    Samosa
    Niki L.

Came here looking for a new Indian spot in the area. The restaurant was empty on a weekday night at 5pm. We ordered the pakora, pistachio chicken, lamb vindaloo, and garlic naan. To our surprise, we actually ended up getting the samosas, but they were delicious - crispy, full of spices, and served with a tasty array of tamarind sauce and chutney. The lamb vindaloo was tender and not at all gamey, but the pistachio chicken was the favorite. The meal as a whole was a little pricey like a lot of Indian places, but we had enough for a single serving to-go at the end of the meal. We ended up ordering out a few weeks later to get some butter chicken and saag. The butter chicken seemed more tomato based than others we've had. The saag was rich and creamy, which seemed to balance the tomato. We'll likely keep coming back to try other dishes from this restaurant.

Oh. My. Goodness. You guys!!! If you're looking for Indian food, come here!! My hubs and I decided to go here for Indian and all the people in the shops around this place RAVE about the amazingness they serve here. They weren't wrong. The two men that were there are from Nepal and make you feel so welcome. The restaurant is very clean with a beautiful ambiance. We ordered white rice, cumin pea pulao rice, pistachio chicken korma and garlic cilantro naan. The flavors are still on my palette 24hours later and I want more. Next time we will order the main dish and naan with no rice. Not that the rice wasn't delicious, we just want to fill ourselves with the main dish and naan more. Hubs also ordered a chai, not his favorite as it had a film that kept forming over the top, but the flavor was good. Also, our nice waiter had no idea on questions we asked and looked confused when we asked them. We are avid YouTube foodies and watch all kinds of foodies in different counties and lately all Indian foods.... So questions we asked didn't think would be hard to answer, such as what is the Taj Mahal beer like, he responded with hot... we were kind of confused but ordered it anyway. Turns out it is like a light lager type beer. There were a few other questions he didn't seem to know how to answer. Not sure if he just didn't understand us or maybe we weren't saying things the right way, either way, I would highly recommend eating here. The chef came out twice to check on us and told us he is going to improve his flavors to even better. I'm not sure how you could possibly top this already, but we will gladly enjoy it. Their food is very clean and healthy tasting and no stomach issues later like some other places we've eaten at. I cannot wait to go back!! Thank you for your beautiful hospitality and delicious food!!!

We got a recommendation to come here and we're not disappointed! Amazing friendly staff who were quick and prompt. The place was well decorated with trinkets and deities. The food was very flavorful and fresh. We had the chicken mono, paneer labradar and naan. The owners were Nepali and my husband loved talking to them in their language and we just loved our experience here. We will definitely be back and hope they add more Nepali dishes to the menu, such as veg momo, noodles, jhol etc! Looking forward to coming back soon!!

SERVICE: table side, BUT this is a small operation, so they might all be in the back - there's a bell by the door you can ring to get seated, pacing is more leisurely AMBIANCE: clean and colorful, very cozy FLAVORS: clearly using quality ingredients and there is a vision, but overall too sweet... Lamb shank masala (3/5) - a very tender lamb shank swimming in sweet, cinnamon-y tomato sauce... Aloo gobi (3/5) - cauliflower was still on the crisper side, very fresh, but again... the dish was mostly overpowered by the flavor of sweet tomato sauce... Fig and apricot salad (3/5) - great idea, great combination, beautiful visually, but the textures and the flavors aren't working together PORTIONS: filling and hearty PRICE: appropriate BONUS TIP: beer option is limited an only serving taj mahal beer at this time, bathroom is immaculate!

Aloo Gobi, Onion naan, and coconut lentil soup-

If food doesn't make me do the happy dance, I won't write a review. This place makes me happy dance all the time. Not only is the food deliciously authentic, fresh, and made to order, but it is medicinal, made with herbs that are perfect for staying healthy and well all year long! I always get the daals so I wanted to get something different this time, and I was not disappointed, quite the opposite. The coconut lentil soup appetizer was pleasantly sour and warm, and tasted fantastic in this cold weather. Thank you avatar!!

The food here is really good! I felt the service was a little slow but still good enough I would come back. I enjoyed every dish we tried, it's very nice to have good Indian food in granite bay. We will be back! The appetizer was my favorite but I can't remember what it's called

We really liked this place. The staff were friendly and answered my menu questions. The food was amazing and flavorful. The Palak Paneer is a little different from other places. Their's is less creamy and more spinach rich. The Paneer also appeared to be roasted or pan fried before going into the dish. It's different but very good still. The ground lamb appetizer was wonderful and had a great texture. The lamb biryani was also very good. And don't forget to try their mango lassi! It was very thick and mango rich. The restaurant was decorated more than most. It had a lot of art and art pieces on the walls. It was still organized nicely and the place had a comfortable meal environment. We'll be back again, hopefully soon!

