Ed is the man. I've gone to him two times already both times were really good. For the first time (last Dec 2014) he took out the transmission off my Mk6 GLI 6 speed and installed a southbend stage 3 clutch for my car. He also replaced my slave cylinder/bearing within the transmission as well. He charged me a really great price in which I find is really fair for the customer and for him as well. I've called about six different shops and they were charging about 40% more than what he charges. Anyway last week, I was pulling out of a gas station and all of a sudden my car stalled while I still had the clutch pressed. Couldn't get my car into gear when I turned my car on, so I pushed my car into a stall in the gas station. Looked under and saw transmission fluid leaking from under my car and thought to myself, there goes my transmission. After calling my insurance, I had my car towed to a mechanic shop when they were closed and left my car there overnight. Called them in the morning and they were pretty grouchy and inquired in quotes from them in which was a lot. Then I thought of Auto Trinity and my problem was getting a tow company to tow my car 30 miles from point A to auto trinity. And I did all the calculations that it would cost the same if I were to stay at the mechanic my car was at as opposed to getting my car towed to auto Trinity (tow cost and labor cost) but the only thing that weighed it down for my car to stay at the first mechanic was I wouldn't need to spend X amount of time to get my car towed and going back home. Well anyway, reason why I still chose Ed was because he remembered me, he was fair in his prices and best of all he was nice. Honestly, I'd rather have a nice person work on my car rather than a grouchy person. Common sense right? Anyway I had my car towed to Eds place on a Wednesday afternoon and he was fully booked that day but still made room for my car. He said he will get on it in Thursday in which I was scheduled to go to a car show in Vegas Thursday. Thursday came and got a call from him saying he before he would take apart my transmission to see what's wrong, he saw a broken clip outside of my transmission that was leaking transmission fluid and said he ordered the part for it and wouldn't come Friday. I was pretty bummed that my car wouldn't make it to Vegas for the European car festival so I still left with a friend to Vegas for the weekend that Thursday night. Friday afternoon I get a call from Ed with good news saying my car was ready and it was the broken clip that caused my clutch to not have hydraulic pressure anymore. Anyway I was 280 miles away from his shop and it was Friday afternoon, and the show was about to start that evening and went on throughout the weekend, I grabbed a friend and drove straight home and picked up my car and drove back to Vegas within 8 hours plus a damn speeding ticket. We brought our car which was having some engine problems. Ed did a free diagnostic which took about an hour or so then informed us on all the parts needed to be replaced. When we brought our car back the next day once the parts had arrived he had it fixed up and ready to go within a few hours. I've been to AT a couple times since I've moved out here, once for a lightbulb change, a coil pack replacement, and most recently a sway bar/steering repair. Having been to my share of auto repair shops, Ed and the team here are different right from the first phone call. They're friendly, and they try to get you in as soon as they can. When it's time for your appointment, they're great at actively listening to you and your concerns, and they explain repair options in a way that leaves you feeling knowledgeable and empowered to make good decisions. Ed is honest and transparent about costs, and after being here several times, I believe AT is a place that genuinely puts the customer first before making a quick buck. As a perk, the lounge area is spiffy with good magazines and wifi, but if your repair takes a little longer, you can kill time at the Americana megamall within walking distance. This place, this guy deserves a 55, not a 5! Customer service is the way to go nowadays, and Ed knows all about it. He greets you with a smile, he informs you about the different solutions that can be made, and he keeps you at ease when it comes to making the final payment. When he says it, he means it, that's when you know you have a mechanic to go to in the future. We all know that German vehicles, such a BMW's, Mercedes, Audi's, VW's and Porsche's can be difficult and costly to work on, but he knows at all. With several years as a Audi/VW specialist, his knowledge is beyond your "regular" mechanics. My issue was costly, and overpriced at other places. I got 3 quotes, one from Volkswagen Glendale, another from a mechanic in Burbank and the 3rd from Hollywood. A buddy of mine recommended this place and my problem was solved at a much lower cost then the other places. Ed did a great job