I had avocado stuck all over the passenger seat -- Some dummy brought an avocado to work and when i was nice enough to drive him home, he sat on it! (sorry if you are reading this, but really who does that?!?) --Anyway, they got it out!!! I am so glad we were able to work things out bc I will be a return customer for as long as I am in Chicago!! Ok first a little background: our car got stolen and was never recovered, so my parents offered to sell me their car. It's a great car but the only problem is my dad is very messy. When we got the car the seats we're covered in coffee stains and there was a general layer of crud on all the surfaces. I was pretty skeptical that anything could get out years-old stains, but they did an amazing job! It's like a completely new car. Uhhh I thought the interior was light beige but turns out it is actually gray. I'm really impressed. They were very professional, everything was done on time, and they were upfront with the pricing. I made appointment by phone at 11am and confirm one price, for interior and exterior detailing, also engine wash and headlight restoration, but when I get there price was different. I was waiting all day and finally my car was done by 7pm. 8hours for my pretty clean BMW. I didnt like how they did exterior, looks like i took my car to hand car wash with extra care 10$ service. Interior detailing was not bad, but I bring my car to full DETAILING, make it look perfect, I was dissatisfied with this place. Headlight restoration was awful. Its still foggy look. They cant do it. Jesse at Auto Detail Chicago deserves every one of thse these 5 star reviews. My car was disgusting. We refer to it as the dogmobile...because it smells like dog and is covered in hair. I'll fully admit its disgusting and embarrassing, but my dog likes to go for rides and I like to take him. I (ok my husband) had it cleaned once at one of those typical chicago hand-wash places with the flashing strobe lights out front. They did an OK job. Jesse worked miracles. Seriously. I mean. Seriously. I don't know HOW he got all that dog hair out. I made it clear he didn't need to do anything crazy like get the tweezers out to get the dog hair out, because honestly, the dog is just going to go back in the car and mess it up again. So I told him to balance cleaning it well, with not going crazy. He even cleaned the outside even though I just went for the interior. The price wasn't as cheap as the strobe light places, but it honestly wasn't as much as you could expect for the quality of the work. It was worth every penny and then some. read more

Last Wednesday I was short on time and needed my car cleaned. I searched Yelp for "car detail near 60611" and a handful of choices were returned. Auto Detail Chicago didn't have many reviews but I was drawn to them because a reviewer raved about how pleased they were with the service, namely Jay. Too many people take great customer service for granted; not me. Life's too short to deal w/ a-holes in business or personal life. There are too many alternatives to choose from. Anyway, I called Auto Detail Chicago at 8:00am. Jay answered the phone and was able to fit me in at 8:30am. I dropped off the car and waiting for me was, yep, Jay. Extremely friendly, polite, not hurried, professional, knowledgeable. Jay gave me a call to let me know my car would be ready in 10 minutes. He pulled my car around. I walked around it a couple times and it looked perfect, top to bottom, inside and out. I especially checked areas that were hard to reach. I drove away a very satisfied first-time customer. But then... 45 seconds after pulling away Jay called me. He said he saw a "streak" on the back end of the car that he only saw when I drove away into sunlight. He apologized and wanted to make it right and offered to redo the entire car at no charge right away or at my convenience... I parked and looked to see what "streak" he was talking about...I kid you not....it looked like dried water marks. If the car was any color other than black, you wouldn't have noticed. Even still I barely noticed. Not a big deal. Really? Who does that? He didn't need to and to be honest, I wouldn't have noticed. But that's why I like dealing with Jay-- professionalism with integrity. I went back to ADC this morning and the end result was fantastic. It's the type of "clean" you would do yourself (if you're a 'car person')...and if you had the space, the supplies...and 5 hours (your time, not their time). I literally didn't clean my car for like 2 years and I have accidentally spilled coffee inside my coffee holder, my friend's dog vomited on the back seat once and her hair was everywhere on the carpet ( yes she loves my car). Professional staff and great work. I took my black Acura MDX with the purpose of getting rid of the swirlmarks caused by washes and the previous owner. Black is hard to maintain so I can't expect flawless paint. But it was a world of a difference when