Brunch group tried this out today. We put them through their paces as we had 12 in attendance. Definitely thumbs up! Luckily it wasn't too crowded as we got the only 'big' table - (seated 8 plus the window bar seats). Amongst the group we had the Ronnie, Avalanche, Sleeping Giant, Rocky Mountain and the Snow Bunny. We're leaving town this afternoon, so we took the morning to explore this beautiful college town -- and we're so glad we did! We were craving something different from the usual breakfast, and that's when we found Avalanche. As huge crepe fans, once we read their story on the website, we knew this was the place to go! From the moment we walked in, one of the owners greeted us right away -- super friendly and chill. The space was clean, the music was great, and the Montana-inspired decor and artwork really told their story and created such a welcoming vibe. Now, let's talk about the crepes! I ordered The Snow Bunny, and the very first bite brought instant comfort -- exactly what I needed to start the day. My husband ordered The Ronnie, and it was incredible. The blend of hash browns, chorizo, and eggs was perfectly balanced -- none of the ingredients overpowered the others -- and every bite was a delicious harmony. Super friendly staff and the crepes are excellent!! I love that they have GLUTEN FREE crepe options! I got a savoy crepe (Ruger with ham and Swiss) and also a sweet one (Snowbunny). Everything was delicious! I ordered an iced matcha and my husband ordered an iced coffee. Honestly the drinks were not great. But this place is not known for their coffee, they are known for their crepes so based only on the food, they get 5-stars! read more

My wife and I came here with my brother while he was in town; he was hooked on the idea at the first mention of the name "Avalanche Crepes." We came early on Sunday morning before a bit of a rush. The decor and setup is lovely, very cozy. He and I both ordered the Avalanche, liking the sound of everything in a traditional American breakfast, and figuring the eponymous dish must be good. My wife went for the Missoula and added bacon. The crepes came out one at a time 5-10 minutes later--very quick, though it helped we were the only customers there. The Avalanche was quite tasty. Eggs, bacon, cheese, jalapenos, and all covered in gravy. I can't complain: the food was well-seasoned and it was a good portion size. That said, I was hoping it would stand out just a bit more. Tasty, but not mind-blowing. My wife's came out smelling fantastic. Tomato, mozzarella, bacon, pesto, and a balsamic reduction on top. Inside me there are two wolves: one who likes low-brow classic "meat-and-potato" american foods like bacon, eggs, and gravy, and one who prefers high-class pretentious foods like a nice caprese in a crepe. And in this case, the snobby wolf wins out. The pesto and balsamic was so damn good. I think I would add a couple eggs in it next time to up the protein, but overall we were very satisfied and will likely be back. read more

Most of the time their crepes are very greasy/oily! I hate that part of the meal! However, they are good. I don't think they're really educated on gluten-free cross contamination because I've seen them do it by not cleaning the cooking plate off or spatula etc before making gluten free crepe. Short version: Oh hurray! Yum! Longer: Before 9am on a Sunday, my CCM kid and I were seeking breakfast, because he had call at 10am - i.e., a time constraint. One lone crepe warrior was holding down the fort, confidently and competently doing her best to serve the unusually high early morning demand of parents' weekend rush, so things got backed up. She set expectations for a longer-than-usual wait (smart!) and we had a great chat while waiting for our savories. Verdict: worth the wait! He got the Avalanche, which was immense and so good. I had...um, forgot the name but it had tomato and spinach and was also delicious, generous but no so huge that I couldn't finish it. I feel obliged to go back and try a sweet crepe on the next visit - those looked amazing, and the inclusion of Nutella on the menu not only indicated high crepe literacy, but an always-welcome nod to European culinary indulgence (by these Montanans!) The venue is cute and cozy, with well-arranged seating that maximizes the space. Outdoor seating also appeared when I walked past later in the morning. I particularly approve of the large table near the window - suitable for a bigger group, or for people who like to mix and make new friends. Oh, and good coffee. Score! read more

I've been a few times and each time the service has been horrible. One time I called in an order and they said it would be ready in 15 minutes, so I got there and they said it would be a few more minutes. No worries, so I waited. After 20 minutes, I hear the owner and an employee bad mouth someone who still hadn't picked up their order. They said the name of the customer and it was me. I calmly got up and said that it was my order and I received no apology even though I was sitting well within earshot. The next time I ordered, I again went there after 15 minutes and was told that they had forgotten about my order. I've never been to a place that has forgotten an order. Thankfully, they were able to rectify it quickly. The crepes are decent, but nothing spectacular. Honestly, I would choose to spend your money somewhere that'll actually respect you. read more