quickly fixing up some issues with my Toyota, which has a bunch of undercarriage rust from its time in Michigan. Offered a good rate and even covered the tax; when my family heard how much he was able to do, they thought that would be a great value for similar repair work done in Michigan, let alone in expensive LA. And it's been running great after driving it around for several weeks already! These guys were solid - Ed and "Ed" (Edwin) - got me out of a difficult jam with my at-fault minor collision causing damage to the right front bumper, fender, light, and hood/frame damage. They were able to find parts and get it all installed same day and at the same time buffed off a sideswipe paint thing and polished my other left light to make em match. While we still drove a Japanese car, we would take it into Ed because he was honest, did quality work and was just an all-round nice guy. I tried reaching his shop today because I needed some work done on our last ICE vehicle (we have gone mostly electric), and to my dismay, his phone seemed disconnected. Drove by the shop on my way into to office to see what was up only to discover he was gone and a new outfit had taken his place. According to his neighbor he closed up on July 1. I've had issues with my vehicle prior to seeing Ed from Auto Trinity and it seemed like the problem would be endless. Ed is professional, courteous and most of all HONEST! My engine was misfiring, he looked at it even though he was stacked with cars to complete. Gave me his honest opinion and told me to save money by returning to the original mechanic who caused the issues. I still didn't get the issues handled by original mechanic and returned to Auto Trinity they found the problem (loose spark plugs and wire connection) overall an easy fix, charged me for the labor time only. He could have overcharged me and said parts needed to be replaced. But he said all the parts are In working order they just needed to be tightened down. So far, in 12 years of living in Los Angeles, I've found exactly 3 mechanics that I trust and will sing the praises of. Ed at Auto Trinity is one of them. The first day at my new place, my car decided to be a dick and break down. I knew from the minute it started messing up that it was transmission related, meaning LOTS of money. Luckily the tow truck driver recommended Ed who he knew from another dealership and had opened his own shop. Normally, I'd be wary of a new mechanic, but the way everything was handled, I felt completely confident in his ability and honesty. Ed actually drove the 15 minutes to our house to just give us an estimate of what was wrong with the car. After he gave it a look he knew it was the differential and that it was a common problem with this make and model car. He had the car towed on his own dime and even drove the car back when it was done, because I have a baby and it was hard to get out and pick it up. Not only that, the price for the transmission, new mirror, and driver side window to be fixed was AMAZING. He even threw in an antenna (mine was stolen...go figure), put on my new windshield wipers that I had been procrastinating putting on, and gave my car a wash. WOW!! Since then, I've had my battery replaced and another small repair fixed. Turn around time is great and Ed stands by his work. Did I mention that he's also just an all around nice guy? After 6 years of going to various mechanics who ripped me off, then going to the dealership where I paid over the top dealership prices I can honestly and wholeheartedly say that Ed is hands down the most honest, nice and affordable mechanic that ever crossed my path. Ed charged me less than a half than what the dealership price was. I had the coolant flange replaced by him for $120. The dealership price was estimated at $280-$400 (depending on how bad the damage was, as they said). My car runs great now and i will go back to Ed from now, although he is all the way at the other end of town in Glendale, while I live in Mar Vista. It doesn't matter. Ed was recommended to me by a friend at VW & I have to say it was the best thing that has happened to my car in a long long while. His work is always spot on simply because he seems to actually care about what he's doing because he wants you to come back as a customer. Put it this way, he fixed a problem that my GTI was having for the past 2 years that the dealership couldn't figure out. As many times as I explained the incident to them they couldn't figure out the problem to fix. Took the car to Ed. Problem was fixed in 2 visits. Finding a mechanic who is both good at their job AND honest in their dealings with you, is considered a tall order these days. However, Ed at Auto Trinity fulfills this order in leaps and bounds. Not only does he provide quality work but he will outright tell you how serious or not serious an issue is with your car - even though he could make more money off of you by making a mountain out of a molehill. It's hard to find a trustworthy mechanic that won't take advantage of you (especially when you're a younger woman who obviously knows nothing about cars). Ed is an amazing mechanic trained in Germany and worked for Audi and VW for years. Ed will only fix what needs to be fixed and will not try to up sell or pressure you into doing anything. He's very honest, upfront, will give you a fair price, and a personable man. My car's transmission needed to be rebuilt and Ed sat me down and walked me through my options. He never pushed me or tried the scare tactic that some mechanics try using "if you don't fix it, then...