I got it back. I detail myself so I was hesitant in paying someone else. But I knew it would be in better hands with better equipment. This is the first time I got any of my vehicles detailed and it won't be the last. Angel did a fantastic job. And you could tell he was passionate and also a hard worker. About 90% of the swirlmarks were gone. (I checked with my phone light) The interior was cleaned, leather conditioned, and smelled great. I went here based on Yelp reviews, and ended up having a fantastic experience, similar to everyone else's. I called Jay the day before, and needed to get in quickly before leaving town the following afternoon. He got me in first thing the next morning, and after realizing that my car needed a tad more attention than usual (it's an old car, I'm an ex smoker, you get the picture...) he was a little worried that it might not be done in the time frame I needed... He came through for me though, and called me exactly five hours after I dropped off the car, which is the time frame he gave me initially. My car was spotless, and honestly, smelled brand new. I was kind of shocked. I knew it would be clean, just not THAT clean. Super impressed. Seems like he has a great thing going, and I will definitely recommend him to others. And my favorite part? I'm sure he deals with high end cars on a regular basis, and he never once winced when I pulled into the garage in my 05 Corolla! Love it! read more

For the past 3 years I have been traveling back and forth between Evanston, Chicago, Champaign, and the Northwest Suburbs. My black Toyota 4 Runner was essentially put through hell and back on my travels...everything from bugs, rocks, strong winds, bikers clipping my car, heavy building construction dust and debris, Chicago weather...you name it this 4 Runner has been through it. I always try to maintain the car, but you can imagine that it got out of hand. A regular hand wash by me no longer removed the grime on my windows or my bumper. I strongly considered detailing the car myself and have researched it the past year, but I still didn't have the tools or the time to do it. After researching several place I came across Auto Detail Chicago and Jay's fine work there. First off, Jay is awesome. He's a true professional willing to help you on getting your car's luster and shine back. You can tell he likes to do this and that he cares for the customer. The day I was going to pick up the car it was raining heavy, so he suggested to leave it in his garage just a bit longer to wait for it to pass (I didn't need the car, so why not?). That's how much he cares about his work. Bottom line, customer service is perfect. As for his work...perfect as well. He took off the swirls, bug grime, and film that has accumulated on my black SUV. I was just staring in disbelief that my car looked brand new once again. Amazing...and it smelled brand new too! It's no surprise that every review for this place is for 5 stars (except for the one guy who rated the place despite never actually finding it, but I digress). This place deserves 5 stars based simply on the work they do - my car looked fantastic and while I had previously praised a different place near my house, the work at Auto Detail Chicago is really above and beyond my previous detailing experiences. But, beyond the great work, this place deserves a thousand stars for the convenience it provides for downtown workers. Absolutely love that I can drop off my car in the morning and have it looking beautiful when I'm ready to drive home. It's actually not hard to find, just a little hard to describe...if you're driving on Kinzie there is a ramp literally in the middle of the intersection of Kinzie and LaSalle on the south side that goes below the street level of LaSalle. Go down the ramp, take a quick left, and Jay lets you in his garage (call for an appt first). After dropping the car off, you go up the elevator of the connected condo building (popping out at Kinzie and Clark) Most importantly, my first experience with Jay was phenomenal. I was in the market for a new car and and wanted my SUV detailed before trading it in so that the dealer couldn't take off any value for the condition of the interior. We were buying a pre-owned car so when I found the one I wanted on a Monday, I didn't want to wait and risk having it sold by waiting until I could have my car detailed. So I called Jay - who was booked solid for the day and suggested that I drop it off the following morning. When I told him my situation (that I wanted to go make an offer on the new car that night), he found a way to accommodate me. I dropped my car off during my lunch break (Jay made a special trip to meet me) and by 5:00 my trashed SUV looked sparkling new (kinda didn't want to trade it in it looked so good). Long story short, Jay did a great job and saved the day. I indeed traded my car in that same night and as soon as that vehicle needs some TLC, it will go back to Jay and his team. One final note, there are a lot of fancy cars in the image gallery and with the downtown location, I'm sure this is fairly typical - but don't let that scare you off...my car was a 2005 Chevy Equinox full of dog hair and strewn with all sorts of food particles from my daughter eating in her car seat. read more

