Made an appointment and our contact left early, so we had to constantly ask for help. We test drove a vehicle and it was breaking down while we were driving. We asked questions about other vehicles while we were there and could barely get an answer. This is the least professional dealership I have ever been to. We walked in ready to buy and will never come back. Side note is that a customer that came in before us drove three hours to buy and the car was in such worse condition compared to the pictures, so they wasted their time. Gary Conroy is the rudest,worse customer service rep in the history of customer service rep's, that I've ever dealt with ! I was helping my son find a car. I was browsing "letgo". I had messaged alteast 60 people about 60 cars that where listed in my area. I asked 2 questions per car (1) Is the vehicle still available? ( 2 ) What was the condition of the vehicle ? " Some texted back, some didnt. Which I completely expected. BUT what Mr. Gary Coway did is TOTALLY and COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL, RUDE and DISRESPECTFUL to any human being ! It is a direct and complete reflection of the the " Autos Direct Company of Fredericksburg and also Cars.com". So as I'm rolling along picking out cars my son might like. I start getting responses back from sellers. All of them were pleasant,extremely respectful and helpful. UNTIL Mr. Gary Conroy decided to reply. Now I had no idea at the time, that his company had multiple cars on the letgo web-site, 9 of which I had tagged and messaged about. I never even looked to see where the cars were, because I had on the search parameters and I was just picking cars and sending a simple, harmless message with each car. Imagine my SURPRISE when I receive a message on the 3rd car from Mr. Gary Conroy saying (this is a direct copy and paste from his emal) " all of them r..name in number.otherwise stop mess me " I was absolutely floored. So I worked with Diana and Ron both did not communicate with me about the cars I wanted... Diana Beltran and I schedule a time for me to test drive a 2017 jeep compass.....the next day the car was sold...she never made me aware that i could/should put money down to hold the vehicle....Her lack of empathy really hurt my feeling and made me very uncomfortable...So I spoke with another salesman about 2016 Chyrsler and I put down $500 to hold the car and was coming the weekend to test drive....but the next day the car was SOLD and noone once again communicated with me...I had to call and the lack of care i received made me really sad and upset....I asked for my $500 back in either cash or check and they was not able to do so and they kept hanging up on me and Diana was being very mean and rude...Please dont car shop at AUTOS DIRECT IN FREDRICKSBURG...I have never been treated so bad before in my life.... Horrible customer service and communication!! I came in to purchase a vehicle with a pure-approved bank. I wanted to look at two cars I found online. The first car was pulled around and I got inside and it smelled like dog piss I couldn't even test drive it!! So I requested to see the other vehicle, the dealer would not pull it around and told me it would cost me more... WHO THE HELL ASKED YOU TO MONITOR WHAT I COULD AFFORD! So I got upset and left! The next day I was all kinds of ma'am and please come back in. against my better judgement I went back saw the other vehicle I wanted and it was very nice and test drive great, so I signed with my pre-approval and the deal was done! Three days later I was getting alerts from myFICO and other credit monitoring apps that they were pulling my credit still. I text them and asked what they were doing and was lied to and told my bank denied the loan and I needed to come back in and sign with a new bank. so I came in and signed. I even had to give more financial information the the new bank requested. Three weeks later my original bank with the pre-approval calls to set up my automatic payments. This left me confused because I thought they declined BUT THEY DID NOT! The dealers were looking for a better deal for themselves and my credit took an unnecessary hit because of it and the bank they were trying to put me with did not close in their deal so they defaulted back to my bank!!! now I have to clean up their mess in my credit!! The most horrible experience EVER. I talked to sales person Gary Conroy about coming in to see a car. He said the car was THERE (he did not say it could possibly be out on loan). Called the next morning, told the girl that answered the phone which car I was coming to see (Gary was busy) and she too, said the car was there. We drove 1 1/2 hours and 100 miles to see a car that was NOWHERE TO BE FOUND. Gary Conroy then got NASTY with us, telling us that just because it was on their computer it didn't mean it was actually on the lot, it could be out on loan. Well, if someone is driving 100 miles to see a car, shouldn't you make sure it's there? No so, with this lying car dealership. We got there, no car, After Gary's nastiness I asked him to call if the car showed up. Instead Gary choose to text me and not call. I was driving and by the time I saw the text we were 20 miles from home. Long story short, I