I took my 1975 Chevy truck to Carlos at Autoland for a complete AC system installation and they did a great job. They also painted the dash, installed a new dash pad, cleaned up the gauges and got my interior dome lamp working. FINALLY! I never thought I would say this, but I just had the best experience at an auto repair shop! I took my car to Autoland of Santa Clara after my car failed its smog test. I know absolutely nothing about cars, but was assured by Carlos and his team that they could help. They initially quoted me $800 to fix the issue, which I reluctantly agreed to pay. However, when I picked up my car, Autoland said they had great news: My car had more issues than I had initially thought, so they went ahead and fixed all of the issues and charged me HALF the original quoted price! They even took my car into another shop to get re-smogged to make sure everything passed! They saved me so much money and time! This auto repair shop, Autoland, is as good as it can get. They are good at what they do and take pride in doing it. The mechanics are so honest in the work they do, that it seems it's too good to be true. Why can't all repair shops be like this? They are a great example of what a great customer service shop is. My Acura was overheating and I was adding coolant to it on a daily basis. Stuck without a car, I turned to my friend who turned me on to a place called Autoland. Autoland said I could bring it in right away and get it checked out. Autoland's motto I thought is kinda of funny " The Best place in town to take a leak" , since I had a leak I figure I was at the right place, since they specialize in any and all car leaks. They also said I could use one of their loaner cars until mine was ready. Cool, no additional charges for a loaner car. After looking at my car they told me I had a leaking water pump, which had caused some damage to my head gaskets from running the car low on water. They gave me a quote and said it would be ready the next day(Saturday). I told them I needed to think about it and would get back to them. I decided I would call around to get some other quotes on the work they said I needed. I called 2 places and both gave me quotes that were $600 to 1,000 MORE than Autoland and that they would need until the end of next week to finish the job. I called Autoland back and said to do it and that I really needed the car back Saturday, since I was leaving town. They assured me the car would be done by 3pm the next day and could keep the loaner car until it was finished. The following day at 2pm I got a call saying my car was done and good to go. Not only was my car was fixed for a great price, but it was fixed fast over a weekend. When I picked up my car they explained the repairs performed and they also gave me a list of other weaknesses of the car for future services. They wanted me to be informed on the overall status of my car and what I should anticipate in the incoming year, so I wouldn't be surprised. They didn't force any additional repairs on me and I felt like they were really looking out for me because I told them I was keeping this car for awhile. The customer service was excellent and I could not have been happier with the work that was preformed. I would definitely recommend this shop to anybody. I plan on going back there for all my car repair needs. If It was possible to give them 6 stars I would, but 5 is all I could give them for now! read more

I take back my review of 2011, what a difference a few months make. I asked to have my battery replaced, that's all. Got an extra $89.00 charge for "Customer Request" My request was to replace the battery, period. I tried nicely several times, thru phone calls & emails to get my money back but was told by the owner in quite condescending manner, I might add, that I could have an $89.00 credit on my next visit! RIGHT! "Fool me once, shame on you (Autoland); fool me twice, shame on me." Word to the wise, if you dispute a charge on your credit card, be sure and make the claim 90 days or before to get the charge reversed. I waited too long but even so the representative called Autoland personally to make a plea & was turned down cold by the manager! I went to this place from an ad in the penny saver 3/9/2012. Boy, was that a bad deal... I went in to have my timing belt changed which was suppose to be $179.plus for my acura it ended up being $429 and some change whereas I took my car in at around 8:00 after 2 hours they called and said i had needed cv axle cva, $236.96 valve cover gasket, vcg, $50.00 to replace drive belts 3 of them at $79.98 and one of my tail lights was out $10.00. I ended up paying $1,125.68. and my car was still leaking from everywhere. They recommended an engine steaming which I feel to ensure their work was done properly they should have done for free with what I paid. I did go to Pro Star and paid $52,00 to have them check their work and did say they did the work but could find no reason for a bulb costing $10.00 and the gasket charge ($50.00 Labor) since the engine was already down. Since then I took my car to Hanks on Mathilda Ave and had to pay to rework some of the work that had been half done at Autoland and Olga's Auto repair shops. I have spent in addition for belts hoses and gaskets that they were too busy trying to charge money instead of doing a job well done. I spent $540.12 for parts. Labor cost me $541.00 plus tax $1,125.68 I will never take my car there again or recommend. I did remember and my son and I did talk. My son had taken his car there yrs. ago and had an similar experience. Maybe because I'm a woman and _ _ _ _ _? It was after 6:00 when i gotten my car so they kept it all day! Thank you for the update Carlos P, but what you describe is not what happened. After the first diagnostic of the problem I negotiated with the manager to replace all the coolant hoses in my car because they were old. I did not negotiate for 2, 3 or 4. The manager suggested to replace ALL. When I went back ( a couple of day later) because of another leak, again I was yelled before I had the remain hoses replaced. They also topped my radiator with regular water and when I complained, they told me that for the price negotiated was more then enough. After few days I had more leaking hoses and I had to go to a Mountain view car repair shop to get them fix once for all. The point is that after a couple of times I had the car serviced at your place I was still in the middle of the street with a coolant leak due to bad hoses. I cannot afford this. I need reliable fixes and I never had such a bad experience. read more

