After a four and a half hour guided walking tour of Chinatown and a Pink Floyd laser light show at the Planetarium you would think we'd want to order in. Nope, we went on to Autostrada right out of the Uber and damn happy we did. Our server Chris, who spent time at Le Crocodile was absolutely outstanding. In fact the entire experience was top notch. The space was smaller than I'd thought it would be, and decorated, as is everything right now with Christmas. It's not the fanciest place, but it's accepting and inviting in an understated way. The food itself was top quality. It came out fast, was delicious, and is for sure on our list to try again. We talked to the table beside us and they ordered the $80 per person price fixe menu and we will for sure do that next time. Our Anchovy toast was outstanding in my mind, the lovely K didn't hate it, which is a positive given her aversion to fish. The Caesar salad was great, but needed more than 5 croutons for sure. The young romaine lettuce was a nice touch, no big ribs to deal with. Our pasta dishes were very good, my Ravioli was rich, but just enough for a portion and the pasta was outstanding. K's Rodolo was equally as good, and we took one home to try and replicate the dish. K's Birthday is a day away so a limoncello apéritif was a nice touch after dinner. It's a bit of a walk but Autostrada should be on your menu, it's worth a stop. read more

My husband and I came here for dinner about 2 weeks ago on a Friday night. While we heard that it would usually be packed on a Friday night at the restaurant, we somehow picked a perfect Friday night as it wasn't too busy, probably due to a combination of Halloween, World Series Game 7 and a downpour. Nevertheless, we were welcomed by the warm and cozy ambience when we walked in from the rain. Torn by many tempting choices on the a la carte menu, we decided to go for the Dine Alla Famiglia option and let the chef put together our dinners for us. Our waiter was very helpful by asking us what peaked our interest from the menu so they can design the courses accordingly. Neither of us took any photos when the dishes because we were so impressed with the dishes as they came and we dove in right away. Sometimes, you don't need pictures to remember good foods. I going by memory here. We had: - A dual starter of albacore tuna and veal loin - white anchovy toasts - burrata & prosciutto with focaccia - candy shaped pasta stuffed with squash - linguini with dungeness grab - sucking pig - and salted caramel tart for dessert We were getting full even before the pasta courses but we had no problem savouring every dish that came to the table. The tuna and veal loin pieces were very fresh. Our first foray into toasts with anchovies has lured us to comeback for more. We almost asked for more focaccia to go with the burrata and prosciutto but we were getting full! Stuffed pasta usually would not be my first choice on a menu but the mashed squash carried a complexity of flavours. I could have eaten a whole bowl of the linguini but I'm glad the portion size was controlled because we were not prepared for the size and beauty of the suckling pig dish. Not only it looked so salivating that we could not wait to dive in even though our doctor would have told us to stop eating by then, the leftover served a wonderful dinner at home the following evening and made our store bought pasta at home taste gourmet. The caramel tart was perfect to go with our expressos. We already know what we want to order next time we visit. read more

8-course tasting menu to try out most of the popular dishes. I asked for low sodium low citrus however since most of the dishes were prepared in advance they could not change. White anchovy toast is delicious. Quite a bit of citrus as the first dish. Veal tartare is quite salty especially to pair with chips. I think it might have a more balance flavour to pair with gourmet crackers. The best dish is SQUASH ROTOLO WITH BRAISED SHORT RIB. The pasta is soft. The butternut squash is silky and the braised short rib is tender. The duck confit is normal. Good service. Restaurant is busy so it's a loud conversational environment with kind of loud music. I love my stuffed pasta but the dessert really blew me away. It was light with just the right amount of sweetness. Despite being pretty full from the appetizers and entrees, we still managed to finish the dessert because that's how good it was! Perfect ending to a great meal. read more

Favourites: Stuff Pasta, Seasonal Dolci and the Latte were all very nice, we love our server too (love her green pants). Too soon for me to comment, will have to return as we were to stuffed from HH. General note: all the dishes tasted like it's using real ingredients (not from packages and reheated/msg etc...), their sauces and esp the stuff pasta all tasted handmade and with house made broth. The dessert, the chocolate mousse ganache bottom, the minced dried fruit with it's mince nuts were done so in care (no dusty bit's from a processor, done with a sharp nice so there is such nice clean textures with out mushing the nut oil), the creme on top is not over mixed and oily served in quenelle shaped. Last note: The bathroom lighting needs more wattage, it is very very dim. read more

My friend and I tried this place for the very first time. The ambiance is warm and inviting, the food is fantastic, and the service is great. There is also a tasting menu, but we opted for 1 starter and 2 mains with a Negroni. I am impressed with how everything was just the right amount. We started with the Duck Liver Parfait, which came with a chutney and crostinis. The server saw that we were running low on crostinis with more of the parfait to spare, and as a result, he brought us more to remedy the problem. We had the lingcod and risotto with scallops for our main, and both were perfectly cooked. To make things more spectacular, we saw the spinning chandelier from our seats. I would love to come back, especially during patio season, to try other menu items. I'd recommend this place to anyone who loves Italian fine dining with decent portion sizes! read more

