Don't go to this place because of customer service. They will try to get your money. First, they need to disclose everything that is wrong before you leave your car. Be careful of the charges assessed when you ask for service besides commonly priced oil changes. If you need to have a part changed, bring it yourself, but make sure you ask the cost before they start the service. I was charged one fee in one month and then another fee a few months later for similar services. Definite discrepancies in charges from visit to visit. They try and work things out with you but will not refund money. Also, make sure you have plenty of time to spend at the auto place. Service time varies but can be long. read more

Went in for an inspection sticker and the mechanic tried to tell me my car was 20,000 miles overdue for a tune-up and radiator flush. He was very aggressive and argumentative. Now how in heck did he arrive at that assumption?? He doesn't know my vehicle or the fact that my car is serviced every 5,000 miles at the dealership according to manufacturer's recommended intervals. In fact, the dealership reminder decal, showing that I was still 3,000 miles away from the next service interval, was right there on the upper left windshield, hidden from his view by the visor which was down. Normally I'm able to time my inspection to coincide with regular service, but was too many miles away from the next service before my sticker expired. He finally gave up on me, but not before using a tone of voice with me that implied my car would blow up if I didn't let him do this service. Stand firm, ladies!! Almost thought I found a new place to get my car maintenance done (Auto Max) vs. Goodyear in Pearland...then I come outside and my car window is down while its sprinkling outside. Then I get in my car and notice my radio is on which it never is because I always have my aux cord plugged in for Pandora. So I go to plug my phone up and my aux cord is gone. Now rewind to when I first got there, I had came back into my car to reach into my glove box to grab my insurance for my inspection. So now that I see my cord is gone I go back in and said I think they dropped my cord because it's no longer in my car. So they go get the inspection guy and he says "It wasn't in there I don't steal." So I replied "I never said you did, all I'm saying is it's no longer in there and maybe you dropped it." So we go back to my car and look. Then he goes in the garage and there is a manager (an Indian guy) and front desk guy (a black guy) and there's another black guy working on the car, I'm looking through the door and the Insoection guy YELLS "now yall two (manager and front desk guy) know me I don't steal!!!" So I come out and repeated that I wasn't saying he stole anything then he yells "she's acussing me of stealing!!!" And I just repeated that I wasnt...so then the manager turns his back to the black guy working on a car and points to him and WHISPERS to me "was it him." Smh!!!! Then the white guy/inspection guy who made a big deal and accused me of accusing him of stealing left the garage and went and found my cord where I had originally parked. So he did drop my cord like I said when he moved my car from the parking spot to the garage to do my inspection!!! But the manager wanted to blame the black guy for stealing when he didn't come anywhere near my car!!! Smh. Guess I'll stay at Goodyear. They take care of my stuff. Goodyear also doesn't put words in the customers mouth not try to accuse an innocent black employee of stealing vs. the white guy who actually worked on my car. AVOID THIS PLACE!!! CONSUMER RIP-OFF!! DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HERE; YOU'VE BEEN WARNED! Auto Max is a great name for this place. The prices here are inflated to the MAX! I was quoted a price much higher than the dealership. Then they fixed my car without approval and lied and said I'd given him the ok over the phone when all I'd told him to do was standby. He then told me that it was a nonreturnable part and since it was already installed on my car I had no choice. When I protested he had the nerve to say "I'm done talking to you". WHAT?? Two other customers (different vehicles) were protesting the same type of injustice. I later found out that 1) The alternator that they replaced wasn't even the problem! 2) The price I paid was more than the dealership and they don't even use oem parts! Probably Auto Zone! He started telling me all the things that needed to be done to my car that had NOTHING to do with my inspection. They were supposed to replace my cabin air filter but later found out they took another air filter and cut it to make it fit in my car. read more

If only I can cuss here, I would. I have yet to have an outstanding experience here. I've been here awhile back & vowed not to come back ever again but I did cause it's been a couple of years back. 3-4 yrs to be exact and I said maybe they changed. I had a very bad experienced with them back then. First I went there for a car inspection and they failed it because they said my tires need to be changed and they said that they will give me a good discount then after that they will pass it. So, I did. But when I went home I checked to brand of the tires & compared it to discount tires I was surprise of the price difference, They ripped me off. Then after a few months my car was rear ended & I went there to get a quote and the guy said that they will fix my car for a cheaper price and because they're not that far from where I live