As of today April 21,2023 approximately around 8PM a young gentleman help me with brake pad after I was done shopping around I had told the young gentleman I was a Vet short for Veteran. He had reach out too his assistance too input code, the white gentleman ask for military identification too show proof and I show him my DL with Veteran Stamp on the DL said it wasn't approved by him and made excuses too the young gentleman that other employee were getting in trouble. That uneducated white young man need proper training and educated Never ever in my life hear employee from autozone made excuses. I always shop at autozone here there too save money on auto parts. Went to buy brake pads. The representative looks up the parts and they are in stock. Long story short. The employee spots that the brakes don't have the hardware kit that they are supposed to have. That was a great spot. This is where it upsets me. He goes to the "back" to see if they are somewhere else. He comes back and tells me he took them from another box. Tells me it's from the same "dg series" it'll fit. I asked if he was sure. With confidence he says ya it's generic. I get home look at the parts. And they won't fit( abutment clips). I end up taking them back returned my whole order. Point is.... if you don't have the parts or they aren't complete don't lie to your customer. These parts are important and could cause harm to your vehicle if used improperly. read more

I like the people at the counter. They have a few needed products.. but when I go to the AutoZone website.. they want me to order everything via the internet! NO WAY! I can usually get a better price and SAME DAY or NEXT DAY shipping via Amazon. This is supposed to be brick 'n mortar retail outlet. But if they don't have it in stock.. then they lose my business. Poor customer service .called the store put me hold for so long that i drove 4 blocks after being passed to another sales lady she was kind but not knowledgeable about the part i wanted for about 5 minutes. The manager shows up not helpful rude and short tempered Told me to go to pep boys if i don't like auto zone. Went to pep boys part was $49 cheaper I even called auto zone district office and shared my concern nobody from the district office has called me .it has been 2 weeks. Came in last night needing to have my battery swapped for a new one, and they were super busy. I could tell they were short-staffed and kinda slammed and at first I thought I'd have to come back another day. But the manager made a point to fit me in that night and I didn't even have to wait. Great example of people working well under pressure with a "just do it" attitude. Stoked I didn't have to go back another day. Only gave 4 stars because customer service could have been more upbeat and positive. I know it can be hard to keep a poker face at the end of a hard day, but after a long day of my own problems I'd rather not feel anyone else's tension. read more

Came in here for a battery and alternator diagnostic check, which was free. I was greeted and someone came out to check the car immediately. The technician was very helpful and informative and walked me through the diagnostics. I had literally just done the same thing 10 minutes before at the AutoZone location on Oceanside Blvd and College Blvd. After waiting outside for 15 minutes after being told someone would come out and check the battery for me, I just left and came to this location in San Marcos. Don't make the mistake of doing business here. First off, this place is an absolute dump in the crappiest of areas. Regardless, they carry your everyday auto parts. I come in asking for some SAE30/10W30 lawn mower oil, ask the stock guy in the back who is seemingly somewhat knowledgeable and leave with mineral oil for vintage cars. Ahem. I go home with what I guessed was the proper oil, poured it in, and sweet relief: the mower starts without a hiccup. Proceedingly, it began spitting out massive amounts of smoke, now what I presume to be oily unburnt sooty smoke. Near the end of mowing, I was actually worried for my well being and safety. I mean this mower was producing probably more smoke than anything but a top fuel dragster and making a racket near the engine blade portion. Genuinely frightening when you consider all the noted tragic maiming and potential for horrific catastrophe lawn mowers possess. I had to hand it off to a family member because of my distrust and worryingly frightened state. Anyway I go back and the tub of lard working the counter with braces couldn't have lied more blatantly to my face. And I was called rude by the manager for calling out the guy who lied to my face in front of my father's. This business operates at a laughably shameful level of honesty and transparency. Instead of going here I'd hit those two more lights and go the extra 200 feet to O'reily, which is at the least a trustworthy establishment. Autozone is closer, but I'm not making the same mistake of going there again!!! read more

