I've waited almost a week to write this review, because I was frustrated after our experience and wanted some time to think about it. Last Saturday, my partner spoke with Jim about a Honda Civic. Jim asked my partner to speak with John, who was in the office that day. When we arrived, John was incredibly friendly. He kept referring to my partner as "my friend," and showed us pictures of his recent trip to Ireland. He also immediately started talking to my partner as if the purchase of the car was a done deal. He accompanied us on a test drive of the vehicle. During the test drive, John mentioned taking the car onto the freeway, but then directed my partner back to the office after driving right down the street, circling a lot, and then driving back. When we arrived back at the office, John pulled out some paperwork and gave it to my partner. Again, he was acting as if the transaction was a done deal. When we started trying to negotiate with him, everything changed. "My friend" went straight out the window, his smile turned into a frown, and he said to us twice that he wouldn't have had us come all the way down there if he had known that we were going to try to negotiate. What car dealership expects customers to purchase a vehicle without negotiation? I had to bite my tongue to keep from telling him that he didn't have us come down there, and that we chose to come take a look at the vehicle. At one point, he pulled the old "let me go talk to my boss" routine and stepped outside for a few minutes. When he returned, he refused to negotiate. Needless to say, we did not purchase the vehicle. And also needless to say, we do not recommend this business. read more

I have a hard time giving this company a perfect 5.0 review, but they did do a good job and I wanted to write about my experience. I recently went to look at a 4Runner from them. I arrived to a shop that looked like an abandoned building, but inside was filled with beautiful classics. I'm only talking about this so that if anyone in the future decides to look into this company ahead of time, just know you are in the right spot when you pull up to a white, abandoned-looking building. Here's what this place did great, and here's where they went wrong: Right off the bat, when I walked in the door, they had the carfax report on the table and were very open about the 2 crashes the car had been in. I appreciated that. This 4Runner I was looking at also happened to have extensive documented maintenance, that was prepared and on the table for me to view when I walked in. We then took this 4Runner out to the shipyards near magnolia where I was given free rein to drive it around. This 4Runner was a manual. The clutch was seriously wrong, and it was noticeable. It did not have transmission issues, but the clutch pedal was not effective and it was tough to drive, so it was noticeable. We drove it around for a little bit and headed back to the shop where I sat down to look at the maintenance records they had available. This particular 4Runner had a lot of clutch work done, so I was concerned. I brought it up to Alex, and he recommended to take the 4Runner into their shop to get it fixed before they were to sell it. That was much appreciated. They didn't try to shrug me off and move on to another customer and try to sell a broken 4Runner for $14k to the next customer, they stopped, addressed the problem, and tried to move on. In my opinion, that's how business should be done. Kudos Here's where I believe they went wrong. They were trying to sell a 4Runner with 90% of the factory options for the price of a 4Runner that had 100% of the factory options. When you go on used car markets elsewhere, you could find that exact car for $8500-10k easily because nobody wants a 4Runner without all the 4x4 factory options. To make things worse, they were trying to sell that 4Runner with clutch issues. In my opinion, that is not how you do business. They had already taken the time to do repairs on the 4Runner ahead of time, the clutch pedal should've been addressed prior to listing or the price should've been lowered. I wish this team the best of luck selling that 4Runner, and I wish you luck on finding a car that's right for you. If you decide to come here, make sure to ask for Alex. He's about as stand up as a dealership salesman can come. I will still recommend this shop to anyone looking for specifics. To me, this shop appears to only buy specific cars that are in high demand due to rarity, price, etc. so they might have what you're looking for. I should also add that even though they had some questionable ethics, this shop was the most honest dealership I've been to in the last 3-4 weeks and I've been inside 7 different shops across the Seattle area this month. P.s. I ended up buying a truck of Facebook marketplace. I went to this shop with the intention of buying the 4Runner, but was turned off by them asking $13,900 for a 4Runner without the factory lockers and with clutch issues. You can find the same 4Runner on Facebook marketplace for anywhere between $8,500-10k because nobody wants a 4x4 4Runner without the factory lockers. read more

