So today I found out my mother in law doesnt lock her car the hard way. The lock is broken, and now that I locked her car she cannot unlock the car. My son lost his key to his truck and needed a locksmith to come out and fit him a new key. When the guy finished, my son was dismayed when he said it would be $200.00 CASH ONLY. My son does not carry that much cash with him and called me to borrow the money. I was about 20 minutes away and said I would be there as quickly as I could. My son later told me the guy had attitude from the get go when he arrived (the temperature hit 105 that day, maybe that had something to do with it). My son told me the guy was complaining and riding him the whole time they waited for me (I got there in 15 minutes hauling butt down the freeway). So for maybe 30 minutes of his time and he made $200.00. So fast forward to 2 weeks later and my son misplaced the invoice to give to his insurance company so he can be reimbursed. My son called Hernandez Locksmith to request another copy of the invoice and offered to go pick it up. Not only did the guy refuse to do it but then started insulting my son calling him irresponsible and mocking him because he "had his mother bring him money" along with other rude things. Of course my son was appalled and let the man know that he has never had such rude customer service and that he just lost a customer. The man went on to say that he doesn't care, doesn't need his business because he already has too many customers! So now we are out $200.00 because this rude individual finds it too much of an inconvenience to provide a copy of the invoice to my son, after I raced to him as quickly as I could to give him "only cash". I got quoted $230 over phone for the first key and when showed up tried to charge me $275 saying it's "always" that price. Then lowered it to $250 after I mentioned it. It happened again! I lost my SECOND Lexus key in 6 months! "It's gotta be somewhere!". I'm sure it still is, and likely somewhere in my house, but it wasn't in my pocket and I had somewhere to go. Last time this happened I called a guy I got from somewhere and 2 days of car disassembly, calls for help and $995 later I had 2 keys. I wasn't going this route again. I called CSAA and the tow truck driver was there in a snap. He had the SUV unlocked in no time using an all-too-easy method. BUT, he couldn't help me out with a new key. He DID however write down the number for Hernandez Locksmith. Am I ever thankful! Mario keeps very busy; his business is 24/7 as he's not working by himself. He informed me 4 shops in various areas work together; this was "key" in my situation as he needed to use one to cut a key to my key code (the fancy one in his truck wasn't able to take my old code). Let me just say that not only was Mario able to supply with 2 brand new transmitter keys, he did so AT A FRACTION of what I was charged last time. He will tell you up front and stick to his word, even if it takes him much longer than he expected. Hopefully I won't need Mario's service any time soon. First off, you can trust Marco absolutely including his rates (I don't say that easily). He doesn't believe in lying or playing games. He genuinely cares about his work and fixing the problem as quickly as possible. When AAA messed up on my roadside assistance call (and I was stuck in my vehicle for over three hours when my key wouldn't turn), Marco called me directly to explain what had happened and gave me an exact time of arrival. True to his word, he showed up at the exact time, with his wife (so I would feel safe as a woman on my own past midnight). His wife sat with me while Marco quickly dismantled the lock and set about fixing it; he also had all the equipment to make a duplicate key. They quoted me a fair price and showed up at my home less than an hour later. The guy was friendly and competent. He had the lock done in 20 minutes and even made me a key as he said my old key was worn. No extra charge for the key. He also gave me a great tip on re-installing the lock. I had called around and discovered there are not many locksmiths who work on vehicle locks. I had been quoted a cheaper price at a locksmith shop in Redwood City but was told I would have to wait one to two hours for it as well as drive there.