dodged a bullet. I got with the manager (who was not much better) and asked for the CarFax to be e-mailed to me. This car was a lemon and they knew it. I contacted a salesperson about a 2016 Nissan Maxima S that was posted on Autotrader among other well known car sites for $14,300. The salesman told me the carfax info over the phone and so I drove 50 miles to get to them. When I arrived, I was told the car I was wanting to see had been given to another customer as a "loaner car" and that it should be back the following day. I had them appraise my vehicle and I was told they would give me $3,000 for it. I texted the sales guy the next day and asked if the car was available to see. The response I got was that it will be available. I drove another 50 miles back to them and find out that the Maxima was still not available. In order to make up for the mixup they tried to have me look at a different Maxima, a year newer and $3,000 more in price. I ended up test driving it just to get a feel for how a Maxima controls. I liked the feel but not the color or the price. We ended up working up the numbers for the Maxima I did want and because of the mix-up, he added another $500 to my trade-in, totaling $3,500. I did have them remove the "Re-conditioning Fee" with manager approval as the post I saw didn't mention any additional fees beyond their processing fees, tax, title, and tags. I still wanted to drive the car I originally drove 50 miles for. Third day, I got a call from the salesman and he told me the Maxima I have been wanting to see was on site and he had the keys with him. I drove another 50 miles and ended up checking it out and test driving it. I liked the car I had been wanting to drive for 3 days and started doing the paperwork with the salesperson. After I signed the paperwork with the numbers we had already worked up previously, it was given to their finance guy. I was putting a down payment and financing the rest. AFTER they pull my credit, the finance guy and a different sales guy try to tell me that they couldn't sell the car to me at the current price. Obviously they saw that had excellent credit and was not their average Sub-Prime customer that they could bully. Apparently the listed price is well below what the owner of the business bought it for. They tried to tell me that the price should be $20,000. When i refused, they reduced it to $18,160. Again, I refused, I had shaken hands on the deal and both parties were happy with the terms. I wasn't about to pay $4,000 more for the same vehicle. In order to balance it out they tried to up-sell me on protection plans and when that didn't work, they said they were going to reduce the trade-in value to $2,000. At the end of the day I walked out because they were using Bait & Switch tactics. When that didn't work, they tried to manipulate all of the terms we had already agreed upon. I can't believe that the Business owner would have been proud of his people using these kinds of tactics. Even if the story they stated was true about the purchase price, they shouldn't have tried to make it an issue for me to deal with. In that scenario, when you have documented records everywhere on the internet by your company stating that a product is a certain price, you honor that price. They lost my business over $1,500 and any posting I see by Autos Direct is immediately being ignored going forward because I can't trust their advertising or their people. I will say that the first salesperson, Alex, I spoke to was genuinely sorry about what had transpired. However, he was fairly new to the company and so he didn't have any real authority. I can't help but laugh as I write this. Please do your research. GET a carfax, read it. Ask questions. My encounter with this company was almost predatory, in my opinion. Buyer beware! Long, funny story... My son was looking for a very specific truck (he had cash). We arrived on the lot and were left unaided by an associate but looked around and found a Dodge Ram Diesel 5.9L Cummins like he was looking for way over in a back lot. We attempted to talk with someone and were told it was sold. It gets sketchy here... A few days later I was looking for trucks for him and for myself because hey, why not, right? I stopped in and talked to a salesperson who shall remain nameless. I was told there was a truck there that they had put $25k into but it wouldn't start, run or drive (no state inspection). They said make an offer we NEED to get rid of it. It was taken on "trade" and after 2 weeks it was a $19k hot mess, they were so incredulous, just couldn't believe they had been taken advantage like that. They wanted $19k for this nondrivable truck. They had put an ATS transmission but it was leaking, had taken it to a diesel shop and had all the records of batteries, key reprograming, electrical troubleshooting done, etc. Had no idea why it wouldn't run BUT wouldn't put another dime in it to correct the problems. They'd had it for a year and couldn't sell it. My husband is a mechanic. ;) We were curious at this point because it just didn't make financial sense for a business to be in such a precarious situation. You sorta feel sorry for the poor little used car business, right? So, I got the vin and pulled the Carfax. EVERYTHING I was told was DECEPTIVE. They bought the truck at auction. I physically went to the previous service providers listed and I was able to find out most every detail of the trucks existence. I went back to share my findings and I wish you could have seen the faces of those involved. I made them a reasonable offer based on the condition of the truck. They declined. My suspicion is that they are going to attempt to sell this truck to an unsuspecting person after a quick "fix" as they continue to have it listed at $19k +/-. Buyer beware. read more

