Waited 15 minutes and was told to wait 5 minutes more because car was being pulled around. Wouldn't have hurt for TRAVIS to exhibit some customer service skills in INTRODUCING himself while we waited. This isn't your old school car dealer. I'm glad I read the reviews beforehand so that I was prepared to not expect the typical dealership where the salesperson approaches you and so on. I saw a car on their website. Went in and asked if I could see it. They pulled the car around and scanned my DL then off my son and i went, by ourselves, for a test spin. We came back and I asked if we could have our mechanic go over the car bc it was a somewhat used vehicle. They said sure, no problem. The next day, I picked up the car and left my car in their lot. I took the car to my mechanic and he gave it a thumbs up except for a few things that needed replacing. When I went back with the vehicle, we told the young man who was our salesperson about the few items and he said they would take care of every item. What? No one does that! No haggling, no "let's make a deal," talk. Two days later, bought/picked up the car all clean and shiny. Everything was taken care of as promised. I'm definitely going to return to this dealer when it's time for me to get a (new to me) slightly used car. read more

WARNING: Caveat emptor! I was interested in purchasing a 2016 Audi A8 TDI from Auto Merchants. This car was VIN #WAU3RAFD5GN002548. Despite having very pointedly asked the salesman if this car was involved in any incidents, he told it was not. After doing some research at the local Audi dealership, it turned out that this car had suffered severe hail damage and had been repainted by an unknown third party for the invoice amount of $8,800. The Audi dealership had refused to sell the car in such condition and had taken it to auction. I was very upset to discover this, but Auto Merchants was unapologetic and claimed they knew nothing about it. I find this to be very unlikely. In other words: Buyer beware. read more

Bought a car from them in 2010, a black 3 series bmw, only to find out later it was a lemon.... TRUST me and here me good DO NOT BUY from them. I did my research before going to them , and from the looks of things and car fax they gave me at the time seemed honest and legit. And because they gave me the carfax when I sat down at their dealership, I felt they were honest . Unfortunately this was not the case and after 7 months, I had to buy another new car the next year all because the information about the car I bought from them, was not disclosed at the time of purchase. Also the carfax provided from them at the time of purchase was a fake. I went back online after I started having all these problems with the car after purchasing, and saw where they had doctored up the one they gave me, horrible experience. LESSON learned...... After further researching them they are only selling salvaged, lemon, engine troubled cars that they have fixed up. Your better off buying it the right way at a regular dealership that's credible and can take care of you in the event the car is not holding up to expectations. Emphasis on the credible. Best used car buying experience we have had. Great service, good price, and very accommodating pre-purchase. They delivered the vehicle to a nearby dealership for mechanical inspection (which we paid for, so the dealership was working for us in the matter), and had the car detailed before pickup. Great service through-and-through and we like the Proprietor, a man named Sid. They are making Title and Registration easy too; we pickup the plates next week. TWO DAYS PEOPLE, after bought car they called to tell me that my plates and tag were in and would I like to pick them up or have mailed? Finally, I had my mechanic, Ali, meet us at dealership so could checkout whatever vehicle looking at buying. Apparently, my mechanic is very familiar with this dealership and most of its staff including, their mechanics He spoke very highly of them and said that, they ALWAYS make sure cars are reliable and no major issues happening and that oil is changed, fluids topped off, etc Which, made me feel so much better about our deal! I purchased a car from here about 3 weeks ago. The buy processes was actually great! Tommy the finance guy helped us through the whole process and even knocked the price down for us. Before we bought the car the tire light pressure came on. We inquired about and was told they would have it fully inspected in the morning and would add air to the tire. We picked the car up the following morning and the light was gone with a green light on the inspection. About three days later the light came back on and not only for one tire but two. I took the car to Good year and was told one had a leak and another had a nail in it. Tommy had wrote a warranty on our tires. When we took it to their network shop of Discount tires. The Auto merchants' staff could not be found. Once discount tires did more look at the tires, we where told those tires should have never passed inspection. Completely upset !!!! read more

