Before I buckled my 2.5 year old in his car seat, I placed the keys in his cup holder. At some point while buckling him, the doors auto-locked. Mark is the greatest! Toyota owners that don't have a master key any longer should read this carefully! Basically there is a vintage of Toyota vehicles (roughly 1999 - 2004) that use transponder keys for security and if you no longer have any of the master keys, you are going to end up paying $1,500 or more at the dealer to get this problem resolved. I recently purchased a used Toyota Avalon and only received 1 key, which happened to be a valet key so it wouldn't open the trunk or glove box. No problem I thought, I'll just order some blank transponder keys and program them myself using the well documented online procedures... well guess what? without having a master key the ECU will not go into programming mode so you now need to contact the dealer and they will tell you that you need to replace the ECU at great expense. I'm not one that believes the first thing I hear so sure enough I found out that there is a method to flash the ECU so that it can be re-programmed, but I wasn't sure if I could get this done locally, or whether I would have to work with a dealer $$$. I did a lot of research and found that some of the auto locksmiths can actually flash your ECU and create new master keys for you, so I contacted Auto Locksmith and explained my situation to the woman that had answered the original call. Within minutes I received a call from Mark directly and from the minute I spoke with him I knew he was competent, and not only that we arranged to meet the same day! Mark came to where my car was, and within minutes he already had a key made which could open the trunk and glovebox, he then removed the ECU, flashed it, re-installed it and programmed new master keys for me, and even made me a new valet key (no charge!). Mark's van is fully equipped and I can assure you he knows what he's doing. I now have 2 master keys, a valet key, a simple mechanical key that opens all doors etc (no transponder), AND Mark even made me a new mechanical key for my 1999 4Runner (no charge!) and also provided me with the factory key codes for both vehicles (these are the important codes that are on the brand new keys when you buy a new car, most people either lose these or foolishly throw them away). Anyway, within about 1 1/2 hours everything was done and I no longer have to worry. Mark was prompt, efficient, and courteous. And here's the icing on the cake... the keys Mark made for me are actually Toyota OEM keys, much nicer than the aftermarket blanks I had purchased on eBay. If you ever have any locksmith needs, auto or otherwise, I would certainly recommend you call Auto Locksmith first. read more

First, Mark is MOBILE which means he comes to YOU - after speaking with his dispatcher and asking for a quote, he called me within minutes to chat about my problem - he was at my door within 30 minutes! My problem? I have a Scion tC that I lost all my keys to - the dealership wanted me to tow my car over by using my roadside assistance through my insurance, they wanted 2 days to "order the key and program the car", and the wanted to charge me $320!!! Second, Mark is extremely KNOWLEDGEABLE about the locking and key systems of cars - our cars don't just need 'keys" anymore, our keys and cars have chips and computers in them that need to be RE-PROGRAMMED which is why they cost so much to replace - in my case, my scion had an engine immobilizer that is unique and needed a special chip within the key - MARK KNEW EXACTLY WHAT TO DO AND HOW TO DO IT! It only took him about 30 mins to do what the dealer said would take 2 days. Mark is awesome and turned a very frustrating situation into an educational one, he will answer all your questions and make sure that you are 100% satisfied with his service - he also takes debit cards which is extremely helpful and can help you get some money back through your insurance if you have the right coverage. read more

Fast. Friendly. Efficient. Courteous. I needed the key part of a replacement smart key for my Chevy Equinox cut. I contacted Auto Locksmith San Jose and was directed to a locksmith technician, Mark. I had the option of him coming to me, or me meeting him at the shop. I chose the latter to save the cost of a service call, and made an appointment for the next day (same day was available but did not work for me). Twenty minutes prior to the appointment time Mark called to verify. We met at the shop at the appointed time, both of us right on time. I gave Mark the key fob to be replaced and the new one, and he did his magic. Within ten minutes the new key was cut and fob programmed. He even instructed me how to have the new key recognized by my vehicle, and gave me a hand in doing so. Everything worked perfectly. And they don't just do car keys, they do all kinds of other key work too. They have a good selection of car key fobs and regular keys in the shop as well. My only regret...Not having Mark come out sooner! He was the only one I called that was upfront about his price when I asked. Having being the first place I called, I told him I still wanted to shop around. I found a different place that gave me a lower quote on the phone (I know it was naive of me but I had hoped it was true) surprise surprise when the other company came to me the price jumped higher. I called around again basically everyone gives startup ranges and when I started demanding total after tax quotes from the other companies I wasn't hearing what I wanted or everything was more expensive from Mark's quote. I called Mark back, he was really nice to not take offense and he came out to make my car key. He truly had the best price around after spending nearly my entire day searching. Called because I had locked my keys in the car. The person on the phone was nice and gave me an expectation on what would happen next. When I asked for the price I was told it was $19.95 for the call and $39.95 to get my car unlocked and the tech would inform me of any other fees onsite. At this time the dispatcher had the year and make of my car. When the tech got there he handed me an invoice for 179.99. $160 to unlock the car and 19.99 just for showing up. No can do pal. I told him I wouldn't pay this and it was ludicrous to quote 39.95 over the phone and then write an invoice for 4 times that. I completely understand that situations will dictate the fee but a range for the quote over the phone would have better prepared me for the sticker shock. Quit being elusive with your prices. let people make an educated decision before your techs waste time coming to your customers. Also, having the tech threaten me multiple times when I told him I wouldn't pay that and didn't need the service really didn't do you any favors. read more

I was on Yelp trying to find someone for making a key for my BMW. I found this place, gave them a call. The girl that answered was really nice she took my information, right after the tech there that works on BMW named Mark called me. He was able to quote me a price based on the key I had before. The price was a little better than what the dealer told me, better than that, Mark told me he could do it same day. The BMW Dealer said a couple of days. My wife's car had a door locking issue. The key would simply not turn, and the key fob was also not working. After spending 2 hours at the dealership they asked her to make an appointment so they can diagnose the issue, in two days time!? day! I looked up Auto LockSmith and got both a quote and timeframe. If you need a new key fob for your car, do yourself a favor and avoid the dealership. I have made several frustrating calls to the dealership about replacing the fob for my 2010 Charger. I manage a fleet of 50 cars so have replaced many keys, typical cost $200 - $400 depending on type of key. Well, when the Tech was done making the key he asks if I want the receipt emailed or texted. I said just text it to me, then they guy drives away and few minutes later I get the text and it's a simple message that I have been charged $708, they totally took advantage of me and charged more because it was a business!!! Oh, and the text did not include a link to an invoice either. This guy totally ripped us off! Seriously this charge was more than what I would have paid at a dealership!! I tried contacting the business to get clarification and see if there was an error and never heard back. Scummy! BUYER BEWARE stay away from this place; there are other locksmiths who charge less. I will never use this place again, our employees' loose vehicle keys, so they could have potentially received a lot of future business from us, they won't be now.

The customer service was great…read more They were really responsive over the phone and had agreed to replace my key even though they were about to close. When I reached, they happened to have about two customers before but they still assisted me. Also as a heads up, the kiosk near Dick's sporting goods is only open on the weekends. You should park near the Burlington Factory side if you are coming on a weekday. That will make it much easier to get to your car to program the key. I was in and out of the mall in about 45 min, they offered me a fair price compared to the dealership, and my key works great now!
