Automotive Essentials is also LED Cycles. I first met Doug Perez, the owner of LED Cycles/ Automotive Essentials at Hagerstown Bike Week several years ago. I wanted my burnt orange Harley Davidson Road King Classic to have an iridescent orange glow when I rode at night. It's safer and just awesomely cool. There were several vendors there who did this type of work. But after looking at LED Cycles' set up, and the quality work they were doing, I decided to sign up with them. I liked the way they ran their lines. I liked the way they hid what you should not see and highlighted what you should see. And I especially liked the professional on/off switch that purposely did not tie in to the bike's factory electronics. This avoids any potential issues if it should fail. They were busy, but got my bike done in reasonable time. Doug let me know he stands behind his work. And I rode off a happy customer. A couple of years later I had one strip that was starting to come off a bit. I called him up and he said he was going to be at Gettysburg Bike week. I showed up there, and even though he was swamped with business, he warmly welcomed me and replaced it promptly. Off I rode again. A happy customer. Now, one year later, it turns out my mechanic must have damaged the lights when removing my gas tank. I called Doug up and he said he has a shop set up at his house and does installs there. He asked if I could come by on Sunday at 9am and he will provide breakfast. When I showed up on Sunday, his house was easy to find. It was the one with all the impressive trailers, trucks and beautiful line up of Harleys waiting to get their lights done. His set up is quite impressive. It is a cross between man cave, Harley work shop, and thanks to his wife, bed & breakfast; or should I say, bikes & breakfast. I only wish I took some pics. As soon as my helmet came off, his wife was asking if I would like some coffee. There was a table set up with table cloth and place settings where breakfast was about to be served. It quickly became clear this was going to be more than a muffin. First came higher end pastries. Then his wife who loves to cook made delicious western style omelets for everyone, all the while making sure our coffee was topped off. And it was the good coffee too. I could not believe I was getting served a four course breakfast complete with fresh fruit cup, some kind of yummy sausage ring loaf, and a perfect omelet that was exceptional. I felt like I was at Harley Davidson, Ritz Carlton! I was so full I had to turn down the last course of her home made Orange Julius smoothie for "desert". What a perfect morning. A nice hour long, morning ride over. Good conversation with fellow bikers as we enjoyed a gourmet breakfast as our bikes were getting worked on by Doug and his associate. Doug replaced the necessary parts to get the lights working again. And I could not believe he would not charge me. Unbelievable! I felt a little guilty after enjoying such hospitality. And so once again, off I rode, a happy customer. But this time, a happy customer with a full belly and a sincere appreciation for this one in a million customer service. So, take my advice, if you want those cool night time iridescent lights or other popular biker accessories, give Doug a call. And if your smart, you'll show up at the man cave location for his wife's famous breakfast. read more

I got hooked up with Automotive Essentials by USAA, my car insurance company, after my first car stereo had been stolen. Jason put in the new stereo and everything worked perfectly. A few months later my SiriusXM, part of the new stereo console, just up and completely stopped working. Ahh! I contacted Jason asking if he could take a look and see what the problem might be, he was the one who installed it so I trusted he would be able to find the problem. I drove it to his garage, he played around with it for awhile and the XM connection was back up again after about an hour. He graciously offered to drive me back home so I didn't need to take a taxi while he worked on it, which was very thoughtful. He charged me $30 to fix the connection which I didn't mind. But as soon as I got home, parked the car and turned it back on again the XM connection completely died again. WTF!? Very weird. So I texted him again, asking if he would take another look at it again. In addition, I called XM to make sure everything was cool with the connection on their end, which it was. XM also sent me a small car radio gratis in case the one inside my stereo stopped working again. I texted Jason saying, hey, I have this new little XM radio, would you be able to connect it for me without charge? This is not a complicated install but I didn't feel confident that I could do it myself due to having to connect the antenna piece and that's why I asked for his help. I paid him for the first time he tinkered with the faulty connection but ultimately the connection was never restored. I didn't get any response, even after texting on a few different occasions. Jason didn't seem interested in helping me anymore after I asked him if he would connect this second radio free of charge since he wasn't able to solve the problem after I paid him the first time. I feel like he dropped the ball, wasn't willing to help, and that he should have offered to fix my XM connection until he got it right. Now I have to take the car to a different place, pay again and hope that the issue gets resolved. The experience was disappointing. read more

I bought a new Toyota and requested a sunroof and heated seats to be installed. Toyota hired Auto Essentials to do it. They did an amazing job. Chris helped me when I left something in the car and had to retrieve while they still had it. His customer service goes above and beyond. Darcars Nissan sent my Altima over to them to have a touchscreen nav system put in. When the car was returned to me, buttons were reversed (like next track and previous track), bluetooth buttons on the steering wheel no longer functioned, and months later Nissan Service told me that Automotive Essentials had cut some tube while installing the head unit, which was the cause of water coming into my car. read more