I am very disappointed in the customer service I received from Auto Merchant. On Saturday 6/6/20 I went Auto Merchant around 3:30 pm. I test drove a Cadillac XTS. I was met by Omar and we discussed minor damages to the vehicle and negotiated the price. We came to an verbal agreement that I can purchase the vehicle as is at reduced price or they can fix the touch ups at a set price. I asked Omar if he could send me the Purchase order because I was already approved for financing through my bank. Omar texted me and ask if I can send a pic of my ID to draft up the PO. I did not receive the PO until Monday 6/8/20. As soon as I received the PO I immediately forwarded it to my bank. Me and Omar had been texting back and forth all day going over minor details while I wait for my bank to call. In the mist of our exchange Omar and I agreed on another price and I asked if he could send the update because my bank needed that exact number in order to finalize. At 3:56pm Monday 6/8/20 Omar texted and said other buyers are looking at the vehicle. I stated that I was moving as fast as I could and my bank was sending over the draft soon. At 4:50pm 6/8/20 I called Omar to inform him the paper work was finalized and his reply was the car is already sold it was nothing he could. The buyer drove 7 hours from New Orleans and what was he suppose to do not sell it. He stated I should have put a deposit down which was never mentioned on Saturday or Monday during our exchange. I spoke to the manager and he told me to try another dealership, it happens. Very unprofessional, I had high hopes for this dealership and all I got was an disappointment. read more

On 12/2008 I paid fair market value for a car that I purchased from Sid at Auto Merchants Inc. 4008 West Plano Pkwy, Plano, Tx 75093, phone 469-429-4008. I was shown a paper copy of a clean car fax that listed no accidents up through 10/2008, and was told that the car was accident free. I drove the vehicle from 12/2008 through 3/2011 without any accidents. On 3/2011 I had the car appraised at CARMAX. They informed me that the front fender had been painted, major structural damage had occurred, the radiator had been welded, and one of the engine mounts was missing. I showed them my copy of the clean car fax. The CARMAX report (ran on 3/2011) showed the auto had been repaired with major structural damage in 11/2008. Consequently my auto's value was greatly diminished. Draw your own conclusions and shop at your own risk. read more

I was attracted to Auto Merchants because of their great deals, but watch out on the low prices. You'll be back at market price or close to it after the repairs you have to make quickly after the purchase. The old addage of you get what you pay for still rings true here. At least that was my experience. I bought a car and noticed the state inspection sticker was expired, so they took it next door to a mechanic who passed the car. Well, about 3 weeks later when I took the car in for the 45K maintenance check up, I was told there was no way the car should have passed. The back two tires were bare on tread. Additionally, the brakes were completely done in including the rotors as well as a few belts needing replacement. Fortunately, I called Auto Merchants and they were willing to pay for new tires (cheapest ones available at discount tires, of course) as the car was represented as being fit to pass inspection and wasn't. Still this was a decent gesture and the reason for the second star. I suspect they have arrangements with the mechanic next door which is probably why the car was passed in the first place...though one cannot be sure. They could just be poor mechanics. All in all, I still feel like I got a decent deal because the car was priced well below market so even with the rotor, break pad, and belt replacements, I still came in at or below the other deals available. It just doesn't sit well with me when someone sells me something that their on staff mechanic knows or should know needs immediate repairs and replacements. I know that cars wear down and will need maintenance. That's no shocker, but be up front with people. I obviously should have gotten the car independently inspected before hand. Went here ready to purchase a car in cash! No one even acknowledged that we were there. The receptionist or door greeter or whatever she is acts as if she doesn't even want to be at work. She told me to come back because the guys were preparing for a hail storm and all the cars were in the garage. I clearly saw all the cars parked on the lot. Mind you, it did not hail. I called the next day and her demeanor and attitude was still as nonchalant and unprofessional as the day before. Upon visit to test drive the car, "Sid" said they quoted the wrong model yesterday and it was actually a higher price. Knew it was deceptive because the best price he quoted did not match any of the "correct" (older) models for that price (best price was $5K higher than the price on any of the older models that were available). I bought a 2005 Nissan Frontier from Automerchants (Sid) back in 2007. At that time I was shown a completely clean CarFax report. Well last night 8/24/2011 I was at a local Chevy dealership ready to make a deal on a Tahoe. I had my Frontier to be appraised for a trade-in. Well my salesman comes back and shows me his CarFax report on my Nissan showing "Structural Frame Damage". It showed Sid acknowleded the damage when he bought the Frontier at the auction back in 03/2007. The Carfax report from the Chevy dealer showed this damage being reported to Carfax in July 2011!!! just last month! I don't know what kind of scam he's got going on there but that pissed me off!!! That cost me $3500.00 on my trade-in. I'm telling you, don't buy from this dude, he's scamming folks that's why he his prices are so competetive.