Came here for happy hour on a Wednesday. Lots of tables available for happy hour. We had the duck liver and the anchovy on focaccia. The duck liver was my favorite. It was creamy and was had strong flavours. The crostini had too many holes in it for me to be able to slather on more liver but it was very crispy and went well with it. I would order this again The anchovy on focaccia was refreshingly sour. It balanced the other dish well but I wouldn't order it again as I want to try other things on their menu. As for drinks we had the negroni and the limone spritz. Limone spritz was not my cup of tea. The negroni was nice and strong. Wouldn't get these next time. Tiramisu was good. Not too sweet. Very creamy and had a slight alcohol bitter flavour which balanced it well Overall I would definitely come back for happy hour food to try their other menu items. I had such a great experience here last weekend. The restaurant called about an hour before saying they made a mistake with the booking and had to switch us to bar seating which we didn't mind at all. They proceeded to treat us so well for the inconvenience! The service is so friendly and attentive and the atmosphere was so lovely and cute! Food wise, the stuffed pasta was great. The cacio e Pepe was simple and a little bland for my preference but excited to go back and try some of their other stuff! The espresso brownie with orange blossom was to die for. Solid spot for Italian under the Granville bridge! They recently refreshed their menu and have some cool features too. The pasta remains excellent. I recommend sitting at the bar because it gets quite drafty by the window. read more

Came here for dinner. I walked from a friend's house nearby so not sure about the parking situation there. This place is more like 3.5 stars, but I'm giving them 3 because they definitely are not a 4-star level place. The service was excellent, cannot complain. We had 2 different servers over the course of the evening and both were very helpful, friendly, and attentive. easy 5/5 for that. The problem is the food. Portions are small, but I have no problems with that if the food was top notch. Sadly it was not. We ordered: Burrata, prosciutto - this was fine, as it sounds, nothing mind blowing. 3/5 Duck liver parfait - this was flat out way too salty. Otherwise it would have been excellent. 3/5 Insalata - very average. Veg were fresh, but It lacked a variety of textures. 3/5 stuffed pasta - pasta was nice, filling was way too salty. Otherwise, would have been a solid dish. 3/5 Fusilloni - they used dry pasta. Disappointing, since for the price they charge, I expect freshly made pasta. Sauce was average, overall this dish is 2/5. Aperol Spritz - 4/5, good - but how can you do this one wrong... Tiramisu - this was great. Really enjoyable, 5/5 for the dessert and kudos to the server for recommending it. Restaurant venue was quaint, nicely appointed, reasonable spacious. Not a concern. Overall, they need to improve the quality of their food and correct their overuse of salt in some dishes. read more

Finally had the opportunity to visit this restaurant. Has been on my list for a while and thought the quality of the food was pretty good. The reason why I'm giving this restaurant a 3 is because of the price vs quantity vs quality. The portion sizes are pretty small for the price that you pay. Our meal averaged at about $60pp for 3, including 1 drink per person and this was also inclusive of some happy hour dishes and then two mains and two desserts. I was happy with the quality of the food, but really surprised with the portion of the pasta that was served given the price was sitting around $26+. If we hadn't ordered that many appys I don't think we would've been full, we also had some foccacia bread which I feel was a Filler, which shouldn't be the case. Anyways, if you're wanting to check it out I'd recommend still going as the food was good, but you might be a bit hungry if you don't get enough dishes to feed your soul! read more

The search for amazing pasta stopped here because Autostrada pasta has PERFECTLY delicious pasta. As usual, the daily specials are something that I always love to eat, because I trust that the chefs know what they want to make and what they are willing to try to put out there. And tbh that is exactly what we ordered the other night when I was there. When we arrived at the restaurant, the first thing I smelled that was GUSHING from the restaurant was the butter. I loved it so much, you know you are at the perfect place for pasta when butter was the first thing you smelled. The vibe of the restaurant really give me Yaletown, downtown, and granted it is where it is located especially with SO MANY WINDOWS that literally spreads across the restaurant. On top of that, the typical Vancouver downtown audience visits this establishment on the daily with the Yaletown botox clientele and the gentlemen who wears glasses indoors. Yup, no surprise there at all. But I do love the atmosphere of the corner booth seats with multiple families eating style, so they at least kept that close to their chests. Yay. The server Katie was slaying the house down with her fit that night. Bright green pants with a very cute top and her PINK NAILS are everything. I love a trendy server who can slay the house down! She was very knowledgeable about the menu as well, and answered all my questions, and she has a good vibe and extremely attentive to the table as well. Love that for her. We ordered the daily Ripena for the night, daily stuffed pasta, which was kind of a mezza luna beef ripena, and the sauce was a very condensed chicken broth with tons of butter to it. My god, it was delicious. To top it all off, it was cooked PERFECTLY AL DENTE!!! YES! I AM SO HAPPY. Another place that cooks their pasta al dente, with a VERY good bite to it and I was just happy. The other pasta we ordered was the daily Fusilini with a tomato based sauce with spicy sausages. The tomato sauce was filled right into the nooks and crannys of the fusilini and on top of that the umami flavour was just BURSTING with each bite. It was perfectly cooked and extremely delicious! I was so happy at the end of eating BOTH dishes and extremely satisfied. I will be back soon this summer for more perfectly cooked pasta. And do recommend this place for sure as the go to for pasta from now on! YES!! read more

