So easy and fast. I requested a same day appointment via Yelp and got a response within minutes for a 2:30 PM appointment Vanna. 1.5 hours later I came out with a fresh cut, shampoo and blow dry. I came in with semi-long thick hair that has been colored and in much need of a cut. I asked Vanna to cut off enough to remove the damaged hair and split ends which ended up being about 3 inches. She asked for a picture of what cut I wanted and after showing her a simple picture I saw on their yelp page, she went to work. This was the most meticulous cut I've ever had. Vanna took her time to divide my hair in sections for the cut, measured both sides often to check it was even, and thinned out my thick hair. She constantly asked if this was okay and gave me a mirror to check that the back was the right length. I think I've found my person to cut my hair from now on. Vanna was easy to talk to, she never rushed through the cut, and the price was quite reasonable. After quoting me a reasonable price I asked to make an appointment. she was with a client and told me to leave name and number and I would receive a text from Quinn. As other reviewers have mentioned, Danny is such a joy to be around! It's just the cherry on top that he is incredibly talented. This is the second time I have booked with Danny for a full color and blowout service. Firstly the color is SPOT ON and so shiny, vibrant, etc. secondly I have very curly hair and Danny always gives me the perfect blowout at the end of my color treatment. I feel like a rockstar. Cannot recommend Danny and Avalon Salon enough!!! read more

Beyanca is a magician! WOW. I had been going to the same guy for almost 3 years for my hair and every 3 months I would go (he recommended going every 3 months) my hair always looked orange and exactly the same... it was terrible. Not only was my hair so ugly and dry, but it was also expensive. This is my first time ever here, and Beyanca did this in 1 session!! When I tell you I am so happy and just in shock at the work that was done,I mean that. Not only is Beyanca wonderful at what she does, but she is the sweetest nicest person. she took care of me and was very welcoming. Brought my 8 year old daughter here to get her hair cut for school. She's super particular about keeping her length and was really skeptical about even getting a trim. *side note* she's been to one other salon and she didn't have a good experience making her even more hesitant on cutting her hair* When we got there Vanna was super friendly and treated her like a "regular" client rather than a child. My daughter got her hair washed (which the other salon didn't do) and everything! I was kind of shocked. I could see on my daughter's face that she felt special. After explaining to Vanna how my daughter wanted her hair cut (a little trim and layers in just the front). Vanna was gentle and made sure my daughter was comfortable. After she trimmed the back she started to work on the layers in the front. We explained that we didn't want the layers starting too high up where she couldn't put her hair behind her ear. And Vanna did exactly that. She double checked with us if we wanted it cut a bit shorter but it was perfect. I'm so glad and appreciate that Vanna even had asked rather than taking it upon herself to cut it shorter. Small things like that will make me definitely come back! My daughter is extremely happy and more confident about getting her hair cut again, as long as it's from Vanna! I need to get my hair done soon, and will be going back to this place! read more

Before I went here, I had given my previous hair salon 3 chances to get my hair right. Each time, may hair ended up with an uneven balayage and an icky yellow color. My mom told me about this place and said she was sure they would be able to fix my hair. So I decided to schedule an appointment with Vivian. Vivian was amazing! She was so patient and attentive. I've Been coming to this salon for a few years now and Kayla is my absolute go-to stylist whenever my hair needs some major TLC. She is so friendly, professional and wonderful at turning my dull "mom hair" into Amazing, young and fresh hair! Thank you, Kayla, for always making my hair so beautiful and lively! Helpful tip: Making appointments online or via telephone is very easy and efficient and they usually respond to you within 24 hours for online inquiries. Review for haircut for Vivian: She was so nice and took her time with my hair! She was meticulous with her haircut and didn't rush it at all. I just asked for a curtain bangs with long layers and she did a great job ! Price was $45. Very reasonable compared to other salons that charge 70+ for haircut. Just like a lot of people, I was in need of a haircut because quarantining during the pandemic means my hair was very long, thick, and had many split ends. A cut was definitely needed. Of 'course, many salons have been closed, but the recent stay-at home order was lifted, and I was okay with leaving the house again. I wanted to find a salon close to me that made sure all their employees wore masks and social-distanced. Thankfully, I stumbled upon Avalon Salon. I requested an appointment through Yelp, and within a few minutes, I got a response! I replied and was able to schedule an appointment for later that week! Keyley was my stylist, and she was very knowledgeable! She was kind and honest as she gave me some recommendations for my hair. I plan to come to her again when I need another trim! During my appointment, only one other client was there, and they were being helped by another hair stylist. It was only them, plus me and Keyley. This was at 4:30PM. They were both socially distanced from us because they were on opposite side of the salon. I'm glad this salon has safety measures in place! read more