I said yes for convenience. It took them 2 weeks to finally fixed my car & I noticed the mat was muddy and my odometer which I zeroed had 150 miles on it & my gas that was full was cut down in half. I asked them about it & they told me that their shop was @ Katy & they drove it there. I said man Katy will not eat 150 miles man and they didn't even fill up my tank or clean their dirt. Also I noticed that the shocks on my back door was not working and they were charging me $200 for that. I said no and I brought it to brake check and they didn't charge me a cent. They just told me to buy it from auto zone and they will install it for me for free. by the way they said that I have 5 years warranty on my paint. After 5 months the paint was fading & I brought it back. They said that they will not honor the agreement cause the guy doesn't work there anymore. That's the reason why I stop going there, but 2 weeks ago I went back for a state inspection. I was confident that it will pass cause I had my check engine light fixed & I drove my car 180 miles already. Guess what, They failed it. They said that I need to drive it for 100 miles and when I do and it will still fail that they will diagnose it and I'll pay $120 for that and need to pay another state inspection fee. But I told the guy that I zeroed the odometer and I already drove 180 miles in. Also he said that my AC is not working. I said you got to be kidding me. I just picked up my best friend from the airport and he was complaining that my car was cold and I only had it on the low settings. He said "I only go to what the mechanic told me". I went back to my mechanic and he was surprised when I told him that my car didn't pass. I also told him to check my A/C. He said that the Freon was drained. It has 0.5 in it & I asked what it is supposed to be at? He said 1.4 I was so mad about my experience there. In short I went to another place for state inspection and what a surprise, my car passed. We have gone here for the last time! They used to be good and reliable. Now they rip you off and do not stand by their work. They rebuilt our transmission and it has not run correctly since. Also, they offered a payment plan which is the only way we could afford the transmission. They do not honor their agreements. They will take their payments whenever and as often as they see fit. They will deny that repairs were not sufficient and charge you for more repairs. They do this to men and women!!! read more

Do not take your car here if you plan on keeping it for a while. I took my car here a month ago to have some front end work done. I needed front struts and motor mounts put on the car. Well needless to say i am very disappointed in the service i received. My struts rattle and when i turn my wheel there is a clicking noise. So i took it back to them only to be told that when fixing my front end they did not fix the lower control arms that control the bushings nor did they install the mount that hold my struts together. I asked Phil why was this not found when they had my car he says sometimes they dont bother to repair that. Mistake #1. Then i tell him well "you sent me to a finance company that is charging me $3000 to finance the $1500 work that was supposed to be done" His response was well sometimes that happens, but he did not mention the fact that he forged my signature on the contract with the company and spelled my name wrong in the process. So he committed a crime by forging my name on a legal document and then had the nerve to be rude. I should have learned from the first time i went to the shop and had my breaks s and gear shift worked on not to go back because my breaks squealed as if i needed new pads the whole time till i took it to someone else to get them fixed. So now i am scared to drive my car long hauls i am forced to rent a car just to go out of town in fear that my struts will give out at any given time. I refuse to pay for a car that is clearly not fixed correctly.Take me to court if they like but i did not sign the documents nor did i ok for my car to be fixed and fucked up STILL . I went to Auto Max today 3/28/17 to have my tires rotated and my oil changed. The supervisor, Chris Hutcheson, was extremely rude to me, telling me I was going to pay full charges. I told him he was a knot-head and he said F you and as I was leaving I replied in kind. I left and went around the corner and he came running after me and struck me in the back of my head which caused me to lurch forward and I regained my balance and turned to see him dancing around like a boxer. He pushed me and I tried defending myself by using my elbow. He did a round kick and knocked my phone out of my hand. I went to get my phone and as I was backing away a car was coming through and ran over my left foot. I called the Pearland Police Department and he said he would have me killed. They came and he was arrested. He was standing outside being arrested and with one free hand he was waving at me. I ask him if he was threatening me again saying he was going to have me killed for having him arrested. At the counter, the employees are upbeat, helpful and courteous. I did not have to wait long at all for the work to be done. This Was the worse experience in customer service history. I called at 730 am day before thanksgiving asking for them to dx my window(it was not going up) and I was told no problem, and it would cost 37.50. I get in around 8am and let them know I'm here for the 37.50 dx. Mr. pete took my keys,put customer number on them