My friends car broke down so we took it to Auto Connections Seattle to have it serviced. A friend of ours recommended them. When we went back to pick it up, I saw this little gray convertible sitting in the corner. They told me it had just come in on trade. I went home but couldn't get it out of my mind so after a couple days I went back to test drive it. I was in love. Their technicians went all through it and cleaned it up for me and had it ready a couple days after that. They set a time for me to come in and sign the papers and do a final look over. The whole experience was extremely easy, no hassle and took almost no time as they had all the paperwork ready and in order when I came to pick up the car. It's funny that I wasn't even in the market for a new car when I purchased this one but I will be sure to come to Auto Connection Seattle first for my next vehicle! read more

NW Auto Connections - Seattle . I was friends with Patty, Jim's Sister. Jim Jahn operated NW Auto Connection next door to his sister Patty's coffee shop. Patty and I shared our stories together for a good 15 years w/hugs and empathy. At one point I told her I needed a car and she said, "My brother Jim!" I felt immediately relieved from Patty's glowing referral coupled w/ assurance that I let her know how it went, and whether I would need her to "remind her brother" a little bit here and there to keep things moving. I entered Patty's brother's lot next door in our community in Ballard. I was excited to have a trusted channel to proceed. I openly vocalized and announced (video) I needed a group I could trust not to take advantage me while I was experiencing a down-mental state. I arrive as referred by Patty. Patty and I go way back some 20+ years with tons of morning coffee together. When Patty recommended her brother, I went next door and visited his car lot. I was met by a guy an inch shorter than me but twice as wide. John. John and I hit it off immediately. I had cars and cash to bring in and he was happy to transact. John was a cool guy I confided heavily in. A Scottish-singer no less. Being a music guy, I was really feeling vibe. They offered forth a car they BOTH recommended. A BMW 335D that would be running as soon as their neighbor fixed it. Jim asked 16k for the 2011 BMW 335D. I drove into Jim's lot in a Lexus LS400. I explained my 20 year history of near-maintenance free ownership and desired the same again. Jim and John nodded and took me out to show me a super hot BMW they had. It didn't run yet, but that would be handled by the following day or two. I ended up buying the car and the first drive it had to be hauled back to service ie the guy next door. Upon inspection which I videotaped, (along with the rest of this), Dimitri said NP I will talk to Jim. This vehicle never ran and had to be trailered for service everywhere it went. I asked Jim to please speak to this and he replied, "I don't know what you want me to do about it." I told him, make it right, he said, you altered the car. I said, but you told me to! He said, I don't know what I can do for you. Tom Kinney from Kinney Toyota ended up w/Bruce Leven's Comet. That was a car I brought in as trade. I later ended up GIVING away the BMW and buying a new car outright. Jim Jahn my trusted consultant, dodged and ran. To this very day he avoids me when I try and correct things with him. Jim literally took my money, and my car, turned his back, and walked away. Sure I have emails... anyone who knows me knows tons of video exists. I am at fault ultimately for trusting Jim. But I am here to tell you today that my experience with Auto Connections Seattle, yesterday, was by far THE BEST experience I have EVER had buying a car. It. Was. Amazing. It started with some back and forth online with Jim. Is this car still available? Yes. Let us know if you'd like to come and have a look. Do you have a trade in? Yes. What's the VIN? Etc. I set up a time, yesterday, to test drive this car and Jim then replied back that I would be meeting with John. I got there and walked in and was quickly taken aback by the "old time" feel of the building they were in. Old 100 year old plank flooring and it just had a vibe to the place that was unlike any other used car place I had ever been to. And there was John. One of the nicest, friendliest, authentic people you are ever going to meet. I never once felt pressured and hurried and like he wasn't being completely upfront with me. It was like I had known him all my life. I don't know what I was expecting but it darn sure wasn't that. The entire process of test driving and going over paperwork on the car and looking at my trade in was a joy. It didn't seem real. It didn't seem like