Honest diagnosis and pricing, which is not easy to find in this area of work. Had some superficial damage and at least a year later noticed there was some issue with the car window having some interior residue from the same door panel that was taken off for the paint job they had done earlier. When the dealership offered to diagnose the problem for $180 before even potential parts/labor were calculated, I called the manager here, described my issue, and he stated that they stand by their work and was willing to take the door down to have a look at no charge and assess the problem. Turns out it was a few loose screws and after a little tightening the window issue resolved and they did it within a few hours at no charge. Pretty much encompasses all you need to know about what sort of service and integrity you will find when you bring your vehicle under their care. Would recommend without any reservations. read more

My 1999 Toyota 4Runner was struck by a hit/run driver causing the front driver side door not to open due to it being pushed up against the front quarter panel due to the idiot that struck my truck and left; this truck has been super dependable with 288k miles. Using my car insurance was not my first choice due to the vehicles age and mileage. All I wanted was a body-shop to get the driver side door to open. I drove by AUTO STAR because I saw their sign up...stopped in and told them I could pay them to pull the door off the panel so it would open. Mike stopped what he was doing, got his tools and in less than 10 minutes he fixed the problem allowing the driver side door to open....ALSO, the damaged running-board had an issue due to the crash so he did a quick fix on that also. I told Mike that I could go get some cash or he could charge my credit-card for his efforts/fix...Mikes response was "...IT WAS NO PROBLEM, DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT....". This is the sort of business I would take a more serious autobody repair to because this guy runs a shop that is NOT out to take advantage of others and is NOT about making a quick buck (which he could have with me). He then gave us a quick price quote to repair a crinkled and scraped rear passenger door and front bumper that was reasonable, and projected that we'd have the car back four days after dropping it off. Two days after we dropped it off, we were pleasantly surprised to receive a call that the car was ready to pick up. The results looked impressive and the car appears virtually brand new. Auto Star Auto Body shop is phenomenal​. We are an active duty Military family, and during our move to FT Belvoir, we needed to tow one of our vehicles with a U-Haul tow dolly. As a result of one of our tire straps coming undone during the trip, our running board and passenger side front panel were damaged to the point we could not open the passenger door. I went to get an estimate to determine if this was something that would need my insurance company to get involved with reference to​ the damage. After talking with the guys in the front office, they told me that they could get me back up and running for a minimal cost. When they were finished, I couldn't believe how good of a job they did. After reading the other reviews on the site, I decided to give this place a try. I needed to replace some molding and buy some touch up paint for a leased vehicle. Well, instead of me buying the paint and doing my own touch up, they buffed, touched up, etc., in addition to replacing a piece of molding I scratched up. The manager (didn't get his name) was friendly, professional, and honest. I paid for the part, he ordered it, then I waited while the work was done. He told me up front that he could improve the paint stuff by 80%. Well, I think he did a better job than that. The deepest scratches were faint and everything else was buffed out. I couldn't be happier. I am waiting the final disposition of the car I turned in, but I am positive there will be no extra charges. Any future body work (I can only hope for zero) will be done by these folks. I am so glad I didn't make it to a body shop closer to me and decided to do a search. I doubt I would have gotten the same service as I got here. read more

I took my car in on a Tuesday for bumper damage (someone literally backed into my car while I was idle in the drive thru smh) and my baby was good to go by Thursday! I couldn't believe the speed in which my car was repaired. Literally, got an estimate on Monday, decided to drop my car off on Tuesday and by Thursday my car was fixed. I was blown away the moment Mike performed the estimate. I wanted to share my experience with Auto Star and also Mike Balian, whom I believe is the shop manager. I hit a deer on my way home from BWI airport and took my car to Progressive to file the claim. The Progressive agent stated that the car would be repaired by a shop that they frequently work with and that it may be 5-7 business days before the car was returned to me. Additionally, the Progressive location was in Alexandria which is a bit of a distance from my home. I decided to check Yelp for shops closer to me and came across Auto Star. After reading the three reviews (2 positive, 1 a bit suspect as "lier" and "hussler" were used in the review, whatever those mean. Haha) I asked the Progressive agent if he had ever heard of Auto Star. He stated that he's been working in this territory for quite some time and that he'd worked with Auto Star a lot at the previous insurance company he worked for. He said he knew Mike and that the shop does good work. That was enough for me to further discredit the "review" posted by Assraf and pay them a visit. As soon as I began speaking with Mike, he noticed some damage from the deer that was not identified by Progressive and said he'd work with Progressive to get them to cover the damage that was directly attributable to the incident. I was grateful for that offer as I don't have the time nor the knowhow to argue with the insurance company over damages. Mike described to me exactly what the repairs would entail, what the price would be, and what he'd further fight for Progressive to cover. He also stated, that they'd do their best to take care of any minor blemishes not associated with the incident as they'd already have the car in the paint booth. A few days elapsed and even though the Progressive agent was dragging his feet, Mike got the additional bumper damage and tire rub covered! I was extremely pleased with this. When I picked up the car, it looked wonderful. Auto Star and Mike B. exceeded my expectations by far in every aspect. I talk to the owner who isnt Mike and he was rude as hell to me, for no reason .Not only was the repair job bad, now i have to pay for more body work because of more damage caused in there parking lot.