Came here for some spark plugs which they unfortunately didn't have, but Fabian, the assistant store manager was able to contact another store nearby to check if they had the spark plugs we needed, which they did so that was great. He also was nice enough to provide us with advice and important information in regards to the spark plugs. It's always nice coming across such friendly and genuine people like Fabian who show an interest in helping others. He's definitely your guy if you have any questions at this location. read more

I called them an hour before going there to find out if they had Wix Air filter. Sales person told me they have it in stock after I provided more details about my car and spelled the brand name. When I arrived he said they don't have such brand. So, I was provided with false information and salesperson told me he doesn't know who responded to my phone call and he could not call manager. This is my local AutoZone. I usually come here to get only one thing every 5,000 or so miles; which is Techron Concentrate Plus Fuel System Cleaner. The employees are nice and professional. I just don't like it when the push to sell the Lucas fuel cleaner since it is always on special. read more

Given that my "commented" experience occur during their slow business hour, I had their assistant manager Juan Castorena help installed my battery and at the same time performed a car alternator and starter check on my Daewoo sedan. I walked into the store wanting help with a fuel hose for my expedition and although there were 4 guys in there, and only one was occupied with a customer, no one greeted me nor asked if I needed help. I was totally ignored and discriminated against because I am a woman. They answered phone calls in Spanish, went out of their way to not even acknowledge me. I am a hispanic female, although I do not look hispanic. I spoke up and asked for help. Reluctantly, someone with a bad attitude said he couldn't help me. I would have to bring hose in. I asked if he could go outside and look at it with me. He said no. He wouldn't know the size. Wow! I left store and went to O'Reilly Auto parts on 255 S. Rancho Santa Fe. Totally different experience. Gabriel at O'Reilly was not only knowledgeable, helpful and friendly but was able to look at the hose in my car and know exactly the size I needed. These guys at O'Reilly know their stuff. Auto Zone employees are totally incompetent and need Diversity Training in order to better serve their diverse customer base....i.e....women. Everyone I know will hear my story because I felt very discriminated against based on my gender and apparent race. Shame on them!! read more

Amazing! Miguel (spelling?) is the best! I called to see if they had a battery for my BMW...Tom answered the phone and looked it up quickly and they had a few in stock. I forgot to ask if they could put it in the car and hook it up for me. So I called back Miguel answered and told me yes as long as it didn't take more then 15 mins. Perfect! I showed up and asked for Miguel he came over politely and joked with me for a bit. He put the battery in and was very helpful with any questions that I had. I tried to tip him before he walked away but they can't take tips. So therefor I will always take my business to him and recommend him to everyone. Great experience! read more

Awesome customer service! I came into buy an air filter and a headlight. Miguel came over quickly and helped me find the right products. When I mentioned I would be changing the items myself, he offered to help me in the parking lot. I've always changed these items myself, but it was a new car and I didn't really have the time to figure out how to do it myself. Within 20 minutes, I was in and out with a fresh air filter and two headlights! I almost wanted to give 4 stars because the product books on display appeared to be outdated and I was unable to find what I was looking for on my own. As a woman, I pride myself on being mildly knowledgeable and capable of taking care of basic maintenance items on my car. In the end, I was quite grateful for needing his help and it worked out wonderfully! read more

Not in the best areas but they will have everything you need to keep your car running each time you start it up. Some of the workers will not be able to answer all your car repair questions though, so they run to ask their manager which could be annoying if you are in a hurry. read more

