I had one of the worst service experiences I've ever had with this shop. I left my car with them yesterday for service and was clearly told it would be ready the same evening. Not only was the car not ready, but this is now the second day and I still have no car, no update, and no clear explanation of what is going on. There was zero communication from their side. I had to keep calling myself just to find out anything, and every time I either got vague answers or empty promises. If you tell a customer the car will be done the same day, you should respect that commitment or at least proactively inform them about delays. Instead, they just kept my car and acted like this is normal. What makes it even worse is that they did not actually complete the service they promised. I lost two days without my car, wasted time and plans, and still have no proper service done. This is completely unprofessional and shows a total lack of respect for the customer's time. I would not trust this place with my car again and I definitely do not recommend them to anyone who values their time, money, and basic communication. I get there and they had an estimate already for me to sign saying my estimate is $149. Then the service person said I need to see the text that was sent to you. It was no longer on my phone, checked my deleted texts, not there. I Explained that I no longer have the text and the service person (I think he may have been a trainee) said then we can't give you the 149 offer. It'll be $279. I said what are you talking about? Bait-and-switch through their own app, then they ignored me when I called it out. I brought my E300 to Cal Star Motors Mercedes-Benz for service, working with advisor Joel Cruz. They sent a multi-point inspection through their app recommending an engine air filter replacement with a repair estimate of $0.00. I approved exactly what they showed me. After the work was done, they suddenly decided $0.00 was "a mistake" and told me they'd either charge me or undo it by reinstalling my old filter. I told them clearly: do not put the old filter back until I speak with a manager. I was told someone was going upstairs to sort it out, then I got parked in the waiting area while they went ahead and reinstalled the old filter anyway, against my direct instruction. At the end of the day, they quoted me a price in their own system, didn't honor it, and ignored an explicit customer concern and request. That's not a glitch, that's how Joel and this shop chose to treat a customer who pushed back. I paid only what I actually owed and walked. Absolutely unacceptable experience at Calstar Mercedes-Benz in Glendale. I left my car for service and was given a loaner vehicle. No one reviewed the car with me at pickup--no inspection, no walkthrough, nothing. I was simply handed the key and told I was good to go. When I returned the vehicle, they suddenly claimed there was damage and tried to blame me for it. I explained clearly that I was never shown the car's condition before or after, so there is no proof I caused anything. Despite this, the manager insisted I should pay. Even worse, when I refused to take responsibility for something I did not do, the manager became aggressive and told me they would put a note on my account so I would not be allowed to get a loaner in the future. That felt like intimidation rather than customer service. This is extremely unprofessional and unfair. Customers should not be blamed for damage without proper documentation or inspection. The staff was rude, dismissive, and handled the situation very poorly. BEWARE!!! Worst experience. The crank on the car was slow. I paid the initial diagnostic fee of $285. The diagnosis they provided was a starter issue. However, to be sure they needed to do an $880 "extensive electrical check". After charging for that the next call was that it is the starter and that the part was $770. After they completed that work and $1800 later, my car will not start and now the reason is that it is the battery and it is another $700 to replace it. Maybe it was the battery all a long...but I will not go back to CalStar Motots ever. And the check engine light is also on and it was not on before... My recommendation is go to a mechanic who you trust. It is not Calstar! read more

Shady practices! I just got a pre-owned '23 GLS from a non-MB dealer. The Mercedes Me account (which someone can use to track the location of your car) was still attached to the prior owner. I've read that any dealer can remove the old account and add mine and that it's a quick, free service. So I took it to Calstar. The snappy, rude receptionist there clearly didn't feel like being bothered with me. So she said it would take an hour, involve soooooo much labor, and COST $300!!!! She even got someone in an office to back up her story. Not convinced, I called Keyes in Van Nuys. The receptionist there said over the phone that it would take 5 minutes and that I could bring my car right in. Sure enough, I drove to Keyes, the receptionist did the teeniest bit of typing on her computer, and boom, the old owner was cleared out...FOR FREE!! So because Calstar wanted to be shady and price gouge me for a FREE service, they just lost a customer for life. Stay as far away from this dealer as possible. They are clearly dishonest. read more

Walking into the CalStar Mercedes in Glendale on a recent Monday morning, I had no intention of driving off the lot with a brand new GLC 300, but, that's exactly what I did. I was more in window-shopping mode, thinking I'd just check out the deals, if any, being offered. Fortunately, for me, the first face I saw belonged to Hamlet Karapetian, who turned out to be a no-nonsense, straight-forward salesman. I'm reluctant to refer to him as a salesman, because he simply, calmly presented me my options. In minutes, I agreed to a two year lease, with what I considered an excellent deal with no down payment and no money upfront. I was then handed off to Art Avetyan, who escorted me on my test drive, and later facilitated the rest of the transaction. Art went above-and-beyond, and even ended up coming to my house to pick up the title for my old Lincoln, which I decided to trade-in. And, finally, my experience at CalStar was concluded with Billy Wu, the Finance Director, who was both amiable and professional. There was no attempt to upsell me on questionable options that I had no interest in. The only negative thing I can say is that the whole process took.a long time, about six hours in all. Terrible customer service. I took my friend there to check out a few SUVs. Walk around for a while in the showroom and nobody offered to help us. I finally approached a couple of guys in MB polo shirts in the rear showroom who were chitchatting in Armenian. They seemed put off that I interrupted their conversation. I told them what we were looking small to medium SUVs and one guy responded by saying we have no E class and C class. And that was it. No offer to further assist us. As we walk around and looked at the cars in the showroom he made no effort to provide any info. I saw a GLB and it was cheaper than what I had expected and I said "only $50k?!"; he very sarcastically said "yeah, oonnly $50k" as if saying "that's more than you can afford". Then I was trying to check out the EQS SUV in the showroom since I was interest in one for myself; but it was locked. Once again the guy just stood there and looked at me without offering to unlock the door for me to look inside. I guess I should have parked my $170k merc in front of the showroom or wore a bunch of gold jewelry and a Rolex. We left in disgust and won't be returning. I rather go to Rusnak in Arcadia where I'd be treated with more respect even if I walk in with flip flops. MB USA needs to know that these people are destroying the Mercedes' prestige. read more

Thanks to Daniel Robles at service for taking care of us and our 2015 GLA. We made an appointment for Service A and if customers know, Benz services aren't cheap. Service A was over $200. Thanks to Calstar (under new management), they sent me a nice coupon for $129 for Service A. Originally they charged us $199 or so for the service and after emailing Daniel and verifying the coupon, he was able to refund some money back into our account for the coupon, total $129 for the Service A. The GLA drives better, thanks to Daniel and the service department for taking care of our family. Note: as they always do, Calstar can always hire an Uber/Lyft for you after you drop off the car for service to get you home, luckily we don't live too far from Calstar.
