The heat was already getting to my wheaten terrier mix, and I decided to save him some embarrassment at the dog park by not giving him a repeat of last summer's terrible home-done haircut. I heard about Jade because she's kind enough to donate a free groom each week to a pup at Austin Pets Alive. I contacted her by e-mail and she responded right away. A few exchanges later I'd set an appointment for the same week. I brought him in to her home shop on Easter Sunday morning. She asked me the standard questions about how I wanted his hair, but then went a step further to ask about skin conditions or allergies, and to discuss using a medicated shampoo to soothe his allergy-ridden body. Just two hours later I got a call to come pick up my boy, and he looked amazing. She did exactly what I asked for, and he was obviously happy and comfortable. Jade's prices are beyond reasonable, her home shop looked clean, and my sometimes-anxious dog clearly had a decent time while there. He looks great and is much cooler in early Spring heat. I have been taking my dog, Lambchop to Calais (now at Austin Pet Stylist) for about 2 years now (since the day I adopted her!) She is the only one in town I will ever go to! Since Day 1, Calais has been nothing but professional and loving towards my pup. She accommodates every wild groom I have ever thought up (lion cut, poodle cut, shave downs-- we get crazy lol) and every groom has been PERFECTION! She is a true artist of her craft and Lambchop and I both look forward to her grooms. Calais used to work at a shop closer to me, but when she moved to work at Austin Pet Stylist, I followed; no questions asked! What was cool is I already knew Jade (she grooms many dogs I know) and she is superb as well-- so I was excited when these two teamed up! I love the environment of the new shop. While Lamby always loved Calais, the environment of the old place she worked seemed to make her nervous, but Austin Pet Stylist is so calm and relaxed and less noisy than most typical grooming salons-- almost like a doggie spa! My senior dog has been groomed by Jade since we moved to Austin a few years ago. We tried 3 other groomers before we found her. My dog suffers from pretty severe allergies and keeping his fur clean with a weekly bath makes a huge difference in his health/happiness - and it shows when he gives Jade kisses when we arrive and struts around, showing off to me when I pick him up. Our biggest challenge is that he has elderly mobility issues and can only handle 'being handled' so much. After moving here, I really thought his grooming days were over. I appreciate Jade so much! The entire staff is professional and caring and Edith gave the kids a perfect "do" on their first visit. It typically takes a visit or two to find the right style and length as each "fur baby" has their own needs. The pups walked in without hesitation which is a great indication and their tails were wagging upon my arrival. I just picked up my border collie mix and I am so happy with how he looks! Edith did a great job with my pup who has been really scared of going to groomers in the past, but was very comfortable here. I booked an express groom, where we went first thing in the morning, and the atmosphere was calm and relaxed. Perfect for my anxious dog! There is not enough room on this website to write all the amazing things about Jade! She is a true gift to every pup she meets! Lily was so terrified of grooming after horrible experiences at Wolfgang Bakery and Grooming and Midtown Grooming that she would shake at even the thought of a bath. After meeting Jade, Lily not only loves baths but she even lets us brush her at home. Jade has transformed Lily's fears of grooming to joy and excitement, Lily even licks Jade hello when we arrive. Austin is so lucky to have Jade, she is incredibly patient and an outstanding groomer!
