I love the atmosphere of this restaurant. It is situated in the artsy plaza district, and it has a open, inviting feel on the inside, and an awesome outdoor seating area with yard games. The staff was helpful and friendly, suggesting some of the customer favorites. We started with the salted caramel cinnamon roll and a blueberry scone to share between the three of us. This way we get to try more of what Aurora has to offer! Both were excellent. I had the knife and fork breakfast plate. It was good, but I think I would prefer my biscuits and gravy separate from eggs and cheese. This is just a personal preference. It was served with a side of beautiful berries. My friends had the plaza jam and the breakfast burger. They both also enjoyed their meals. Aurora puts a little spin on the classics. The thyme in the buttermilk biscuits takes the flavor to the next level, and the tomato jam brings an interesting spin. Aurora also offers some delicious looking French toast and pancakes. We had brunch at Aurora this morning. Very popular place but if you make reservations online the wait is extremely short. Staff were very friendly , our server made us feel welcome, serving the (very good) coffee with a great smile. We had the Eggs Benedict and the "Farmer Plate". The biscuits were the best we've had. Cute little spot for breakfast or brunch! My favorite is the outdoor patio area. Highly recommend enjoying a pineapple mimosa with your meal. We ate here at 10:00 am on a Tuesday. They had plenty of seating at this time so we were seated promptly. Johnny was our server and did AMAZING. They leave a pitcher on the table to refill your water glass as needed...we didn't touch it once because he refilled our water and coffee constantly.. our order came out perfect and our food was delicious. I've hesitated on coming here for lunch on a weekend since they're always busy, but I've joined the waitlist on yelp, and I think since we came in around 1 pm, we were able to get a table when we arrived. The BLT+A and the cream of mushroom soup I had were so tasty. The garlic aioli in the sandwich was terrific. Next time, I would get my friend's pumped-up grilled cheese; it was incredibly delicious. The tomato jam was special. The food was reasonably priced and portioned. We experienced good service and had a good meal. My only complaint was the ice chai latte. Under new management / ownership it seems? I ended up at Aurora on a whim, because I was nearby and wanted some coffee; according to Yelp, this was the closest place (to Empire Slice) that had caffeinated beverages. So I walked in and ordered a dirty chai latte. It was fine. Actually, no, that's making it seem better than it was. It wasn't great. As far as dirty chai lattes are concerned, it was one of the worst I've had, but it wasn't so awful that I couldn't finish it. It was just... watery, with a weird sickly sweetness, and there was little in the way of (espresso) dirty-ness about it. And while I was waiting for the latte, I saw a cake stand behind the barista, and asked what the cake was. He told me it was red velvet, and me being such a basic bish, my response was: "Of course, let me go ahead and get one of those as well." But it was like... $6+ for a slice, so I was like, "Oh dang, that's... Okay... I guess this is one of those days where I'll drop $12ish just for a drink and a dessert after lunch..." But I was committed at this point. And idiot me forgot my KILOK card at home too, so no savings to be had there either. IDIOT! The cake slice was smallish for the price. And it wasn't even Chocolate Red Velvet. It was just white cake with red food coloring. Granted, it was a reasonably well-made cake, and the cream cheese frosting was pleasant because it wasn't overly sweet. But it was still a slice of a basic cake. An expensiveish slice of a basic cake. A smallish expensiveish slice of a basic cake. That was barely a Red Velvet basic cake. This is almost poetry. The barista, and the manager (or whatever he was) were both nice dudes. Although, when I asked the barista questions about random things, his responses were almost always along the lines of, "uhhh... This place is a must visit. From the time you walk in and greeted by the hostess to the things you leave you are treated so well. I was greeted warmly and shown to my table. The speed at which they work is impressive. I think they work as a team because no sooner had I ordered and someone brought my food, them someone else brought my mimosa. Everyone is sleeping on Aurora!!! This is one of my new favorite spots for Sunday brunch. I gave up trying to eat at busy places like Neighborhood Jam, Picasso, or Cafe kakao. I gave this place a try one day and haven't looked back! You can check in via yelp and get your name on the waitlist (which is typically like 15-20min). The service has always been wonderful, and never felt like we waited too long to be sat down or for them to take our order. The reason why I love this place is their shrimp and grits!! It is absolutely mouth watering and 100% worth ordering. They don't cheap you on the shrimp, and the grits are made to perfection. If you love cajun food like me, you will love this dish! I will say, its a heavy dish - so I recommend sharing this with another person. They serve Hoboken coffee, which is AMAZING. The drive to guthrie is a little far for me, so I love that I can get it at Aurora and they serve it well! Other things I ordered are the blueberry pancakes and the overnight oats. Both were delicious and filling! Bloody marys are also really good here. I think you really get the most out of your dollar eating here. The environment is really pretty, and I love that I can go explore plaza to walk off all that food. This is the spot to go!! I have eaten at Aurora several times for breakfast. Good service, food is good, but leave a little hungry. Seems they serve very small portions with great flavors. I do not want large portions, just adequate. Not sure how to address it. They just need to find the balance of European and American. I am not a fan of many of our breakfast venues in OKC. I ended up going with four girlfriends and we all got a variety of plates and shared with each other. I first started with a drip coffee, but I felt that for drip coffee it wasn't very strong. My friends got a chai latte and regular latte and they said it was good. Next we ordered food to share. We started with a creme brulee grapefruit - this was so delicious and is a must try! We also got the caprese salad, Cubano sandwich, pulled pork hash, and chicken tacos. The chicken tacos were very very dry, they were recommended by the waitress but we all were not a fan.