and called for lou to come take the car around back into the shop...Instead they took the car and parked on the side,so i went back there to explain to the mechanic what was going on and watch them work on it to make sure it was not something I was doing wrong. Mr Pete came to me not even 5 minutes later and said i couldn't be back here because I was making the mechanic nervous. I said was there a rule that I couldn't stand by my car if its parked here on the side and how do you know he is nervous. Mr. Pete said very rudely that i can't be back here and that he would bring me back outside to see my car once they began the dx......15 minutes later, i ask if we can back to my car and look and see whats going on, he said Lou hasn't worked on it yet and I stated how do you know,you're upfront with me?Mr pete told me to calm down and he would take me back there.. i said okay. 5 minutes later he told me that my vehicle had a national bulletin for repairs that may need immediate attention. He then told me that he was going to wave the 37.50 and just charge me 87.50. I asked why did you change it from the quoted 37.50$ and adjust 50 more dollars. Mr.Pete said that he wasn't going to charge me both fees and he would just charge 87.50. I was so confused and asked him to explain one more time why my charge went up 50$..he said whatever and took a call on his cell phone. He got of the phone i asked well can I at least go back to see my car..I was told that there will not be any work done until i paid the 87. 50(I usually pay for the service afterwards since my keys are no longer in my possession)...this is now 25minute later I told him that I will step outside and make a call..After my call i came back in and said I will take my car to the dealership and i won't need the dx anymore. My dealership told me that I may still have warranty since I told the dealership that a bulletin was put out for my car, the dealership told me that there was no recall, campaign or bulletin.. Mr. Pete , 5 min later, after getting of the phone again..that I needed to pay 42$......I said for what? He said that this was for the work done to my car. I guess Mr pete forgot, he waived the 37.50$ and changed to 87.50 but no work will be done unless I paid , and now my new charge is 42$..At this point he starts to be little me, call me cheap, kick me out,tell me to never come back here again since I can't afford to pay, tell everyone to look at my name and remember it...i felt embarrassed to the core and still didn't find out why he never took in the back with my car. Mr. Pete is very rude in english and in spanish(he assumed I didn't understand the Spanish language )...I am pretty sure this isnt the first complaint against him and won't be the last. So...Took my car in a month ago for electrical problems thinking they could help me. They kept the car over night, called me the next day saying they'll have to keep it a few more hours and would call me. Not hearing anything back, I called them. They said basically they don't know what's wrong with the car that they'll have to run more tests. 3 hrs later they said they're searching for a $1000 part and will call me when they find it. Long story short, I never received a phone call; I ended up calling them again when they told me, "oh we're still looking for it. We want to get you the best deal". I show up unexpectedly looking for my car wanting to get it back so I can take it elsewhere. They said "oh it was just a computer issue. We reprogrammed the computer module and the problem is no more". Charged me $200, and I went on my way thinking it really was fixed. I go to work a couple hours later and the problem happened again!! I ended up taking it to the dealership where they gave me an accurate diagnosis (of course paying more money at this point!). The dealership said the other guys didn't do anything and that I would have to have the entire module replaced. Auto Max, if you were unsure of what the issue was, you should have told me and I would have gladly taken my vehicle elsewhere and saved my money! read more

I would give 0 stars if that was an option. I have been going here for years but visited for the last time last week. I took my Mini there because the check engine light came on when I was coming home from work. I was told it was the water pump. A day and a half later, three things were "not working" properly. $1500 and 2 days later, I finally got my car back and it drove worse than when I took it in. I popped the hood and found a screw laying there. Also, the grill was not screwed in at all. I noticed a hose hanging underneath my car and an obvious hose missing. I took my car to the mini dealership where I should have initially gone. Auto max didn't have the spine to tell me that they don't know how to work on Minis. The water pump they installed was the wrong king and is breaking and not working properly. My A/C line is rubbing against the right axle. The coolant hose was rerouted improperly (hanging out of frame). Numerous screws are missing and the wrong screws were placed to hold the headlights in place. Apparently Auto Max removed my engine to replace the water pump (Mini dealership said this was not necessary) and they put the engine in wrong with an exhaust hose missing. So now I'm up to another $1500 in repairs. Don't go to auto max. They are not honest and only want your money. MKes me wonder if things are done improperly out of ignorance or on purpose. Save your money and get the work done right at a dealership. read more
