Probably the nicest and most generous auto shop I've been to. My car stalled on the 405 due to overheating and AAA recommended these guys. I double checked with yelp before the tow truck came and sure enough, their reputation was good. When I got there they went above and beyond, doing me every favor with regards to the leanest estimate they could give me to help get my 13-year-old car back on the road. They price shopped for parts and included the estimate cost as part of the labor. Despite having to leave my car overnight, they didn't charge any kind of 'storage fee', or really any kind of shake-down fees that other shops try to pull. Charles and Matt are first class people, I'd recommend any close friends or family to take their car here. Their AAA endorsement is well-earned. read more

On a rare occasion, you get to review a business that is just stellar. In LA, it's doubly rare. But in LA, to be able to review such a business and then realize that it's family owned and operated...well, it's like you're transported back to Main Street USA, in the 50s, where the mechanic tells you exactly what's what and everyone knows your name and you can stop holding your breath because you're going to be treated like a real person rather than a "mark" to gouge for as much money as possible. Such an idyllic place exists at AutoAid. Jack and David run a tight ship. They make sure you understand what's going on with your auto (for those of us who are non-mechanically-inclined!), and they consistently and uniformly do the right thing. They are, in a word, trustworthy and do exceptional work to boot. They are a testament to the belief that integrity and honor still exist. Who'da thunk it? To find that at an autoshop? I took my car in, after I was rear-ended and sandwiched between two cars. These guys took care of me from the moment I walked in. They went above and beyond with helping me get my rental, not to mention the great work they did on the car, which looks like new. I've never had a better experience at any other body shop. I was parked near this shop and someone told me there was a piece of material dragging from underneath my car. It was a piece of the car that hand been clipped into place but was now only hanging on by one clip. I went on Yelp and found this shop right around the corner so I pulled in and showed the guys my issue. I have been looking for a reliable shop since I moved to LA 2 years ago, and these guys are the metaphorical glass slipper for my car. My car broke down the other day, and one of the truck drivers abandoned me. When my car was finally towed after sitting in a hot car for two hours, they were incredibly empathetic and did everything they could to make me feel better. They even gave me a discount and offered to drive me around wherever I needed until my car was fixed. I was charged $135 for diagnostics. Not only is this higher than any other mechanic has charged me, none of the fee was applied toward the repair offer. One of the problems was getting a new gas cap, and they were going to charge me $66. I went to Autozone and bought the same cap for $10. There was a sensor replacement that was going to cost $400, but another mechanic down the street charged $300. read more

I'm extremely disappointed with AutoAid I thought i had finally found the right place. Only to find out i was extremely wrong...My engine light had gone on went to them ended up paying 600.00 for a catalyc Converter....was back to them in less than 2 weeks because my engine light had gone on again...so they tell me now my car needs some more work done which will cost me 598. and some change I said no thanks because I can't just fork out another 600....took my car to 2 different shops both places told me I was getting over charged and that the catalyc converted they had put on my car wasn't even a honda one and for them to have charged me as much as they did was insane! I will never go back to autoaid what a total rip off! read more

Came here to get my car fix because of good review but unfortunately mine was not. I thought I was getting good price but decided to check around as I wait. They over charge me but couldn't say anything because my car was already getting worked on. I am definitely not coming back here anymore. I had been a loyal customer of AutoAid for about 3 years, when I had them change the timing belt on one of my cars. After the service, the car's engine sounded different and was much louder, etc. A few weeks after my service, I returned and told them about this problem and how it was different from the moment I picked up the car. Jack had his tech look at the car and they came back to me saying that "an engine mount needed to be replaced" and that it probably "just happened around the same time as the timing belt service." I went to the dealer to have it checked out. They said the engine mounts were fine and that the timing belt was probably not installed / adjusted correctly and suggested that I go back to AA and have them look into it. AA looked at it and still stood by their work and said it was engine mounts or something else, but not the timing belt. I was so frustrated that they would not own up to this, that I stopped going there and started to go to the dealer. After a few years of driving around with this noisy engine, it was time to replace the timing belt again, I did it at the dealer, and my car sounded normal again. YEAH!!! I know that there is a lot of labor involved with replacing a timing belt. So if it wasn't done correctly, I can see where that could cost the shop time($$) by having to go in and take it out, etc. So, I don't know if... 1) the service tech screwed up and wouldn't own up to it and tell Jack the real problem 2) Jack / his son didn't want do all of that work with out getting paid for the time (so they suggested an engine mount replacement to get in there take care of what ever the problem was) 3) AA really thought it was an engine mount But with any of those scenarios, it was enough for me to stop taking my business there, which was a bummer because I like Jack and his son, but I feel like they refused to believe me when I said, "I brought the car in and it sounded normal, I picked the car up and it sounded totally different. Um hello! Why has no one reviewed this yet?! After moving to the valley with a 20 year old car about 3 year ago I knew it was only a matter of time before something would break on my car. I spent the first two years of my stay down here going to untrustworthy, over priced, dirty, shady car repair garages. Then the father/son team at Autoaid & Rescue, well, came to my rescue. My husband was shopping around for local AAA approved garages and happened upon Autoaid. He loved their friendly customer service, reasonable prices, and straightforward talk. And for being his driver to and from the shop we were given a "taxi" certificate good for a free oil change (and all the extras that usually come with it). So when it was time to get an oil change I took my car into Dave at Autoaid. I was thoroughly impressed with the high level of customer service I was given and his garage's work on my car. So much so that when he recommended that a few extra urgent repairs be made, I actually listened to him and returned there a few weeks later to have them done. Just out of curiosity I shopped around a bit to find pricing on the repairs I was having done and no one even came close to Autoaid. Since I didn't have a ride back home after dropping my car off, Dave even offered me a ride. Please stop shopping around each time you need a repair and just take my word for it. Once you have you car serviced here you will never look at another repair garage again. read more

