Intake Process and Customer Handling Need Serious Attention I scheduled a service appointment at AutoNation Chevrolet in Gilbert a week in advance, expecting a standard, professional intake process. Instead, when I arrived, my vehicle was never checked in, no service agreement was provided, and I was handed only a business card when I turned over my keys. It became clear later that my car had never been properly onboarded at all--my keys were not secured in lockup but were loosely accessible in the shop area. That alone was enough to raise concerns. After I reached out for clarification, another agent escalated the issue to a director, whose initial response was to suggest the oversight was somehow on my end. Only when I pushed back did he acknowledge the lapse. By that point, the interaction had shifted enough that I no longer felt comfortable leaving my vehicle there. I returned and took possession of my car. A formal agreement was offered only after I walked back in--something that should have been provided at the very beginning, not after the fact. i was honestly very hesitant to write a review because my purchase was 2 years ago as of 12/20/25. BUT after reading some of these reviews that have had similar experiences and talking to a family member- it's a must if it saves someone from having to go thru the trouble and ensuring they feel safe after making a purchase I knew what I wanted when I got there; unfortunately- they didn't know where the truck was and I waited for them to located it after a couple of hours. This should have been my first sign! First and foremost: the salesman and finance were super nice! but the rest basically a nightmare. I had the truck for three days and found an AirTag in it, obviously previous owner. THAT IS NOT OK! Then realized the tailgate didn't open that first week. I had to take it in to get fixed- they used my extended warranty to fix it and they paid the fee. I also mentioned my brakes squeaked and they said it was fine. At the three month mark I went into for an oil change at a service closer to my house that takes care of my Yukon and was told all fluids needed changed. That didn't make sense, since I just bought it. I took it back to AutoNation, after an argument with the Sales Manager- service looked at it and said the previous owner took care of everything prior: but before this, that same day the salesman told me it came from the Mesa dealer and they only thing they did was put tires on it. At my next oil change I had to replace all fluids, I had it 6 months. This past year it has been to the dealership once a month to have something repaired; that I'm positive was an issue I even bought it. Broken motor mounts, rear window leaking, fuel injection issue, I feel like it could go on. This past week, I took it in because I heard a noise from the engine area. Turns out I needed brakes to the point everything was damaged and sensors were broken. The Brake Pad Sensor has been on disabled since i purchased it- it's not a feature I've ever had, so I didn't think anything of it. Let's circle back to i mentioned the brakes squeaked at that visit with their service; they said they were fine. They actually continued to squeak if it was cold out up until they were replaced this week. When the brake pad sensor ass finally enable it showed the brake pads were at 14% and 16%- It makes me realize this was likely an issue when i mentioned it to them and not addressed. I get it was used, but I also worked at a dealership and know the taken process that should take place with a used car. I would say beware before buying a used car from this dealer. yes I know I've had it two years now but all that has occurred is not ok. A full proper inspection should take place. read more

