My Daughter & I have gone into Auto Zone a couple of times. I would have to say that Ronald Waisanen is the Most Helpful & is Very Knowledgeable. He has great customer service skills. He is the only one we will go to when we need help with our car. In fact we went in there one day last week & he was off that day, We turned around & walked out. I needed batteries for my keyless remote, upholstery cleaner, micro fiber cloths and car seat covers for my Hyundai. I live in Tujunga and so it made sense to stop in and get this done. They have a great spacious parking lot and you can re-enter traffic from the side street at the light on Foothill. Cesar waited on me, helped me remove my keyless remote from the chain, placed my batteries, helped me find what I needed and recommended the cleaner for my upholstery. I really enjoy entering a store when the clerk actually acknowledges everyone in a welcoming way and promises to be quick, and then delivers. I needed brake pads for my Honda. The man looked up the part number rang it up and off I went. On the way back to the shop I looked at the box and noticed the Part number was for a less expensive part even though they had charged me for the more expensive part that I wanted. I went back and got the part that I paid for. Next, I went back and bought rear pads two days later (dumb ?, yes ). When I went to put them on, they didn't fit. When they pulled the part they transposed the numbers and once again gave me the wrong part but charged me for the correct part. These are not the smartest bunch on Foothill Blvd. If they didn't have such good parts I would never shop here again ! read more

First off, I am not currently myself a motorist. I'm between cars - namely, I am between the imaginary car I have never owned and my next, purely hypothetical vehicle. I know very little about cars - so long as it has at least three doors and five wheels, I'm happy. My good friend Mike, though? He owns the s**t out of a car. He may not understand how any of the strange machinery in its belly makes its wheels turn and its five-disc CD player play CDs, but he sure knows how to sit in the driver's seat and turn that wheel. I assume the wheel is some kind of go-faster crank. When Mike came over to visit and decided at 8:30 in the Goddamn morning that we absolutely without question had to have Taco Bell for breakfast, we jumped into his car and he turned the key, at which point the car made a sound such as a chain-smoking robot might make. It was worrying. It took a couple of minutes but Mike finally got the car to start, and as we'd arrived at Taco Bell fifteen minutes before they'd opened we decided to drive up to the nearest auto parts store and see if they could identify the problem. They did, quickly and with some ease - it was the battery. It was nearly dead. Lovely. They quickly sold Mike a brand-spanking new battery and some circles (the circles, I can only assume, are part of some weird alchemical ritual which must be performed, otherwise the car will reject its new organ), and they even offered to replace the battery for us, given that Mike and I have the combined car knowledge of a concussed squirrel. A man came out, lifted the hood, looked at the old battery for a moment, then went back inside. He didn't come out for some time. In fact after about fifteen minutes we peered in through the window to find him serving other customers. I admire the man's dedication to customer service, but there was a whole other representative at least twice his size standing at the other til looking at his finger nails and whistling to himself. I believe he was whistling a tune from the hit movie "Annie". After another eight-or-so minutes, Mike decided to walk back into the store and inform the man who was supposed to be inserting the new battery that he hadn't actually inserted the battery yet. At this point the guy's colleague walked over and gently informed Mike that the sun will indeed come out tomorrow (which, this being southern California, is more or less a given). Mike stepped out again, and was shortly thereafter followed by the guy whose sole contribution to our automotive adventure over the last 40 minutes was to open the hood of the car and glare at a dead battery. After glaring at the dead battery some more and deducing that, yes, it wasn't going to change itself, he dutifully took it out. Then he vanished again. Not literally, I'm not suggesting he went *fup* and the air rushed to fill the vacant void where he had once stood. I am saying he retreated back into the store, probably to listen to his colleague list the various qualities he bets his birth parents have. He emerged again after ten minutes and began to put the new battery into the car. Now, the key word in that sentence is "began". He started. He made an effort, and for that I will admire him always. But he seemed stumped by the fact that there was, in technical terms, a *bit* preventing the battery from fitting in the gap where a battery is supposed to go. It was like performing a heart transplant, only instead of the new heart fitting snugly in the gap the old one sat in, instead it sort-of leans half-inside the hole pulsating awkwardly. He soon figured out that one of the bars designed to hold the battery in place was obstructing his effort, and then made an effort to move it by, I kid you not, hitting it with a wrench. This rather miraculously worked, in the same way that my mother sticking a screwdriver in the loading slot of our old VCR player managed inexplicably to get the ancient device reading media again. It took AutoZone five minutes to sell my friend a new battery, and nearly a full hour for them to make good on their promise to install the thing. The store wasn't particularly busy either, this being a Sunday morning. To make matters worse, the Taco Bell had apparently opened at 8am, so we could have gone straight there anyway. Somehow this is AutoZone's fault, I just know it. If you have a car and find yourself needing to replace an item such as a battery or an air freshener, these guys will identify the problem fairly promptly and sell you exactly what you need. Just don't expect them to rush to your aid if you need help installing the thing, even when they tell you they'll do exactly that. read more