Less than a year ago I bought a new battery at this location and had the employee install it. Fast forward to this morning, I go to start my car and the lights go on but nothing happens then they shut off, I knew there was no way it could be my battery since it was new and feared it had to be my alternator, so I pop the hood and find that the battery terminal is loose. I don't have the tool to tighten it but I was able to wiggle it into a certain place and my car started fine. I made it to work and decided to deal with the issue afterwards. First, i forgot where I had gotten my battery but always go to o Reilly's for my car needs so I went there, they told me to see if I could find the receipt, sure enough I did and we find out it was auto zone. The guy checks out my car and says the battery was installed improperly and that it was over-tightened during installation and became lose and can't be tightened again, so I call autozone and ask them if they can fix/replace it because I have warranty, and the employee who installed it made a mistake. I was told very rudely by whoever answered the phone at 4:59pm that if I wanted my battery installed correctly I should have gone to a shop and paid $80 to get it done rather then taking autozone up on the free installation. He basically told me to kick rocks even though I had paid extra for warranty and it was just a battery terminal, not an expensive part, if I were a manager I would want to make right my employees mistake and offer the part AT LEAST at a discounted price etc. instead I was told it wasn't his problem and I should've gone elsewhere. I found a close by auto shop and they took 5 minutes to tell me there was a small red circular foam piece underneath the terminal, causing it to loosen and not re-tighten. They removed the piece, free of charge and tightened the terminal, now my car is working as it should. They did this for free but I shot a $20 at him anyways for being kind and helping me out with such a small issue. If anyone wants good customer service I suggest they go to North Park Auto Repair on 30th street in North Park San Diego, and leave autozone and their terrible customer service at this location alone. Came into this store because my car wouldn't start this morning. They checked and found that the battery that I had purchased previously was defective but was still under warranty. The guy took a quick look under the hood and told me that I'll have to swap it out myself because he's too busy helping other customers that will be coming in. What? They changed it out for me when I purchased it originally. Just because he's not making any money off of me this time, he didn't want to do the work. What kind of customer service is that? In the evening, I had placed an AutoZone.com order for a store pickup. A couple of hours later, I received an "Order Ready for Pickup" email. The next day afternoon, there was at least a 20 minutes wait for a simple order pickup. Finally, a parts person helped, looked in a backroom, and informed that the items are out-of-stock. August 4, 2016, 6:03 p.m., AutoZone.com sends an "Order Confirmation" email. Same day, 7:58 p.m., AutoZone.com sends an "Order Ready For Pickup" email. August 5, 2016, 2:40 p.m., I arrived at the San Marcos AutoZone for the online order pickup. After a male parts person finished with a customer before me, I announced, "I have an online order pickup". However, he apologized, excused himself, and quickly left. Another male parts person was busy with a customer with parts and, later, shelf items, during which time I again announced, "I have an online order pickup". There was no acknowledgement. Fifteen minutes later, a woman employee, apparently a cashier, appeared and I again mentioned, "I have an online order pickup; I've been waiting". Again there was no response except a discussion with the busy parts person. A couple of minutes later, I repeated to the woman employee, "Online order pickup; I've been waiting a long time". Finally, the first parts person re-appeared, looked into the online order, looked in a back room, and said the items are out-of-stock. Gee, AutoZone.com should not have sent that "Order Ready for Pickup" email. Recalling, Home Depot, Lowe's, and Walmart brick & mortars are Very Good to Excellent in online order pickup service, I deeply question whether an AutoZone brick & mortar is ready for online order fulfillment, ready for Prime Time. In resolution, I simply ordered the items and a few additional items at Walmart.com and had free delivery to my home, remedying this AutoZone online order hassle. read more

I called them based on ratings. The woman who answered the phone was very nice and quoted me the price of a new battery. She said they could put it in for free. I immediately went to the store and a young man told me to park my car in front. I did that and he was not satisfied with the place I parked and wanted me to move my car over two spaces. It seems he did not want to walk the WIDTH of two cars. He had a hand held device to test the battery so it was not about having to be close to an outlet or anything. He decided he could sell me the battery but not put it in because the connection needed to be replaced and they don't do that. I thought he was very LAZY and not at all interested in the business he works for. Should have gotten his name but I didn't. I would not recommend this place at all!!!! read more
