I just filled my tire with air the night before and the next day I see it is low again. I knew I must have had a slow leak. I don't have a go-to shop. I remember seeing this place once when I went to get gas. I pulled up, walked in and my first thought was the they were very professional, but yet personable. They took care of me within about 15-20 minutes. They charged me only $20 to fix the tire, although it was supposed to be $35 (they showed me the screen). I tried to give a tip, but they wouldn't have it. I walked to the convenient store part of the gas station where you go to pay. The woman took care of me. She was friendly. She treated me like family. I asked her where my car was. She points out the window and as I'm turning around, another guy is pulling my car up. Wow. My mouth was open. I love these guys! Why? Because they fast, stand by their work and are nice enough to take the time to tell me the problem. I'm always grateful they spend the time telling me the isue in detail(I like specifics). Spending money on car repairs is never a joy but it feels so much better to know that your dollars are going towards quality workmanship. It is very close to my apartment and I own my truck so I have been coming here for about 6 years now for regular maintenance and whatever needs to be done to keep my 2004 Nissan going. GET A SECOND OPINION! Roberto tried to screw me, and charge me $1000 for 2 parts I didn't even need. These people prey on the uninformed, and I am so happy I went to another shop to get a second opinion. The issue was my front brake pads, and they said nothing about them. I came back in to get my car after I canceled the order on what they were going to fix because it didn't feel right, and Roberto wouldn't even look at me. BUYER BEWARE. Another disappointment from this place and this time from the gas station. I am a BP member and use loyalty points every time I pump gas. After my fiasco experience with the body shop I've decided to stop by and put gas ONLY because it's a BP station and of course I wasn't able to enter my loyalty at the pump. After couple of attempts to talk to the people at the gas station to fix it all I got was excuses as of why i wasn't able to enter my loyalty card info at the pump. I'm giving them 5 stars for their excellent customer service. It was a Friday night and I was out running errands and my battery light went on and the car started slowing down. I made it to Autotech at 7:30pm and I figured I would just drop it off and come back in the morning to explain to them what happened. But, there was a mechanic in the garage working late and he asked me what was wrong. I told him the story and he knew right away what I needed. The connector from my car to the battery needed to be replaced. I told him I was going out of town tomorrow morning and really needed my car back. He said he would do the work right away when they opened at 8am. But, I told him I needed to be somewhere in the morning and 8am was too late. At the same time this was happening, the manager ended up pulling into the station to get gas and he came over to see what was up. After hearing my story, he told me I could take their loaner car for the weekend and I could come pick up my car anytime over the weekend. He was also kind enough to get me an estimate on the work right then and there even though he wasn't working. So, I was able to take their loaner car for the weekend and then come pick up my car at about 8pm on Sunday night. The work was done right, the estimate was right on and my car runs perfect. They were so accommodating especially since it was after hours. And as their usual practice, when I picked up the car there was a bottle of champagne in the car. In addition, I received a thank you card in the mail a few days later thanking me for my service. I will definitely go back to get my car serviced there. My 2009 Ford Escape water pump stopped working in the area. They were the closest repair shop. All they had to do is order the pump and change it out. The bill was over $500 dollars, and they said there were other issues with the car they could repair. i took it to my usual repair shop and told them what they said needed attention they were all false, nothing wrong. i showed them the bill for what they did. The new pump cost 59 bucks and since it is out in the open all you have to do is change it out one hour labor would have cost me 90 dollars. should have had it towed there to my regular shop and still saved hundreds. read more

This place is amazing. I hope I don't need repairs soon but if I do I will for sure come here! Don't be fooled, it's attached to a BP station but they are the real deal. I had my catalytic converter stolen (thought it was my exhaust that rusted and fell off) and they were so accommodating. My car was there for almost a week before the claims adjuster could come and they didn't bother me once. Every time they called to update me they would call me, my dad and my insurance. They were amazing with communication, so punctual, on time and just overall genuinely happy to help me with my car troubles. When I picked up my fixed car, there was a bottle of champagne in the front seat! They were amazing. Nicest guys and they do not overcharge for small fixes. The initial consultation on my car was free too. So happy with AutoTech! Thanks guys! Went in for a brake line replacement. From the first, Robert was nothing but helpful. Not only do they offer pickup/dropo-off services, but they are quick! My Truck was dropped off at 10:30 AM and was ready around 2 PM, and there were several vehicles ahead of mine. I have to say that I was hesitant about some negative reviews on Yelp, but the majority were older posts. I was also a little hesitant to drop it off at what is really a Marathon gas station, but don't let that stop you!!! These guys are quick, kind and willing to help. This place came recommended to me by a friend who had used them before. My car had multiple issues that had basically made it unsafe to use. I called them up in the afternoon and was able to drop off my car to them in the late afternoon so they could do a diagnostic and give an estimate for the repairs. By early evening of the same day they called me to give the estimate. It was costly but that was to be expected. However, I haggled down the price a little bit because I offered to pay all in cash. They accepted and went to work on my car. I was a bit shocked when they called me the following morning to inform me my car was ready for pick-up. I thought they might need more time or at least take their time with it longer. But I drove it away from their shop and it runs perfect as if it were brand new! So I appreciate the quality work they did and the quick turn-around time. The first time customer gift was a nice unexpected bonus as well. Thanks guys! read more