Called and asked for Rear Break Pads and Rotors. Went to pick up, asked again to make sure if they are for rear. Guy on the phone, and a different guy at the store both confidently said "yes, it is for the rear". Took it to my mechanic and found out they gave me front pads and rotors. Wow! Amazing job! DO NOT GO HERE trust me your wallet and time are on the line here. Go to O'reilly's their employees actually help you and their manager isn't a despicable crook like at autozone. On top of that, O'reilly's has the same products as autozone but cheaper. I used to come here all the time (mainly because it was the closest auto parts store) until I purchased some rim cleaner RECOMMENDED BY AN AUTOZONE EMPLOYEE which oxidized my rims. I came back immediately and was told that the manager would swap it out for me in the morning. Well I came back in the morning and the scumbag manager Juan had the audacity to accuse me of scamming them, saying I filled the rim cleaner bottle with water. I told him go ahead and open it, it's the exact same liquid that I bought yesterday. He fabricated this nonsense to refuse my refund and basically ACCUSED ME OF BEING A THIEF, instead of doing his job as a manager to help a customer with a legitimate problem. Really this clown thought I was trying to scam them out of a $7 product. I would have been happy to keep this cleaner if it worked properly or just exchange it for a different one. Well one of the employees gave me my money back after that coward excuse for a manager fled to the back. Thank goodness somebody finally felt like doing their job at this pos fraudulent business. Trust me don't waste your money and time on a horrible place like this, God knows how much money I've spent here and I was accused of stealing? Haha yeah get real idiot. read more

I drove by this place on Thursday I believe. There was a parking enforcement officer in the lot. That reminded me of my experience the week before. It was Wednesday the 27th I came in here. I remember because I was to drive to lax but my tire pressure light kept coming on and off. I wanted to ask someone what the right pressure for my car is and see if they sold tire gauges. There were so many cars in the parking lot, but no one in the store. It was so odd. Ryan must not work Wednesday's because no one greeted me. That's what I was waiting on so I could ask my question but there was no one. Maybe there was an employee meeting, but where were the customers? I'm guessing that's why parking enforcement was there. I went in to this AutoZone for a few things like wiper blades for my car. I met employee, Joseph at the check-out counter. The store had just run out of plastic bags so he offered to help carry my purchases to my car, just outside the front doors. As we walked up to the car, he asked if I needed help installing the wipers. I said that would be terrific! With a screw driver from my trunk to help pop-off the old blades, Joseph had the pair of new blades installed in no time! Every time I go into this place I wait in line for what seems like FOREVER! While the guys behind the counter lean on the computer chopping it up with each other or the customer. I guess they've never heard of multi tasking, as your talking about nothing even slightly related to auto parts keep typing!! I went to get stuff for an oil change & guy looked up what type of filter is needed for my car & tells me that my car uses conventional oil not synthetic. So since he's working at an auto parts store & looking at their computer & im just a dumb girl I assumed he knew more then I do about oil. Not the case ....when I got home I read the manual & I definitely need synthetic oil. Extremely slow service & poor product knowledge. read more

