioned that I was on a time crunch and requested the simplest option with Gel. Unfortunately, it ended up taking almost two hours -- I arrived at 12 p.m. and didn't leave until 1:50 p.m., which was really frustrating. The quality was disappointing considering that all of my toes were shaped differently. On top of that, the pricing wasn't very clear. The total came out to $67 for a basic pedicure with gel, which didn't seem to match the listed costs or quality. I would have never thought to try this salon had a friend not told me about it. The first time I went was on a Saturday around 4. The salon was pretty quiet. The door was locked, which I found odd. I went to have a gel mani refreshed, and to fix a couple of broken nails. They gave me my box and explained that they would use it each visit. I found it weird that the technician (I don't recall her name) spot fixed one of the nails, meaning she didn't put the powder over the whole nail....just the broken area. I didn't think much of it at the time, but it was definitely bumpy when comparing all of my nails at the end. But I decided I would return again to see how the service went. Second visit was to change the gel polish and fix a few more broken nails. Since I had just walked in before (no appointment), I did the same, this time on a Sunday around 4pm. The salon was a bit busy, but I was taken aback that the receptionist said I should call to make an appointment. But no one said this on my first visit! Anyhow, Sarah was my technician. I mentioned that I prefer if fixed nails aren't bumpy, and if the powder was put over the whole nail. She did a good job with that part. However, there was no mention of my box. Got mood changing polish again. Third visit was to change polish and continue fixing broken nails. This time I asked what could be done to keep my nails from breaking (they seem to break far below the nail bed when they get too long), and Sarah recommended cutting down the nails. My technician was Mikah. She was nice and answered all my questions about gel vs SNS, and she got my box out. However, as my nails grew out I could tell that the powder on some of the fixed nails was extremely thick. So much so that hair would get stuck underneath. Eventually the powder to fix the nails popped off and I was left looking raggedy until I could go back. Fourth and most recent visit I called to make an appointment at 5:30 on a Friday evening. My technician was Helen. She changed my gel polish and freshened up the powder on the broken nails. She got my box, listened to my feedback, and had a great eye for detail as she did my nails. I will definitely request her when I go back! Skyline Spa is so close to where I live, it's convenient to go, which is why I keep returning. I want to find a place I trust, so hopefully now that I've found Helen, this can be my spot. read more

I love going to Skyline Salon. I have retired to Virginia Beach, VA but whenever, I return to the DMV to visit my granddaughter and for Drs appointments, the highlight of my visit is a trip to this salon. I discovered it while working at USDA. I was looking for a nail salon that was closeby that I could patronize after work before commuting home. That was in 2016 and I'm still coming back in 2024! The owner, Thai and her techs are fantastic and highly skilled! My acrylic nails never lift between visits, and my gel pedicures are expertly executed and there are 100s of color choices. The spa ambience is restful and friendly. If you're lucky, you'll get to pet one of Thai's well-behaved and customer-savvy toy poodles. I have never had a bad experience at this spa. Ok, so since Covid shut down my favorite nail salon, I've been on the hunt for a new place. I think I've found it at Skyline Salon. I've only been here once so far, but after my experience, guaranteed I'll be back! The salon itself is nothing overly fancy. It's clean, relaxing and they have plastic partitions to make sure all the Covid health protocols are followed. It's the customer service for me! Bill was the front desk manager and he was super nice and accommodating in helping me make/and keep my appointment (there was so much traffic, I had to change it same day). Kim did my nails and oh my goodness! Amazing. She really took her time and when she was done, my bitten down nails and calloused feet were so smooth and summer sandal ready, I couldn't believe it. I have been coming to Skyline nails for over 8 years and I've always considered it a 5 star place to get my nails done. Based on the way that I was treated today by the Nail Tech Meka (who I have seen several times over the last 8 years and who I have tipped VERY generously and ask for most times), and the way I was allowed to be treated by her by the woman standing in for Thai, AND after the behavior I witnessed a couple of weeks ago when Thai's friend got into a fight with the stand in owner and stormed out of the building, I unfortunately will never be back, and will find