The crepe was served cold, I am not sure how, and they forgot to make my waffle, so I waited an extra 10 minutes while the regular person eating their crepe was done and the gluten free order person was 90% done. We waited 30 minutes for our food, which I was fine with, but to forget mine, and be flippant about it without an apology is bold, rude, and unacceptable. Putting the ceiling fans on might have helped the smoke filled room dissipate the smell instead of it clinging to my clothes. Thrilled to see the return of a creperie to the Cincinnati area! Avalanche is a quaint lodge-themed eatery with an assortment of sweet and savory crepes as well as your choice of coffee to drink. I really enjoyed seeing a trail map from one of my favorite ski resorts, Keystone, framed on the front wall. I felt the offerings on the menu could be a bit clearer, as I completely forgot that waffles and non-coffee drinks were even an option, since it doesn't really mention them (outside of the name of the place). Upon my visit this weekend, my party tried the London Fog and a Toasted Marshmallow Cafe au Lait. I don't know how much the marshmallow came through on my drink but it was tasty nonetheless. For eats we had the opportunity to try the Sleeping Giant, Ronnie, and Clancy crepes. Of the three, I'd say I enjoyed the sweet caramel and peach of Clancy the best. The Sleeping Giant had a good salty pesto and Ronnie had a nice hearty flavor that was accentuated by a dip in the hot sauce we added from the table. Avalanche is set up as a Quick Serve restaurant, so it can be a little intimidating if you haven't had a chance to peruse the menu before arriving at the counter. The service was friendly and brought out our food and drinks in a reasonable amount of time. Water, napkins and bussing are self-serve. Unfortunately, they had run out of napkins while we were there, so we had to trouble them for some. They kindly and quickly obliged. Silverware is tossed in kind of a grody soap-water dunk tank. I wasn't a big fan of that - they should probably just leave it dry, but I think they are fighting with the commodity of space. Definitely would enjoy again. read more

My wife and I stopped by Avalanche on a bitter cold weekend and they were quite busy. Luckily there were still a few seats left so we put in our ordered and grabbed a table. We split the Avalanche and Yellowstone crepes. Both were delicious but the Avalanche stole the show. We also grabbed a caramel cold brew and a cinnamon brown sugar cold brew. We were expecting an overly sweet Dunkin style coffee but were pleasantly surprised by how delicious both were. Not overly sweet, very flavorful and you could still taste the coffee. The place was small but there's plenty of seating. It's the kind of place where you order when you walk in then find a seat. They call out your name and bring it to you when it's ready. read more

Y'all, let me just say that I was not a crepe person before I visited this new shop near UC. I'd had crepes before, and I guess they were OK ... but after trying Avalanche, I have to say that I have been converted! I stopped by on a Monday afternoon, and was served by the owner (Reagan) herself! The shop wasn't busy at all ... but Reagan shared with me that they've been poppin' since opening, especially on weekends. I went with the Yellowstone, which should probably be renamed "Banana Caramel Heaven." This seriously was one of the most amazing things I've ever put in my mouth ... it tastes like banana pudding, but lighter. I also had no idea how big these crepes would actually be! The crepes I've had before were much smaller ... but Reagan's are enormous, and also absolutely stunning. There were also several savory menu options, for whatever mood you might be in. The store is also super cute -- you walk in and you're instantly transported to the mountains of Montana. The decor is all carefully selected, and you can tell that some serious passion went into curating this new spot. There's also free wifi, and outlets readily available if you want to come work or study for a while. Obviously, you'll have to fend for yourself when it comes to parking, especially when UC is back in session. That said -- I was able to snag some street parking a little ways down the road, and I did notice a garage nearby. I can't wait to come back and sample more of this menu, and I'm definitely bringing friends with me next time! read more

This is such a cute place to visit! The staff was very upbeat and friendly. I had the crepe with ham, cheese, and egg for a late breakfast. Everything tasted fine....I just wasn't fond of the savory/sweet mix. I would DEFINITELY visit again to taste one of the sweet crepes because of the atmosphere, staff, and quality of the food. Amazing crepes!! We started out with 5 crepes for the four of us and had to get 3 more to go. The Yellowstone, Clancy and Snow Bunny were the 3 sweet crepes. The Clancy tasted like fresh peach pie and the strawberries in the Snow Bunny for huge and fresh. My daughter loved the Mountain Man and got a 2nd one for dinner that night. I kinda had a taste for crepes today, and my choice was between here and "The Cracked Pot" in Middletown, but the wait was about 70 minutes. It's a bummer because part of the reason I was heading that way anyway was because I was going to go to the outlet mall in Monroe. Experience: Nonetheless, the wait at Avalanche was about 45 minutes, and the place wasn't that crowded. They physically had two drums, but it only looked like one person was making crepes. So the one at a time operation was apparently part of the cause for the delay, but really...how long does it take to make a crepe?? These dudes were SLOW.) I think that if they laid the place out a little bit differently then they would have more space. They had one large community table right in front and that table should have probably been more towards the back of the building. At the 40 minute mark, they started bringing chairs and tables and sitting them outside for more seating. Food: Hot Chai was standard fare. They'll add pesto to the other crepes too, just ask. Chai latte was perfect!! Friendly and helpful staff. Everything is freshly cooked there. Spotless in the inside. I will, 100%, return. I had a vegetarian version of the Sleeping Giant and added green onions. Reagan, the owner, was working that day and I have to say-an absolute gem of a human being. So knowledgeable and the customer service was out of this world. She mentioned that any of the savory crepes could be made vegetarian! I also snagged a hot chai and was offered several milk choices. The crepe portion is ample, one is easily enough, though I was very tempted to grad a sweet crepe on my exit. The Sleeping Giant comes drizzled with pesto and included scrambled egg, Swiss cheese, peppers, and spinach. The taste was awesome and the edges of the crepe were just the right amount of crisp. Here, You can choose different toppings for crepes or waffles, and they have sweet and savory options. If you can't decide, you can do the "Lewis and Clark" where you choose two half orders, savory, sweet or both, of crepes or waffles. (That's what I did!) I also got a cafe au lait. This place is delicious, and great for a quick bite! Portion size was perfect, and the food was well executed. The staff was very chill and friendly.