You could take your car to some local car wash where some hungover hourly employee is doing a halfa*s job on your precious vehicle or you can go to Jay, who takes great pride in his business and makes sure no aspect of the job is overlooked. This is way over-due. I visited Jay in the summer, and he thoroughly deserves the 5 stars. Not only was he very accommodating with the schedule (I wanted to get in short-notice), but he was extremely pleasant and refreshingly honest. I dropped off my car the day after a long drive to and from Door County, and there were more bugs plastered on the front side than there are ants in an ant-hill. Jay didn't miss a beat - he had the car ready before the estimated time, and pick-up/payment was a breeze. His service was outstanding - he had the interior and exterior brand-spanking new. He gave me some great tips on keeping the wax fresh, and threw in some microfiber cleaning cloths. What impressed me most was that he didn't over-sell his services - he said since I park in a heated garage, I shouldn't need to visit him more than once every 6 months, tops. I have 2 loves in my life, my car and my dog, so when I realized my car had multiple marks from the jerks in my parking garage I knew she needed to be pampered. Why didn't I do this sooner? My car is like NEW! Jay is absolutely amazing - the kind of business owner that you are happy to give your money to, because he goes the extra mile to make sure you get outstanding service. I found this place after getting my car detailed somewhere else and having the passenger side window not work anymore because they used too much water when washing the inside of the door. I'm so glad I found Jay! Every time I come here I am always impressed with his professionalism and passion for his work. Even when I run late and screw up his plans he is still really nice. I literally could not think of a thing to improve the service here. He is nice, he always gets back to me right away to schedule appointments and often fits me in on short notice. He lets me know about coupons and specials he's running and gives me the discounted price even if I didn't look at his website to find the coupons first. I had been wanting to get my car detailed for a while and decided to look for detailers in the Chicago area when I knew I would be visiting. Auto Detail Chicago showed up in my search and I saw the positive reviews on Yelp. I sent an email to Jay and was able to schedule an appointment quickly. My schedule wasn't very flexible but Jay was able to work with me and got my car done in great time. The car came in with Michigan bugs, grime, dirt, salt, tar, you name it, but left Jay's shop looking clean and shiny like the day I bought it. He was able to get out the swirls and scratches that were in the clear coat. He clayed, buffed, and waxed my car to perfection, went over the car with me and made sure I was satisfied. Just got my car back from having a full interior detail done and thought they did an amazing A plus job. They were very courteous, friendly, helpful and professional. The charge was $140 and I think it was a steal! I had my car detailed by another company years ago that charged just as much as wasn't as good. They told me if I wasn't pleased with the job they did removing the cigarette smoke( previous owner) to just call and bring it back in, no charge. They aim to please. The shop was very clean as well. NOTEWORTHY POINTS: When Jay cleans the carpeting in your automobile, the finished product has the mowing pattern of a striped golf fairway. He always does a walk-around with you at the beginning and end to show your eyes a before & after. The whole service experience is tailored to you and the work is all bespoke to your specific vehicle. When you drive off, you feel that your vehicle is special again. I've been to Jay two times now for about a year (in 2 weeks will be my third). In every visit, I have the pleasure of being treated with respect and understanding about my vehicle. To be honest, I haven't been to other auto detailers for this reason: Jay puts himself into your shoes...all the nuances (scratches, smudges, grime) of your car that stick out to you, Jay will notice them too and will try his best to exceed others' standards. I'm a meticulous petrolhead. To me, a car wash and a car detail are not the same. After I approved of his work on my blue Audi, I had Jay detail my family's vehicle (Lexus LS - ultra luxury pkg) for my sister's wedding 2 months ago (I was assigned as the chauffeur). The detail was one of my wedding presents I wanted my sister and her husband to enjoy throughout their