After arriving, I was told they are "5-7 days out" before they'll even DIAGNOSE the vehicle. So apparently appointments mean absolutely nothing except reserving a parking spot in their lot. To make it even worse, my vehicle is UNDER WARRANTY, yet they refuse to provide a rental or loaner until after they eventually decide to diagnose it. Absolutely never buying a truck through AutoNation again. Within DAYS of owning the truck, problems started stacking up. First, the cruise control system was malfunctioning--I reported it immediately to my salesman, Trey. The very next day, Apple CarPlay stopped working. Then shortly after, I started hearing a loud popping noise from the front left axle when turning right in reverse... only to find out it wasn't even fully bolted on. That's not a minor issue--that's straight-up dangerous. On top of that, TWO check engine lights came on. The dealership claims they couldn't find anything in the system, yet I was able to pull the codes myself with a basic scanner. So either they didn't look, or they didn't care. Then the service experience somehow got worse. I dropped the truck off and didn't receive a single update for THREE days. I left multiple voicemails--no response. I had to physically drive down there just to find out they hadn't even touched the truck yet and were still "figuring out" which department was going to take responsibility. Completely unacceptable. When I finally got answers, I was told the issue with the hands-free system was just a software update... but instead of taking ownership, they tried to charge me $259 for it. After selling me a truck with obvious issues from day one. Because of all this, I was without my WORK TRUCK for six days--which cost me roughly $2,600 in lost income from delayed construction projects. That's real money out of my pocket because of their lack of urgency and accountability. I have never written a review for any business in my life, but this experience has been so bad that people need to be warned. Back in January 2025, my family and I walked into the dealership at 3215 S. Autonation Way (Autonation Chevrolet Gilbert)to purchase a truck. I was very clearly told I was buying a NEW vehicle, not preowned, and that the only reason it had a few thousand miles was because it was being used as a "lot truck." That statement turned out to be completely misleading. By October 2025, the truck started falling apart. The check engine light came on, and the infotainment system stopped working -- on what I was told was a brand-new vehicle. I took it in, and instead of actually fixing anything, they brushed it off as a "battery issue," even though the battery tested fine. They cleared the light and sent me on my way. That was just the start of the nightmare. Since then, the check engine light has come on FIVE more times. First, the same "battery" excuse. Then the oil pan started leaking oil everywhere. After that, multiple visits blaming an EVAP emission leak. Each visit meant more time without my vehicle, more inconvenience, and zero real solutions. Getting a courtesy or rental vehicle during these repairs was a fight every single time. Something that should be standard customer service felt like pulling teeth. In total, this truck has been in the shop for around 30 days -- completely unacceptable for a 2025 vehicle. I escalated this to GM management and they did NOTHING. Their response was honestly insulting: a $1,500 credit and maybe a free oil change. That doesn't even come close to addressing the time, stress, and frustration this dealership has caused. And here's the worst part -- after pulling the service records, I discovered the vehicle was previously owned. So not only did they sell me a defective truck, they lied about its history. At this point, my truck is STILL in the shop, and now I'm being told they "might" have fixed it. "Might" is not an acceptable answer after everything that's happened. Other than that, they stated there was nothing else they could do and showed no concern for the repeated issues I've experienced. Instead of helping, Finance Director Robert Light ignored my emails, avoided me in person, and even told another customer I was "here for a refund" while avoiding to meet with me. We went today to test drive an Equinox. We were honest in that we were test driving all of the comparable cars at competing dealerships. When the salesperson heard this, he denied to allow us to test drive the cars as he "wanted to sell a vehicle today." And "I would never deny someone a test drive." As you know you have 5 days to return the car, so in that first 5 days I was told both issues should be no problem to replace and that they would cover it. Broken visor mirror and switch to roll up and down window. After waiting patiently a couple weeks , now I'm being told " we can't get parts from Tesla and will not replace the parts or compensate for it to be replaced. This dealership is amazing. The dealership was clean, spacious and well-organized. The sales, finance and maintenance people were very professional, knowledgeable, and helpful. They had a huge inventory and lots of models for sale. They kept the appointment I set and the vehicle I wanted was available. The sales professional, Emilio was able to show me everything about the vehicle and allowed me to test-drive, look at the engine, crawl underneath the vehicle to look at the skid plates, suspension, etc. He knew what I wanted and didn't try to sell me anything else. It took me a week to purchase from first visit and he quickly responded to all texts and set an appointment with me when I was ready to buy. I was offered fair value for my trade-in and an honest fair price for my new vehicle without any pressure whatsoever. Robert, the finance professional was able to use his considerable experience and skill along with AutoNation brand leverage to get me great financing with GM Financial. Finally received a call about a week and a half ago and set an appointment to fix the ac @ half the deductible payment.I show up to the dealership for the appointment and they have no record of an appointment or anything else. They still didn't fix the ac, it still runs hot. As an added bonus their "fix" tanked my gas mileage and they charged me my full deductible for an issue that was present when the vehicle was purchased. If I could leave negative stars, I would. I purchased my vehicle in late April. It took Autonation Gilbert 2.5 days to "get it ready & fix any issues", as they had just received the vehicle. The vehicle was paid in full, upfront. They talked me into the vehicle maintenance plan. They supposedly fixed any issues with the vehicle, yet the a/c runs hot 50% of the time in Arizona! They claimed they replaced the cabin filter, yet it smells like stinky feet quite often. I responded to an email on (5/2/25) from the salesman, Tristan, about my satisfaction with the vehicle and I mentioned the ac issue and my disatisfaction with the issue, only to get no response. To be clear, I would NOT have purchased any vehicle with air conditioning issues. 17 days later I recieved another email from Tristan asking I forward his information to anyone I know that may be purchasing a vehicle (will never happen). It's also important to note, Autonation sold me a vehicle with 2 keyfobs (missing the buttons) that are useles for anything other than starting the vehicle. This is the second vehicle I've purchased from Autonation Gilbert in 10 years. I won't purchase a vehicle here again. Never again. read more