Brought my car here because my left rear was making a loud noise. Asked them if they could take a look they said they were pretty busy but if I wanted to leave the car it would not be a problem. I explained I was on my way to work and needed to make plans to get there if I were to be without a car and he summoned a mechanic right away to take a look. Sure enough it was the breaks and the mechanic showed me the problem right there with drum open. I was then quoted a price for the breaks and a driver side mirror that was taken off just a few days before. The price was way cheaper than expected and they completed the work within the day. When my wife picked up the car that evening they left a bottle of Proseco in the car with a Thank you. l known some good mechanics and some pretty bad ones, and although this is my first time here, I feel reassured by their friendly service. read more

These guys are top notch!!!!!! I have brought mine and my wife's car here several times and have always been treated like royalty. I have never had anyone there that did not bend over backwards to keep the customer happy. When I met my wife she did not apparently realize that cars need to get her oil changed. Needless to say her ford only made it about 40k miles. After several estimates they were by far the cheapest. They arranged the tow and gave me a ride. The shop has recently turned in to bp station but the same owners and employees are still there. They did some beautifully updated the station and still have that small corner shop feel with their customer service. I currently reside about an hour south of there location, but to me it is worth the drive every time. I will never have my car repaired any where else. read more

I also had my engine light on for a long time, which didn't bother me that much as it didn't burn my gas at all but when I got into my car, it was gone! Dropped off my vehicle at one of the fancy dealerships in the North Shore of Chicago and received significantly lesser service. Auto Tech offered to do the work for far under the price, as well. We took our vehicle in for an oil change and tire rotation and left it with them for 24 hours. By the time we picked it up about 25 DVD's, which my kids watch on long drives, were stolen. We immediately went back and spoke with one of the owners. He promised to make things right, went into his office and left us waiting for about 20 minutes and then backtracked from there. He knows the DVD"s were there when we dropped the vehicle off as he mentioned seeing them. He also mentioned that he was the one to drive the vehicle in for service in the morning and knew that the car had been locked overnight. He said that he sincerely believed that someone from his place stole the DVD's, as the car had not been "broken into, nor were other items stolen, but still did not reimburse the cost of them to us. I even took my 7 and 8 year old there after my initial conversation, and had them look him in the eye and ask why someone stole from them and why he wasn't making the situation right. Needless to say I do not recommend this place of business. read more