Hello there, I had my car fixed for the first time last year to get new belts and water pump. In the middle of the day they called and said they found out some oil leak while working on the belts. They asked for an extra $200 something to fix that. I let them do it. Total was $500 something. The invoice said they recommended a new axel in the front as the grease is leaking out and said its gonna make noise in the future when I make turns. They also said that it was not urgent and could be done in a year or so. Second visit this year, I went there to get new brake pads in the front and had the axel replaced by the way as it started making noise. Total was $350 something. Then I had oil changed at a gas station last week and the guy showed me oil was leaking again. So I called them for the oil leak issue. Plus the noise is still there after they put the new axel on. Now for the third visit this week, they said the oil leak is something different from what they did the first time and asked for $159 to fix this new oil leak. Ok, I let them do it again and they said there was no noise from the axel at all. After I got my car back I still heard noise from the front when I made turns. Also, I opened the hood and found a new crack on my air intake hose. I called the next day and stated there was a crack on the hose. I was gonna see if they can fix it or replace the hose. The manager said the crack was there before I took the car to their shop. Right, there was really a crack before I took my car there but that crack was wrapped by duct tape by someone else at some other shop long time ago. What I see now is a new crack at a different spot on the hose and I just found out after I got my car back. He did say he could wrap it up if I come by. I was gonna say "Okay..." but all the sudden, the manager shut me up and started yelling at me really loud on the phone, "You blame on me for the crack??? You are trying to get it done for free??? You think I am stupid?? Your car is too old. I refuse to work on your car any more!!! Blah blah.." Then hung up the phone. WOW! I was not expecting that. I was simply describing the crack issue on my car and waiting to see if they could help. And of course I would pay as I always do. That was only like 2 minutes. Then the manager was yelling at me for like 10 minutes then hung up on me without letting me say one single word. It was like a crazy dog barking in the backyard out loud in the middle of the night. Now it is not over yet. After he hung up on me, I thought about it a minute. Well, yelling is not gonna solve the problems and I did not want them to misunderstand my purpose of making that call. So I decided to call back right away. This time it was a mechanic who answered the phone saying that the manager was gone to get some food. I said, " Okay, then I will just tell you what the problem was, blah blah.." Again, all the sudden, the manager took over the phone and yelled at me nonstop. It was even more ridiculous the second time. I said, " Can you just listen for a minute". He said, " You got 1 minute, I don't have time for this". Really??!! one minute later, he started yelling at me like a noisy blender, very rude, ugly and obnoxious. I finally hung up this time as I could not deal with a rude person like that. Statements: 1. I did NOT say it was your guy who made the second crack. I was simply hoping to get it fixed. 2. I was NOT trying to get it done for free. I have always paid whatever charge I was responsible for in the last 3 times. PS, when they offered free ride to drop me off at work and pick me up after they got the car done, I always gave the driver $10 tip for each single ride. This was for the first 2 visits. It was a senior guy who said that he is the father of the owner and he is there to help their business without getting paid. I offered the tips as a courtesy. 3. I NEVER thought the manager was stupid. He was the one who called himself stupid. 4. My car is old. That was why I brought it to their shop to get it fixed. And that was why they made $1000 out of me. People have old cars. That is why they bring their cars to all these shops and the shops keep their business. Brand new cars don't need to go to the shops frequently. Now they say they refuse to work on my car any more. I wish they had said that before they did the work and made me pay the $1000. Of course I am not gonna go there again as I have already decided not to do so by the time the manager started yelling at me. 5. They don't have time to talk to me or listen to me any more either. Again, I wish they had told me that when I called in for service the last 3 times and I would have gone somewhere else. I can not believe a manager would say that to a customer when he/she is trying to describe an issue. All you can do is to simply respond to the issue and find a solution. I've been a loyal customer since I was 18. For the past 10+ years I would happily recommend the Santa Clara location to anyone I spoke to about repairs. Until now. Jan/Feb2017, I paid $2500 to get my transmission rebuilt. Since then my opinion of this shop has drastically declined. I am a single mother, loyal customer since I was 18, and I paid to have a big job done. Plus it was $600 for a rental car while the tranny was rebuilt. But transmission still has major issues. It didn't run smoothly for even 1 day after I picked it up. I brought it back couple days later, they kept it a day or two, I picked it up, still running shitty. And now I have to drop it off for another few days so the shop can do more tranny repairs!!!!!?? On a brand new 2500$ rebuild, I Have to bring it in AGAIN, and they won't provide me with transportation while I endure this MAJOR inconvenience. I don't have another vehicle to drive while they have my car. Nor do I have the money to rent another car. I have rent and bills to pay! If this shop was of good moral character, then I would be provided with some transportation while I take my car back for the third time. This is highly disappointing. I will no longer be a customer to Autoland Santa Clara if I am not provided with a rental car or loaner vehicle. read more