special day. They didn't notice all the nooks and crannies that Jay covered (probably more focused on the wedding itself), but they felt as though they were really being chauffeured in a limousine (a SWB version; I had driving gloves as well). My experience with AD went like this...I called on a Tuesday afternoon to take my car in early on Wednesday. Jay fit me in and told me exactly where to park. I mentioned the complete detail discount that I saw on Yelp and it was not a problem. The next morning Jay called me right before our appointment to confirm the time and location. He met me right at the door, told me exactly what he would do, how long it would take, and that he would follow up about 30 minutes before the car was ready. He even gave me a complimentary drink ticket for the Protein Bar next door! I went on my merry way and exactly 3 hours later Jay called to confirm that my car would be ready. I showed up and took a look at my car as Jay walked me through, which came out spotless! (No more granola between the seats and cup holders, all the parking permit stickers wiped clean.) I couldn't be happier with Auto Detail Chicago (ADC)!!! Jay is a wonderful businessman who knows how to take care of his customers. I found ADC on Yelp and chose them for the great recommendations I read and also for the great deal Jay was offering for the month of April. I made my appointment for a date that was convenient for me. I dropped my car off with Jay at 9am on April 26th and he promised it would be ready in the early part of the afternoon. Jay called at 1pm to let me know the car would be ready to pickup at 2pm. The car (2006 BMW Z4) looked incredible. I get weekly car washes where I park my car, but the full detail that Jay provided made the car look showroom new inside and out. He even took special care around areas that need additional attention. He almost completely buffed out a door ding. When I picked up the car Jay even spent time explaining all the special work he had done. I would have gladly paid the full price for this detail. I have already recommended ADC to a friend who has already scheduled an appointment for April 29th. If you don't get your car detailed by Auto Detail Chicago you are most likely getting overcharged and not getting the customer service you deserve. Super disappointed. Fingerprints left on back windshield. Inside very streaky. I can see where they missed whatever they used to polish the interior as some parts were shiny and some weren't. On a drab Wednesday morning, I hopped in my 5 month old Navy blue coupe with a LIGHT cream interior and set out in my normal fashion... wash, rinse, repeat with the primary focus... coffee stop first. Largest one you got, thanks! So the largest cup of mass produced coffee in hand, I set off down lake shore drive prepping in my mind for a rather large meeting that I was en-route to. Waiting at a red light about to change, I go to set my super sized coffee down and BOOM.. the newly logo'd crappy coffee cup as flimsy as it is, snapped apart from the lid, slid out of my fingers and COFFEE EVERYWHERE, including my suit and coat. 20 minutes from home, I immediately call my client and blame my new-found tardiness on fog and mist holding up traffic. Oh, it was a great meeting once I arrived in a fresh suit, 45 minutes late (still with the aroma of stale coffee permeating my from skin). Meeting down (SIGH) ... NOW ON TO ASSESS THE CAR... the car was a complete disaster. My new car with only 4000 miles on it is CAKED in coffee... every crevice, nook has coffee everywhere. The new car smell is now one of a stale, charbucks coffee odor. I flip to the back seat to see a POOL of brown liquids eating away at my once cream carpeting. WHAT DO I DO? In a panic, I pull up my Yelp app to research detailers ... I see crap and then I see an all five star detailer... Auto Detail Chicago. DING DING, THAT IS WHERE I WILL START! I called and talked to Jay and from our first call I was blown away... professional, courteous and adaptable! Having used detail places in the suburbs, I was assuming the worst and thinking that I would have to make 5-10 different calls to find someone to 'squeeze' me in. My first call to Jay was the best, he said to drop it off and he'd get started! Upon arrival, Jay greeted me, walked me through the process and what he was going to do and set a realistic expectation of what is to happen, time-wise. He calmed my fears of having a permanently coffee colored accented interior. The next day Jay and I touched base and he wasn't happy with how things turned out and wanted more time with my car. I was blown away with his approach as I know anyone else would have made a simple pass with the steam cleaners/stain treatments and called it a day. Jay explained he made 2 passes and he wasn't 100% pleased. Hours later I get a call and he seemed to be pleased with the outcome. I picked up my car and was blown away at his attention to detail and