I've had my battery replaced and my last visit was to replace some windshield wipers that broke while I was driving in the pouring rain. I bought a new car and wanted to get seat covers for it immediately as I have a toddler who cruises with me everywhere I go. so I went to autozone the kids behind the counter were helpful and nice . I brought my newly purchased seat covers home to try them on and noticed a fairly large rip on the first seat cover I was attempting to put on, so I folded it ip and put it back in the box 3 days have past and I finally have a oppertuinty to return the item but I have somehow misplaced my receipt so I called the store talked to a guy named fred who I can tell instantly hates his job and people for that matter he told me he could not give me my money back for the seatcovers because I don't have the receipt that much I understand. he continued to accuse me of ripping the merchandise and told me he wouldn't even give me store credit. j was appuled and told him his customer service skills are lacking greatly and that I was going to speak with a manager he then hung up on me. at the time I was fine with just an exchange but now I will be calling the corporate office to get my money back because i can't fathom the thought of giving that store any of my money ($60.00) not cheap. I live right down the street but will now be taking my business to kragen. Very happy with this AutoZone it has become my Goto auto parts place, and I will go out of my way to get there. I have been going for a few years, always helpful, they are willing to discuss my concerns, and even if I chose the lower-end product for my high-end sports car, they are just as happy to help me out. Today we received great service again at Autozone in Tujunga. My battery that I purchased there was still under warranty and I received a new battery free. The manager was waiting on me he was very knowledgeable and took care of my battery replacement fast. I also purchased something else that he helped me with. I must say that my husband and I always go to this auto zone and we always get good service and people there are knowledgeable and happy to help you. I even tried to tip them and they would not take the tip which I think they deserved. We will continue to shop there for our auto needs. I am 70 and my husband is 75 and we appreciate good service and happy and knowledgeable employees. Its rare that we will take the time to rate service but they deserve it at this auto zone. read more

I've been buying from AutoZone for many years but never had a bad experience. I drove by to find a screw for my car's front seat and asked "Ron" maybe he could help me, but he didn't bother himself even walk with me and show me what my options are. He was like it not my responsibility or I don't care, go ahead and find it by yourself. Even, I took out another screw from my other seat to show him what exactly I'm looking for but he was so rude, careless and acting like he doesn't work there and wouldn't like to help me. But on the other hand, I bought 2 windshield blades from Jesus and he took his time and helped me to find the right part. When Jesus saw me that upset he told me if I'd like he can help me but I couldn't stand to stay one more minute. read more

Some of the guys/gals there are good, some are pretty bad. I would rather write a great review, but after Fredrick's poor service, I felt compelled to write. On Sunday, they were a little overwhelmed - unless they are always busy on Sundays and decided to just not hire enough workers, it is forgivable. There were two guys at the counter and 4 of us in line. Fredrick was helping some guys get some parts and was painfully slow. Again, forgivable as he is just not a fast typist and just seemed to move a little slower than typical Los Angeles. Perhaps I can learn from his example. But that day I was in a hurry, and was fine waiting, but it was difficult. For the guy in front of me, pacing, turning, apparently deciding if his purchase was worth waiting, etc, he wasn't fine waiting. What was burning the guy in front of me and myself up was Fredrick stopping working to yuck it up with these guys a little. It wasn't much, but enough to be irritating since there was a growing line and the customers being helped weren't finishing. He finally finished with those guys and helped the next two guys rather quickly. Now I'm up and he calls me: "next." I tell him I have a return, knowing that he will have to leave the register he is at and walk 15' back to the computer he was just at to process it. He says, "ok, next one then" and points to the guy behind me. I told him that I was next, I had been waiting and that I expected him to help me. He walked over by the computer he would have to use and tried to explain that he was just going to work at the register since he was already there - while standing in front of the return computer. I can't make him help me, and he didn't. He helped the guy after me. Ironically, I have many times offered for people behind me to go ahead if they have a few items and I have many, or if they are in a hurry, or any other reason. But that day I had my family waiting for me while I went in for what I told them should be no more than a few minutes. I had my item within 1 minute and then waited for 10 for Fredrick to type slow, chit chat (not while working or waiting for the computer to process) and then help people who were behind me. read more