I needed to have a timing belt and water pump installed, bought the kit myself thinking I would install it, didn't happen, don't have place and some specialized tools. Called around, and Greg have me a quote, based on a PennySaver coupon. I was told that it could be done today if I brought it in by 12. Greg printed out the invoice and told me he would call when it was done. At 2pm I received a call that some belt were badly worn., and that it would only be for parts, no charge for labor as they were already wiring on that area. A little while layer I received another call from Greg, who told me that the belt that came with the kit didn't fit correctly, but that he would use one of his and send the other back for me. Wow,my warning light came on thinking I might be scammed, but not when he was covering the return. I was told that it should be done soon. Showed up before close and settled up for Exactly what the quote was. I was told by the manager Greg that he had to leave but the mechanic would bring it around when done. After 30 min wait, Carlos, the mechanic came out and asked to show me something, there was some movement on the tops of two spark plug caps. He tolde that two cylinders were losing compression. He said that it would run a little smoother, and a few minutes I drove away, happy, in a smoother ride. read more

These guys are awesome. I had to put an entire new engine in my 1984 Mercedes 380 SL after the timing chain broke and destroyed the engine. They helped me find a good used engine with 85,000 miles on it, got it in, got everything else fixed up, and got me up and running. And talk about responsive! Carlos or Greg were the two guys I needed to talk to, and it seemed every time I called (this was a long-ish project) one of them answered the phone himself, and took the time to explan things to me. I really liked these guys, they did some repairs to my car and I was satisfied. Later took it in for 4WD problem and was told, after transmision service, a couple parts needed to be replaced and given an estimate of $1,200! Later, another shop (transmission shop) diagnosed problem and for $200 repaired the vacuum leaks and 4WD works perfect. Also Autoland had put the wrong fluid in the transfer case when they serviced the transmision. Never again for me! read more

My 1985 boats gas tank picked up a bad load of fuel from a marina and I had to get it cleaned out. I took it to Autoland. When I first got it back from Autoland the outside of the tank had not been cleaned at all. When I looked inside the tank through the only access hole I had in the tank (the fuel level sensor hole) I could see that there was what appeared to be quite a bit of solvent inside the tank. I didn't want to run this unknown fluid through my newly O/H'd carb. So I took it back to them and they cleaned it again. Today when I was going to put the tank back into my boat luckily I used a flashlight to look inside the 2 inch fuel level hole to see what I could see. I saw that the fuel pickup tube was way up the side of the tank. This would cause my fuel tank to never empty to the bottom of the tank. I removed the fuel pickup tube assy. and found that the plastic portion that protruded into the tank also had an extension of a rubber tube on it but the plastic upper part had been bent over so that it could never have had any fuel flow up to the fuel pump again. No doubt this damage had been done in the cleaning (?) process. Lucky me I found it. I didn't take the tank back to them for a 3rd time as I know they wouldn't be able to fix it right . Think twice about taking anything to these people. They are nice people but I feel I have been screwed by their services.
