Stopped by on Saturday to check my car battery because I just recently purchased my suv (used), and didn't want to be stuck anywhere since the weather was going to get super cold. The employees looked annoyed, but the one guy who came out ended up being nice. Helpful, not so much. He said the battery is fine and I just need to drive it for it to recharge. Today my car won't start and I'm stuck. I need to find a company to come switch out the battery because it's in a weird spot in the car and I can't remove it myself. The guy who rang me up Paul L. was very rude. I ordered a windshield wiper online and when i got there i totally forgot to order the other one. When I noticed it and brought it up to him, he looked at me like I was an idiot instead of being considerate & understanding. I have been ubering all night and morning, so I tend to forget things when I'm overworked. But anyways when I asked for the other one, he didn't mention that it would have been cheaper to buy it online, so i ended up paying 9 dollars more smh. When I noticed it was more, he looked at me with a dirty look, like he wanted to call me an idiot. Don't come to this place for parts if you don't like to be treated disrespectfully & looked at dirty. And if you do stear clear of this rude person, Paul L. I came here not for any fancy auto parts but just some windshield washer fluid. A sign on the shelf stated in bold type, "2 for $8.00" (regular price $4.99 each). But the product rang up at the non-discounted price. A sales rep followed me to the aisle so he could see for himself the sign attached to a shelf brimming with gallon jugs of this product. He replied that the sign was for a different product, which was at the far end of the aisle. So, duh, why was the sign placed here and not next to the sale item??? "A customer must have moved the product." Yah, sure. True, $2 is mere pocket change. However the stupidity was the store's. Their refusal to honor the price posted on the shelf containing the product saved the store $2 but lost a customer forever. read more

The staff at AAP was incredibly helpful in testing my battery, showing me all of the available battery options for my car & which was best, and installing it for me. In the last few years, I've probably shopped at this store a half dozen times. It's located in a busy strip shopping center at the NW corner of Skokie Blvd. and Gross Point Rd. There's plenty of off-street parking. Although it appears the large retail store is seldom busy, I'm told their wholesale business is what keeps them going. The store is always spotless and the staff is helpful and cordial. On my last visit, my salesperson was Edwin. I must say, he was particularly friendly and made my shopping experience particularly pleasant. I'm glad this store exists and I wish them continued success. I'll be back. read more

Stopped in over the weekend to purchase windshield wiper blades. I was a bit nervous that I would get taken advantage of as a woman walking into a car parts store. I was pleasantly surprised when I was greeted by a lady named Maria at the front desk. Maria helped me to look up my car and figure out which price range would work best for me, and even pulled out two different brands of wiper blades to show me the physical difference between the two. She was extremely patient, kind and personally helped me to pick them out on the floor. When I had stated that I also wanted LED's for my car, she eagerly helped me to figure out which ones were fit for my car. Maria was excellent! She did not push any product on me or make me feel rushed, she made my experience wonderful, stress-free and dare I say, enjoyable. I would highly recommend anyone to see her if they are heading into this store. Maria is truly one of a kind. read more

I went to the store and ordered two items for an oil change. Neither was in stock. I paid for the items and returned to pick them up. Only one item was ready so I came back a second time. i didn't have my receipt and they wouldn't let me take the items. The store didn't know how to look up the items. I went back a fourth time to get my money back. The store refunded all the money accept a $6 shipping fee. The guy at the desk gave me the phone number and said I could call to get the $6 refunded. I called and the person on the phone called the store manager, Robert. Robert said I had to go to the store to get the $6. I refused and the person, Ginger, on the phone said she would have to mail me the $6 and it would take a month. I was on the phone for 29 minutes. I have been to many different Advance Auto Parts in several different parts of the country and have never had a problem with their battery installation before today. With that being said, I have never seen ANY company *guarantee* a service, sell you the parts, and then refuse to uphold the service they promised. The gentleman working the front desk was indeed helpful (which is the ONLY reason this review has 2 stars), until he told us he was unable to install the battery for us. This should have been something stated to us BEFORE we spent $150 in their store. Unacceptable way to treat customers. read more

Andy was AMAZING. After buying a snow brush, I noticed that my windshield fluid wasn't working. Andy helped my open the hood and checked the reservoir, refilled the the windshield fluid, and when it still didn't work he let me have the windshield fluid for free. Extremely rude and slow service. Went in for a simple in-store pickup of an online purchase which should have taken 2 minutes. Instead I was in the store for 45 minutes! The lady at the counter was taking phone calls instead of helping customers that were in the store. Not only was my order not ready, the lady took ten minutes to try and find it. Then she could not find the part that I ordered and had me look for it myself. As it turned out the part that I ordered was not in stock, even though the website said it was. I offered to accept a comparable part since I didn't feel like going to a different store, but the lady refused and told me I would just have to cancel my order. This after waiting 45 minutes on her taking phone calls and helping customers that got there after me. The lady had a bad attitude and never once did she even apologize. Never going back to this store again after this experience. AAP is a good company but there are much better locations to visit. No need to deal with rude and slow people. read more

Most part places have promotions, so I won't linger on the good deal I got for a synthetic oil&oil filter combo. However, what really does stand out it is the genuine friendliness and helpfullness of the staff. It's no fun to find your car with a dead battery. AAA got it jumped, but the guy warned me if the battery is old, which it was, I would be dumb not to replace it. So I checked online for deals. The only place I found offering a deal was Advance Auto Parts. The battery specified for my car was $108.99 (not too bad) but it was eligible for a $27.00 discount (online purchase only). So I called the local store to make sure they had it and to find out how long I would have to commit to the install. The store tech, Dennis, told me over the phone that my car would be a difficult install so I had to allow for possible 45 minutes. But the good news was that the install was FREE! I watched him do the switch out. It was not easy but he got it done in under 30 minutes. Very professional! I tried to tip him, but he wouldn't accept it! When was the last time that happened? The location on Skokie Blvd. was not yet listed on Yelp, so I am making sure you know it is there. They deserve all the customers they can get! Go ahead and search yourself; you can save time and money by using this deal if you are in need of a battery right now. read more