(fill in the blank with worst case scenario bullshit). I can't forget to mention he took the time to help bring my car to his shop since I was afraid it wouldn't make it. How amazing is that? And his follow through is spot on! I visited Ed for the second time yesterday, the first time being a visit a few months ago where I ended up not getting work done on Ed's recommendation. Thats right, a mechanic to told me that I didn't need to shell out the money yet and could get by for a while longer. Let's face it, everyone has their share of unscrupulous auto repair shops especially in Glendale. When I came to see Ed on my first visit regarding an oil leak. He was very personable yet professional. After inspecting the car on a jack at no charge his analysis was refreshingly honest. Don't put any more money into the engine due to the age. Since I was in-between job my vehicle was becoming a money pit burning through my funds. It became a love and hate relationship. Nevertheless, I kept Ed's shop in mind the next time my car needed to be serviced. First impression made a difference. In a few weeks, my engine light turned on. I was kind of peeved when I drove to his facilities he couldn't scan the car. Commented the shop was too busy and to swing by another day. It really doesn't take that long to scan the car computer - a few minutes tops. Anyways, I just drove a block over to the next shop who scanned the car in 2-3 minutes. After translating the engine code, I dug up the problem online - the bank one oxygen sensor went bad. I proceeded to order a name brand part (Bosch) on eBay, for more than half the price repair shop suppliers and O'Reilly charges. Cut the middle man and purchase the parts yourself. When I received the the new O2 sensor in the mail. I drove to Auto Trinity on a slow day for the shop, Ed didn't flinch when I asked him for the labor cost to replace an oxygen sensor. His quote was affordable compared to other shops in the area. I called ahead to other shops to get a price point range. He then proceeded to retrieve the oxygen sensor in my passenger seat and took the car into the garage immediately. My impression with Auto Trinity is their service is professional, and depending on your small repair job reasonable priced. But they can be spendy with the labor cost on certain jobs. So be diligent call couple of places to get prices and labor duration. As always, be a smart consumer and do your research on your vehicle. A TRUE five star experience! Ed and his team are incredible. Things that set them apart to me are: amazing customer service, quality and fair price. I have been taking my VW's to the dealer for over a decade and while their customer service was pretty darn great the prices were exorbitant. I was hanging in there while I still had warrantees on each. Since the last one was up I started looking around and most places I tried were filthy, slow to turn around and honestly sometimes I wasn't even sure the work was actually done since they didn't keep and show me the old parts (Ed does this and is very upfront about everything he does.) The experience here was amazing, Ed's incredibly knowledgeable and can find parts at discounted prices for some things and the rates are very reasonable. The place is pretty tidy too (for a repair garage,) and when you go to pick up your car he goes over everything that's been done in a way that's easy to understand. He also shows you the replaced parts and gives you a very detailed typed receipt/invoice (which is great if you ever need to go back over your records to see if something had already been done.) The part that really sets Ed's business apart from so many other auto repair places is the level of customer service. Even when you call you'll get what I mean. The team was very attentive and knowledgable, even with a small service like an oil change. After looking at my car he made sure to clearly explain everything to me, he also showed me the problems so I could get a better understanding. I went in for what I thought was one problem but ended up being 3 seperate issues, unlike other shops there was never any pressure to get it all fixed at once...heck he didn't even pressure me to use Auto Trinity. V offered to keep my car over night since he suggested I not drive it and told me to think about what I wanted to do. Who does that????