Worst Dealership hand down!!!! So after finding a great vehicle I contacted this Dealership to make sure the Truck was still in their inventory. They told me it was so, I made an appointment to come see it, and even took a day off work. Upon arriving I was told the truck was not available but they had others. They showed no remorse for not having the truck or that I took a day off work to see it, or that I had driven an hour to get there. The salesman, I had been working with, was conveniently out sick. This just might be the worst auto dealer with which I have ever dealt and in my 70+ years I have purchased more than 30 automobiles. I should have read the Yelp reviews and the BBB complaints. I was asked to check out a particular car by a noted West Coast automobile collector. The key issue was that the dealer's inventory listed the car as being a rare Cadillac with a six speed manual transmission. The collector's representative had spoken with Denise Eldridge who confirmed that the car had a six-speed manual transmission, just as the inventory description noted. I called Denise twice to arrange for a test drive, but she did not call me back. On the next day I called again, and we connected. I asked again whether or not the car had a manual transmission since I did not want to drive 60 miles to check out a car in which the collector had no interest, and she confirmed that the vehicle had a manual transmission. I said I would arrive at the dealership between 2 and 3 PM. As I exited the Interstate, after an hour's drive and roughly three miles from the dealership, I received a call from home - Denise had called and said "don't come, the car does not have a manual transmission, it's an automatic." Not only was Denise incompetent, when I called to ask Denise why the collector's representative and I had both been given the wrong information, the person who answered the phone said "Denise no longer works here." When I said that she had called my home within the past 15 minutes the fellow put me through to "the other Denise." Take the advice of those who comment on Yelp, don't go near this dealership. It's incompetence is breathtaking and judging from the other Yelp commenters, we were fortunate not to have gone through with a purchase; just imagine how they would screw up a sale that required shipping the vehicle cross country. Oh, and two days later the dealer inventory still lists the vehicle as having a six speed manual transmission. read more

Everything people despise about used car dealerships is found here... All of the sales reps I interacted with lay the BS on so thick it's actually quite insulting. I had one guy swipe my drivers license just before they closed for the day so that I would have to come back the next day and look at a car he knew was already sold. I'm not making that up. When I came back the next day to reclaim my license, I had a different rep say (after learning that I was a Marine) that it was much easier to get young enlisted Marines to buy more car than they can afford. He had become frustrated that I wasn't being moved on the vehicle I wanted and the $$ I was willing to spend. This dealership is not worthy of receiving one star!! They are the most shady, untruthful, unfaithful, and definitely the most unprofessional business I've ever dealt with. All they care about is getting people to sign the purchase contract on their vehicles, and after that, the people, their customers are no longer important. I bought a 2014 Ford Mustang GT 5.0 in January 2020 from Autos Direct. I drove the car home and kept it all night the day before i bought it. There was a loud rattling coming from underneath the vehicle, sounded as if the exhaust was loose. Turned out being the sway arm linkage. I was promised that this problem would be taken care of, along with 2 news tires. Because of the problem being ignored for almost 6 months by Autos Direct, the car now needs 4 new tires. The car is very difficult to drive, and has caused me to almost have 3 accidents already. Ive told Autos Direct that this is very dangerous and detrimental to me and others on the road as well. Ive stayed on top of them about this every week, sometimes 3× a week to have this issue taken care of, with nothing in return from them. Their defense is that they do not have anything on paper stating that there was a warranty on my car. Dean, the general manager at the time, handed me the first contract that was written up. My payments were calculated to be over $500 a month. I explained to Dean that i could not afford a car payment that expensive, so he went and had the contract altered making my payments 391.00 every month. I was