We like that they have 4 entrees and 2 appetizers clearly marked as vegan. The vegan bread it roti without butter. They also have brown rice available if you'd like. The people who work there are very friendly. The food is made to order as hot, fresh and to your desired spice level. We also like that the items we ordered were not too oily.

This place is delicious! My daughter absolutely loves the butter chicken. We started with ginger lime chicken. My daughter loved the sauce. The chicken curry is so flavorful. Garlic nan is the best. Baigan bharta was new to us but we loved it. The tandoori chicken is my favorite. I highly recommend this place. It was clean and very nice service. 10/10

I placed a takeout order on their website. It went smoothly, and the order was ready right on time. My one critique of the ordering system is that the only choices of Spicy Level are 'Medium' and 'Between Medium To Spicy'. Really? I added a note that the entrees should be more spicy than medium, but in retrospect I should have just asked for spicy (if not very spicy), as the entrees were both quite mild. I shared two dishes and two breads: Eggplant Bharta, Mix Veggie Coconut Curry, Garlic Cilantro Naan, and Whole Wheat Roti. The breads were a big disappointment. Both breads were moist, chewy, tough, and nothing like any Naan or Roti we've had before. I don't know if they were made wrong, or if being wrapped in aluminum foil ruined them. The two entrees were ok (adding our own chili flakes to each helped with the spice level). I liked the very large chunks and variety of veggies in the Coconut Curry, though the curry sauce itself wasn't particularly flavorful. The Eggplant Bharta was our favorite of everything, with a caveat that the strongest spice we tasted seemed to be salt. Overall, it was ok, but not good. If we try again, it will be dining in, and hopefully everything will be much better.

This is supposed to be malai spinach kofta. However it's mostly canned tomato gravy.

Disappointing Experience Due to Food Safety Concern…read more I visited this restaurant on Wednesday for lunch. This was actually my second time dining here. My first visit was pleasant, which is why I decided to come back. This time, I ordered what I believe was the tri-tip steak wrap. As I was finishing the first half of my wrap, I noticed a dead fly in my food. Needless to say, I was shocked and immediately lost my appetite. I walked to the front and asked to speak with a manager. The cashier who helped me was very friendly and professional. I explained the situation to her, and she relayed it to the manager. While I do appreciate that they refunded my meal, what disappointed me most was the manager's response. He never came over to speak with me, apologize, or acknowledge the situation directly. From where I was standing, he appeared visibly disturbed when informed, but he simply instructed the cashier to issue a refund and never addressed me as the customer. I understand that mistakes happen and that it was a busy lunch rush. However, finding a fly in a meal is a serious food safety issue, and I believe a manager or owner should take a moment to personally speak with the customer, show concern, and offer an apology. A little empathy would have gone a long way. The refund was appreciated, but the lack of acknowledgment and customer care left a much stronger impression than the refund itself. Unfortunately, after this experience, I'm hesitant to return.

First and most important star: Pushkin's is predominantly vegan, gluten-free, and dairy-free -- and bakeries that truly excel in all three are one in a million. For anyone with allergies or dietary restrictions, this place feels like winning the lottery. You can actually relax and enjoy treats without feeling like you're settling or taking a risk. Second star: the employees are incredibly friendly and genuinely passionate. One guy (nose ring, long blonde hair -- didn't catch his name) was amazing. He knew the pastries inside and out and patiently walked my wife through allergy questions about dairy-free options, putting her totally at ease. And trust me, my wife can ask a thousand questions (till u wanna choke her).. Another employee -- a short, curly-haired, very light-skinned/mixed Black woman -- was just as gracious when we asked about cashews for our daughter. Both of them were beyond kind and knowledgeable. Third star: great coffee. I only had an Americano, but it was really good -- smooth, rich, and exactly what you want with pastries like these. Fourth star: the place is clean, organized, and clearly well-run. It was busy, but the team handled the crowd efficiently without feeling rushed or chaotic. Fifth star (the fun one): the pastries are ridiculously good. We tried a bunch: * chocolate mud cookie -- perfect crunch on the outside, chewy inside * cinnamon-roll-style pound cake -- super moist and flavorful * cinnamon roll scone * almond cake with raspberry ...and several others I didn't catch the names of. Everything was delicious. You'd never guess these are vegan/gluten-free/dairy-free -- they're just straight-up amazing pastries. Bottom line: Pushkin's is a gem. If you have dietary restrictions, it's a must-visit. If you don't, are you sure you don't? Maybe you should? it's still a must-visit.
