I came here around 4PM on a Wednesday. A girl with blue hair tried to help me. I told her I wanted to replace my car battery and she looked at me like she didn't understand. She proceeded to ask me if I wanted to buy a car battery. I said yes. She was making judgmental facial expressions throughout our whole conversation. She asked me if I wanted to test my car battery so I said sure. We went out to my car and I popped the hood, and she didn't know how to lift it open. Then, she couldn't even test the car battery with the device she brought out. I told her that it was fine and wanted to replace the battery anyway. We went in and she finally told me there was nobody clocked in that knew how to install a battery and that someone was coming in at 4:30PM. I said that's okay and asked if they would be able to install it. She said, "I don't know. It depends on if they're in a good or bad mood." Went to this Autozone location, had to take an Uber cause my car was malfunctioning. Got there at 8:49. Go up to the door and it's locked. I knock and The guys inside signal that they're closed. I point to my watch indicating that they didn't choose for 11 minutes. To which, they shrug their shoulders and turn away from need ignoring me. Pfft. I was not the only person standing there. There were 4 other customers who our up and the same time. They turned everyone away, so they could go home 10 minutes early. Pure laziness if you ask me. I was at Alum Rock Park and decided to stop by after for a new Duralast battery and installation. I am so happy that they helped me to put it in the car, I don't carry those kinds of tools with me, although it wouldn't hurt to. 198 and got that off the car to do list for a couple of years, thank you!! One star and I'm being generous. I called ahead to see if they do battery and relay testing. Lady on the phone couldn't understand me on the phone, so I had to slowly repeat myself like one would lecture a child. Ugh. She confirmed they did both. Great, right? When I arrived, she (older lady with all the hand tattoos) did the whole "you KNOW we can charge the battery for you right?" No. I don't want it charged, I want it tested. Told her such and she got huffy. Who is the customer here? Her? She kept trying to push me to buy a battery. Once again NO. Can't I just get this tested? After a day I went back to the store to exchange it for the correct battery but the teenagers told me that they didn't have a battery for my car and gave me another battery for 2 years but didn't want to give me the difference in money. The two teenagers told me that they couldn't give me the credit because they didn't know how to give me the difference in money. The only reason I go to this particular location is because it is right off of the exit on Capitol Expressway. If it weren't for convenience, I don't think I'd ever shop here. When you pull up into the driveway, it is almost as if they are running a mobile Jiffy Lube! It's actually pretty ridiculous! Don't get me wrong, there are times when you just have to swap out a bulb, wiper, fuse, etc., but come on!! Doing a full on tune-up in the parking lot is a little much. Moving on: Employees here don't seem to take pride in customer service. Some folks are rude, and some are just slightly friendly. Once in a while you will get someone that is helpful and cordial, but it is rare. Conclusion: It's in a convenient location, but service and atmosphere miss the mark. Went to go return an alternator, Abel said he needed the mechanic shop owner to come in.. my mechanic was able to call him and gave us all the info. Abel the manager refused to honor the warrantee of the alternator. So we left, and he told us as we were already out the door that we can't exit, and he followed us out the store and wrote down our truck work #. A very strange encounter. I recently went in to purchase a new spark plug cord set. Before purchasing the item, I have checked the cords to see the condition and they seemed to be used as the inserts had dirty oil in them. I have asked the representative at the front if I can see another set to compare, and she said those were the only ones they had in stock. I have asked to check as I could see more of the same box behind her where she got them. She adamantly said there are no more. I had no choice but to purchase the questionable spark plug cord set as I need them. As I have In have installed the cords, similar issues were seen from the old cord set. I have asked a near by autoshop to check the cords. They laughed and said these were faulty. I have asked to fix the issues for my car, as they only need to replace the spark plug cord set. Tried to give this place the benefit of the doubt but its just not happening. I came to get an oil filter along with some oil. I was at the counter talking to the cashier telling him what car, year, and etc in order to get the correct filter. He goes into the back and bring ones out. I take it out of the box to examine it and realize its different then the one i normally used to seeing. He insists its the