I was actually buying another car. Jim contacted me after submitting the highest bid on the truecar sell app, and showed great communication and flexibility from the start. He agreed to let me come in before the store opened and even let me bring in my dog. Once I arrived, he was quick to evaluate the car and come up with an offer. Jim negotiated respectfully and we came to a price we both agreed on in just a few minutes, and had all the paperwork done shortly. I came away very impressed by how well Jim respected my time. Most experiences I have had with car dealers involve lots of time wasted saying "no" to things I don't want, and waiting while someone "gets a manager" or fills out paperwork. Just bought a used RV from these guys, what a wonderful experience! I work with a guy named Jon Koidahl, what a gem he was.;Nice, down to earth, sincere, sweet guy. Loved working with him, knew he wasn't trying to screw me over as so many guys will try to do when they are working with a woman who is in there by herself. The whole group of guys who worked in this small, small dealership where very nice.  When I was trying to to get my loan all worked out with my credit union, these guys were telling me ways to try and get my loan guy to come down on GAP insurance!  They just were so sweet and always looking out for me. Since I had to come across the sound to pick this rig up, I could not have the rig looked at by any mechanics I knew, (I was sure I didn't need too because this rig was in such great shape), but never the less wanted the piece of mind of knowing that someone I knew would look at it.  Jon was fine with that and told me if anything was found wrong he would make it right! True to his word, I learned the cab air conditioning was not working as I was driving the rig home.  I called Jon, he said "Get it fixed, I will pay for it" and that is just what he did!!!!   Go figure, a salesman who stands by his word!!!!  The air conditioning cost more than Jon was expecting, I know, but he still made it right and I was on my first camping trip in just a couple of days! Looking for Toyota Tacoma and saw just what I was looking for on Cargurus for a great red 4x4 V6 manual transmission Tacoma at Auto Connection Seattle. Walked onto the lot and met Janna who was as helpful as she was friendly. We took the truck out for a great test drive which included getting it a little muddy as we tested out the four wheel drive which was fun. Getting back to the lot she walked me through the paperwork and explained everything and all while we continued to chat and just had an enjoyable conversation. Signed for the truck while she washed the mud off. I enjoyed everything about my experience with Janna and while I can sympathize with how someone inexperienced with buying a used vehicle could have unrealistic expectations I feel I was treated fairly and got exactly what I was hoping to find in both the truck and the personnel working at this business. I've been meaning to write this review for a couple of months now.. Life gets busy. I went to Auto connections after a bad experience with another dealership in the Portland area. I did my research on the vehicle before arriving and made sure to practice in my head what I would say ahead of time to make sure I got the best deal. Fortunately for me, Janna was sooo helpful and honest and patient and etc!! She was organized and had a folder with the kbb print out, carfax, and a listing of banks and credit unions with interest rate information. She explained things very clearly, in a way that a person like me(someone who needs a car buying guide for dummies ) would understand. She was courteous and fair and I was impressed all around. Only giving this place 1 stars and cannot give no stars. Unfortunately Jim is not a very helpful individual. When I inquired about a vehicle that is on the lot that I had found on cars.com, stating the car can be delivered to my home. Since I work 2 jobs and have a very busy schedule it would be difficult to get in and test drive or spend 5 hours in their finance office (I have bought a car before, it takes FOREVER). I waited for a response, and his exact text back was "you know it's a stick shift transmission!" Instead of informing me on how the process works or that they weren't able to sell a vehicle that way, also he assume because I am a female I do not know how to drive a MANUAL TRANSMISSION. Any way took my business somewhere else. read more

