We visited Paradise Cove for lunch with a 1:00 p.m. reservation. Because of unusually high waves, the front row of beachfront seating was closed. We completely understand that the weather was beyond the restaurant's control. What was within their control was how they managed seating. Unfortunately, despite having a reservation, we were overlooked and left waiting due to poor organization. When we asked to speak with the manager, PABLO was dismissive, repeatedly interrupted us, ignored the fact that we had a reservation, and sent us back to the front desk instead of addressing the problem. Rather than helping, he emphasized that he had worked there for 26 years and knew what he was doing. His attitude came across as rude, arrogant, and unprofessional. Once we were finally seated, however, our server (Jorge) was excellent, and the food was outstanding. The waitstaff and kitchen clearly provide a wonderful dining experience. Our disappointment was not with the weather, but with the way the situation was handled. A manager should set the standard for customer service, and unfortunately, that did not happen here. I hope Paradise Cove views this as an opportunity to improve communication, organization, and leadership. I am sharing this review not simply to complain, but in the hope that future guests have a better experience. Saw Paradise Cove on TikTok and had to check it out for the beachfront dining. Reservations are recommended! It's in Malibu with a paid parking lot (validation available), but spaces are limited, so street parking is another option. We walked in on a Saturday around lunchtime and waited about 50 minutes for a table. The vibe is super beachy and gave me Hawaii vacation vibes. Indoor seating had little to no wait, but we chose the patio for the ocean view. Unfortunately, we didn't get one of the front-row beachfront tables. We ordered the clam chowder in a sourdough bread bowl, jumbo crispy onion rings, taco platter, and the Malibu Mai Tai served in a pineapple. The kitchen was backed up, so it took another 45 minutes for our food to come out. Honestly, the food was pretty mid and most of it came out cold, except for the clam chowder. The onion rings weren't very crispy, and the tacos were dry and lacked flavor. Overall, you're really coming here for the location, views, and atmosphere, not the food. The beachfront setting is beautiful if you can get a good table, and the staff was friendly, just very slow service during a busy weekend. Today we took my parents for my dad's 75th birthday to one of our favorite places in Malibu. I grew up going there my whole life and it was a low key restaurant on a private beach that we had the freshest food and most beautiful ocean view while we enjoyed it. Going back today, it was overpriced, over crowded and disgusting. 1. We had a reservation for 12:30 and didn't get seated until 1:10. 2. We couldn't park in the parking lot in front of the restaurant we had to park on PCH and we had to walk up and hill and down a hill with beach chairs, umbrellas and all our beach stuff sweating for 20 min. 3. We didn't get served until 1:40 and we were very patient. 4. They got our orders wrong (happens) but when they brought my kids hotdog it had a BLACK HAIR WRAPPED AROUND IT!! The guy who put the plate down saw it took it away and didn't even say sorry or look shocked, we were all mortified. If we hadn't been people who knew this restaurant for years before this incident, that would have been a "check please" run for your life situation. 5. The drinks were watered down and tasted syrupy and full of sugar. The fries were good but the $30 calamari appetizer was like eating tires that blew off the road on PCH covered in flavorless flour. 6. My parents got the poke bowls which were old chewy brownish ahi, brown stale rice, a drop of sauce, one chunk of avacado to spread around the inedible tower, cucumbers (5). Now... things like this happen. I have been to hundreds of restaurants in my life and never share the experience if it's bad because every restaurant and every person has off days. My mom was a single parent and raised me by being a waitress and we have the utmost patience and respect for that industry. I think in my entire life I've seen my parents MAYBE take 3 things back that were inedible and today was one of those days. It was just that...inedible. Maybe because we were treating them for my dad's birthday they felt worse for us because they knew it was a lot and they wouldn't be eating it? But geez. So after the hair incident the waiter did come over and say sorry but that was it. Ok. Then the ahi was inedible and my mom asked for dressing and even after it was swimming more than anyone on the rocky beach in front of us, the sauce was spicy and totally changed the flavor and wasn't going to be redeemed. Mind you, we had said nothing other than Silently to the bus boy about the hot dog hair and when the waiter scame over finally we told him when he inquired about it. So the ahi was the first thing brought to the waiters attention from us.. not like we were complaining since the moment we sat down and causing any sort of issue before to make him stressed lol. All we said was the hot dog had a hair, they gave my daughter the wrong order (in the same breath not for any other reason but the fact we were served it by a busboy who didn't speak English and wasn't the waiter so he isn't in charge or know the situation and before he dropped the food off we had a waitress covering for our waiter so it was more so catching him up on the situation. So all he dealt with was that the ahi just wasn't what we thought and he said "I'm getting my manager one second". Ok.. And we waited for about 6 min