right one. I didn't have time to argue and said fine ill take his word for it. WORST DECISION EVER! I just knew there was something wrong with it. I get home, I proceeded to change my car oil. Put on the new filter, add the oil, and started my car. Immediately after starting my car an alert says to check engine oil. I step out of my car only to realize there is a huge puddle of motor oil all over my car port. (6 quarts worth) All because the oil filter was the wrong one like i told the cashier in the first place. I was forced to buy ANOTHER 6 quarts of oil, ANOTHER CORRECT FILTER, Not to include kitty litter to clean the car port full of oil, and waste my time changing my oil and clean my car port. If you buy something from ANY AutoZone and it doesn't look right its probably because its wrong. read more

Today I had an emergency to my car: the engine lights were on and the "trac off" were also on. I couldn't figure out what happened but I knew it had something to do with the computer because it happened before. My car wouldn't go pass 40 miles per hour and the engine was also making weird sounds and it was shaking. I took it to this autozone shop, even though I know they wouldn't be able to fix it since they don't have a service area. I told them my situation and I asked for help, and if they can check it for me. Fortunately, Jose, the store manager, helped me so much, and way beyond his service. He wasn't able to fix my car, but he helped me figure out what could have been the problem. He was very helpful, and he had done a phenomenal job assisting me. The customer service is top notch. The only strange thing was the "extra" pieces that had been randomly put in the box with my part. The cashier said someone must have thrown them in there so she put them aside and saved me from wondering what the heck those pieces were supposed to be for. This place is also a lot busier than the other one so it took a bit longer to make my way through the line. Totally not near my house but they had what I needed in stock- always a plus. read more

It's an auto store. I been here before for purchase, but I honestly don't remember my experience. Though I'll yelp about my oil recycling experience rather than my shopping experience. This is the closet place to my house where I can drop off used motor oil. The city of San Jose's web site says to call before coming in, you actually don't even have to. I called and they just say yes, bring it in. When I got there, I actually had to carry the oil into the back. But the good thing they were ok with me just leaving it there. I needed windshield wipers. First guy on the register Joel S. smiled and greeted me and my mom, even though he was with another customer. He seemed very happy and so I went to him to help me pick out some wipers for my car. He quickly looked it up on the computer, walked us over to the wipers and made a suggestion and gave an opinion based off of what he uses. No pressure in buying a certain one. But I took his recommendation. I asked if he could install it for me and he happily said yes! And he was dealing with a bunch of customers coming up to him and asking him questions in which he quickly helped them and then helped me with my wipers. Thanks, Joel S! I first of would love to say autozone has always given me great service unlike O'reilly who has a history of treating customers like trash. I speak from experience as a customer and a former manager. It is a culture where they believe they are right over the customer. Today I visited this location and with the help of Jose who I believe was the manager on duty he helped me pick out a color for scratch fix for my car and since the color is custom he got a color that was close to what my vehicle is. So kudos to him for taking the time to help a customer and give the service that keeps customers coming back. Thank you for all the help and also giving me a smile and the desire to keep coming back to this location since it's close to where I live now. For the last 2 days, I've had to jump start my car every time I went to work, picked up my son after work, get gas, & basically any time I needed to get into my car. Clearly I had to get my battery replaced. Thank God whoever I dealt with in 2015 recommended the whatever car battery that had a warranty. I went in today hassle free, able to get my battery replaced free of charge by an employee named Rick. He was very helpful and asked no questions whatsoever. Autozone is cool in that they have a free-rent a tool program. Which means that you buy the tool and then when you are finished using the tool, you can return it in a clean condition for a full refund. I usually barrow the scanner tool for check engine light service which cost around 250 dollars but I only use it in the parking lot and return it in 10 minutes for my full refund. They have other tools such as ball joint separators and pickle forks, etc. There is a full list of their free tool rental program at their store. If all friends could be like Autozone, I wouldn't need to buy any tools. read more
