I loved this shop for 2-2 1/2 years until I had a recent interaction with the manager. Unprovoked, he was rude, impatient, dismissive and condescending. Unaccustomed to being treated so poorly, I promptly left only to receive a call from his staff mechanic apologizing. I don't need an apology from staff, I need an apology from the MANAGER. Bought my first in 2002 at a well known Downtown Chicago dealer who is notoriously overpriced... I took my SUV in for the first scheduled oil change service & was out nearly $500! Ouch! Then I lucked upon Bavarian Motors where "service with a smile" & "knowing it's going to get fixed the first time" still prevail. I trust these guys & I'm a woman! The same Master Mechanic works on my car as the first time I brought my car to Bavarian They perform the work or service that is asked & there is no worry of an "up sale" or "hidden charges!" If they do find something "amiss" with your vehicle, you'll receive an email then a phone call explaining their concerns/findings. In their explanation, it's been my experience, Bavarian Motors has always prioritized the repairs needed by what needs to be done right now & what can be put off for a later date. Be wary of this shop. I just experienced the nastiest customer service experience in my entire life. I came in asking if they the can code some additional features into my BMW. The guy up front told me to just go and give the list to receptionist. I went over to reception, who had no idea what I was talking about but starts making an appointment for me. I look back at the guy and just wanted to confirm that they are able to perform the service so I dont waste bringing the car for an appointment and them not being able to do it. He starts speaking to me in a condescending tone, telling me to just give the list to the receptionist. At that point I decide that this place is not a place I can trust, I try to leave, go back to my car. He follows me out, starts raising his voice. I asked him not to talk to me like that and he says "I can talk to you however I want!" Wow, what an experience. read more

I can't say enough good things about this shop. Ever since my car came out of warranty I have been using this place for annual maintenance and anything else that pops up. Sure, they change oil, trans fluid, check brake and tire wear... but what really won me on Bavarian Motors was their honestly and character as a business. When I had pretty bad grinding upon turning the steering wheel that vibrated violently through the entire steering column and to the wheel I was at a loss. I scoured the forums and read about multiple potential culprits with the steering rack, tie rods, etc... Multi thousand dollar jobs to repair. When I took it to Bavarian Motors - turns out my charge pipe (modified FBO car, which included an aftermarket charge pipe) had come loose and was rubbing on the steering assembly. Apparently not common. A dishonest shop could have raked me over the coals, but not here... they identified the issue and quickly fixed it for a couple hundred bucks. That was over a years ago and all is well. They put the customer first and fixed the exact problem rather than try to upcharge on other issues that I honestly probably wouldn't have known the difference on. That type of honestly alone, is worth its weight in gold. Just today they saved me again with an emissions issue I had been dealing with for months. My only criticism is that they don't like to deal with installing aftermarket parts (otherwise, they'd be my go-to for that too)... but I understand why as these are certified and trained BMW technicians doing thing by the book to OEM spec. Best service shop I've ever used! Needed to replace the 12v battery on my 2018 BMW i3 and get other annual maintenance done. Bavarian Motors had the best pricing of the three quotes I received from other BMW shops around the city. Robbie took the time to explain the services and recommendations. He used BMW parts and even filled my tires and drove the car around the block to ensure everything worked properly. All this within an hour of dropping the car off late in the day. Fair and reasonable pricing, excellent customer service, quick service, reliable, and accurate estimates / quotes - no upselling or other nonsense. Facts- brought my BMW in due to the thermostat being stuck open. They replaced it and how it doesn't the oil temp doesn't get to operating temperature which prevents my heat from blowing hot. In fact, the needle barley moves even when driving for some time. I bought vehicle back and they said this is normal. I asked if they replace it was genuine BMW parts and they assured me they did. I've had the vehicle for many years and never had any issues. I brought the vehicle in to this place due to them having a lot of experience w BMW repairs. Prior to selecting a shop, I received quotes and they were a lot higher than other places. However, I didn't want risk it since there was a check engine light. My thought was this is a common problem and w their experience w BMW, figured they would be able to pin point the issue without just throwing parts at it Opinion: They used an aftermarket part and their attempt to pass the buck and not take ownership. You be the judge but I would never recommend this place nor will I ever bring my car back here! read more

