Finally a trustworthy mechanic shop in LA, and it's right down the block from me! I used to have a terribly old car and would show up every couple days for random work. They always gave me the lowest price and didn't even charge me a couple times. When I bought a newer car from carmax, they helped me inspect it and test drove it with me! Love these guys! read more

I went to Auto PHD for an oil change about a week ago, Helio also helped me to check my car for other problems. My husband went there a few weeks ago to check out his tyres, the gentleman at the workshop was very professional and didn't charge him as there was nothing wrong. So when it was time to have my oil changed, hubby suggested I go there and it was the best choice ever! I called ahead and they were incredibly professional, I was in and out within 45 minutes. He even checked my battery, topped up my fluid, checked my tyres! I cannot recommend this place enough. To top it off, I had a voucher for 55 dollars, but when I got there, he mentioned that the voucher was for a different kind of car and that my car's oil change was less, so I paid less! How many times do you get to see such honesty in people? Plus, even though I'm a woman, he didn't make me feel like I didn't know what I was talking about. Great service! I usually dont write reviews unless something is amazing or really terrible and these guys are GREAT...I dont know too much about my car and when I first got my Honda (I got it used) it wasnt in the best shape. It made noises and I had these "check engine" lights come up on the dash pretty frequently. Going to the dealership was just too expensive so when a friend suggested Auto PHD i thought i would give them a shot. They were excellent! They explained everything that was wrong immediately and knew their stuff! And had it all fixed pretty quick! I didnt have to wait and best of all they are very reasonable with pricing. Honest, super nice and know exactly what they are doing. Anytime I have even the slightest concern i take my car in and they take care of it right away. Cant go wrong! read more

Just had an excellent first-time experience at Auto PhD. They did a major tune up to correct my poor, jerky acceleration (new spark plugs, wires, fuel filter etc.) at a very reasonable price. The repair guy, Feridun, was meticulous as a surgeon while he worked. He also carefully inspected every part of the car for problems and explained his findings, but didn't try to upsell me on any other services. I will definitely return for future work! read more

By far--the best auto repair shop in town! I got an estimate from my BMW dealer for a replacement battery and starter. Since their estimate was highway robbery, my 'go to' body shop ( Oates Auto Body-next door to Auto PhD) recommended these guys. Their prices for BMW parts and labor was 1/4 of the price quoted by the dealer. Since then, I go there for all of my repairs! They are honest, reliable and reasonably priced. They won't repair until they check in with you first and they return all old parts to you! And--your car is always ready ( sometimes sooner) at the time they say it will be ready! Also, they are polite and respectful and will help you prioritize repairs and offer you alternatives to pricey repairs to work within your budget if you can't get everything fixed at one time. read more

I came here a year ago by accident and they helped us out with my mom's Volkswagen. We were so impressed with the great customer service that we wanted to come back to fix our other two cars but we forgot where it was located. This week I found Auto PHD again and Elio remembered us from a year ago and gladly helped us with my squealing brakes. Also I went to different places trying to get mechanics to figure out what was wrong with my car since it was shaking in the mornings almost like it was gonna turn off but none of them knew what was going on especially because my car didn't give us any codes. Elio from Auto PHD figured out my air valve was the problem and we now know what needs fixing. Their prices are fair and they really know what they are doing. I definitely recommend people experiencing problems with their car to come here and get it fixed. They never use cheap materials so you are gonna get the best parts with the best quality so your car is guaranteed to work and will not give you any more problems in a long long time. My dad is a mechanic on the east coast so I have never had to go to an actual mechanic shop before. Needless to say, I was super nervous going into this, completely prepared to be hit with a massive bill and to have to call my dad to make sure I wasn't being ripped off. Man was pleasantly surprised! I was helped right away, they were incredibly kind and patient with me. They figured out what was wrong with my car and had it fixed in 30 min. When the bill came I was 100% sure I had misheard him. There was no way my total was as low as that. I asked him if he was sure I wanted to make sure I paid him a fair total and he insisted that it was fair. I called my dad on the way home to give him an update and he agreed with everything that was done. This shop made me feel like I was back at my dad's garage, which lets me honest, I did not expect to find in LA. This is the only shop I will go to as long as I live in here. read more

Way cheaper than other places AND they actually do great work...yes, it's next to a No-Tell-Motel, and on a section of Adams that is well, ghetto, so know that going in...that said I'm sure the location plays into why they can keep their costs down.
