I highly recommend the Pasta con Funghi e Burrata al Tartufo. The creamy truffle burrata with mushrooms and chili garlic is absolutely delicious. The tiramisu for dessert is always a great way to end the meal. They also have a "Date Night" combo available for $155, that includes starters, pastas, and desserts, and a bottle of wine to share. There is street parking along the outside. The entrance to the place is a bit tucked in so may be hard to find. There should be a sign outside though! They also do brunch specials so I am curious to try. The interior is very spacious but cozy at the same time. Service was amazing! The predecessor at the location deep in the heart of the West End was one of my favourite restaurants. I've been meaning to try Robba da Matti since I came back last year after an absence of 10 years. An old friend in town gave us an excuse to pay a visit 2 weeks ago. My friend's first words to me as soon as we sat down in the patio were, "this is a very nice place, Joe". There are many restaurants with patio to choose from in the city but this one on Haro and Guildford is my favourite. It's smacked right in the middle of an old residential neighbourhood. The restaurant itself in the half basement level of an apartment building the patio is right next to the building in a pedestrian courtyard. The string lights, pergolas and the bistro tables surrounded by planters closing off the patio from the courtyard all help make up the little enchanting al fresco dining room. Foods were great. I ordered the squid ink spaghetti with clams with an Aperol spritzer. The squid ink gave the pasta a slight ocean flavour and the clams are plentiful and juicy. Service is perfect! there were 2 servers and both were top notch, allowing organic conversations and the utmost personable experience. We started with their arancini with truffle sauce (arborio risotto balls mixed with an assortment of cheeses. served with a truffle aioli sauce). these were exceptional! stuffed full of cheese and the right amount of truffle. an incredible way to start our meal. The rest of our dishes were unfortunately mid. it wasn't bad but it just fell short. We started with gnocchi pomodoro & basilico (home made gnocchi with a parmesan, fresh basil and tomato sauce. topped with our d.o.p. burrata cheese. 26). the gnocchi was perfectly cooked but was just ok. It lacked any identity of flavor. The cold burrata and the basic pomodoro did not add to this dish. Adding parm and pepper did not help and for me, this was basic. Next was the butternut squash ravioli (butternut squash & scamorza cheese ravioli with a butternut, sage & garlic sauce. topped with crushed walnuts. 30). i'm hard pressed to begin to understand this dish. 6 ravioli "stuffed" with cheese laid on a bed of butternut squash "soup". lots of walnuts and fried sage but no real flavour. This dish was a hard pass. We wanted a decent dinner within walking distance of the holiday lights at Stanley Park and just found this spot on Google Maps. It's in a very random spot, amidst blocks of just high rise apartments, nonchalantly in one of their basements. I was a little wary approaching it, but it was very lovely inside and we had a great meal. There is also a window where you can watch the chefs work their magic. THE WAIT None at 5:15pm on the Monday before Christmas. We were told in advance we only had our table until 6:30pm (we hurriedly left at 6:40pm, no issue). It was completely empty when we arrived but was becoming more and more lively by the time we left. THE SERVICE I have to give Alex my full props for dealing with my not-the-best-behaved 2 and 4 year-olds. We were a little out of our league coming here in full winter gear after walking through Stanley Park at night with two little toddlers. We didn't realize what a classy, nice restaurant this would be. But Alex had endless patience, we were never given more than a glance from neither staff nor fellow customers when our toddlers. At the outset this restaurant is not kid-friendly; there were no other children here, no high chairs, no room for our strollers (we were asked to leave them in the covered patio). However, in terms of our treatment, I would consider this a very kid-friendly place. I don't necessarily recommend bringing very young kids here, only because it's a nice spot and I personally felt a little guilty leaving a mess and causing extra noise from my moody hungry kids. THE COST $198 CAD before tips. Reasonable for a quality Italian dinner for 3 adults & 2 toddlers. What a quaint romantic cozy spot in the west end! I'm a fan of the Yaletown location and love the food. The ambience is fantastic, not too loud but comfortable. Decor is stunning. A great place for a date or a small gathering of friends. I had the spaghetti vongole- absolutely delicious. Ended with the panna cotta which also was a stunner. *this is a review for the Kits location on West 1st* Me and my girl friend came in here to celebrate for her birthday. This