Foster and Broadway on the southwest corner. Total rip off on work, I think the two main owners are gone. They were way above the estimate quoted me, they do not itemize the bill, they admitted that they "didn't inspect that part" of a Air conditioning inspection, then they told me two different things were wrong with AC. They did not do the work I requested. They charged me for an auto inspection, didn't tell me their be additional work, then when questioned they just said, "you needed a pvc valve thats wh its $100 more." Whgen asked that should have been told to me before because they charged me for an auto inspection, Dave said yeah but I saved you on taxes." when I said you didn't itemize the bill, how do I know what you charged me on itemized part." he hung up on me. He also had listed 'gas cap' on a tune-up, although I did not need another gas cap, the point is its not part of a tune up. they seem to use the tune up as an open door for more charges. They made faces at me and made female comments. I am out $800, don't know if they did anything, my car runs like junk, I still have no AC. They never called me to follow up with parts for the AC. Beware of this owner and managers. They overcharge for parts. I did everything I thought I was to do. Though they claim to have been doing business in Uptown for more than 35 years, I cannot believe they have been FLEECING people for that long. I have been overcharged for every part I have ever had to purchase from this facility. It started with a coolant leak. I was charged $370.00 to remove and replace radiator hoses, thermostat and gasket. After looking under the hood none of these repairs took place.(this was 4/15).Then 10/31/15 I was told I needed a fuel pump for a 2007 vehicle. While Roberto's name is on the invoice, the only person I dealt with was Tony (told me he was the owner).Tony charged me $518.19 for a fuel pump that actually cost $270.99 at Advance Auto Parts. The labor charge was $242.50. The most astounding thing about this is I probably only needed a gas cap which cost about $25.00. The reason for my panic was that my check engine light was on. Tony had a mechanic use some gadget to assure me that I needed that fuel pump. The auto parts store is across the street from AutoTech. When I suggested that I go over a purchase the part Tony then told me he could not guarantee the part and if anything went wrong that it could create other problems. So I trusted him and agreed to have the work done. Trust me these guys are very charismatic, they make you feel very comfortable. Not knowing anything about car repair, I listened to Tony. Now this was idiotic on my part, Tony told me to bring the car when it was nearly empty Well I later learned that the car would indicate the need for a fuel pump because it wouldn't start, so why run out of gas? They supposedly did the job, but the car stopped on me as I was going home. I called the shop and told them the car stopped when the gas indicator read 70 more miles before empty. Tony's response was to not let the gas hand get that low. This was crap!!! Before the tow truck came, my car started and I got the gas and the car ran fine. The next time my car stopped for the same reason I was on Lake Shore Drive. I called AAA, who came and brought me gas. I couldn't understand why I'd shelled out more than $800 and the car was having the same problem. The last straw was when my car started smoking in the radiator area temperature indicator was not above the halfway mark. I took the car back to AUTOTECH and was told by Victor that I needed a radiator. He told me they were very busy but he'd give me a call when they had time to check it out. Later Victor called, told me I needed a radiator and he just happened to have one in the shop. I authorized the job over the phone but I had no idea that Victor would charge me $301.98 for a Spectra PREMIUM radiator that actually cost $129.50! After the work was finished, I picked up my car and still smelled antifreeze for a couple of days. I asked around my friends suggested I go on line to check out the actual prices for the parts I'd paid for. I was astounded! I called AUTOTECH and complained about the charge for the radiator. I told them I needed an invoice for the costs of all the parts I'd purchased. I was told to bring my car back and they would check out the problem. I asked for the invoices they had for the parts they'd ordered for my car. To this day I have yet to receive any of them. When I went to pick up my car, Roberto showed me something on his phone to show they'd taken car of the problem. I still wanted a receipt. No go,instead I was given a $150.00 store credit to use at my discretion and a bottle of sparkling wine for being one of their best customers! I was also told to post something on YELP. Needless to say, I have not received any invoices so I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. It's been 6 months and I still have not heard anything from Tony. I also sent a certified letter to AUTOTECH on Foster and Broadway which was returned to me Attempted -Not known. I really liked this place because of the location and the fact they flew the Pride Flag but now I know that was just a ploy. The flag is no longer flying. I am over 60 years old and I realize this is my fault, but I thought I'd weigh in since there are so many wonderful reviews. While some have expressed great joy with the service, I say BEWARE!!! I've always been told that there were several cars ahead of mine and my car was always ready after they'd closed the shop. Just one more tidbit, when it's time to pick up the car, no managers are around. Pick up and pay the bill in the gas station. read more

I went here because of the positive reviews and they did not disappoint. I know very little about cars, but when my car started making a terrible smell and unusual amount of smoke came billowing from the exhaust, I knew I had to get it checked out. I told Victor at the shop about the issues over the phone and he told me I should bring it in. When I got there today, Victor helped me fill out the paperwork and told me they would discount the diagnostic fee if I ended up getting my car fixed there. He also offered me a ride. I told him I was just going to the nearby redline and he insisted. Later this afternoon, Victor called after two mechanics inspected the car and found what they believed to be the cause of the problem. He gave me a very reasonable quote and asked if I wanted to have it fixed. I said yes and I asked if they could please check the brakes because I remember them squeaking. Victor said he would have them checked. He called back 10 minutes later and let me know that the brakes were fine and were probably squeaking because of the cold. He said he didn't want to sell me new brakes when I didn't need them, because that's not how they do business. They finished the repair the same day I dropped off the car and it was ready for pickup when I got off work. When I came to pick up the car, not only does the car run great but Victor had left a bottle of champagne for me! I am extremely pleased with the service here, will come back when I have any issues, and recommend this place to anyone looking to have your car serviced. read more