I was told that I would be reimbursed multiple times if I used Uber to travel from the service center and back to pickup my car since their shuttle wasn't working that day. I did all that was requested of me and submitted the receipts the same day to Jennifer G. She said she would forward them for reimbursement. Over the next month I tried to follow up three times via text and email and the last couple of times I didn't hear back. I should've listened to my own review. My experience had historically been quite bad here and then I had one service rep step up. Today I had just the most ridiculous experience and will never be back here and I recommend nobody go to the dealership to buy a car or to get a car serviced. They do not care about customers. I needed service on my Chevy volt. I called made an appointment and told them that I needed to make sure that an EV technician was available on the day. I dropped it off, coordinating with my wife to drop the car off at the day of the appointment and get a ride home. I show up and find out that the appointment was to be told That the process to get the car serviced is to leave it with them for weeks to maybe more than a month before it can be looked at. I cannot make an appointment or have them call me when the technician is ready to look at it. The only way to get the privilege of having my car serviced here is to physically leave it here for weeks to possibly over a month before it can be diagnosed! Then it continues to stay here for it to be fixed if possible. The process is laughably stupid. The technician very clearly just said the dealership is so busy that they cannot and will not have a process that involves the extra work of calling and coordinating with the customer to bring the car in closer to the time when the tech is ready to look at it. The dealership has shown its true colors that it literally does not care about customers or customer service. If this had been the first time, I might write it off as just a fluke of a busy time. But looking back over the years, this is consistent with what has only gotten worse and worse. This dealership and all that follow a customer service process like it need to just go out of business. Purchase went smoothly and everything seemed fine as we drove our purchased vehicle off the lot. Paid 34k in full via check for our daughter's first car. Purchase date was 11/6/2023. Temp tag expired 12/21/23. As that date passed we reached out to find out what the hold up was as we had not received the plate in the mail. Many unreturned phone calls and emails until we finally received correspondence back stating things were being taken care of. That was on 1/16/24. Here we are on 2/5/24 with no plate, a temp tag that's been expired for 2.5 months, nothing processing and more phone calls and emails unreturned regarding the status of our registration/plates. To say I'm frustrated is an understatement. The lack of urgency and communication is beyond unprofessional and careless. It's been 3 months since the purchase of the vehicle and trying to get anyone to rectify this situation has been a complete headache and something we've NEVER experienced at other dealerships. As I read other reviews on this page, I'm SHOCKED and disappointed that we are not the only ones experiencing issues with registration/plates. I'm not sure who is dropping the ball at Autonation Chevrolet Gilbert, but something needs to be done to ensure this doesn't continue to happen. Recently my truck lost oil pressure while driving home. I was in rush hour traffic so I could not immediately shut off the motor. Once stopped, I called a tow truck and had my truck towed to AutoNation Chevrolet after hours. I left a note that I had no oil pressure and the motor had started to knock. Now you have to understand the business. Customer pay is what these dealerships refer to your work when there is no warranty or extended warranty to deal with. Most advisors make more money (percentage) on customer pay than any other. Yes, I have worked in a similar industry (RVs) but it is the exact same concept. First thing the next day, I received a text message saying my advisor was Robert and that he has my vehicle and he would know something that afternoon and maybe Saturday. He asked me to call so he could get my address. I called, I reiterated my truck's issues and gave him the address. He told me that it looked like Saturday would be more realistic but it could run into Monday. I didn't hear from Robert again until 3:57 Monday saying they couldn't get to it yet. Tuesday, I asked for an update and told him it was my daily driver. I told him that if they were that backed up, I could find a different place because I need it back as soon as possible. Tuesday afternoon at 3:47, Robert told me my truck was with a tech and he would diagnose it. Wednesday at 2:18 I sent a message asking if there was any word yet. The response from Robert was that the heavy line tech had an idea but he hasn't cleared his bay and needs a lift. Thursday, I told Robert I need to have my truck towed out so I could make a trade with a guy for his extra truck. He got right on that and got me an invoice. On the invoice it said the tech diagnosed my truck and found there was no oil pressure and the engine is knocking. (Didn't I say that??). The invoice also said they had said I need another motor but I had declined. That was an outright lie! The invoice also had shop supplies on it. Now, I am very familiar with shop supplies. It covers rags, nuts and bolts and all other consumables the dealership uses while working on your car, but can't be invoice separately. Now, the tech hadn't done anything to my truck except start it up and heard a knock and looked at my gauge to see there was no pressure (like I told them). I asked Robert and he said that was a normal charge. Rip-off. I paid the invoice and Robert's manager took the charge off. This place is worse than Al the others in my opinion. Non-responsive, I'm not actually sure they have qualified techs, and Robert does not understand communication with his customers. Avoid this place! Update: I don't and up trading my truck. I took it to a place recommended by my coworkers and this guy had my truck finished with a new motor in three days. It took him that long because a different Chevrolet dealer didn't deliver the new motor when they were supposed to. read more

