I was here a few weeks ago and i thouroughly enjoyed myself. Some work people and I had a room in the back that turns into a lounge with a DJ. The music was upbeat, food was delicious, good crowd. I had a 14 oz steak that i ordered medium. It was very good and whoever the chef is must understand what he or she is doing. I believe it was a 14 oz NY Strip. top of the line i must say. It was enough and light to start dinner.y sister and I decided to share a Ribeye, ordered Med Rare but the cut we got was not at all like that, we decided to keep eating it but it wasn't the cut we were expecting. The vibes of this place are great, the bar is always busy and fun to grab drinks at. The food also really surprised me, as everything we ordered was delicious. Used the holiday off to take a day trip to Delray Beach. After enjoying several hours at the beach, we ventured out for lunch. To our surprise, however, most places in Delray (at least near or on Atlantic Ave) during the week seem to be closed until 5PM, which is rather odd given that it's a vacation destination. Luckily Avalon Beach House was one of the exceptions! Super cute spot right on Atlantic Ave with plenty of good food and drink options. Even better, they have happy hour that runs til 6, so we ordered a spicy marg and the watermelon frose (not overly sweet surprisingly). My friend had initially wanted to know how sweet their rose was and our server was kind enough to offer to bring her a sample to decide. The mahi tacos are yummy but they are pretty spicy, which I think servers may want to warn patrons about. The ahi tuna poke is refreshing with pineapple in the mix, but I actually would have preferred less pineapple in this dish. I live downtown WPB but I'm slightly more in love with downtown Delray! I met a friend down here and we chilled, walked around, had a drink at Starbucks while waiting for Avalon to open. Delray has free parking in certain garages on Sunday (unlike WPB which is usually never free no matter the day or time, except Green Market hours). We visited during Delray Beach Restaurant Month and ate from that menu. I started with the chilled shrimp for appetizer. Came with 4 big azz super colossal shrimp and house made cocktail sauce. My entree consisted of a 6 ounce center cut filet mignon served over sautéed spinach and fingerling potatoes. The potatoes were nasty to me and definitely not worth the carbs. I requested the filet to be cooked medium rare and it came out straight perfection! My companion and I both had the same app and entree but chose different desserts so we could share. I chose the lemon bar which was light, lemony and delicious. It was topped with blackberries and a sauce. My date ordered the flourless chocolate cake which was served with vanilla ice cream and lava filled on the inside. It was rich goodness that was worth every calorie. Service was good but I didn't like the server that much. He was slow to bring requested items but beyond that, his personality and responses were just not jiving with me at all. Not enough to be irritated about to ruin the mood. The ambiance is nice, the complimentary bread basket was good EXCEPT the butter they serve with it is sweet. HATED IT!!!! read more

We celebrated a special occasion with a prefix menu at Avalon! The service was exceptional, the ambiance was lovely and truly each course was delicious. A family style, prefix menu served our group perfectly! For starters we got the wedge salad, pork belly bahn mi, angry prawns and the octopus. All were wonderful - but I loved the angry prawns! The sauce was good enough to dip bread in afterwards lol. The pork belly was awesome, but I wouldn't call them bahn mi. Nice crispy octopus. For main course, we had a few steaks - all of which were incredible, as well as the chicken & swordfish. Their dirty martinis with blue cheese olives are truly unmatched. Honestly I used to love this place but recently I was very disappointed. I loved having the option of either brunch or happy hour on the weekend but they changed happy hour on the weekends (no longer all day). They removed a lot of the food off of the happy hour menu and increased prices all around. My favorite wine was replaced by a cheaper version and the espresso martini was weak. Tonight we made our way through the crowded streets of downtown Delray Beach and found parking directly across the street from Avalon. I felt it was going to be a great night and my instincts were correct. Although it was an extremely hot and humid evening, and Avalon has both indoor as well as outdoor dining, the air inside was beautifully air conditioned. I kept counting my lucky stars to be seated inside! We had a reservation and were immediately seated at a lovely table out of the way of any walking traffic in a quiet area on the side of the restaurant. Our waiter could not have been more polite or attentive to all our needs. He refilled our water and sodas even before we realized we were running low and kept brushing our bread crumbs as they dropped. He answered all of our food queries with expertise. I only wish I remembered his name so I could thank him again here for his great service! On to the food at Avalon..... Culinary heaven! ‍ I haven't had a meal this delicious in a very long time! I started with a Caesar Salad and it probably was the #1 best Caesar Salad I've ever had. The dressing was so fresh and each ingredient sung on my palate! I was actually sad when I realized I was at the last forkful and there wasn't any more! In my dreams I would have cancelled my main dish and ordered another Caesar salad!!! My main dish was a shrimp and fusilli dish. It was also excellent!! I couldn't believe how much I was eating but when I say it was "that good", well, you know what I mean when you just can't help yourself! I promise to work out "extra" tomorrow!! My husband ordered Steak Frites which came with fries and he also ordered onion rings as a side. He is a picky eater of unfortunately, junk food but found that he liked these choices and said his food tasted great! Normally he orders burgers and fries so this was quite a departure! Had a great brunch at the bar with Isabelle on a Saturday. According to the website, happy hour is served on Saturday until 4pm but apparently this has been discontinued and Saturday is the only day without happy hour. Food was good, burger was a standout, bottomless drinks were very reasonably priced, and customer service was top notch. Honestly have loved Avalon in the past. Always good vibes and energy especially in the speakeasy. But this past Thursday some girlfriend and I went for ladies drink "free". At 10:43 my girlfriend and I ordered 2 Tito's and soda which is the liquor on happy hour. The bartender tried to charge us $40. I then pulled up the online flier which stated ladies drink free till 11 pm. Both bartenders and the manger tried to say it was a mistake which is not true because in the past we've been able to order till 11. Attached is a photo of said "manager". Dining at Avalon was a real treat! I love a good surf and turf so I was really looking forward to dinner. The decor was really pretty and did not feel so "steakhouse ish" which I appreciated. We ordered the soft shell crab, T-bone steak and roasted carrots. The crab was delectable and my friend who dislikes seafood tasted it and agreed, as well.