10/10 would recommend! Vivian was AMAZING. I showed her a photo of the haircut I wanted, and she gave me exactly what I asked for - and even better! Her quality, precision, and attention to detail is reflected in her beautiful work. I would definitely come back again. Vivian, and everyone at the salon are so friendly and willing to help. My review goes for sweet Kayla. I set up appt for next day & she was happy to assist me. She obviously knows what she is doing. Very professional and detailed.. Prior to her, 2 days before, i went to a different salon claiming she can do the color i wanted. Spent 8 hrs and left home with brassy hair. What a nightmare!! With Kayla i went home with just the color i wanted!! It took about 4hrs 15mins for the color correction. I will recommend her to anyone who needs help with their hair. Terrible haircut. I showed a photo, I said I wanted bangs thick, and keep my long layers. She didn't do any of that and insisted on what she thought was better and kept chopping of layers of my hair. I have never experienced bangs being layered this much. And I've always had bangs. Now my bangs are thin and my hair at the back is thin, too. Her name is Amy. I'm so sad! Super sad. I should have driven to my usual place in Costa Mesa instead but my sister in law recently had a hair color at this place. Perhaps the hair color they do here is good! Just not with haircuts, especially if you want bangs. Please go somewhere else. read more

I did a balayage and trim a couple months ago and it still looks great! Beyanca is amazing. We had a good conversation (which is important when you're there for 2.5-3hrs). I was the last client for the day and when i was done, I was going to wait outside for my fiancé to pick me up but she insisted that I stay inside and she waited with me even though he hit traffic and was pretty late. Her prices are fair and similar to, if not a bit lower than, other salons in the area. read more

Quinn is absolutely amazing! I came in with a very general idea of what I wanted to do with my hair, but ultimately trusted her to do what she thought would look good. She showed me pictures of different styles and colors and recommended a style that she though would suit be best. I'm so glad I came to her because she cut and colored my hair perfectly. VIVIAN IS UNPROFESSIONAL, UNETHICAL, SHE DOESN'T APPRECIATE YOUR BUSSINESS, AVOID THIS SALON AT ALL COST!!! PLEASE READ AND DON'T LET YOURSELF BE IN THIS SITUATION. I had been a loyal customer to this hair salon for 4 years and appearantly it means nothing to them. I had been gone to Vivian for all the ashy blone and ombre balayage. But now, I'm just over the blonde era and I'd like to comeback to my natural hair color with a small twist to it. I reached out to her asking for a brown with red light/ reflection and she did my hair. She said the red color would be more visible over time after washing my hair okay no problem 4 months passed by, I reached out to her that I'll book an appt for a little more red. She originally told me to see other hair stylist as she was sick. I said okay no problem no rush I could wait. 1 week later I checked on her as if she came back to work, no respond. 2 week later I checked on her again, no respond. 3 weeks later I checked on her once again, but yep seen no respond. Aftee the 3-time getting ghosted, I still tried to see her, yes I'm patient and loyal like that. I then went on their website to book a single hair process appointment with her, the confirmation email went by quickly but 2 hours later I got another email that due to Covid-19 they'd cancel my appointment. My friend then booked ombre balayage appt with her and got her texts the next morning. I'm shocked and disappointed, how could you run a business unprofessionally like this? Like do they even have an owner or the hair stylist could do whatever they want?! This is just beyond unprofessional and unacceptable, you name it! I'm deeply regret supporting her business over the year. If you don't have the capabilities to do the color, which isn't even hard, let me know instead of ignoring me like that. I was nothing but a loyal customer to you. I'll make sure all my friends and family don't go to this hair salon. This is why your business won't survive, ciao and good luck. read more

I emailed Jackie directly, included clear photos of the damage, and requested a refund of the $140 I paid--giving her a fair opportunity to respond and make things right. She ignored me entirely. I was never offered my money back, nor did I receive any response or apology. I then escalated the issue to the salon. While they did apologize and offered a complimentary haircut with a top stylist, by that point the trust was gone. I declined, because I should not have to risk further disappointment or spend more time fixing a mistake that never should have happened. Between the poor quality of the haircut and the total lack of professionalism and customer care, this experience was beyond frustrating--it was unacceptable. I would strongly caution anyone considering booking with Jackie.

It was great. For the color, she said that a lighter color might not actually look the best on me and a subtle brown might be better! I was pretty down for whatever she thought looked good so I trusted the process again. Let me tell you... this subtle brown looked so good with the cut. Also, my hair? Soft as HECK. It was kinda gritty before so I was shook when I touched my hair after the appt. She chatted with me lots and also gave me space too. It was a great balance and also she answered my questions!! I always have so many questions and she answered them all for me!! Including... how to style my hair because I suck at those things. I'll take any advice and tips I can get. Price is reasonable for OC too! TLDR; I walked in with messy hair that made me look dead inside and walked out with softer dyed hair AND styling knowledge. If that isn't a win, I don't know what is.