Don't shop here if you want to be treated with respect. I needed to purchase a fram tough guard oil filter for my car. I physically went to the store to buy it and didn't find it. I check another auto parts store and they didn't carry it either. I found that I could order it online, but if I wanted to pick it up at the store, I would have to go to the store or order over the phone. I phone the store located at 7448 foothill blvd in Tujunga. It was today, Saturday August 8th at 3:30pm when that call was abruptly ended. I started off telling the guy who answered, Ron, that I couldn't order online, so could he order it for me. He asked what kind of car. I told him that I had the part number I wanted to order. He still wanted the car information. He started telling me that there were others for sale. Why did I want to order that one. He even asked a stupid question. Did I want that one cuz it had a black tip? What?? I was getting frustrated with him. I told him I wanted it because it was for higher mileage and I was running synthetic oil. He kept asking stupid questions. How did I know that it fits? I then told him, Do you not want to order it for me? He got all bent out of shape. I just told him forget it, I would go elsewhere. He hung up on me before I finished talking. What kind of customer service is that when they won't honor customers requests? I think he needs fired. He's rude and has no clue what customer service is. I always buy my auto parts from Auto Zone, but with that bad experience, I'll most likely take my business elsewhere. What a shame. One bad apple ruins it for everyone. read more

This place is just ok. Within walking distance of my home, however some of the employees are idiots. Even worse at least one is a grumpy, heavy set, elderly Armenian male who doesn't seem to like working there. Drove by there today on my way from church and saw that hefty man standing near the trash can smoking. That's what inspired me to write a review. Most of the guys there are young. They may pretend to know about cars, may give the wrong info off head, but will always check with the handy dandy computer. But Chubby on the other hand will not. In fact; once he told me "I don't know, consult our owners manual if you want answers!". I couldn't believe it. I was shocked. I've never had an autozone employee tell me to consult my manual instead of just looking the part up using the stores computer. Lazy bastard! I sent an email to corporate-they never responded. I guess they don't care about customer satisfaction. Oh well. I moved my hard earned money to Oriely's down the street. I've never had a problem there. There is one autozone employee at this location that you can always depend on. Older Hispanic male. Short, crooked smile. I'll think of his name and update the review with it later. If you want answers, help, or actual results from the employee then your best bet is to go in morning time which seems to be his regular shift. BUYER BEWARE! Nothing Like Bait and Switch! Don't get me wrong, the employees at this location do a good job of helping their customers. However, the Autozone corporate philosophy of alienating people who come in ready to buy products is astounding. Today I went to purchase motor oil and a filter for my Nissan and was told that there was "a special"; the oil I wanted was discounted and came with an STP oil filter. YAY, what could be better? Not so fast! When I went to purchase the oil at the special price I was told that the only way to get the discounted price was I had to drive over to Burbank and buy it there because that is where the filter would be. Huh? So, I asked if I could just purchase the oil at the ADVERTISED discounted price and was told NO! Let me recap: Autozone advertises an oil and filter special at their locations but doesn't carry a basic oil filter for a Nissan and expects the customer drive an additional 12 miles to get the special discount---looks, smells and sounds like Bait and Switch to me. Autozone, from this point forward please keep your oil and filter and I'll take my money elsewhere. read more