It's more like a 3.5 star, the food is pretty solid but not thing stands out. It's a good Italian spot if you're in that area and want to see the Vancouver House. The tuna is pretty good as an appetizer. My fave was definitely the linguine - the ingredients are generally quite fresh and well balanced. The risotto was a bit too heavy for my taste. So disappointing.....from the seating (booked two weeks previously), to the appetizer with the chips from a package, to my watered down 'classic Bolognese'! The waitress was fine but she needed to tell me that my choices would not accommodate my dietary restrictions. My husband was also disappointed with his meal. That's it folks. read more

Food - We got 2 rounds of olives ($7) and focaccia ($7). For my main, I got the Chittara Anatra e Accuiga  -- which was with a duck & anchovy ragu ($25). It was really tasty, and filling (or maybe I just filled up on the appies). Others raved about the risotto. Vegan options limited. The tiramisu ($9) was tasty - great flavours - nothing that overwhelmed the other flavour, but definitely could taste the coffee flavour. Served in a cute teacup. Drinks - famous for negronis ($11-12) and I don't normally like them! I had a sip of my friends and thought it was quite special and unique tasting but I opted for wine. Atmosphere - lively and packed. I'm not sure if this added to the chaos of the mix ups in our ordering (a salad ordered by someone vegan, after discussing back and forth what the vegan options were - the caesar came covered in cheese (and I would assume anchovy caesar dressing). Instead of a $32 A1 bottle of wine we got, we got a wine that started with "AL" $80 of wine. . of course we didn't know that we hadn't received the correct bottle until we received the bill. And then when asked if we'd like another bottle of wine (before we saw our bill), we said yes. $160 later (due to the 2 bottles), it was a bit disappointing. It's not that we think they got it wrong, or we got it wrong. I think it was just an unfortunate mishap.. Since we drank it, there was no point in flagging it was the wrong bottle. I guess the morale of the story is be VERY CLEAR about what you are ordering and make sure you speak loudly to avoid any misinterpretations. I left full but some of the incidents just rubbed me the wrong way at the end of it. read more

There's a good variety of appetizers and entrees on their menu to choose from and daily specials to catch your interest! I started with the duck liver parfait which was rich and creamy, and full of flavour. The daily stuffed pasta was veal and a type of cheese I can't remember the name of, but it was quite delicious and a decent portion. Upscale rustic-modern Italian bistro located in the new Vancouver House building in Yaletown. Attentive and personal service. Seasonal and local ingredients are showcased in the meals. I visited here as part of a group of four, and we ordered everything to share: two salads, two starters, and four pastas. Everyone had different favorites among the dishes we were served depending on our individual tastes. The portions were modest, so the value here is more in quality than in volume. Excellent food, fast service, and chill vibes. Couldn't ask for more! Had their stuffed pasta of the day, which was squash, sage, and brown butter. It was perfectly al dente and the flavors were on point. Their mushroom risotto was also excellent. The focaccia was fresh and served with what I can tell was high-quality evvo and balsamic. For dessert, we had the caramel tart with ice cream (5/5 albeit too sweet) and the tiramisu which I didn't care for so much. All in all, would highly recommend! read more

Food was disappointing. Linguine was overcooked and way too salty. Other pasta was undercooked and very bland. Portion sizes too small. Waited over 40 minutes for dishes to come out. Ambiance was not relaxing because it was too loud with music and echos to even have a table conversation without raising your voice. We see it is always busy, so we assume it must be very good. Very disappointing, we were there for happy hour, we ordered appies, shrimp in polenta, meat balls, and bread. The shrimp in polenta was a joke, you got 4 little shrimps placed on top of the polenta and it had brown sauce on top of it. Not very appetizing, my partner order the stuffed pasta and I ordered the Bolognese, when our dinner arrived it was barely warm. My partner had 10 small thumb sized stuffed pasta and it was covered in another brown sauce. He said the filling was tasteless. My bolognese was very dry, and I believe it they used fettucine instead of tagliatelli. I was so disappointed, especially from a restaurant with such high calibre, anyhow my partner was still hungry after his meal. Also they should have someone expedite the plate before it is served, the plating was a joke, an amateur can do a better job. will not be coming to this restaurant again. read more