another nail salon. Meka has never had a sunshiny personality, but she's always done good nails, so sometimes, I ask for her when she's available. I was getting a gel mani and a regular pedi. Firstly, Meka copped an attitude when she saw I had Gel X nails from a couple of weeks on that she would have to take off, and she said, "I don't do Gel X nails because of my allergies". I said, "I'm not planning on getting Gel X today, I just need them taken off". She rolled her eyes and proceeded to do my nails. I asked her at that moment if she'd rather someone else do my nails, and she said it was fine and continued on. All went well with the pedi, but things went downhill during my gel manicure. I usually don't get my cuticles cut too much. Near the end of the mani, I noticed I still had much of my nail around my cuticle showing, and my preference is to have my nail covered with polish. I asked Meka if she could add polish to that and at first she yelled, "you should have told me earlier, I already put the top coat on". I told her that I didn't mind, and I'd rather have my nails covered. She fixed it and they looked much better. She asked if I liked it and I said yes, they looked great. Then I said, "hey I was thinking, could we add a sparkly top coat to my nails that looks glittery". She immediately screamed at me in a horrible tone and said, "Ma'am, why didn't you tell me earlier, I can't do it, I already put the top coat on". I told her that the top coat is clear polish, it doesn't matter if you put something else on top of it. She rolled her eyes at me and stormed away then came back talking very disrespectfully to me. The lady standing in for the owner came to find out what was going on. I told her. She asked Meka to apply the glittery polish, and Meka said, "No, I won't!" I already told her three times that she should have told me earlier and I already put the top coat on". The stand in owner said, "Oh". She did ask Meka to watch her tone. Meka kept screaming at me. I went to go to the front to pay and the stand in owner offered me $5 off of an $100 bill. I told her that I was deeply upset about the way that Meka talked to me, and I didn't feel like that was sufficient after what she just witnessed. She agreed that Meka needed to watch her tone and apologized for her behavior. Meka said, "You dont need to apologize to her, I told her several times that I couldn't do it and she doesn't understand how nails work and she doesn't listen". The stand in owner told her to stop but she had a HORRIBLE attitude. The owner offered me only $10 off, after the way that I was treated, I should have had a refund. I absolutely adore Thai. She has been wonderful to me over the years. But I will not continue to come to get my nails done here to be spoken to the way that I was spoken to, and for it to be acceptable enough for me to then get charged for a full service that did not satisfy what I asked for. I stumbled upon the salon and decided to give them a try. I read so many wonderful reviews about Thai and requested her but I was told I had the wrong salon (no one by the name worked there). I wanted a fill in and didn't have an appointment but was seated right away. The tech filled my acrylic nails with the dip powder. I asked if that made a difference and was told no (we shall see). I was cut with the drill. After I jumped and pulled my finger away the tech proceeded to take my finger back and continue to drill even though there was a visible cut that was starting to bleed. I retracted my hand and asked if they had alcohol or something for the cut. She put something that wasn't alcohol on it and continued. She also went around my cuticles which was not painless. In all my nails look okay but she drilled so close to my cuticle that it will look like I need a fill in before it's time. There was a sign that said after July 16th you can no longer tip with your card so I was thinking I'd be able to tip with my card. I was told only cash so I directed the employees attention to the sign and asked if it was from last year.. she kind of giggled and said something inaudible. (I've been to other places where they are rough with your hands, pull your hands etc.) I have really short nails and I had a cut on one finger and I told her and she actually acknowledged it and did her best to not sting me or anything. For some reason the gps took me to the neighborhood next to the salon but in case you go it's directly in front of the target light. I think the lady's name was nazi, but she was very nice. I should have kept scrolling to read ALL the reviews on this place. Came in for a SNS full set and a regular pedicure after taking final exams. Pedicure was okay (took a hour and a half for a basic pedi, but okay). Then all of sudden the manager comes to the lady doing my feet and speaks to the lady in their language and then all of sudden she switched with another lady (I'm assuming she had another client??) not sure but that is pretty rude, she