My girlfriend purchased a BMW over a year ago from Jim at Auto Connections. The wheel bearings on both rear wheels were corroded and rusted to the hubs. We called Jim to let him know about the car. He was incredibly receptive and genuinely wanted to help. He offered to take the car to his mechanic. The car ended up needing an entire rear end. Jim took the time to find the new parts and shipped them overnight. Then offered to split the cost with us. I have never dealt with such a professional and kind salesman. All good! I really expected the worst, but came out with a great experience. For me, this was my first experience buying a car from a used car dealership and I mentally prepared myself before going in to face pressure-salesmanship and negotiations, like so many stories I have heard. Before going in, I called to set up an appointment because they had two vehicles in my price range. I talked to Jim on the phone. He seemed level-headed and answered some initial questions about the condition, age, and history of the vehicles. He didn't talk in doublespeak, was very polite, and seemed honest, so I set up an appointment to come in to test drive the two vehicles. They accommodated this with just a couple hours notice. I met with John at the dealership. He had already pulled the two vehicles out and washed them for us! It seemed like they really cared about having good, clean vehicles. They had the Carfax reports ready for both vehicles (although I had already pulled and reviewed them at home) and also a very recent service inspection from an auto mechanic that they had had performed. Wow. John was up-front and honest, pointed out some dings and issues that I would consider very minor (again, this was for a used vehicle so I didn't expect them to be like new) and gave me some good things to think about in how the two vehicles compared. Both had low mileage for their age and were exceptionally clean inside and out. There was no hassle and no pressure at any time. Jim handed me the keys to each one and let me fully inspect everything and then take each on a test drive. I came away feeling like I knew exactly what I was purchasing. My wife and I chose one vehicle over the other because we observed some things in one of the vehicles that would benefit us more (safety harnesses for car seats was a big thing we were looking for and the older one had fewer seats where these were available, and in a different configuration). We also noticed that the older vehicle had been owned by a smoker at some point. Too bad. You can never quite get the smell out. We pulled the trigger and negotiated on the one we wanted. Jim was extremely fair and knocked some of the price off even though they had recently brought the price down, and then he quickly drew up the paperwork with no back and forth, hidden fees, suspicious distractions or anything like that. He was very professional and friendly at all times, and answered all of my questions without condescending. He also accepted my personal check. Then to put icing on the cake, he handed me a gas card and said "Here, go put $30 gas in there and bring the card back when you're done." The level of trust that they exhibited in me is refreshing and a big reason why I've rated them so high. Knowing that they know how to trust their customers shows me that they are trustworthy, and I can easily say that this was the best auto purchase experience I have ever had. Next time we want to upgrade we plan to work with these guys for sure. read more

After almost getting screwed multiple times, by multiple people and places, I found a 2009 Civic I wanted to look at here. I met with John who was a pleasure to work with. He got all of my paperwork written up for me and even brought the car to a garage on my behalf for a pre-buy inspection. The entire experience was easy and straightforward. I spent months being patient (so unlike me) and looking for just the right car. I stumbled upon Auto Connections and purchased a Jetta. I was so excited until the car started falling apart. A few months after the purchase I e-mailed the owner to express my concerns. I felt there were some easy repairs a mechanic who had done a "safety inspection" should have caught and fixed before selling. I didn't expect much but at least an apology for my dissatisfaction and perhaps they would take my comments into consideration for future customers. Instead, they said nothing. They completely ignored my e-mail. A year later I emailed them a video from CNN reporting on the many deaths of drivers who had experienced the same mechanical defects that I had. This was their response: "What am I suppose to say?If you are unhappy with your purchase I cannot do anything that will make you happy. Sorry !!!" That was from Jim Jahn, Owner. So, if you're looking for a luxury car that looks great but might kill you, or if you're lucky like me, will cost you about $5000 in repairs ( I'm sadly not exaggerating), or you really just want terrible customer service, then I you should check them out. Purchased a vehicle that started spewing transmission fluid a month later. Took it to the ford dealership to get fixed to discover that it had been tampered with/temp fixed to stop the leak. If you can't trust their word and mechanic then how can they run a business? Had high hopes and thought I had finally found a decent used car lot but to no avail.
