I have used this place in the past, but when I was told that in order to measure my window screens, I would be charge a $200 plus fee...no thanks. I measured my window screens per their instructions and still got it wrong. wishing they would have come out and measured my windows as I was going to do all 7 that need it. I had 12 insect screens that were in bad shape and needed replacement, plus 2 old-dual-pane sliding doors that had leaked and started growing streaks of mold inside. Avenue Glass & Screen came quickly and replaced the screens and the sliding doors within 2 weeks. There was a minor issue with one of the insect screens, and after I reported it, they came and replaced it without telling me. But when they checked it, the technician said that it was the exact correct size, and showed me how to try it again. Well, I still couldn't get the screen in. After several attempts at other shop (who couldn't do it), we found Avenue Glass & Screen. All we did was take our old screen and marked the frame where the Top of the AC hit and where the bottom hit at the end so they knew where we needed the triangle to be for the AC. No one came during the appointment window, and when I called, I spoke to a woman who said she was the owner, and did not apologize for missing the appointment, said they could come the next day, and when I asked if they could call a few minutes before they arrive in the 3 hour window, she was rude and said this was not possible. So I stayed home for the 3 hours, and no one showed up or called. I was told the replacement would be really expensive...but was never given a number of what expensive is. I then agreed in a quote for a beveled mirror. They who measure was so helpful...however Brian took my info but never called to provide then quote. When I followed up, he said he lost my quote and still never followed up with me after getting my info again. There are many businesses who need support. I wanted to replace a broken mirror inside a medicine cabinet. I took it into their shop, the guy that looked at it said he didn't know if it could be replaced, because the stoppers where in really banged up shape. He told me to leave it in the shop as the guy that'd do the work came in the morning. 2 days later I call them, and the same gentleman says Its not ready yet, but it will cost $63.03 - ok.... 2 days later I stop by the shop in the afternoon and same gentleman tells me, it's not ready yet. No explanation or estimate of when, and when I asked him he said, "I don't know how long, the guy that cuts the glass is having problems cutting it, and he only comes to work in the shop 1 hour a day" so I picked up my medicine cabinet and left. This morning I took it to B & M Glass in El Segundo, and the guys measured, cut, and replaced the mirror, using the same stoppers, all while I waited about 40 minutes, for $35 bucks. I would rather be told "no, we cannot do this" rather than go through this scenario of waiting, calling and asking, and getting vague and rather unfriendly responses, not to mention a higher price, for a job that they are putting off to the moment they finally have a moment to do. read more