was literally at the last part (painting my toes before she randomly got up and switched). So, now the new girl steps in......started painting my toes a COMPLETELY different color instead of asking me if that was the color she was painting my toes. I had to stop her. She apologized. Wipe off the paint. Proceeded to paint my toes...after she was completed there was paint ALL around my toes. I'm thinking she is going to clean up the slop...UM NO! Until I told her....uhhh can you clean up the polish around my toes...WTH! I should've just stopped and paid for the pedicure and left. But I'm thinking maybe she is at least a decent nail artist. Eric gave me literally the worst manicure I have ever had. I think he thinks that if he just does something enough, he will eventually get it right. I stopped in for a manicure today since I'm attending a wedding this weekend. While I was picking a color, he halfheartedly tried to point me in the direction of the gels. I said no thanks, I was fine with regular polish, so naturally, after I sat down at his station, he asked me two more times. "You don't want gel?" "No." Are you sure?" Eric asked if I wanted to cut my nails down or just file. I said just file. So, without asking how I wanted my nails shaped, he just started haphazardly filing them down. He ended up filing several nails crooked, so one side was noticeably longer than the other, and when I pointed this out, he just took the file to the shorter side again, like if he just filed my nails crooked for long enough they would magically not be crooked anymore. When I said it was still crooked and tried to point it out to him, he pointed to the shorter side and said "Your nail is broken." So ... Because you think my nail was broken on one side, you can't file the other side? How does that make sense? (There is another reviewer who said he blamed her nails for his poor shaping abilities as well.) I eventually had to take the file from him and *do it myself*, which is nuts. So when it came time to apply the polish, he used short stabby strokes rather than long strokes, resulting in a globby, uneven first coat. Instead of wiping it off and starting over, like others might have done, instead, he just kept applying more and more polish to the same nail - again, like if he just put enough polish on my fingers, everything would just be fine. It has been hours since my manicure and the polish is so thick it's denting. Finally, when he pulled out the top coat, he noticed something on the brush. He used *his fingers* to pull it off, and then with his polish-covered finger, grabbed my finger to start applying the top coat. This resulted in clear nail polish on three of my fingers. He made no move to clean it off for me until I asked, at which point he picked up the touch-up brush, dipped it in a basically empty cup of polish remover, and stabbed at it a few times - ultimately useless since the polish remover was so empty. I eventually left with polish still on my fingers and had to remove it myself at home. I also want to note that this salon doesn't seem to have a drying station, because I had to sit with my fingers in front of a fan to dry the polish. Eric plopped himself back down in his chair in front of me, pulled out an iPad, and started watching something on it, which I found to be the unprofessional cherry on top of the poor-manicure sundae I had just received. The worst part is that in his aimless efforts, Eric filed my nails so short that there's no way to have this manicure redone somewhere else. (He may as well have cut them down, since he filed them so far down.) I'm just going to have to have crooked, short nails at the wedding. Needless to say, I won't be back. read more

On Friday, I made an appointment for Saturday. The person I spoke with was very polite. When I walked in, the receptionist was also polite and greeted me immediately. After I picked my colors, she seated me right away. Yuka did my regular manicure and Dead Sea salt scrub and pedicure. I switched from a regular pedicure to the Dead Sea salt scrub after she'd already started, but it wasn't a problem. She was awesome, very responsive and kind. The pedicure and manicure massages were wonderful. Yuka was very precise and gentle. She made sure each nail was perfect. We also had a great conversation during the manicure. I was happy with the outcome of both mani and pedi. The place is beautifully decorated and very clean. Everything is well organized, from the towels to the polishes. I really needed a good nail salon in my area and Skyline Salon popped up as #1 on Yelp. They are 5 minutes away from my house so I called to make an appointment and headed right over. Upon first looks, the salon is actually way bigger than it looks from the outside. It is beautifully decorated and well lit. It is also pretty much spotless. There are about 6 pedicure baths and 6 manicure stations as well as a hair salon in the back. I've never thought to get my hair done at a