I heard from my mom that this place was good so I went in with some expectation and it exceeded any expectation I had. I've had the fried shrimp poboy and a cheeseburger. The shrimp are fantastic and the fries are equally good. The cole slaw and hush puppies are awesome and I will definitely be back to try more of the menu. If I had one complaint, I would say that the children's menu is a bit pricey. And the service has been great each time I've been. read more

The food is really good but they have ZERO covid safety measures in place, there wasnt an empty table or mask in site. The employees and cooks weren't wearing them. Why this place has high rating is a mystery to me. The high ratings and location persuaded me to give it a try. First off the food, the eggs I received shared the same texture and look as "free hotel breakfast" eggs, they were extremely bland and watery. The biscuits were even worse, they had an extremely dense texture, no layers or fluff, just dense dough all the way through. I figured I could add some gravy and muscle them down, however the watery tasteless cold goo they call gravy was on par with the rest of their food. All in all a horrible execution of the simplest breakfast foods, but that's not all folks... the bill!!! $60 for 2 people???? Nothing crazy was ordered, just the usual eggs, bacon, and biscuits. I wouldn't pay $5 for this meal let alone $60. Absolutely outrageous prices for shit food. If anyone wants a better breakfast experience visit Fork and Spoon, they're cheaper and leagues better than this dump. Went to buttermilk cafe this morning and the wait was told there was an hour wait. Looked online and found this cute little restaurant in Creekside. When we arrived we were greeted instantly at the door and seated in a booth. Not only was our server amazing, our food came out extremely quick. I'm writing this review as the experience unfolds. The vibe is dull and seems to be geared towards senior citizens. The broccoli and cheese soup is very bland (canned taste) but I ate it all because I'm starving. The saltine crackers were stale. Our waitress was top notch but the waiter that works here was over the top loud and obnoxious. Ok the lunch entree just arrived. It looks delicious! It's the blandest fish I've ever ate, the green beans taste canned, and the brown rice taste like minute rice. This is the only place I've eaten in NBTX that isn't good or great. Nice little place, came in on a Saturday morning only one other couple dinning. So not very busy, yet my toast cold and got up-charged for turkey bacon that I didn't eat because it wasn't good at all. Went to Averys Kitchen to get Seafood gumbo. Cold weather brings that on. I was stunned! Besides being expensive it was the worst gumbo I have ever had in my life. There was no shrimp, no crab or anything identifiable that ever swam in the ocean. The rue was a bland mush. I sent it back with my complaint. The waiter said it had "composite" fish in it. YUK! We've been coming here for a couple of years. It is a genuine mom and pop restaurant with wonderful home-cooked meals. It has the best green beans that I've ever had, and I'm very picky about green beans. Aside from the fact that they are seasoned to perfection, you know that they're freshly cooked because of their bright green color, not the canned olive-green color. Other great choices are: chicken strips (not the kid's popcorn chicken), crispy large cut fries (they are already really crispy but if you like extra crispy, you can ask for double fried), gumbo, fried clams (something that's not always found with restaurants that have fried seafood), all you can eat shrimp plate that comes with gumbo, coleslaw, hush puppies, baked potato or fries or healthier substitute (large gulf shrimp, not farm raised, and only shrimps are refillable). Every time we go, we seem to discover something else. Oh, and the coffee (regular, not decaf.) is really good too-smooth and it goes down nicely. read more

Excellent. We came on a Tuesday night expecting a crowd because of the excellent ratings. Instead there was 1 other table. A few more people trickled in, but the environment remained laid back and casual. Perfect to connect with my family at the end of the day. We ordered gumbo, clam chowder, navy bean soup, and mozzarella sticks to start and it was all delicious. We followed that crab cakes, coconut shrimp, chicken fried steak, and a grilled cheese for my picky teen. All of it was good. The marmalade dipping sauce for the shrimp could have been thinned down a little more and the chicken fried steak and gravy could have had a tad more seasoning, but other than that it was great!
