While visiting my inlaws in Rome, we were excited to see this classy new addition to Rome. The ambiance is amazing and would be at home in any large city. Our server, Jen was fantastic too. You could catch her warm personality even through the mask..... To start, we ordered the crawfish hushpuppies and the scallop small plate. Bother were outstanding with large enough portions that all four of us could share! For entrees, we order 2 pizzas and both salads from the menu. My MIL loved the shrimp salad. Schweety and I split the house salad, which they kindly divided onto two plates before serving. The only weak spot for the evening was the pizzas . They arrived quickly, but not as hot as I expect after seeing the size of the flames in the kitchen. We asked for them to be tossed in the oven for a quick reheat and were surprised when new pizzas arrived. I wish I could say that they were perfect, but they were still could have used a bit more heat. That said, the crust was perfect and the toppings were very tasty! The cocktail list is inventive, there is a nice assortment of craft beers and the wine list has something for everyone. Rome is lucky to have such a place in times like this! read more

You must eat dinner at Aventine! This is the restaurant I've been waiting for in north Georgia. Everything is exquisite! Well balanced flavors, creative menu, and really kind and genuine servers. Seriously, if you want a special night out or just a delicious dinner, this is it! The atmosphere is also top notch. So well decorated, not overdone, just right. They have a level of refinement at every level of their operation that you're not likely to find anywhere else in Rome. And it shows! They're always booked. Strongly recommend a reservation. Plan a few days ahead if you can. If it's a popular weekend date you might have to plan a week or two out. The food is awesome. The charcuterie board is is varied and interesting. My wife and I recently took our anniversary trip to Rome. Seems odd I am sure, but we are Berry College Sweethearts and Rome holds a very dear place in our hearts. All that to say, we loved Aventine. You do not go here to have a rushed meal and that was the best part. The staff was amazing! The food was outstanding and we loved the seasonal menu. It was a refreshing change of pace. There are not many places in the states that give you the true Italian vibe, but I think they hit the nail on the head. This was our first visit and so we sampled several different items and our waitress spaced the meal out perfectly so the cocktail table we were seated at (we walked in without a reservation) was never too crowded. I had Pomodora pasta with diavolo sauce, sausage, and mushrooms. The pasta was done to perfection. I stayed in Italy for several months and they would have been proud of this dish. we shared a sweet potato souffle with cinnamon gelato and caramel sauce for dessert. This is what Rome was missing. We went for an early Valentine's meal. The atmosphere is cozy and warm, while still upscale. We started with the pommes frites, and they were delicious. My husband had the fried chicken skins, which were too rich for me, but he loved them. We both had the steak, which is unmatched as far as taste, but I did feel the portion was small for the price. However, I saw several dishes coming out of the open kitchen that were much larger, so we will go back because there were several things I would like to try. This might be the nicest food destination in Rome Ga. Spartan interior with just the right amount of decor. Noisy and vibrant when we were there but not annoying. We sat at the bar which did have an uncomfortable hot air blowing onto our legs but enjoyed our conversation with the bartender. The food was fresh and aggressive for Rome Ga. Had dinner at the Aventine Rome this past Saturday night and it was absolutely phenomenal. The seasonal menu is definitely unique for Rome, and the service is top notch (the server's prepped the dessert at the table, it's fantastic). The interior decor is modern farmhouse. It's classy and refined, but also feels like home. I recommend dressing business casual. My one draw back is that the combined bar and dining area does get very loud when it's a full house, as it was on Saturday night. It made it difficult to hear people across the table from me. Acoustic tiles above the ceiling beams could help alleviate the reverberations from overlapping conversations--just a suggestion. I cannot speak highly enough to the impeccable quality of the food, in both taste and appearance. The charcuterie board was so good, and perfect for a table of 4. The pumpkin risotto is one of the best risottos I've ever eaten. And then there's dessert. The sweet potato soufflé, which I was so excited to dive into I forgot to photograph it, simply melts in your mouth. It's indescribably delicious. Watching the server prepare the soufflé, adding the accoutrements of homemade caramel, candied cornflakes and almonds, along with a homemade cinnamon ice cream on top, really takes it a step above. We devoured that soufflé. I mean devoured. I'd eat another one right now if it were in front of me. The wine and cocktail selection is varied as well, and our server, Kate, went out of her way to make sure we were well attended to, including filling our glasses throughout, and suggesting dishes to try. It was a truly enjoyable evening. I highly recommend the Aventine (and our server, Kate). I will definitely make plans to attend again once the spring menu is introduced. Most complete, tastiest meal I've had in recent memory. Starting with the excellent Aventine Old Fashioned ending with affogato and everything in between, Aventine delivered. I'm not even going to give them the back handed compliment of 'best in the area' because Aventine can stand on its own in any region. Charcuterie was superb. Served with a variety of meats, a generous amount of cheeses, mustard, honey comb and house made pickles, it set the tone for the rest of the meal. Arugula and Boquerones salad was a nice clean tasty salad. Boquerones are anchovies in name only. These are not oily or overly fishy, a nice meaty addition to the lemony dressing. Main course was the duck with broccolini and can honestly say that I would select this duck over a steak. Excellent flavor, tender and juicy. The broccolini wasn't just a toss in to make the plate look full of food. I would eat a bushel of broccolini prepared with Aventine's chili garlic sauce. Finished with affogato and a sidecar of espresso..Typically affogato is served in a bowl, however Aventine is smart enough to serve it in a.wide mouth glass because they know you'll want to drink all that melted Gelato and espresso, which I did. We finished with an awesome limoncello and already looking forward to returning to try more of the menu. The restaurant itself is beautiful too. And service by Brianna was spot on. read more
