Nick, the OT at Carnahan, gaslighted me. Apparently, he's second in charge after the owner of…read moreCarnahan. After giving me a grip test, which caused me severe pain the next day, he saw me and while "treating" me told me "the reason you're not healing is because of your attitude." He proceeded to make light of my mental health illness and speak condescendingly to me regarding it. Not a speck of professionalism and ridicules you to excuse his lack of expertise. There are people who talk about you behind your back, and then there's Nick.

Today was to be my first PT. My appt was for 8:00am. I was told to arrive by 7:45. I was there by…read more7:40. I feeled the paperwork out. Then sat down to wait. In the paperwork one of the rules had to do with being on time, and if I was late, I could lose my slot. At 8:13 I approached the desk and informed the receptionist that I would need to reschedule, and that my time is just as important as theirs. I noticed two men taking at at station, and the girl said that one of them was my PT. I asked if it was the tall one with his hair in a knot. I then told I did not want him, and that I would taking anyone else. I was then put on a call list if someone was to cancel. About 1 hour later I get a call that they had an opening at 5:30 with someone else. I said I would be there. 2 hours later I get a call that the PT person at 5:30 did not take medicare. Apparently they only had 2 people who do the initial evaluation. She said that Andrew the man I didn't want would call me and see if what could be done. I politely refused and said I would go somewhere else. I am a 70year old women in pain and felt very disrespected. I was told that he was very busy and that was why he was late. If he had least came out and told me that he was running late, I would have waited. It is all about respect. It is common curtsey. I advise that in the future this company should counsel the people that work there to be aware of when and what time their clients are due in, and make contact with them if they are running late.

This is a great physical therapist to go to if you're in Nipomo and don't want to have to drive to…read moreSanta Maria or SLO to get quality care. I got referred for a round of sessions here to treat a problem I was having with a pain in my knee and a pain and tightness in my calf, and of course when I had the initial consultation I had to lay down my extensive history of scoliosis and back problems, and the multiple rounds of PT sessions I had already done at other places prior, and the physical therapist assessed that my back problems were probably an underlying factor for the symptoms in my extremities I was experiencing. So he crafted a PT regimen not only to address the symptoms directly but also to further address my back problems, and that was much appreciated. I believe this holistic approach to treating the current problem I was having was the right approach. By the end of the round of sessions, my knee pain was all cleared up and my calf was significantly improved, with no more pain but still a bit of tightness every so often. With the continuing at-home exercises and stretches I was given to address that, as well as a handy calf-stretcher heel-rocker piece of equipment they had which they taught me a few exercises for and that I subsequently found a reasonable approximation of to order off of Amazon, I believe I won't be having any serious issues with my calf anymore. I did do a round of sessions for my back pain here years ago, probably about a decade ago, and at the time they were in a smaller building and I honestly wasn't too impressed with the experience. But they have since moved to a larger location and hired more staff, and I was much more satisfied with the care I received this time.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but I felt this experience was important to share…read more My first visit mostly involved intake with the physical therapist and a short treatment on my hand, which seemed fine. During my second visit: * I only saw the PT briefly before being directed to a young assistant who was not a physical therapist. * The treatment room was extremely cramped with essentially no privacy between patients. * While using ultrasound on my finger joint, the assistant became distracted in a side conversation with another staff member. * The ultrasound wand was repeatedly left sitting in one place instead of being kept moving. * This caused a burning sensation in the joint. I understand ultrasound is normally kept moving during treatment, which is why this concerned me. * I moved the wand several times myself until I eventually asked her to stop as the discomfort was increasing. * I was also instructed to perform one of the exercises incorrectly. When I mentioned the ultrasound issue to the PT on my way out, the concern did not appear to be taken seriously. When I later called to cancel my remaining appointments, I had to leave multiple voicemails during business hours and received no call back. After four attempts I finally reached the receptionist. Overall, in my experience this did not reflect the level of patient attention or professionalism I expect from a physical therapy clinic. I'm sharing this feedback in hopes it helps improve patient care going forward. I have since switched to AG Physical Therapy, where experienced therapists provide focused, professional care.
