After hearing glowing reviews from coworkers, I had to check it out for myself - and I'm so glad I did! I highly recommend making a reservation. We visited on a Friday night and were lucky to have one, as the place was packed! We started with the bread service, which was warm and delicious, and the crab cakes. Just a heads-up--if you're dining with more than two people, definitely order extra crab cakes! They were so tasty, but we each only got one. For our entrees, we chose the prime rib special and the scallops. The scallops were perfectly seasoned and cooked, and the broccoli had a crisp, flavorful touch without being overpowering. The prime rib was massive, cooked to perfection, and practically melted in your mouth--it was so tender you could almost cut it with a butter knife. To top it all off, the key lime pie was hands down the best I've ever had. Given the quality of the food, the pricing is very reasonable, and the staff were friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. so this place smelled funny and bad the second we walked in, but we figured they do have a lot of seafood dishes on the menu and we'll just go with it the appetizer was quite delicious but could use a bit more pork in the risotto fritters. I had the short rib, which was one of the worst I've ever had completely dried out like old stew meat served with a burnt sauce, very bitter and quite sour along with the same flavorless potatoes and carrots not very impressive. I had this placed pinned and wanted to try them out. When we arrived we were seated immediately. They weren't out of a few items on the menu but we ordered some other stuff we wanted to try. We started off with bread service. For our entrees we ordered the chicken and mushroom risotto, and the rack of lamb. So I ordered well done on the lamb and it came our medium well. For me that's way too pink and the fat wasn't rendered. It was gamey I didn't not like. The whole dish was lacking salt. The chicken mushroom risotto wasn't bad. That dish was actually good, hence the three stars. I don't think I will be back. The chef came out and offered to heat up my lamb but anyone who cooks meat should know you can't cook the same piece after it's been cut into, because it will completely dry out the meat. I declined because he should of offered to make a new one. He did see it was pretty pink. I guess they just don't know how to cook lamb. read more

In the last year, I have begun eating pork chops when I like the sound of the preparation. So, I ordered their pork chop when our server suggested it that it was one of the best things on the menu. Ohhhhh, how I wish it was in my neighborhood back home!! I'd be a regular fo sho!! I came here alone for dinner while I was in town for a conference and this was one of the highlights of my trip! I sat at the bar and my beautiful and sweet mixologist was awesome at what she does. She whipped me up several outstanding cocktails that evening all while be attentive, but not intrusive while I enjoyed my meal. Everything I ate here was so good. I'm so excited to see Avanti reopen! Thanks to Yelp I just learned my favorite pork chop of all time is back in my life and I enjoyed every bite of the entire dish. The chop is the same, the AMAZING French onion bread pudding (the best stuffing you'll ever eat) is the same, and the drinks are the same. The affogato was the perfect blend of strong fresh espresso and smooth ice cream. I didn't give 5 stars because I was a bit disappointed by the olives and the strawberry tiramisu but I'll be back to try the olive oil cake and hope the olives have some herbs or garlic in them next time. read more

This local gem is tucked away in the back of a mixed-use strip mall. The location has changed hands and formats a number of times over the years. This version was spot on. We were greeted promptly and politely, served quickly and with grace, and the food was excellent. We had the Ensalada Caprese which was perfect, bread service with balsamic vinegar, sea scallops that my wife loved, and my flat iron steak was done perfectly. Prices were reasonable at $100 for both of us. There's a lovely patio for outdoor dining, but it's right next to the I-205 freeway, so you'll hear the traffic. A full bar lines one side of the rectangular indoor dining room. I wish them best of luck making the space work! read more

I'm not sure why I'd never been here, except maybe the assumption that restaurants near my suburban home are often disappointing so it's generally advisable to go to Portland for great meals. My experience at Avanti was excellent. There were 3 of us and we each had seafood entrees- mahi mahi, halibut, and sautéed shrimp on pasta, all of which were outstanding. High quality fish with inventive preparations. Don't miss desserts, especially the key lime pie and the panna cotta. The cocoanut shrimp appetizer was terrific. The only miss was the house salad, which was extremely overdressed and soggy, seems like it'd been dressed and sitting in the kitchen at room temperature on a hot day for a couple hours. Service was outstanding. Our server was attentive, informative and highly professional. It has a lovely outdoor patio if you aren't bothered by the traffic noise from I-205 below. Tucked away in the corner of a high end strip mall next to a freeway exit, Avanti is a gem and is now officially on my go to list. read more

I think I found my new favorite restaurant! My husband and I came here last night to celebrate my birthday, and everything was so delicious. We started with an appetizer of arancini - yum. He had the short ribs with mashed potatoes and carrots, and I had the braised halibut in a saffron beurre blanc sauce with fingerling potatoes and grilled asparagus (both were incredibly tasty). For dessert, we shared a piece of cheesecake with strawberry sauce. The Pineapple Mule and Tempranillo (wine) were both excellent. Start by entering the stylishly decorated restaurant, greeted by the friendly owners and/or staff. We were seated outdoor which is spacious for the area. We started with tasty appetizers of coconut shrimp, seared ahi tuna and oysters on the half shell. Every dish we tried in my party was delicious from the panko and herb crusted mahi mahi, to the flat iron steak, and the prawns reto capellini. While the menu is not large it offers a good variety and it's quality of options not quantity. Drinks and dessert also do not disappoint.