Haven't written a review in years, but Bavarian Motors is absolutely worth it. 100% reliable, accurate estimates and quotes for repair, no b.s. upsells or dealership level nonsense. Basically everything that all the other reviewers are saying. My second visit here was due to a water pump issue. Most other places would have gladly taken the $1600 and ran, but instead I was told that BMW has a Class Action lawsuit and it was covered. He told me what to say and sure enough when I got to the dealership, they played dumb. After a quick "search" on the internet the dealership called back and said they would cover the repairs, and would do me a "favor" to replace the thermostat.. newsflash, that was covered too. I will now take the dealerships list and come back to Bavarian for other suggested repairs. read more

Wow! This was definitely the best experience I've ever had at an Auto repair shop. I will never go anywhere else for my BMW. I went in for an oil change, to fix some issues with my suspension, and address some minor fixes. That I was just putting off. Robby was outstanding! Communicating with me daily on the progress, providing me an honest quote, and honest advice. In addition he really knows more about my car then I do, explaining why I don't need to spend extra money on things not needed, based on how I use the car. First time bringing a 2013 X5 in. I was worried that the cost of repair was going to be outrageous and I'd also get a laundry list of other issues that needed to be addressed immediately. Turns out my issue was extremely simple and the team explained to what the issue was and what they did to help prevent a similar issue in the future. Also, they confirmed that the parts that were reattached were in fine condition and didn't need replacement. My past experiences elsewhere would have had estimates to replace components that were fine and lead me to believe my issue was much bigger than it was. Bavarian Motors has earned another customer for the their honesty and not playing the dealer games. Once you're outside your factory warranty, I highly recommend you skip the dealer and give Bavarian Motors a chance to earn your business. read more

This is a great place to get your BMW serviced. They are very knowledgeable, honest and fair. When the rear hatch on my 2014 BMW X3 would not open, they quickly diagnosed the problem and replaced the rear hatch lock actuator at significantly less than what a dealer estimated. Robby also clearly and very respectfully explained that my air conditioner was not working because I had not set the "stratification" wheel correctly on my X3! Although this has rightfully resulted in a lot of teasing from my family - who's ever heard of a stratification wheel! Everyone including the office staff is friendly and easy to talk to. It's a long trip for me to bring my 535i XDrive to them because I live on the southside, an approximate 45 minute drive there, and then I have to take public transportation home and back again to pick up my car. This was my first time to Bavarian Motors based on a friend's recommendation and it did not disappoint. The team at Bavarian Motors were all super friendly, but have to say a HUGE thank you to Robby in particular! I came in for an oil change and to have my brakes looked at and Robby went through a full assessment of my vehicle. When I was previously told I needed new front brakes, Robby pointed out that it was due to a stuck right caliper and may be covered under my extended warranty. While Bavarian couldn't do the warranty work - he provided the write-up so I could have it fixed under warranty saving me over a $1,000! Robbie and his team truly are top notch techs! I've been taking my 2010 E90 to him for the last five years and they have always done superb work with quality parts. What I truly respect about BM is that they take a very honest approach to maintenance and never try to upsell any services. I've spoken to Robbie about replacement intervals on various components such as suspension and the coolant system, and he takes the time to walked me through each part in detail as the car is on the lift. My wife discovered Bavarian Motors long before I met her and highly recommended the team there. I have been many times now at both their old and new locations and they are simply the best! Extremely trustworthy, knowledgeable, efficient and great people. I have had my car serviced at Bavarian Motors seven times. That ought to be enough for a review. I am really glad I found this service shop for my BMW. I have always taken good care of my car and I really trust the team at Bavarian Motors to get it fixed right the first time. I have an extended warranty on my car and there were a couple instances where I had to commit to a certain amount of money for the technician to confirm the problem for the insurance company, but their diagnosis of the issue was always spot on. I will gladly continue to take my BMW to Bavarian Motors for repairs. For slightly more context, Bavarian Motors has repaired the following items on my car: fuel injectors, valve cover, door lock actuator, turbo inlet pipes, oil pan gasket, air conditioning condenser (in the dashboard), and again for a routine service. read more
