Came in the other day because I had issue with a car part. My side mirror popped off and I accidentally ordered the wrong one. I am not a car person at all so i had no idea where to start, but I was hoping to get some assistance from someone who KNOWS some car things at this AutoZone. Anyway, went up to the cashier one morning who immediately gave me a dirty look. Like i offended him for just walking into the store. I said I had a question, explained my situation, and showed him the picture I had and asked if he was able to help and look at it. Guy said "no" rudely. Okay...my bad? I understand if they're not trained or specialized to look at the actual car, but bro just flat out said "no we don't do that." Wow such amazing customer service that was. I said sorry. Then asked if he had the part. He gave attitude, said no, and didn't even bother looking anything up on the computer. I also tried to return the wrong mirror that I had bought. I ordered it and had it shipped from the AutoZone from Streamwood, but I have called that location and they said it could be returned at any AutoZone location. Well guess that man only knows one word because he said No. Didn't even check anything on the computer or ask anyone, just condescendingly said we can't return it because they don't have the receipt on this locations computer (i literally had the receipt in my hand but ok). Well guess what I went to another AutoZone in Lisle and I successfully returned it with no issues! so I guess he flat out lied to me. I had an unexpected check engine light and wanted a quick diagnostic check. The AutoZone ads said they would run a diagnostic and help you figure out what's wrong. But when I arrived there was only one employee with a half dozen customers. I asked about a diagnostic and was handed the reading unit. I had NO IDEA of the location of the diagnostic port and all he could tell me was it's near the steering wheel. I pulled out my owners manual, which doesn't even mention the port, and then I looked it up on Google and YouTube, but nothing matched up. I was laying on the floor, under the dashboard, taking off panels and pulling anything I could, but I simply could not find the port. I finally gave up and returned the useless reader. I'll just have to go somewhere that has someone who can help. It wasn't the employee's fault, he was by himself. But with as much traffic as they had on a Sunday afternoon, why didn't they have at least TWO employees working? read more

Went in to have diagnostics ran on my vehicle after the check engine light came on. I went to pepboys down the street first but was quoted $110 to look at it. Autozone had no line and Angel came out to check the codes. He told me I could wait outside in the car with my daughter since it was snowing, he came back a minute later and we had discovered the gas cap had been left off at the dealership (easy fix for me) and they did not charge me anything! I would def recommend stopping by for any car needs. read more

So, disclaimer - as a female, I am leery of taking care of "car stuff" by myself because I know that sometimes car guys try to take advantage of us, or assume we don't know what we are doing so they can upsell or rip us off. Not so at this Auto Zone. Went by to have a battery check run on my car as it was having trouble starting. Very helpful and nice staff; ask for Hugo if you go - he really helped a lot, explained what he was doing on the battery test, and went out of his way to take care of my car. I went back 2 days later to actually buy a battery from him. I recommend this place! read more

I typically never take the time to write reviews but had to share the fantastic customer service experience I had today. Heading down Roosevelt Rd to get an oil change when my engine temp control light goes off and smoke is coming out of the hood of my minivan! I pull into the nearest parking lot and turn the van off, call for a family member to pick me up and begin plans of where to tow my vehicle. Instead of making calls in the hot sun, I step into the AutoZone store (where I'm parked) and Zack asks if there is anything I need. I explained my situation (just so they didn't wonder why I was hanging out in the store for no apparent reason) and he springs into action. He walks out to take a look at what's going on, explains in simpleton terms what the problem is, helps me buy the inexpensive parts I need and then fixes it for me!! No charge for labor and the parts are all under $20! I will still take it to my mechanic to take a look for some additional issues (per Zack's recommendation) but avoided tow fees and hassle and truly peace of mind. He was kind, empathetic, knowledgeable and saved the day! Above and beyond customer service - so thankful!! Couldn't have picked a better place to pull over :). read more

I have used this AutoZone on several occasions. I can honestly say that they have saved me over a thousand bucks in the last two years. I've used AutoZone at many locations for over twenty years but this was the first location that told me about their tool rental program. Sometimes the thing that keeps you from doing simple repairs is not just know-how (but you can get THAT via UTUBE ) but also you just don't have the tools you need. Guess what(as of this date) AutoZone will "Rent" you the tools you need. The quotation marks around "Rent" basically mean "Deposit" As in when you bring the tool back they refund your "rent"... Totally cool. Now for the best part, everybody I've dealt with at this site gets an A++++ Friendly, Helpful, and knowledgeable read more

AutoZone in Wheaton is my new go-to place for auto repair advice and parts. Hunter, Assistant Store Manager, is AWESOME. Words to describe him are knowledgeable (former mechanic), professional, patient, generous with his advice - and terrific person)!!! I've been in the store 3 times in the last few weeks and each time, he has made himself available to me to answer questions and to also pull up pricing for parts/print for me. He is a guy I know I can trust and would not hesitate to send anyone to him for parts or advice. Another good way to describe Hunter is that he is like a family member who you trust to ask for car advice - knowing that he is out to give you the "straight deal" - and won't tell you anything that is not in your best interest. I went into AutoZone on 7/7, seeking assistance with ordering a piece of replacement glass for a side mirror. I asked a woman in the store for help, and she was incredibly rude and unhelpful. I explained that it was my mother's car and I was unfamiliar with it. Instead of explaining where to find information or helping me out, she told me I "better figure it out" and dismissed me. I left the store and went to a local mechanic instead. I will not be returning to AutoZone. read more

A great place to buy car parts from. They care for giving you the right part the 1st time.

I've been shopping at this autozone for a few years now and after this experience that I will explain I am never going there or to another autozone again. First off this location is very short staffed. I've never seen more than 2 people working in the whole store and half the time they are very unprofessional in the way they communicate with customers. The last straw was when I bought a $35 item that I later returned that day. It has been almost a month since I've returned the item and I still have not been refunded. When I called the store to try and straighten this out the lady very gladly said they do not handle that in store and gave me another number. I called the number which directed me to some call center in God knows where. I could barely understand the lady on the phone and she essentially told me because "so much time has passed" that they wouldn't be able to find the records of the transaction. Pretty sure this is some kind of scheme they are running and more than likely illegal. They've lost my business forever as well as all my mechanic friends. If you are reading this review I advise not shopping at autozone. read more

On a HORRIBLE day when our garage door broken so we couldn't get the car out until we got help from a garage door company, we found out our car battery was dead. Add to that a sprained wrist and I was done with that day. In the cold with the snow starting, we headed to Auto Zone to get a new battery. They were so kind and quick. They got the battery replaced in minutes and we got a great battery for a wonderful price. They also offer discounts (like ones for seniors) so the price was even better. I wish I could remember the name of the young guy who helped us, but I will say that every single person who worked there that we encountered was polite and cheerful and talkative (not in a bad way). As a woman who only knows the basics of car repair, stores like this can sometimes make you feel intimidated. Auto Zone is the complete opposite of that kind of store. The workers are polite, the store is super clean and well-lit, and they don't speak to you in patronizing tones. Great business! read more