and that's why I am here right now writing this. For no other reason than this. The manager came over and he was pissed from the get go. The first thing he said "the waiter is all frustrated so what's the issue". In our heads we were like huh? Frustrated? He got here after his lunch and had barely even seen us let alone dealt with us and that's what he says out the gate? Ya.. so anyway, he said what's wrong with it? We explained it was dry, missing avacado, didn't list brown rice etc and he said "ok, what else do you want?". We said, we don't want anything, we just didn't care for this and the calamari is just tough. He said "pfft ok, we sell 400 of these a day but ok sure it's tough sure." Walked off and said "JESUS CHRIST". Now...my kids said mom? Why did he say Jesus' name like that so angry? We said some people use Gods name in vein but we don't so don't ever do that ok? WHAT?! You're talking to paying customers that dealt with a hair wrapped hot dog sir. lol. Never complained about it and you're over here being a jerk. This was unacceptable and totally crossed the line. Things happen.. Accidents happen.. Food isn't always perfect. fish is unpredictable but the attitude was so over the top disgusting that we will never be back and it pains me to say that. I have never been so sad about a memory changing so much for me and to bring my kids to this and talk it up only to have this as an experience was horrible. It's been ages since I came here and I forgot how solid the food is! It's no fine dining but it's about as good as it gets with a view like that. All food is simple but well portioned. True beach food. The shrimp aguachile verde was a whole pound of shrimp with a bit of a kick and was delicious and the fish and chips were solid. Make sure to get here early so you can get your name on the list because it gets busy especially on the weekends so if you want a table right on the water, you'll have to wait a bit. Hubby & I booked the cabana chairs out on the beach area for the day. We decided to grab a chill brunch before we relaxed by the beach. Most folks want to do the alfresco dining but the wait is longer. Hubby enjoyed his loco moco dish. I got the simple 2 sunny side up with sour dough bread and a side of fruit. It's all about the ambience. Surfside is always a winner. What's better is the food lives up to the pretty location. I've never had a bad meal here. I love seafood, I'm a Southern California native so I grew up surf fishing. I know good seafood. But a sunny day on the patio, nothing beats it. We made reservations a few days ahead of time but it still took over a half hour to get seated but once a table was free they cleaned it upon quickly and got us seated. With this many people you can imagine the different foods we got, some to ear alone and some to share for all including onion rings and sourdough bread and guacamole & chips. Paradise Cove is our go to Sunday beach brunch. We went last March 28th, and the tables were clean, plenty of staff, service was excellent, and food was good. It's a beach cafe, not a Vegas steakhouse, so set your expectations. We like to go early before the crowds, 1130am gets us easy parking, seated immediately, and for the lunch menu (clam chowder) We love sitting outside and grabbing a drink before noon. Came at around noon and we were able to still get parking by the cafe. Wanted to sit outside as weather was perfect but it would be 1.5 hours wait so we decided to eat inside. Took about 20mins. Ordered calamari, their best seller. Also the beef ribs with saffron rice these are our faves here. There are chairs outside overlooking the beach and we sat there after we ate. Really wanted to love this place since we came here to celebrate my mom's birthday, but the overall experience was incredibly disappointing. We had a reservation, and the restaurant advertises that it has a parking lot. However, the only road leading to the lot (about a 1-minute drive from the restaurant) was blocked by parking attendants who told us the lot was full. We could clearly see cars leaving the lot, so we tried asking where we should park instead. Instead of helping, the attendants were extremely rude. They wouldn't even come over to speak with us and simply motioned for us to make a U-turn. We ended up having to park about a 15-minute walk away, which wasn't ideal considering we were dressed up in heels for a birthday dinner. Honestly, if it hadn't been my mom's birthday and we didn't already have a reservation, we would have left. When we arrived, I explained the situation to the hostess. She said there was nothing she could do and even admitted that people complain about the parking all the time. I asked to speak with a manager, but was told the manager couldn't do anything either because the parking attendants work for a different company. To make things even more frustrating, we walked past the parking lot on our way in and counted at least 10 empty parking spaces. Unfortunately, the issues didn't stop there. We ordered a fresh coconut, and there was a hair on it. Then my shrimp dish also had a hair in it. What really surprised me was what happened when we were leaving. The hostess asked if we wanted our parking validated. At that point I honestly wondered if she had listened to anything I had said earlier. We couldn't even park in the restaurant's lot because we were turned away, so there was nothing to validate. We ended up spending around $300, and for that price, I expected a much better experience. The restaurant itself is beautiful and the oceanfront location is gorgeous, but the poor handling of the parking situation, the lack of accountability from the staff, and the food quality issues completely overshadowed the evening. read more