under the impression that money was taken off of the base price of the car, but was informed by Dean that my 2 year warranty was taken off of the loan instead. I told him , "Dean, you are not going to do that to me" He told me that he would take care of the rattling noise and the tires. That he would give me a 1 year verbal warranty. I demanded it in writing and was told it was in the folder with my car insurance papers. Well, it was not placed in the folder at all. Ever since then, from January 9th until June 12th, I've cried, I've lashed out in anger, and have tried being nice long enough to get them to fix my car and replace the tires, as promised. On Tuesday June 16th, my husband and I stopped by Autos Direct after waiting to hear back from Sophie, who was supposed to have contacted me on Monday June 15th and never called. Sophie has to be one of the rudest person i have every met ,she wss screaming at me over the phone, would not listen to a word i had to say. What has happened to customer service. She basically called me a liar, an said they would not honor the deal Dean, the crooked General Manager made with me. He apparently got fired less than 2 week's after i purchased the car. She offered to write me a $300 check until I said i think i need to talk to the bbb. Then they wanted me to sign a not talking order. These guys are ridiculous they get there employees to give them better reviews. The cost of the repair are just under $1500.00. Considering Autos Direct cleared about a &25,000- $30,000 profit from us, I don't think $1500.00 was asking a lot. At one point during the chaos of battling with these people, they had given me an option of turning my car in, and picking out a car that costed $20,000 or less on the lot. That alta-matam was offered by the new general manager, Gary Edwards about a month ago. I paid $14,500 for my car, and they were willing to give me a car that costs $5,500.00 more than my car, but refused forking out $1500 to fix mine. It just doesn't make any sense to me. None of this ordeal made any sense really. How do they expect to have repetitive customers by treating them this way? It's very upsetting and disappointing to have to go through this, knowing that they were perfectly aware of the cars problem before it was even bought. Why would they offer $300 to anyone, if they thought without a reasonable doubt that a vehicle's issue isn't their responsibility? We were told not to come back on the premises, and if we did, they were calling the police. As this conversation went on we were surrounded by three or four managers and owners.They were saying things to humiliate and antagonize us until we were on lafayette blvd. All in all Ms. Sophie did the exact thing her old general manger did offer 300.00 to fix the car an then pull the offer of the table. That was not very professional on her part whatsoever. They told her they would hold it for her. When she arrived they were in the middle of making a deal with someone else. They told her to go ahead and test drive it( even though someone else was already making a deal but were trying to get the financing). In December of 2018 my son and I were in search f a vehicle. I contacted Autos Direct and first spoke with Gary. He was always unavailable when I called, so they finally passed me off to Chris Flemming. After days of going back and forth with them about losing our online application, we decided to pay them a visit in person. We filled out another application, this time in person. We asked what vehicles had available within the price range we were looking for. We already knew what price range we wanted to stay in and what we wanted for monthly payments. Every vehicle they told me they had within our price range, magically wouldn't work or had something wrong with it! After almost a week of calling Chris and no return calls I was finally able to speak with Chris to see what was going on! "He (Chris) apologized for being busy and not returning my calls". "Chris then proceeded to say they had a car for us that had just come in". "He stated he would come pick me up to check it out". He picked me up in a white 2015 Toyota Camry. Please keep in mind this wasn't a vehicle that I had selected! He (Chris) "said the car was ready to purchase". Now lets keep in mind he (Chris) never mentioned what kind of car it was, what color it was, the mileage or anything else during the phone call. When we arrived at the dealership we went over everything with the vehicle. Chris mentioned the vehicle had been in a minor accident but the airbags didn't deploy. We were never offered or given a Carfax Report. All we received was a vehicle Auto Check. I figured everything was okay with the car, because there was no serious damage to the vehicle. Boy Was I Wrong! Within two weeks of having the car the right front tire blew out. In February I had to get a full service oil change and brakes. This was all within two months of having the vehicle. The car has this clicking noise when turning the wheel, while backing in or when you turn the wheel to the right. Now lets fast forward to July 2019. I took the vehicle to a very well know dealership within the Fredericksburg, VA area as we were interested in trading the