This auto shop advertises "female friendly" as a lure to bring in naive women to take advantage of... I was charged exorbitant fees for basic work like polish vehicle, $499, and steering fluid flush w/kit, $250. I put my foot down when they quoted $950 to replace my engine mounts. One is broken, which I ordered new online for $50 and I can replace myself, 1 bolt on either side, easily accessible. Watch out ladies, and gentlemen too, these guys look good but they'll gouge you. read more

Dropped the car off, got a call a couple hours later tellimg me its just a small thing. I was expecting a few thousand dollar transmisson repair and instead spent less than $100 . As a single mom I dread auto mechanic 'stuff' and being taken advantage of... I didn't feel taken advantage of here and there were 4 other single women getting their cars repaired on the day I was there. My first time here a week ago and I was welcomed with the friendliest greeting, could be considered a Disneyland Hello! The staff, from the front desk to the garage, was extremely courteous and knowledgeable. The waiting room was clean and organized - they had a variety of magazines that were current and arranged by date. There is a cozy kid area that my son enjoyed and the kid chairs are pretty comfy that I didn't mind sitting on them while reading him a book. A big flat screen TV for further entertainment. The bathroom was sparkling clean and fresh. Coffee and filtered water was available. And this was just the waiting area. The service to my vehicle, an oil change, was taken care of professionally and timely, and they went beyond the duty by helping with a bulb that needed replacement. When my car was finished I was given a complete report of what was done, what was further needed (nothing!) and my bill which was at a great discount. I definitely recommend this place! I got my car fixed here last week and was pleasantly surprised. I've never met an auto mechanic I trusted, but after speaking with Per and David, I do feel that AutoAid & Rescue are a trustworthy place to get my car fixed. They diagnosed the problem very quickly, and if it wasn't for a specific part that they had to order (for my 20 year old car) my car would have been done within the day. When I went in to pick up my car, David was greeting other customers by first name as they walked in (always a good sign). The lines of communication between us were always open and they kept me informed of all changes and decisions as well as answered all of my phone calls and questions. The drawback, however, is that they are more expensive than other mechanics (do your research and you will see this) but it's a trade off. Cheap and shady, or more expensive than normal but trustworthy? That's for you to decide, but they DO know cars, and they DO have very good customer service. read more

Your car will break down. Your cousin's brother may have "a guy" who can fix it for cheap. It will still break down again. Your friends' boyfriend also has " a guy". This guy charges half of what your estimate is. Car repairs are expensive. Period. Does your cousin's brother pay for your rental because your car repair is proving problematic? No? Well, Auto Aid did that for me. I have an older vehicle and keep her running great. I've been bringing her here for a couple of years now. They take care of me, my car, and now my husband's (the sceptic) car. I am really happy with the level of service, plus I use the rewards system they have. Repeat business saves me some dough. Just an FYI~They charge a pretty hefty pricetag to diagnose your cars' problem. That diagnostic doesn't come off the bill or get incorporated in the repair cost. This is usually where your cousin's bothers guy may look like the better deal. Or your roommate knows exactly what's wrong with your car and "did they check the flubberbutter or krimmynooks"?? yeah, yeah. Everybody's an expert. I'll trust the guys at AutoAid. David and Per are wonderful and at this point, I feel they know my car better than anyone. I'll pay to have it done right. Efficiently, quickly and with the personal service they provide. read more