Honest review, my friend recommended this location based on the breakfast. We arrived at 10am breakfast stops at 11am the menu was not what I was expecting nothing pop out to my interest. It took about 15-20 mins before we can order a drink by that time it was 10:40 and I was not about to order breakfast so we ask for the lunch menu. We ask for two meals and 1 appetizers our appetizers was order 10 mins before our meals and somehow our meal got their first. I order the streak ribeye and my friend order the mussels. The streak was claiming to be Americans finest and I love streak, I order with a side of mashed potato's. The streak was dry not enough flavor and not worth the $70 bucks they charging. The service was disappointing--our server only came to our table twice (to take our drink and food orders) and never checked on us again. Our food also took about 45 minutes to come out. We were a party of two but were seated at a table for eight. When we asked to switch to a smaller table, we were told there weren't any available, yet we watched other guests get moved to the tables they requested. Also, if the parking lot is full, be prepared to park along the highway and walk quite a distance to the restaurant, and the walk back to your car is even worse. We genuinely like Paradise Cove--the beautiful setting, relaxing atmosphere. Unfortunately, we've now had two disappointing customer service experiences, and we're beginning to wonder if it's a pattern. During our last visit, we specifically asked that no bacon, ham, or other pork products be included in our meal. Despite this, our food arrived with bacon placed directly on the platter. Since it had come into contact with the rest of the food, we were uncomfortable eating it. We chose not to send it back because we didn't want to create problems for the server and simply removed the bacon ourselves. When we politely mentioned our concern, the waitress responded that we could just remove the bacon, without acknowledging that cross-contact can be a serious issue for guests with dietary or religious restrictions. Although she checked on us a few times afterward, the interactions felt more obligatory than genuinely welcoming. Even so, we thanked her and left a generous tip because we appreciate the hard work of restaurant staff. As we were leaving, we politely asked for a small amount of ice to keep our children's drinks cool for the drive. We were told they "don't provide ice for guests" because they have "2,000 guests to take care of." While businesses have policies, the response felt unnecessarily dismissive and harsh. After spending a significant amount on our meal, a small request like this could have been handled more graciously, even if the answer was still no. Great customer service is often reflected in small acts of courtesy and how guests are treated. We still like Paradise Cove for its location and food, but these repeated experiences have left a bitter taste in our mouths. We hope management gives customer service the same attention as the dining experience, because we're no longer sure we'll be returning. read more

She seemed irritated and startled. After we got our food we were trying to get anyone's attention for over 10 minutes. No one noticed us. The manager and 2 other employees were standing right near our table and my friend and I kept staring at them trying to get attention and nothing. When we finally got someone's attention we let them know our child didn't like their food and it was too spicy. The server again gave a ton of attitude and went to get the manager. (Who was standing near by) the two of them walked away for a few minutes then the manager came back and argued with me when I brought up the lack of service and not being noticed. We returned to Paradise Cove Beach Cafe to celebrate an early Mother's Day, hoping to recreate a great experience from years ago. Unfortunately, despite the beautiful ambiance it was a bit of a fiasco. For an appetizer, we chose the calamari but it was overly breaded and greasy. It immediately upset our stomachs. We ordered the "Gigantic Seafood Tower." When we asked our waiter how it differed from the appetizer platter, he simply said it added lobster. We weren't prepared for the scale; it was an enormous amount of food, easily enough for 6-8 people. For our party of 3 (2 adults, 1 child), it was overkill. We spent over $200 (market price) and had to leave half of it behind since we live too far away for the leftovers to keep. The menu says "It's a lot of seafood," but it really should specify a recommended party size to avoid this kind of waste. The exit was equally stressful. A system failure at the gate and parking ATM caused a massive backup that took nearly an hour to clear. We were charged the $65 beach rate despite having restaurant validation (which should have been $15). The saving grace was David, who I think was the manager. He was out there in the parking lot, going car-to-car to explain the refund process and eventually redirecting traffic through a manual side gate. He was hustling and deserves a raise for handling a mess that wasn't even the restaurant's fault. Sadly, between the menu confusion and the parking nightmare, we won't be back. read more

We got a table, the waiter came maybe once in a whole hour, never got napkins or silverware, I had to go ask 3 times to the front desk if they could bring. ONLY when we got the food after asking 3 times I got them at the front. We asked for appetizer that came with the food not before, we had to stand to ask for water since nobody will show up, and my husband asked for a slice of cake and they forgot to bring it so we left.
