    I went to the wrong location and was late for my FREE tire rotation, but Alejandro was chill and I was able to get in & out around 30 mins which I appreciated. What I didn't appreciate was I asked for the tires to be filled to 42 and they filled them up to 35. All the tires were inflated to a different number which drives me crazy. Had to remind myself they have comfy chairs, bathrooms, and free wi-fi. You also can't beat FREE.

    Had a flat and needed a repair or was going to change the front two of the price was right. Ended up getting two new in front but price was more than a couple of other spots but they had tires in stock. Had towed over already so I went with them. They did get it done in a good time so I am pleased. Last time coming to this location was bad, bad, bad as far as the front of store customer service. I vowed never to come back but gave them another shot and it went pretty well. This was the only location I have had issues at but seems the personal is different and I was treated very well. Clean store and seems to be organized.

    Like shockingly nice. This morning I got in my car and it said flat tire. I thought maybe the tire was just low on air, nothing massive. Got to work and saw the nail. I always go to discount tire but usually the one in Escondido but I work in Vista. This one was the closest anyway I get there. Everybody is super nice. They checked my tire, sprayed some water on the tire and yep it's got a leak. The guy tells me 6:20 PM and I was out of there at exactly 620. FREE, 2 nails... Everyone in there was really nice even the customers. The bathrooms are clean. The place is immaculate. This is going to be my new place. I'm never going to Escondido again.

When I purchased new tires back in November, they also pointed out wear and tear on my control arms, which I appreciated since my car was still under warranty. I took it to Honda for a second opinion and repair. My main concern is the lack of documentation. Each time I've come in for a tire rotation, I haven't been given any paperwork confirming the service was completed. As a customer, that's important--not just for tracking maintenance, but also in case any issues ever come up down the line. Since they are registered with the California Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR), I would expect consistent invoices or service records for every visit. It would also be reassuring if they followed up on previously identified issues, like checking whether the control arm concern had been addressed. Overall, they've been a reliable shop for us, but improving communication and providing proper documentation would go a long way.

    BAIT & SWITCH! DO NOT GO HERE! I called for an estimate on a oil change, giving the specific year,…read moremake, and model (there is only 1 engine type), and the mechanic looked it up and said it would be ~$75 all in (labor, recycling, etc). I verified that it would need synthetic oil. Less than 10 mins later, I was there and spoke to the same mechanic who called me by name. After the oil change, the final invoice was $95 all in and the mechanic said it was because it needed "full" synthetic. Since he had looked it up, and that there is only 1 engine type for the year, make, and model, it is strange that the oil type would change, and if so, why didn't he tell me when I arrived? Had I known, I would have gone somewhere else. ADDITIONALLY, the mechanic recommended services at 15K miles (only in another 3,873 miles!!!) , that the car with only ~11K miles on it, needed 1) an alignment check (didn't say based on what), 2) brake fluid change, 3) differential service with fluid change, 4) clutch fluid change, for a total of $334. I expressed doubt, and he turned the screen towards me and it appeared it was not from the make of vehicle company, but their own software. Even though I don't know much about cars, this sounded crazy to me for a low-mileage ~3 year old car. Indeed, I later checked the maintenance manual and it says that the next recommended is at 18K miles (not 15K), and is only an oil change+tire rotation. The manufacturer's recommendations for what Firestone recommended are: 1) alignment check - no recommendations, from my reading you do not need to have your alignment checked unless your car is pulling from straight, or was in a front-end accident, 2) brake fluid change at 30K miles, 3) differential fluid change at 60K miles, 4) clutch - inspection only at 12K, 24K miles. So as you can see, this Firestone branch is clearly is trying to get less knowledgeable customers (I am a woman who doesn't know much about cars) to get unnecessary maintenance.

They even scratched one that wasn't a problem! They are so unprofessional, I had never taken my car out of the dealer and the first time I do they scratch my rims terribly. Not only did they scratch a rim that wasn't supposed to be touched because that wasn't where the flat tire was, they also messed up the lock on my tire. They messed it up so bad , that I went back to the dealer and they had trouble taking it off. They also tried to scam me with prices, they are so expensive. First, they said over the phone while a male coworker was talking after letting them know the size of the tire I need that it would be around 65 dollars when I get there a woman , they say 85 and all of sudden, my coworker who is a male comes along , it is 75. They change up their prices so so much. They all seem so sketch , they are very sketchy with their work and how they handle their business. Also , the older man was very very rude, he was scolding at me for calling at like 7 am because they ACTUALLY open at 7:30 am and not 6:30 am like it says on here and on google maps. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM!! If you are a girl , you will probably get scammed with prices just like the other girl got scammed with the 700 tires and also they wanted to charge me over 180 for a used tire that doesn't cost that online and for breaking a lock on my tire , ruining and scratching my rims and one lock. After an hour, the service manager recommended two front tires, a brake fluid exchange, a coolant flush, and an air filter package. Despite the mileage on the car, I agreed to the additional work, essentially rewarding their upsell with several hundred dollars in extra business. The reward for my cooperation was total neglect. Between 10:00 AM and 11:00 AM, I watched my RAV4 sit untouched in the service bay. At 11:00 AM, the manager told me it would be "another hour." I reluctantly waited, only to find my car still aloft at noon--no tires mounted and no fluids changed. It was only after I voiced my frustration that the mechanics finally began to work. They seemed far more interested in hitting their vape sticks and jamming to blaring industrial music than completing a job for a waiting customer. I finally got my keys back 3.5 hours later. When I questioned the delay, the manager claimed that two tires and fluid exchanges is a "three-hour job." As someone who grew up working on cars with my Dad, I know that is absolute nonsense. In a professional shop with the right equipment, that work does not take three hours--unless, of course, the staff is lollygagging at the pace of a snail pulling a bobsled. What is the purpose of a 9:00 AM appointment if the vehicle is ignored for the first two hours of that window? I was billed the most, yet served last. The unprofessional atmosphere and the "distracted" nature of the technicians also make me question if safety-critical tasks, like my brake fluid and tire mounting, were even performed with the necessary precision. I have been a loyal customer of Pep Boys for years, but the appalling attitude and lack of work ethic at this San Marcos location has me rethinking that loyalty. You didn't just lose my afternoon; you've likely lost a long-time customer.