was my first time trying robba da matti and I was interested in the date night menu. The price point is great, $140 for 2 appetizers, 2 pastas, 2 desserts and 1 bottle of wine. We got the Beef Tenderloin Carpaccio and Burrata Caprese to start. Both were great, they were very generous with the burrata. Then we moved on to the 2 pastas - Lobster & Crab Ravioli and Pappardelle Rosche Rosche. Both also tasted great, though the pappardelle could be a bit more flavourful. We finished with 2 desserts, panna cotta and crème brûlée. Nothing too exciting to note with the desserts, we thought both were a bit too sweet. Moving on to the service portion, that is the reason why I only gave 2 stars. When we first arrived at the restaurant, we got seated right away as we had a reservation. The host put down the water cups (with no water) and never came back to check in. About 20 minutes later, another table was seated right beside us, that also consist of 2 people. They were provided with water and a plate of olives as soon as they sat down. At this point we did not have both. If you have been to the kits location, you would know that the two tables outside by the entrance are practically side-by-side... it is hard to miss that we didn't have anything on our table. After another 5-10 minutes, we had to flag someone down in order to place an order. It was a long night of waiting around when we needed assistance when the other tables seem to be getting theirs fine. I should also note that there was a turnover with the table next to us, and the same thing happened to the new table where they were immediately served with water and olives when they sat down. Another small detail is that I indicated we were celebrating my friend's birthday in the reservation system, though it seems like nobody took notice of it to bother saying happy birthday to my friend. It wasn't a big deal but I guess it just added to the cold service we received the whole night. Overall, the food was great and the date night menu was definitely worth the price. But due to the service I've received at the kits location, it is very unlikely that I will visit again. read more

Gorgeous, airy and spacious patio ~ perfect spot to visit during Covid. Service here was attentive, prompt, and gave lovely recommendations. We started off with the prosciutto and burrata which was delicious! The portion was generous. The bread was really fresh and the accompanying olive oil/balsamic dip was surprisingly memorable here in comparison to other places I've been to. My friend ordered the pappardelle which was amazing, it was a perfect blend of flavours.. and the short rib was extremely tender! Definitely a hearty choice. I opted for the carbonara which was also delicious, although very rich! The pasta was cooked to perfection. We ended the dinner off with the panna cotta and did not regret it. Super creamy topped with the perfect blend of berries that paired perfectly. I've been to the Yaletown location, but this location's patio is super cute and is a less busy area which I like. This is my second time at this location. The service was terrible the first time I went with a friend, but the good food made me give it another try with my fiancé. We sat outside on the covered patio which is equipped with heat lamps, greenery and twinkle lights which creates a very romantic ambiance. My fiancé ordered from the Dine Out Vancouver menu from and we shared the appy and dessert. To start, we had the Bruschetta Leccese which was a very generous size for an appetizer- we got 4 pieces of bruschetta tops with Gorgonzola, prosciutto, pine nuts and a fig marmalade. It was almost perfect, except in my opinion, the fig marmalade is not necessary and is kind of weird since it makes it quite sweet. It would be better if the starter was kept entirely savoury. For our entrees, my fiancé had the Pappardelle Rosche. The short ribs were soooo tender and just melted in your mouth. I had the gnocchi al Quattro formaggi which although vegetarian was still quite filling. The gnocchi is a dream and the way it should always be! Each piece was like a fluffy cloud covered in cheese. we shared the tiramisu for dessert which was also very good. Service was overall pretty good- no major complaints there. Four of us dined at Robba da Matti. The lamb was tough, and the pasta dishes were adequate, but portions were small. When the bill arrived, one guest tried to pay with a $100 bill. The restaurant had no change. What? The waitress said 'I don't have access to the till.' Eventually, the waitress fished around for 5 minutes and found $45 in change (restaurants in Kathmandu can break a $100 bill in less time). Apparently, the restaurant was better in the past. But the pandemic is over, so people can pay with cash, and service matters. read more

Food was delicious, we had the caprese salad with decent sized burrata serving. Carpaccio is always a good choice. Carbonara was our favourite pasta dish while the ragu pappardelle was tad on the bland side but hearty serving. read more