nail salon but I've seen some girls leaving looking like supermodels! When I got there, I was greeted by the receptionist and told to pick a color. The best thing about this salon is that all of the gel colors are packaged with their corresponding regular color. What's even better is that my technician, Tran, told me to have a seat and brought over a few of the nail swatches. Way more time effective and a better way to decide what color you want. I got the signature pedicure and a gel manicure. Tran paid very good attention to my hands and feet. She finished both my pedicure and manicure with a massage and a warm towel. I smacked my toe against my other foot and she came right over to fix the smudged area. She's very sweet and did an amazing job. Since my first experience with Skyline, I've only gone to Tran and highly doubt I'll go to anyone else. When you have a good nail tech you hold on to them! Another few pretty cool things about the salon is that they provide a $5 off your next service after your first visit. They also offer water, tea, and soda during your appointment. A great way indeed to secure your clientele. The only parts of the salon that I don't like are that they don't use plastic in the footbaths, I don't think they use disposable pumice stones (they do have a sterilizer for metal tools which is fine) and their hours on the weekends are pretty short. I might have to start going on the weekdays since they stay open a bit later then. All and all I would refer anyone to go here. The prices are competitive to the area ($30 pedicure, $35 gel manicure) but I can say my gel manicure has lasted longer here than anywhere else. Plus you can't beat the area that it's in. There's a target across the street and grocery stores all around. I would suggest you stop by here and treat yourself while running errands. read more

Quick update on this review - I won't be going back. It's so hit or miss when you go in here that I can't do it anymore. I put up with bad service a few times and I'm over it. Just be wary that you might get really good service and your nails will look great, OR you may leave annoyed after two hours and have to go back in a few days to get a nail fixed. Love this salon. I go here every two to three weeks for a fill on my dip powder nails and I am so thrilled with them every single time. They have every color in the world, make the service quick and enjoyable, and are so friendly and welcoming. My nails always look great until I go back. The biggest thing that got to me was the fact that the removal of my acrylics and mani+pedi took almost 2 hours. On top of that, Hannah (the technician) did not do a good job, especially considering how long it took her. My usual nail technician puts acrylics on me within 30 to 45 minutes and does a fantastic job, while Hannah blobbed on thick coats of polish and got it all over my skin and failed to shape my nails to match in that same amount of time. There was another person who took my acrylics off and she filed my nails to the edge of their lives. Not buff - but filed. The filing machine got so hot that it hurt. I will never again let anyone near me with the machine to REMOVE acrylics. Soaking and buffing works to get them off. I expect much better service, especially from a place that charges $45 for a basic mani-pedi. This was also the first nail salon that did not ask if I needed anything to drink even though I was stuck there for two hours. Yuki was very accommodating of the preferences I had throughout the appointment. I can sometimes be picky about how my nails are fixed depending on what damage they've gone through. She was gentle/careful when removing the broken acrylics and understood how the rest needed to be reshaped. Also the thickness is exactly as I asked. Fast and great service. I really appreciated that I didn't have to wait. The quality was on point too. They make you feel welcomed.

The only reason why this isn't a 1 star rating is because the girl who did my nails shaped them perfectly and the price was not bad for tips removal- $15. With that being said, do not go here. They do not know how to handle nails properly. She burned my nails when she removed them. Then she was trying to manipulate me into getting gel nails "to make them stronger." Completely careless. Really enjoyed my visit in today. I called to make an appointment but it wasn't really busy for a Saturday afternoon. The woman I had was friendly and kept mostly to herself which I didn't mind I liked watching her technic. She did very well. I got a full set of gel nails and she did three coats with three top coats. I'm getting married next weekend so I asked to have "I do" written on my ring finger. She free handed and did nice and didn't charge me for the design or glitter. I paid 55 dollars for the full set but am very pleased considering its for a special occasion. She offered me a beverage and gave me a 5 dollar off coupon since I was a new customer for next time.
