The first time I was in here they helped me find the correct light that I need to replace and actually put it in for me.

When my Hyundai Sonata's low beam warning light came on it meant I needed to make some calls and get Googling. A Hyundai dealer priced the light and install at about $130. I watched a youtube install. Aways harder for me to do than the guy who has done it 5,000 times. But, I decided to do it myself and bought the light from O'Reilly's, 5316 N. Milwaukee Ave. just off of 90/94. Still the reluctant mechanic, I asked the sales guy about an installation since they had once installed my wipers for free. It's something they do for everybody who buys wipers. Who knew? Jason A. was obviously an expert, unassuming and offered to replace my faulty low beam in a driving rain and in the freakn' parking lot for free, except for the price of the light, of course. Lights can be a much more complex process than wipers. Oh, I asked him what his job title was. Reply? Store Manager. From purchase to install, it took about 12 minutes. The kicker, I saved about $115 over a dealer's price for the combo install and product and Jason provided the best service imaginable. I left there feeling like I had won something. Suddenly things seemed much brighter. Thanks Jason.

I've had really bad customer service experiences with other stores nearby so I thought I should give this location a try. Immediately when I walk in I see it's not busy. Three employees were talking amongst themselves but once they saw me all asked to provide assistance. Let me tell you how awkward and loud it got... It didn't. The men were very respectful when I declined for help and waited at their respective posts. So my problem today was that my AC unit wasn't blowing any cold air. Typical me just assumed I needed AC/coolant liquid. I walk up to the cashier with a gallon's worth and really inquire on my problem. He asks to take a look at my car, which is what happened, and he recommended to recharge my AC thingy, (there goes my knowledge). I had NO idea what that was and was completely blown away by this technique I've never heard of. He walked me through the procedure, and found what appropriate sized canister was best. Completely professional. As I'm purchasing the product, the store manager comes up to ask me on my prior knowledge of this. I tell him I don't know anything, he tells me all the tips & tricks & the do's & do not's.. I was completely frozen in fear and anxiety. Luckily, he was nice enough to even do the WHOLE recharging procedure outside with me in today's heat. We stood outside for 15-20 minutes just periodically checking the AC vents in my car to feel if any effort amounted to anything. I was concerned that I needed to replace something or fix another thing. The manager kept reassuring me that as long as a wheel was running I should be fine. Long story short, I got what I needed: a lesson & a very cold car. I give huge props to the gentlemen inside as well as Andres, the store manager on duty. His customer service etiquette really changed my perspective on the Autozone locations here.

He claimed that the small screw was for holding the motherboard and didn't need removal. He had the keys to my home and handed me back the single key. When I asked about my keys, he took a couple minutes to locate them. Didn't appreciate his sense of humor, nothing funny about getting locked outside in the cold weather. I purchased a battery from Walgreens that didn't appear to work. I noted the polarity when removing the battery. Next day I went to Honda. Honda informed me that the battery had been installed incorrectly. They indicted that the screw should have been removed rather than stripped. Well he did warn me that he might break it. Wish he would have mentioned putting the battery back in the wrong way.

When I didn't get the confirmation email that they were ready to pick up, like I usually do when I order something from them online, I stopped by the store to find out why. It all ended up okay, because they refunded me the cost and sold me a different pair, but I'd expected it to be a quick trip, and it instead turned into more of a project. On the other hand, Adam, who installed the one headlight for me, was great -- excellent customer service on his part. The guy who was supposed to call me and didn't (and admitted it while I stood there)? Not so much. Fortunately, because I've purchased from them several times, I know this isn't the norm. It's just a shame that it happened.

The guys at the register are always slow to respond and ultimately indignant if they have to help me find an item or even answer a question. But this last time was a new low. Once again it took about 5 minutes just to get their attention in order to ring me up, but this time, there was about seven or eight "friends" of the two guys working there. Literally like eight guys all standing behind the register counter staring at the customer. Honestly, it felt and looked more like a gang then anything else. And of course, all of them staring at me while I bring my items to the counter for purchase. So sorry to interrupt! I'm just the dumbass customer that's doing the shopping, and not a part of the gang-related activities behind the counter! Well done AutoZone!