car. The dealer ran a Carfax on the vehicle and found that the 2015 Toyota Camry Autos Direct sold to my son and I had been involved in two auto accidents. The last accident had just happened two months prior to our purchase and caused sever structural damage to the vehicle. Avoid, Avoid, Avoid. After completing an Autotrader search for vehicles without a prior accident, a vehicle from Autodirect was listed. I then proceeded to purchase the car remotely. Prior to finalizing the transaction, I requested the carfax several times and never received the document. Their contract states that they provided the carfax report. Once the vehicle was delivered I then again requested the carfax and an assistant provided it to me. To my HORROR the vehicle had two prior accidents, one with structural damage. I immediately sent an e-mail to Gary Edwards the manager and stated that he would look into the issue. After several no-return of phone calls, he eventually advised that there would be a $3K restocking fee. Very Deceptive, Very Deceitful, and Very Underhanded. I found a truck that I wanted to purchase from these guys so I went in for a test drive. I was given the truck with an empty tank, so I had to turn around for it to be filled up. Upon driving the truck I noticed there were some minor issues such as the oil needed to be changed as it clearly stated on the electronic screen, the drivers side electric locks did not work, there was only one out of four tire sensors, back seat wouldn't fold up as it should and it was also missing a spare tire. As I said, all of these were minor things, so we had agreed with the salesman that if they fix everything I would still like to purchase the truck. He stated that it would be in the shop that day and they will let me know when it's ready. Two days later I contact the salesman and he states he was out sick the last two days and will get an update for me in the morning. He gets back to me stating that the truck had been sold. Auto Direct is one terrible dealership. I've been reaching out to them for months I bought a car from them and put down 3500 dollars like they asked me too a week later I had to get the car towed back from Maryland back to them because something was majorly wrong the finance company re assign the vehicle back to them they have not returned my down payment, I actually seen them sale the car to someone else during the times I've politely made visits to attempt to get put in another car or my money back and no one can help me. Do not buy from this dealership I've been so fair I tried to allow them to fixed this issue before I made a nasty review but they still put me on hold feed me lies and bullshit and I still do not have a car to this day because autos direct took my savings from me and never gave me anything in return. I will hire an attorney and I will file a lawsuit these events happened to me May of 2018 and it's now January 2019 I feel like I've been fair enough. read more

Tried to purchase a car, left a deposit and never heard back from sales person. Just found out car was sold to someone else...,bad business

BEWARE - WATCH YOUR POCKETS!!!! This is an extremely corrupt, dishonest and deceptive dealership! I purchased a car from them and they overcharged me by roughly $1,000 from the agreed upon price (which was the price on the advertisement for the vehicle). Where I went wrong was not reading the paperwork (especially the Buyers Order document) before I signed because I was in such a rush. They took an extremely long time putting the paperwork together, so by the time I got the paperwork to sign, the salesman and I rushed through it. I figured out I was overcharged after getting my loan paperwork in the mail. I immediately reached out to them after I realized what happened only to continuously get the run around. They refused to reimburse me for the difference and said that since I signed the paperwork, I "agreed to the terms" and that "the deal is over". Any reputable ethical business with any sense of integrity and care for good customer service would have saw there was a mistake (which was evident as I had the ad with the agreed upon price on it) and would have addressed the issue. Unfortunately, with the way they handled the situation, one could only conclude that all of this was NOT a mistake; the overcharge was intentional and this is more than likely a common practice! Clearly these guys are in the business of deception and taking advantage of people! There's a very good chance there are others who have purchased cars from them that to this day probably don't even realize they were overcharged! They try to get you to agree to a monthly payment structure and pull the wool over your eyes in terms of what the bottom line price they are charging you is! I strongly suggest not even purchasing from these guys because they don't deserve your business, but if you decide to be a risk taker... READ YOUR PAPERWORK and don't allow the sales person to rush you through signing the documents (especially the Buyers Order)!! Instead of walking away from working with this dealership with a good experience and a desire to refer others to them, I ended up feeling robbed, extremely violated and disenchanted... SMH read more