Horrible service. The only thing this place has got going for it is that it's in the basement of a house. Essentially, this restaurant is trying to be like the hundreds of beautiful restaurants in New York, but it falls short on many of the checkpoints My partner and I went in looking to grab desert and some wine. We'd had a beautiful dinner at another establishment close by and were looking to have a few glasses and share something sweet to end the night. We got in and were greeted by a young gentleman who told us to wait for him while he "looked for seating". Mind you, this place wasn't packed at all. We waited for a good 15 minutes and he was nowhere to be found. That's when we started to feel something was off. A few more minutes passed and we saw him hanging around the kitchen and serving some other guests their orders. Definite red flags. Another few minutes passed and some additional servers finally approached us and asked if we had been helped. We mentioned we were currently waiting for the gentleman who was now bussing tables. They apologized profusely and then left without resolving anything. A few more minutes went by and we heard them gossiping about how we wanted to "just order desert and wine". Now, I don't if they were just incompetent or if they only wanted to prioritize tips, but we were blatantly being profiled and disrespected. The space isn't that big and it was clear we were actively being shunned. All in all, we ended up going to our favourite spot just down the street, the RED ACCORDION. We had a fair share of their amazing cocktails and their special dessert of the day. For those of you who haven't been to the Red Accordion, it's much cooler than this Robba da Matti, with an amazing aesthetic and impeccable service. I was truly ready to give robba a rave review, however I truly cannot. Robba is in the heart of the west end, attached to a hotel right in the middle of Haro street. It has the most amazing outside space surrounded by plants and flowers. The space is a dream, very put together nicely. Wonderful ambiance, with kind people. We started with the charcuterie board, which was one of our favourites at the Yaletown location. Sadly this locations was a bit different, disappointing. There wasn't as much cheese, no sauces, it just didn't feel worth the price. We had gnocchi, I loved it. The gnocchi is as fluffy as a pillow soaked in cheese sauce, wowZa It was good. I realize here in North America we often want our portions oversized, but the thing is, if I am going to pay these prices for pasta, yes I want a very decent portion. However it's very small, I was still a bit hungry. I also had the lavender creme brûlée, the cream wasn't dense enough or held enough flavour , and you couldn't taste enough lavender. The wine selection is lovely, I don't feel this will disappoint you at all. We had a very nice full bodied red. I was very disappointed with the service, the people working are lovely. Very kind and helpful, however they are very very slow. I felt they were understaffed. We waited for our bill for much too long. We were totally nice about it and patient, but it's worth mentioning because I could see it really upsetting someone who wants to get out of there. The food is cooked fresh, so it does take a bit longer, but for us it was expected. Overall this place is missing nonna. That nice family feel the yaletown location has. On paper this was supposed to be a hit for my anniversary dinner. I had an 8PM reservation on a Monday night, but had to wait 15 minutes (as did everyone else with reservations). Not the end of the world. The patio looks gorgeous in pictures but the actual experience falls short. It's too brightly lit under the white tents to qualify as "romantic". I wish they'd just unscrew a few light bulbs - it would really help dim the place down. Food was disappointing. The bruschetta was embarrassing - just a pile of diced tomatoes with way too much salt and dried oregano heaped onto a chunk of baguette. It was also impossible to eat, since it was far too big eat by hand, and way too messy to eat with a knife and fork. The cold chunks of tomato just flew off the bread and rolled all over the plate. Or fell into your lap. Entrees: my wife was brought the wrong dish entirely and returned it. My pappardelle was OK but the noodles had stuck together, which shows the kitchen is either overworked or doesn't care. This has to be one of the most romantic and unique patios in Vancouver. Tucked away in a surprising nook in the West End, there is zero traffic noise on this patio, which is rare for Vancouver. The menu offerings include pasta and mains. We shared two pastas: the Pesto and Burrata, and the Roche Roche (a ragu rich with short rib and sausage). Both dishes were tasty, well-seasoned, with al dente pasta. I very much enjoyed my meal here and would return for a special-day meal or for happy hour on a mild afternoon. read more