overall job! I have officially found my new car detailer. Not only are his rates for detailing GREAT, but his levels of service, professionalism are far above and beyond! Did quite a bit of research for auto detailers downtown and saw all the positive reviews here on Yelp for Jay. He was able to fit me in on short notice and was extremely courteous and professional. As previous reviewers have mentioned, Jay walked me through everything he would be doing in great detail. He finished up in about 5 hours and did a great job, especially on a 10 year old car with 110,000 miles that has lived through some horrible Michigan and Illinois weather. The work he did on the exterior was great, but I was most impressed with the job he did on the interior. The leather seats and carpet looked and felt brand new. I am selling the car this weekend and wanted it looking nice for its new 16 year old driver, but I am having second thoughts now that it looks this awesome! "Just like new!" I don't drive a fancy car. I have a Ford Escape with cloth interior. I take good care of my car, but with light colored interior, you definitely can notice more stains. Where has Jay gone -- the guy who got raves back in the River North location?? Talk about your "fly by night" business. If you care for your car, take it to Simon's or Platinum or somewhere that's been there for years, in the same place, under the same management and that has a solid rep. The photos are posted by Jesus A., the same dude whose card I was given and have held onto since my lousy experience at Auto Detail Chicago on Elston. *** first review from 2012 *** CAUTION. Not the experience or service it once was. Auto Detail Chicago has moved (where the Auto Spa, which had very poor reviews was: 2261-71 N Clybourn Ave) and their service is no longer what it was. They have a completely different team of laborers working on the cars than in their former River North location. I requested an exterior detail with vacuum and windows ONLY on the interior. For whatever reason, they refused to do my headlight lenses, which are getting just a bit cloudy. That wasn't a problem with the previous shop I used. When I returned to get my car, I was told they couldn't remember what I'd asked to be done, so they just did a full inside/outside detail for the price of exterior only (um, you had my cell #). Seems like that should be ok, right? Well, not really. I had to wait a day for the interior carpet pads to dry completely; and they'd scrubbed so aggressively on it while cleaning it, that part of the rug mat was completely bald. I suspect they inherited some staff from the former Auto Spa, which had very poor Yelp Reviews, because someone working on my car knocked a piece of my car's logo off its exterior. And the interior was shoddy, with dirt in corners and streaks where a wet rag or whatever was used, but never hit with a drying cloth. I had to go over the corners and remove the streaks myself when I got it home. On top of which, they left my windshield solution jets clogged with dried gunk -- NOTHING would come out on the passenger side. That took quite an effort to clean and now the aim doesn't match the factory preset. Don't expect I'll be back there. Sadly, I brought my car there, the Auto Detail Chicago service entry is just past the old Auto Spa yellow awning, and all this truly happened at your facility. A lot of yelpers give the place five stars by Jay's name. I brought my car here because of Jay's good name. Jay wasn't there the day my car was scheduled. The business and its reputation depends on the people you have working for you there -- and they did a poor job. I drive a black Porsche as a daily driver and it gets a beating on Chicago streets. I tried four other car detailers in the city until I found Jay. Every time I leave Auto Detail Chicago my car literally looks like new (if you have a five year old black car you know how hard that is to do). I have never written a review prior to this, but this is all too well deserved. Jay and his team detailed my vehicle just prior to the holiday. I had bought the vehicle in June and thought it looked great. I'm in sales and this thing has already seen a lot of miles and swirl marks from bad care washes! These guys made all of that go away. Simple to drop off and pick up, a comprehensive overview of what was done and suggestions on how to maintain the finish were all parts of the exceptional service. Jay and his team do an excellent job of detailing cars. The garage, though a little difficult to access at first, is extremely clean and well-organized. You could eat off of the garage floors. Jay will meet you at a convenient location (in front of 350 N. Clark) to provide directions down to his garage. Jay's customer service is also superb. He'll send you a receipt via e-mail at the time of the transaction. He followed up with me after I returned home as well, to ensure that everything was satisfactory. read more