Outstanding service!!!!! Honest, intelligent and fast. THE BEST - BAR NONE! David and the crew pinpointed an exhaust issue I had been battling for months. Ford, a gas station service unit and an exhaust specialist couldn't diagnosis. These guys had it nailed in five minutes. The repair was quick and flawless. Right before Thanksgiving I might add. UPDATE: Sorry so late, guys. Just wanted to add that they busted their ass to fix a faulty part that had been replaced..not once..but twice. I know because I saw how hard (I believe his name was Piers?) was working and sweating on the job. I have an older car and reliable parts are getting harder and harder to find, especially if they come from China, which is out of their control. I still think they are a bit on the high side, but I can't complain ..they honored their warranty and fixed the problem while I waited, and we're always very polite. I am an auto broker and dealer and I have them complete safety inspections on cars that I want to retail to my clients as well as complete any necessary repairs. They are timely and honest. Recently I had a Saab that needed repairs for a customer of mine, they are not Saab specialist, but they gave me an estimate and told me their thoughts. After wasting money with a Saab specialist to get a second opinion, I realized that they Auto Aid was spot on with what the car needed. nice first visit, nice first impression. crossing our fingers for the dropping of the other shoe. extremely clean and orderly shop on a quiet tree-lined street off of van nuys blvd., across from the post office. they book appointments and took us early. aaa-approved. the two honchos running the place were personable and polite. after filling out a few howdy forms they proceeded with their standard inspection, an exhaustive checklist that quickly uncovered issues undetected by two previous alignment shops and one mechanic. the mechanic and one of the bosses guided us around the undercarriage and pointed out their concerns. their analysis seemed reasonable and their recommendations logical. we were not charged for the inspection or the quick wrenching on a rack and pinion bolt that had apparently lost its fastener and worked itself out. the estimate, however, is still pending due to limited availability on some 20-year old toyota factory parts. que supra, supra... read more

This review is for the collision side, I'm pretty surprised that they don't have separate Yelps because it is a different office on Delano St. These guys were recommended to me by a client of mine. I ended up driving to the repair side first and was met by Jack, who is the sweetest guy. He drove with me to the collision side and introduced me to my new buddy Ciera. She took amazing care of me, got me a quote faster than expected and reviewed the work done to my car prior to me coming in so they could make a few last minute touch ups so I was totally happy by the time I went in to pick it up- seriously you can't even tell it was damaged. Auto Aid's initial quote was only $9 higher than the lowest I had received, and then Michael, the gentleman who runs this side of the shop, gave a nice discount since I was paying out of pocket due to the circumstances of my accident. Even without the discount, I would have went with these guys because of Ciera's awesome attitude and Jack's initial warm welcome. My only criticism is that there is some paint on one of my tires, which I believe will come off with a brush and some elbow grease, this was offset however by the fact that these guys did a quick wipe down and vacuum of the interior, which was a pleasant surprise. Absolutely highly recommend and will use in the future if needed. read more

I was searching online for a DIESEL MECHANIC, when I found Auto Aid & Rescue, I took my truck to them, and the moment I interacted with them they were really professional and inspected my vehicle in a really fast time. They were able to find out really quick what was wrong with the engine, and gave me a good price on repair compared to my past mechanic. Not only their prices are good but their customer service and work is excellent. When you depend on your truck for work, you need a reliable and honest mechanic. Thumbs up for this business. I took my vehicle to Keyes Toyota for an oil change and they told me a had a leaking transmission gasket and wanted to charge me several hundred dollars to replace it. I decided to take my car to AutoAid to do the work (they were a lot cheaper). Auto Aid wiped the area clean (emailed me photos of the area) and test drove my car and told me they didn't see it leaking. They recommended to keep an eye on it instead. They could have easily charged me and replaced it, but they're extremely honest. They have a customer for life. I will be bringing them my wife's car next. read more

I agree with all of the reviewer who have used Steve's Jaguar service. They are honest and good at what they do. They were able to diagnose my A/C problem and fix it right the first time. They have a Jaguar dealer's diagnostic equipment which greatly helps in their line of work. They also give you a through explanation of what work they did and the diagnostic flow chart they used. By the way they also have great mechanics one of whom is probably from England! read more

I just moved to the area and I needed to find a place to take my car for an oil change. I found this place through Yelp and I'm very happy with my experience. The entrance to the shop is clearly marked and all you have to do is drive in. Everyone is really friendly. The shop is also very clean, probably one of the cleanest shops I've ever seen. The owner even asked me what made me choose their shop and personally thanked me for coming in. I also like that they have a rewards program. All the money you spend her gives you points which can later be redeemed for loyalty certificates. You can also get points for telling your friends about the shop. I will definitely be going back for future oil changes and any problems I have with my car. read more