They told me that they were going to repaint my truck and I had to pay $1045.00 to get the truck repainted. Told me that it will take 3 days to do the work. Had to show up to the dealer 3 times to find out what they are doing. Three weeks later they say my truck is ready and said truck is ready and said cannot wash it for 7 days and now I hand wash my truck and I see the same spots in my paint that said it is repainted and all my banging is dirting behind them read more

My salesman Cameron and Manager Christopher both gave me the $32,830 price over the phone and guaranteed to hold the car for me I asked them to send me purchase and leasing pricing based on my trade and bait and switch was on. Needless to say I declined to purchase and promised to write this article to warn others. My recommendation is to buy elsewhere! read more

My husband and I went here to look for a possible vehicle to purchase. Our sales rep was Jared. After negotiating a price range and the type of car I wanted there was no options on site. So Jared and the sales manager said there was a vehicle in Phoenix. Jared told us he would go pick up the car so we could see it. We said that was fine and while we waited we would go get something to eat. He said it would be 1 1/2 hours until he got back. We ate and killed time around the area( about 2 hours). We went back to the dealer and went inside to wait for Jared to return. Sat for at least another hour. Tried calling him, no answer. We walked outside and saw Jared standing there. I asked if he had the car, he said no his manager was waiting to see if it was still available because someone else was looking at buying it!!! I asked him why he didn't call me to tell me this. I told him he wasted our time waiting around for almost 4 hours! We got fed up and got in our car to leave. Another manager came to try to make things right. We told him it was too late we would take our business elsewhere. He then got another manager and he tried to sell us another car after wasting our time and treating us wrong. I've purchased a great number of vehicles throughout my life time and these guys far exceed my expectations. Probably one of the best dealer experiences I've had in my life. Sales was awesome and my sales man Benji and his manager Joseph went out of their way to provide us awesome service. Took my vehicle in the next day for Tint and the service department was as equally responsive. We never felt rushed or hostage like other dealers have had us the past. The finance deal worked very well but could of been a little faster. Still got a great deal and an a fantastic new car. Love it. Thanks Update to my original review!!! The finance group is really slow in paying off your trade in if you have one. They took a total of 33 days to close out my transaction. They had more explanations why they hadn't accomplished this yet but my trade in was even up for sale on the lot long before. Leaving a third update here. Our vehicle has now been at the autonation shop for over 4.5 months for some basic warranty issues. We continue to get the run around that parts aren't coming in, people are sick, and one manager even said many of their techs quit. Well I wonder why?? Owning a Chevy and having to deal with this dealership has been an absolute joke. We were initially without a rental and had to spend our own money on Ubers for all.ost 3 weeks; over $480 spent. Once we got a rental, we had to return and get a new rental often and even then, the rental we were provided did not have a third row for our big family. Meanwhile our Subaru that needed an engine replacement under warranty was in and out in under 2 weeks, got an equal sized vehicle. read more

I had two dead batteries and took it to Auto nation Chevrolet in Gilbert. I initially happy with the service. It started going south when they could not find the bolt to hold down one of the batteries. An hour later, they finally found one and put it in. A couple of days later, I took my truck to my mechanic to ask him to test the alternator. Well, it was fine but I wonder why Auto Nation did not do this. The second thing was that my mechanic found that all of the connectors were not tight. The nuts holding the battery cables all were left loose. I would suggest that if you use Auto Nation to very closely check the work. Lastly, I would say that the service manager, Gary, does not even know how to spell service let alone reflect the concept of service. Keep your eyes open!!! read more

If I could do 0 stars I would!! We took our Chevy truck to Autonation for some brake work on April 3rd, on April 20th the technician was test driving the truck when it burned to the ground. I have a police report, I have invoices, I have text messages from the technician about the repairs. Why has nothing been done by Autonation nor their insurance? I call and email the General manager of Autonation and get nothing. I call and email their insurance and get nothing. I can't even get a response and it's been a month.