I had this annoying shaking in my front tires when I braked. I took my car to another shop and they told me I need to replace my rotors and do a total brake job. Found this one as I was searching for another car repair shop through Yelp, and the reviews looked pretty stellar and real. I moved down here ten years ago from Seattle and I've never found one car repair shop that I liked. From one chain not fixing the right stuff to another chain with employees disagreeing whether or not I needed a new air filter and then telling me that my wiper fluid mechanism was busted before I left and it worked just fine. Went to one place when I first moved here on Highland with a coupon for an oil change, and they poked a hole in my radiator and brought me in to see how it was leaking like Niagra falls. Didn't report them because I thought the Russian mofia might come nockin. So anyway it got me to thinking that the mom and pop shops might be better because these chains have constant pressure to perform year in and year out, therefore pushing you into stuff you might or might not need. So anyhow, I schedule an appointment, because my steering wheel has been shaking lately on the freeway. I go in there around 8am and park on the side to make sure my first impressions are good before I let some stranger start messing with my ride. Shop looked clean just like the website and then a gentleman comes around the corner to greet me, the owner's son David. HIs demeanor was warm and welcoming. Got a good vibe from this guy ride at the get go; and no shady vibe at all. Said that it would be around and hour and half before they could test in on the highway which makes perfect sense. David asked me if I needed a ride. Woh, this was like Enterprise, I was pleasantly surprised since this was going to be about 4 hours. If I wouldn't have stayed though they had some type of mechanic tv on and about 25 magazines to pass the time. I also liked how the way it's set up that you can easily see you car from the office or just outside of it, in case your a nervous nelly like myself. Grabbed a cup of their coffee and for office coffee it wasn't bad. (best office coffee at the Hyandai dealer on Van Nuys, white chocolate and stuff, I know cuz the wife bought a car there) So got a ride, and got a call a short time later, that they needed the key for my gas cap, because I was low on gas; luckily I had an extra one in the car. Think they might of put in some gass and not even charged me. Brownie points. Anyhoo, get a call about how my tires were overinflated and needed balancing, needed new air filter, and a couple of brake lights. New that it was about time for the air filter, not sure about the break lights, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt on that one. David picks me up later in the day, (good conversationalist by the way), and my car is ready to go. Printed out the first time customer coupon that saved me $25.00. Gave me no beef about the coupon, not even a sigh. The rest of the staff seemed pretty upbeat so I assume the staff is treated well. To make a short story long, I walked out of there spending less than I thought which is the opposite of my experience at most auto repair facilities. The website underpromised, and they overdelivered. Don't believe check out their trophies from AAA with 100% customer satisfaction in 2010. Pretty impressive. Maybe they'll get me next time, but I don't think so. For the city voted "most rude" these guys were nothing but class and honesty. WOW. read more

AutoAid & Rescue is a breath of fresh air compared to the corporate big chain auto repair alternatives in the area. For the first year or two of my living in California I was always worried and had anxiety every time my car had even a minor issue, because I dreaded having to take it in. I'm from Kansas City, and I had a good relationship with a great mechanic there, but had not had any luck finding the right place out here. I took my car to PepBoys a couple of times out of necessity, but never had a very good experience with them. Half of the time the repair wouldn't fix it and I'd be back in within a week, and none of their staff were every very friendly or treated me very well. So I hit the review sites looking for a better choice. I called a couple of places that had fairly good reviews, but didn't get very good response - either they were very rude to me on the phone or they said it would take them several days before they could see my car. I called AutoAid & Rescue, and immediately had a good vibe about them. It's also very close to my house, and they told me they would gladly give me a ride home when I dropped my car off (PepBoys has never done that even though I live even closer to them). I was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of their little shop - even the bathroom is always very clean. All of their employees are friendly, and legitimately care about every one of their customers. They got my car fixed quickly, correctly, and for a reasonable price. My first experience with them was about a year and half ago, and I have taken my car to them every single time since, both for larger fixes and simple oil changes. Jack and David (father/son owner team) both are honest men that put their heart and soul into running a great business - the family has been doing this in the same location since the 70's. Per, one of the main mechanics, is also a friendly man who is wonderful to work with, and does the job right. It's important for all of us to keep supporting this kind of local small business! I highly recommend AutoAid & Rescue to everyone. I cannot promise they will always be "dirt cheap", but they are honest and reasonable (they offer a great customer rewards program and give AAA discount as a AAA certified mechanic), and I have been 100% happy with them every single time I've been there. read more

These guys are fantastic. I took my car here after getting in an accident. Tony handled absolutely everything! He coordinated with my claims adjuster, called me at every step to update me, and sent me pictures throughout the process. The finished product was absolutely great! The car is in great shape.
